Looking Ahead To Bush's Final State Of The Union Address

(h/t DownWithTyranny)

As the campaign moves forward and the Democratic candidates go at each other, this video, which shows some of the many broken promises made by President Bush in his 2007 SOTU speech, contains some excellent talking points they may want use when they finally begin to focus on the mess our country is in and who is to blame for it -- namely, the Republican Party and their president. The current batch of GOP candidates have vowed to carry on Bush's failed policies if elected and it would be nice to see the Democratic candidates driving these points home at every opportunity. Remember the REAL bad guys?

The State of the Union address is scheduled for 9 Eastern tonight.

Ron Paul is the exception.

He can dust off his steriods speech from years back.

Thanks for the warning, I'll turn my LIE DECTECTOR off, because it peggs the needle.

We can look forward to Bush announcing that among the many 'successes' in Iraq, we can look forward to it becoming another major supplier to the US, not only of oil, but of drugs, since poppy fields are popping up all over Iraq even faster than body bags.

I guess there are parts of the 'Master Plan' for Iraq that this administration chose not to reveal in advance.

Can we expect another kick ass SOTU response from Jim Webb?

I attended the SOTU last year and I can tell you, the applause was so tepid, and the speech so boring, the D.C. mayor, the L.A. mayor and the Maryland governor all fell asleep.

This career fool has NEVER said anything truthful or significant in his sorry, made easy, fucked up life. If I never ever hear from Dubyah again, I'll be happy.

HEY!! If I told you once, I told you 935 TIMES, IRAQ 911, Mushroom Cloud!

Someone needs to send bush a case of Jack Daniels.

Everyone would be much better off if he just stayed drunk the rest of the year.

Ron Paul is the exception.

Do you have some filter that only lets you see the foreign policy and not the domestic policy? Ron Paul have voted against the chips bill, fought against the energy independence bill. Ron Paul is perfectly happy with the failure of the Federal Government.

The speech in a nutshell.

The surge is working
Girls are going to school in Afghanistan
The economy is strong
Saddam was a threat
We're getting steroids out of baseball
Democracy is spreading like a wild fire in the middle east
Iran is a threat
Make the tax cuts permanent.
And finally, there is a man sitting by Laura who was tortured by Saddam.
But we do not torture
God bless America and good luck to the sucker who gets stuck with this job next year.

"Our economy is on the move and it's our job to keep it that way."

Goodbye Economy. I hope you are happy where ever you are going to.

I always said, we should all send gw a bottle of whiskey, shut down the whitehouse mail room. Then he would know, how much we hate his ass. 60 million bottles of whiskey.

THANK YOU, for putting the focus back on the *real* criminals (not big, bad Bill Clinton)! It's going to take focus, coordination and quick response to win big in November.

Say wha? Who picked her? Couldn't we get someone with a bit more gravitas?? Dodd...Feingold...Jonathan Turley...?

The SOTU is always so exciting! I am going to bake some yellow cake!

Hey, my comment (#11) on this was made on the 24th of Jan. How in the world did it get on this thread now? I was reading the comments and I started reading the 11th one, then I said hell, that sounds like something I wrote a few days ago.....and it was. Bizarre!

Tonight bush will take credit for whatever he decides is good and he will blame everything that is bad on the "democrat" congress. Watch and see.

[sitemonitor - sorry for the confusion, this post may have been posted, taken down and rescheduled.]

Thanks mr bush for the incredible failures you have lead America to and through during your disastrous term. You will always stand out in the minds of America as being number one (the worst ever) presnit.

How about if Bush endorses McCain.

The most uplifting thing about the SOTU tonight is the word FINAL. I feel better already.

The Senators and Representatives have a full schedule today :)

The only good thing this chronic loser can say to us is fucking goodbye. And for all you stupid assholes who voted for this six foot tall stack of shit (twice), but not for your vote this nation wouldn't be a turd in the toilet waiting to be flushed.

