Yah for the whole WORLD!!!!
The Longest Year
I won't be satisfied until Bush and Cheney pay a price for all their wrong doing.
U.S. will be owned by Saudi Arabia by then.
In honor of this historic milestone, let me be the first to say what a dick he is.
We don't get real representation until we kick out the folks who control GW's strings.
http://www.brasschecktv.com/page/256.html
Anyone else paying attention to the massive election fraud happening in the various primaries?
Too bad we wouldn't have to wait an entire year if the Dems would actually hold his administration accountable for all of his crimes against country and Constitution. The injustice is irreconcilable.
"George W. Bush has one more year."
...then some dumb Democrat gets to look like the bad guy for staying in the Iraq quagmire, or (much less likely) for exiting Iraq and letting the place collapse.
I wish the title of this post was:
Unless we succumb to the post-Iran strike Stock Market crash martial law from now till then...

George Bush smooths path for Hillary
BUSH administration officials are paving the way for a smooth transition to a possible Democratic presidency as Hillary Clinton consolidates her position as the overwhelming favourite to win her party’s nomination for the 2008 election.

You know, I feel sorry for Bush. Maybe it's just my empathy for a man stuck in the middle of such harsh criticism or the fact that he and others that advise or work for him have a conscience - that they have to live with the rest of their lives brooding on eight years in the White House. What they did, what they are going to do and what, if any, realization that maybe, just maybe they could try to correct some wrongs. I could see some of that mentality when he visited Israel for the first time while president. Maybe he's realized that the White House has goofed up too many times and overlooked serious problems, one of which is the most obvious (Israeli and Palestinian conflict).
I just hope people won't be harsh him as much after the 44th is sworn in (Hillary). It's easy to beat a man down when he's already on the ground. Of course, the neo-cons have beat many up as well but reciprocating violence does not create a better world. That's what the whole idea of compassion and empathy for fellow humans regardless of what they did to us.
Anyway, hope the last year is better than the previous seven.

I hope not!

Like someone is going to persecute the former president of United States. I'd like to see that spectacle. Dream on. As long as America is a superpower with lots and lots of nukes and has a huge military, there will not be a single court in the world that would dare imprison the POTUS. There are just too many supporters and too many people would be wanting blood for it.
If there ever was a court proceeding, it would have to be done in the American justice system, with American judges. However, even if there was a conviction, the current POTUS would pardon him.
It's unrealistic.