No fecking way am I going to sit through a SOTU speech delivered by that ass-clown. Can't watch him on TV. Can't listen to him on the radio. Lately I can't even stand to see quotes from him in the newspaper.

Wake me when it's over.

I'll consider this an exercise in oppositional research.

Announcement of 5 troops killed today will temper the "Surge is Working" propaganda...

[deleted - we're thinking this might have been satire, but please read the commenting policy just in case.]

...tonight I'm going to party like it's 1999.

I hope I don't have to watch Pelosi and Reid sitting there smiling and applauding this pompous wastrel. In fact I would be very happy to see the Democrats just boycott this damn speech that will be more lies and covering for past lies. Unless he apologizes for completely fucking up our country then this is a complete waste of everyone's time.

[sitemonitor - refers to deleted post]

When did George Bush fight for America's freedom?

jonas @ 26:

Announcement of 5 troops killed today will temper the "Surge is Working" propaganda...

Neither will this bit of news:

'If there is no change in three months, there will be war again'

"If there is no change in three months there will be war again," said Abu Marouf, the commander of 13,000 fighters who formerly fought the Americans. He and his men switched sides last year to battle al-Qa'ida and defeated it in its main stronghold in and around Fallujah.

"If the Americans think they can use us to crush al-Qa'ida and then push us to one side, they are mistaken,"

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/if-there-is-no-chang...

That comment is so earth shatteringly stupid that it defies a response. At least the spelling gives it some entertainment value.

Why isn't the title of this:

Jackass's last state of the union shit-flinging chimp act? Or:

Zoo chimp's last public, behind-the-exhibit-glass masturbaton session in front of the zoo visitors?

Have you people not yet figured out that he is simply a zoo chimpanzee who can't speak english or understand rudimentary ideas?

that was directed at #27. didn't last long, did it?

.
.
.
Tonight's "State of The Union" should be under the context of Impeachment hearings.

Nancy Pelosi, sitting smugly behind the president, is complicit in whatever we get this year.

I'm guessing this won't be part of Bush's speech tonight::::

AMAZING that the Repubs are ready to continue the mess we're in, and the policies that got us there! How can they think we need ANOTHER conservative religious-fanatic white guy?

The dems better grow a pair and make sure women and black folks vote, otherwise it's essentially GWBush 2.0 -

Let's all get a 'tax cut' by taking a few % off our tax bills! Problem solved!

Today's the 28th, I posted this four days ago and it just showed up. OK, you're still perfecting your time machine, that's fun. Now do me a favor. Post today what I will post on February 1st, four days from now. Save me some time. Thanx.

And on another note. I wonder if Bush is going to hold a moment of silence to reflect on the recent death of a U.S. ally, dictator General Suharto of Indonesia? Here is a bit of background on this ally that the U.S. embassy in Indonesia is praising. Is there no mass murderer that the U.S. Government does not support?:

Indonesia's former dictator General Suharto has died in bed and not in jail, escaping justice for his numerous crimes in East Timor and throughout the Indonesian archipelago. One of the worst mass murderers of the 20th century, his death tolls still shock:

500,000 to one million Indonesians in the aftermath of his 1965 seizure of power;
100,000 in West Papua;
100,000 to 200,000 in East Timor, which his troops illegally invaded in 1975;
tens of thousands more in Aceh and elsewhere.

Jim Spence - I think you may be lost in more ways than one. You can't possibly believe that crap unless you have been in a cave for the past seven years.

If The Dummy wants to bring the house down (as well as the whole country) with his SOTU speech, it should be:

'My Fellow Americans, This is my last State of the Union speech. Thank you.'

[sitemonitor - read the commenting policy. all posts that seek to insult or start arguments are subject to deletion.]

I hope Bush mentions the human/animal hybrids like he did a few years back.

He was appointed by the Supreme court the first time. He was not elected then.

The Supreme Court has no Constitutional power to appoint Presidents.

But as a friend of mine points out, the US Constitution is a document of convenience. We are happy to put it aside when it gets in the way of getting stuff done.

Bush will get a helluva applause when it's over. Less than one more year for the most corrupt, murderous military regime in US history. Please, oh please, my American friends, do not ever elect/select/infect the rest of the globe with crap like this again!! The world truly does not hate you, but if this trend continues, will. As the most powerful military on the globe, you have allowed a bunch of traitorous thugs to take over, and kill hundreds of thousands (if not more) while waving a flag and proclaiming democracy. This clown has increased terrorism 1000X and the chance of more innocent Americans dying is astronomical. He has publicly damaged your reputation more than any President in US history. Please make sure it never happens again. We like you as a power and would hate to see you slide backwards, taking us all down with you.

JimSpence@37 Dude you've got nothing new to say. We've been listening that right wing bullshit for a decade. You stupid fuckers make my ears bleed. Now go back to the pacific northwest woods and get ready for the race war.

Certainly, some uses of human cloning could be used for unethical and immoral devices. It would be wrong (immoral) to dismiss all of the possibilities of cloning. It is not unethical or immoral to continue researching the possibilities of science. It's how greedy and power-hungry people use the technology that creates problems.

Jim Spence - Elected twice - are you kidding? He has never been elected but obviously you don't concern yourself with those pesky facts. Yes, he got close enough to steal it twice, once with Big Bro & Daddy's Supremes and then with Ken Blackwell and his Diebold buddies so all it proves is that there are way too many people like you who have blinders on and don't do any research before forming your opinions and voting. This man has been a complete wastrel for his entire life. If his name wasn't Bush he would be working at Wal-Mart.

I think I hear Coulter & Malkin calling you - so shoo now, shoo!

It's often hard to discern the meaning of a 'conservative' post, just as it is a Bush speech. So, as a matter of policy, unintelligible tripe is usually deleted, to avoid possible misunderstandings.

Actually Pres Bush has been very clear and honest in his speeches- His detractors have already made up their minds about the president, and don't even listen to him-They ridicule him for petty things, like his Texas accent.
So my conservative opinion is "unintelligible tripe"? That's a pretty arrogant-yet typical dismissal of conservative comments. Conservtive blogs are far more accepting of liberals who poste opposing views.
I really wish people would get over this campaign to 'Bash Bush'. He's a good man, and has done his best to protect this country against atatcks.

"Yellow cake" is used to make nukular WMD. The NSA computers will probably pick up this post of yours, so don't be surprised if a flock of black SUVs disgorge a couple dozen black-ski-masked special forces at your home in an hour or so.
If you can bribe a guard at Gitmo, let us know how it all turns out.

I would go so far as to say it's even more criminal when people, usually for religious reasons, get in the way of scientific advances.

"The State of the Union address is scheduled for 9 Eastern tonight."

I'll be sure to find something else to do when it comes on. There is nothing that Bush will say that I have not heard before and frankly, I am tired of listening to it.

Why has our national debt doubled in just seven yrs?

Why did we attack a sovereign nation that had not threatened or attacked us?

Why are more than 4000 of our military men and women dead and more than 40,000 injured and maimed in that war?

Why are hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi men, women and children dead?

Where is Osama Bin Forgotten? You know the guy Bush says he doesn't think about much.

Hey spence,
You know our military is stretched thin right? Well, I can help you out with that. What region of the US are you in? I could get you hooked up with a recruiter today and have you at MEPS before the weekend.

Bwaaaaaaaaaaahahahahaha........come on, if you are going to just troll, at least make something up in your own words!!!!!!!