LA Confidental @66-You are sooooo right. Yea-great who cares. We get rid of Bush, and we get next another Corporate Creep President to take the reins. Take Your Pick: John McCain, Mitt Romney, Hillary Clinton, Barach Obama. Don't expect much because they will all be a prototype of Bush. Not much of a difference than what you have now. The only difference is that anyone that votes for the jerks listed above will be to blame for 4 more miserable years of Bushes policies! Is there anyway out of this mess??? ARe we in hell and just don't know it??
We have sooo much to look forward to. After Bush gets out we'll either get four more years of John McCain and Mike Huckabey as VP. Or better yet Hillary Clinton and Joe Lieberman as VP!!!
If you, bluegal, and others would get behind the impeachment effort (instead of sorta standing on the sidelines), we can make that year actually productive for progessive politics. It is only by holding these criminals up to public condemnation that we will establish enough trust in the govenment to get the majority of Americans to buy into single payer, immediate withdrawl for Iraq and progressive taxes to get us out of the looming economical meltdown.
There is nothing to celebrate. After 2004, I gave up on this country. It's run by idiots because for the most part it's filled with idiots who'd rather watch "Are you smarter than a 5th grader" than figure out what's going on in the world. Things will pretty much stay the same under a democrat, then another Bush will get elected in 4 to 8 years and we'll just keep on moving towards the 13th century.
80 leslie Says:
Well Pelosi has been spewing that bs for quite some time but that hasn't stopped Kucinich, Wexler, and many, many others so we'll see what happens.
The second to the last paragraph in the Independent article:
"The new occupant of the Oval Office can but hope today's dislike for America is directed at a leader, not at a country. That may well be, but one thing is for sure. Never again will the US occupy that extraordinary position of supremacy – military, moral and economic – that it held in the interlude between the demise of Communism and the attacks of September 2001."
Ain't that the truth. George Bush (and his enablers in the last GOP Tom Delay congress, media, talk radio, etc..) has single handedly brought America down. Osama BinLaden must be estastic!
It's going to be a long year. We should start now organizing a massive party on the national mall in Washington to show the world we are just as happy that this son of a bitch is leaving office as they are. Imagine an unpresidented display of hundreds of thousands of Americans on the National Mall actually celebrating a president leaving office! It would also signify a apology to the world for inflicting these ruthless bastards upon the global community.
This time next year Bush will have his new video game out -- Grand Theft America.
I do my homework @ 51:
Bingo.
I don't think Bush is going to stop this year's election... or make a bid for extending his presidency.
I DO think that the Bushies are going to do everything possible to get Romney appointed President. Maybe with Terror attacks... maybe with the help of the Supreme Court again... or maybe thru "The Magic of Diebold." Romney is their man. Look out Rudy! If this were a Hollywood movie, there would be a Blackwater SNIPER on every rooftop in Florida.
they won't be leaving, the Shrub will declare martial law and install himself as grand poobah
because "we're at war" and he's got to stay the course.
you mark my words.
abarts @ 92:
More like from the Gitmo ..........
Remember all: every voter who voted for him is indirectly responsible for every decision, good or bad, that Bush has made in his tenure as POTUS. And the Republican Party especially is to blame for him occupying that job. they should be made to pay for elections to come for years. yes, he never should've been president but they just had to have him, so they slandered McCain to get him in 2000. stupid GOP.
what's the point? The damage is done.
#87-I hear you. I also gave up on this country after the 2004 election. When Bush was voted in over Kerry, I realized there was no hope for this country. And, it should be more evident than ever, after watching the current crop of Presidential hopefuls, wanting to take the reins. It will be more of the same after Bush is gone. I am now willing to accept that this country is doomed for failure. It is going to happen fast in a free fall, or die a slow death. But I know one thing for certain. It is going to happen.
worst rapture bunnyist president ever
One of three things will happen ... resulting in one thing.
Either Bush doesnt allow elections or Clinton is elected or McCain is elected ... which results in the same thing in any case. The corporations and the aristocracy win.
The only candidates that are even willing to fundamentally change the system are being selected out.
The fix is in kids.
Why do Progressives spend so much time talking about Bush?
The top 5 downloads for the week do not include any Democratic candidates or representatives.
The Republicans give plenty of ink to their darlings.
Why don't Progressive sites focus on progressive people and issues that concern the American electorate?

He got away with it six years ago.Are you going to let him get away with it again?
Of course you are.
that's one year too many!!!
GDTMFAH
do you really think he will leave???
get real. . . .
What happened to this once great country of ours???
The damage has been done... It won't matter when we are in a depression next year.
I think the depression will start this year. I live in a very nice area of Souther California. Today, driving home, I saw Auction signs for Condos that were recently built about 3 years ago. At one time, you couldn't get one of these condos if your life depended on it. Condos in this area were sold the day they went on the market. Now they are Auctioning them off to the highest bidder most likely becuase people have walked away from their payments or went belly up. NO my friend, the Depression will happen this year. We are going to start a free fall once the Stock Market tanks.
I don't know...
The fact that you're celebrating "only one more year to go" only further demonstrates how weakly and meakly you have dealt with this gangster in the first place.
You have not held him accountable for anything and you have let him and his ilk kick you around as rag dolls.
Now the best thing you have to say for yourself is that you're happy you only have to put up with it for one more year.
Way to go, big talkers. What a bunch of stand-up guys you all have been - NOT.
Shame on you all Americans for playing your part in letting this mess happen.
/A Swede who once was living in beautiful Chicago
YES indeed the countdown begins for BUSH regime.
But AMERICA the END of his term is NOT going to END fo the BUSH/CHENEY's POLICIES....if YOU vote for a PRESIDENTIAL candidate.... that will assume and continue their unprecedented destruction of AMERICAN DEMOCRACY, abuse of powers , and destructive foreign and self-serving economic policies.
WE must FOCUS.....FOCUS on ISSUES that affects US ALL.....when we elect our NEXT PRESIDENT.
But just think how much more damage he could do in his final year. Hey, he's got nothing to lose and there are only about 10 democrats in the entire congress with the balls to impeach him. He's still got the brain dead 1/4 of the country on his side.
Hey, speaking of the coming recession/depression, wasn't it that wacko Ron Paul that said this was going to happen?