Please see the thread about trolling. It's quite obvious from reading your posts you are NOT a conservative or you wouldn't be sticking up for Bush. Conservatives do not believe in borrowing and spending. Period. Bush has put the US so far in debt, it would take real conservatives decades to get it out. Bush is a straight shooter, but truth? He is a C student, with no grasp on anything. He was CHOSEN by the NeoCON's because he is a dupe. Now quit trolling.

yeah...trolling is any view that is not liberal, right? Your venom for Pres Bush is so pathological, you drip hatred at a person for the simple fact they support him...That is far more 'troll' like that my honest comments. And you call Pres Bush a failure? The man was a successful governer of Texas and was TWICE elected to be President of the United States. How is that being a failure?
There is no question an enormous ammount of money has been spent in Iraq, and I do think it's problamtic that there hasn't been better accounting of the money sent to Iraq-Many of the Iraqis have stolen enormous ammounts of money but much of that fault I place of Donald Rumsfeld- i will agree with Rumsfeld's critics- Rumsfeld was incompitant, and unfortunatly much of the venom that should be aimed at Rumsfeld has been directed at Pres Bush. Keeping Rumsfeld on was Pres Bush's greatest blunder- but that error aside, Pres Bush has done great things for this country. Going into Iraq was the correct thing to do, and we need to stay until we win. Some mistakes were made along the way, but sometimes we need to make mistakes to learn from them.

Would anyone who believes this administration about the Islamofascism threat here in the United States be interested in a tour of possible cell locations I have discovered in St. Augustine, Florida? Really, the Islamic influence is so prevalent that there are actual buildings that proclaim the Islamic influence in their architecture. I am a licensed tour guide and will gladly point them out to you during a secret tour. Or we can look for the ghosts that haunt this town.

No WAY to avoid it:

White House just announced that President Bush’s State of the Union address would be simulcast in English.

Hey spence,
You know our military is stretched thin right? Well, I can help you out with that. What region of the US are you in? I could get you hooked up with a recruiter today and have you at MEPS before the weekend.

Which is why we need the draft- NOT having the draft is assinine..
And I did serve in the US Navy in the 1980s. so I did my serve my country. Have you?

Every time I hear some nut case say that Bush is a good Christian I am reminded of what Ghandi said about our Christians.

He said, "I love your Jesus, I don't much care for your Christians, they are so unlike your Jesus".

"...and if you are one of the many athiests I have encountered on the left, you will NEVER understand what it means for person to have Jesus Christ in their heart."

I am, and you're right. I'll never know or understand what it means to have Jesus Christ in my heart. I'll also never know what it means to want to blow myself up for God. I'll never know what it's like to abuse my children by telling them if they don't "believe in God," they're going to hell. I'll never know what it's like to refuse medical attention because my religion does not allow it. I'll never know what it's like to use prejudices because of what an ancient book of fiction tells me.

I could go on for days on all of the miserable things I am glad to not experience. But responding to your posts is becoming just that: miserable.

Let me guess- you think Bush was behind 9/11, right?

Fascism is a marriage between corporations and government. So an Islamo Fascist is a Muslim that wants the world ruled by international corporations.

Jim Spence - I posed a few questions for you earlier. Care to answer any of them? They were the easiest ones I could think of considering you are a Bush "conservative".

Jim Spence - Well, I see all the fear-mongering has worked it's magic on you. Are you hiding under your bed while posting your delusions? Let me ask you a few questions:

Why has our national debt doubled in just seven yrs?

Why did we attack a sovereign nation that had not threatened or attacked us?

Why are more than 4000 of our military men and women dead and more than 40,000 injured and maimed in that war?

Why are hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi men, women and children dead?

Where is Osama Bin Forgotten? You know the guy Bush says he doesn't think about much.

Yellowbird @ 78:

Note to Jim Spence: "Islamofascism" is indeed MAKE BELIEVE. It is a term made up by Karl Rove to water down the term FASCISM... which fits with their regime, but not with Islam.

Islamic states are currently invaded and occupied by greedy westerners seeking to steal their treasure AND THEY KNOW IT.

Liberal propaganda....Where are all the barrels of oil we are allegedly stealing?

Ignorant people like yourself only "follow the leader" and hold up their lies while nursing your hero fantasies all the while their eastern world explodes in unrest.

Welcome to Vietnam Two. Wonder how YOU would like life on the receiving end of this greedy murderous business.

As for tonights SOTU?

I won't watch. I can't hold down the vomit that long. I haven't watched for 7 years and I got to hear it all on the net anyway. Good thing I don't have a TV.

PUKE.

PUKE, even if you hate George Bush, not watching any of his speeches hardly makes you a credible judge on anything he has to say- But I digress, to address your questions

(1)The national debt has grown for several reasons- We are paying the price for the financial carlessness of the Clinton years- plus we are at war- a war that is sadly needed, which is very expensive

(2)I guess you forgot about 9/11

(3)Duh- In waretime, soldiers get injured or killed. Thats why it's called war!

(4)Iraqi civilans are dead becuase many of them enambled the terrorits, many got in the way of shellfire, and its war. Civilains die in war, look at World war 2. Boo Hoo. It's sad, but it's the nature of war. Get over it. Would you rather it was American civilians that died instead?

(5)I think Osama is dead- If not, he'll turn up. Our soldiers will find him.

There are many people in the world that feel that killing human beings for profit is moral.

We are at war with who? We invaded a sovereign nation for their oil. Al Queda was not in or from Iraq. Over 70% of the Iraqis want us to leave. Don't you get it? They don't want a democracy that invades other countries for profit.

But first, please answer Bluesage's questions. For example:

Do you know that Iraq was a secular nation - Saddam hated Bin Laden and everything he stood for. So....Why did we attack a sovereign nation that had not threatened or attacked us?

bush has created a million free iraqys ,thier dead and no one can bother them now!!!!! to think thier are still so many morons whod slobber on bushes boner is pathetic!

If you think Iraq is some morally magnificent war, that's being fought to "win" then you're living on another planet.

Do you even realise just how much particular corporations are making in Iraq, and how much power they wield in washington? Iraq isnt being prolonged because we're trying to win, Iraq is being drawn out because every day we're there, thats another dollar in the corporations pockets, whilst at the same time, the American middle class is footing a bill they can't even afford.

Bush should give his final (FINALLY!) SOTU tonight live from the streets of Baghdad. he can tell the Iraqi people DIRECTLY, how incredibly LUCKY they are that he (Bush) has dedicated his legacy to liberating them. The sheer enthusiasm and love of freedom in the eyes of the Iraqi's should inspire Americans from all sides to see just how important this mission has been and how our President's vision of 'Freedom for All' is helping make the world more democratic and safer for us at home.

It's your last chance George, dont blow this one too.

Ron Paul is the exception.

Do you have some filter that only lets you see the foreign policy and not the domestic policy? Ron Paul have voted against the chips bill, fought against the energy independence bill. Ron Paul is perfectly happy with the failure of the Federal Government.

Domestic policies filter?
If Barack Obama had gotten caught with his admitted drug use, would he be in prison, and would you prefer that? Ron Paul would pardon non-violent drug offenders on entering office.
The bozo "War on drugs." Any dems talking about that, and the costs to society, besides Ron Paul?
Health freedom! Are the Dems protecting access to nutritional supplements? Vitamins, herbs, amino acids, minerals, bio-identical hormones? I wish!

Wow, the trolls are out for the Sorry-Assed State of the Union address!

bushs impeachment rescheduled for Monday, February 4th, 2008.

bye!

Looks like Jimmy ran away.
Pity, I'd really like him to read what I have to say:
Put your money where your mouth is and sign up to fight in Iraq. Otherwise you're plain rotten, because you're supporting the gruesome act of war as long as somebody else dies for you.

We don't "attack" your kind because we disagree with you. We attack your kind because the way you think is utterly despicable.

The video claims that 1/2 of the 2007 federal budget went to military defence, not including Iraq.

Though we spend way too much on defence and war, I could not find any information that supported this claim. What I found puts military spending somewhere between 20-25% of the total budget for 2007 (not including Iraq & Afganistan).

Can anyone provide a link to a reliable statistic that supports the video's claim?

hey sitemonitor,

I am offended by the preznit gee dumbya, can you please delete him and reset the clock on the past 8 years?