I still dont think he is going to leave. Anybody else feel this way?
Party at my place when the douche-bag finally kicks the bucket. I'll even buy the booze.
01-21-09 That will be a great day ! Drinks on me!
Bush will be out of office next year, but the damage he's done will last for years. This nightmare should have ended years ago. Bush and Cheney should be sitting in jail cells. No...they should be waterboarded. See how they like it.
If he actually leaves office. Don't be surprised if another "false flag" attack occurs next summer during one of his countless vacations.
New attack....Police state...martial law. If that doesn't happen cause it seems so drastic then you can be sure that the other plan from these puppetmasters will be Hillary Clinton...she is the chosen one, She was the guest of honor at the Bilderburgs gathering....sad reality folks.
The scrub brush in crawford is calling....
Still not soon enough
The clock's off by about 4 hours!
Two more things to Lucus' good list:
On the intellectual curiosity, remember the over-the-top long list of books that he was supposed to read over a short few months, as it was nothing to it. Funny because the mistake with the too long list can only be made by someone who has no clue how long it takes to read a book, and apparently there are no readers of books in the entire white house that could prevent that faux pas to happen.
Remember Talon News, the only news org that wasn't "divorced from reality", and what was his name, that gay call-guy who apparently had huffed, puffed and sucked his way into the white house press room.
And on that theme, remember all those phony news stories that started to appear in regular news casts, being nothing but overt propaganda for government policies.
That said, the sadest thing about Lucus' list isn't how unapologetic the fascists have been about all this, but how you, the American public, and liberal establishment have allowed these thing sto happen time and time again.
Talk about having been fooled once, twice, trice, a gazillion times. You have not been fooled, you have been royally screwed over, and you continue to let yourself getting screwed over. Only now, when you stand there in a long line, with your pants down, you all start to look at your calendars, looking to your left and right telling each other, "only one more year to go, it will sure feel good when this is over..."
Screw you, all of you, I am so angry with you people i don't know where to begin...

Let's pray he doesn't engage NSPD 51 and make Congress obsolete. (like he really needs to do anything anyway to accomplish this?) http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article18591.htm
Here's one for my fellow paranoid friends:
Most of us assume DICK cHENEY really runs things behind the scenes, along with his right hand legal thug, David Addington. Bush and his right hand legal thug at the time of the creation of NSPD 51, Gonzales, did not have the mental capacity to write up this legal document and my guess is cHENEY and Addington did. So, now we have the 800 FEMA camps all ready and still empty but guarded, legalized torture, and the NSDP 51 ready to go. What are they waiting for? H.R. 1955 to be passed in the Senate and someone "competent" to be President
http://www.govtrack.us/users/events.xpd?monitors=bill:h110-1955
Scenario to ponder:
After the Senate passes HR 1955, Cheney takes Bush out (maybe that's why daddy bush boo-hoo'd in Congress last year, that decision had been made-Jeb was to do this but, they couldn't steal that election for him ) So, someone "assassinates" the GEE-DOUBLE_YA puppet, cHENEY gets sworn in, engages NSPD 51, gets Congress out of HIS WAY (watch Cheney's Law on PBS) and the FEMA camps that DICK built start to fill up with protesters arrested under the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Prevention Act of 2007.
God, I hope for the worlds sake I am just a Paranoid guy with too much imagination-Nice plot for a book thought, huh?

2008 is a leap year . is it not ? unfortunately we have one more day of mr bush in the WH than we thought !
ConcernedCanuck @ 129:
1)Dennis Kucinch I would consider a progressive. Maybe do to the Media self imposed cencorship of some of the Presidential canidates, not enough people have heard him or of him
2)Gee double ya gives us so much amo we just run out of breath
Bush simply leaving office isn't good enough.
Everybody write your congressman and demand impeachment!
I was in a stationary store last week and they were selling these little key chains that are actually like a stop watch...counting down the seconds, minutes, hours and days til
Bush is out of office.
Anybody else see these?
I didn't buy one, but I had to laugh at the concept. I can't think of any other president who inspires such creativity.
Still too f*%$ing long......
Think about it, how pathetic is our once great country to have a man like that as president. It is proof positive of our rapid decline. We didn't need enemies to bring us down we rotted from within.
