Al Wynn (D-MD) Blames "Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy" In Primary Challenge
By Nicole Belle Tuesday Jan 29, 2008 8:38amSeriously, Al. Stop. It's just embarrassing now:
I'm reading through this complaint the Al Wynn campaign just filed against Donna Edwards with the FEC. He literally accuses SEIU, the League of Conservation Voters, Friends of the Earth, Anna Burger, EMILY's List, the Arca Foundation, ACORN, and the Tides Foundation of campaign finance violations, though as you can see it's kind of hilarious what independent experts think. [..]
First of all, the complaint is signed by Lori Sherwood, Al Wynn's campaign manager and a former Comcast lobbyist. Here's Wynn in the Baltimore Sun.
"There seems to be a vast, dare I say, left-wing conspiracy designed to circumvent campaign finance laws," Wynn told reporters during a conference call. "Within this scheme, her supporters are coordinating efforts to exceed fundraising limits and engaging in illegal campaign activities."...
An attorney with the independent Campaign Legal Center in Washington who was asked by The Sun to review the complaint said it didn't appear to contain any facts that would constitute illegal collaboration.
"Interestingly, and unlike most complaints filed with the Federal Election Commission, there's not a single provision of federal campaign finance law directly cited in the complaint," attorney Paul Ryan said. "Several of the allegations, in my view, make clear the complainant doesn't really have a clear understanding of what constitutes coordination under federal law."
Of course, Wynn is quite familiar with dirty tactics. In 2006, his staffers beat up a Donna Edwards volunteer, he faked endorsements from among others SEIU and the Teamsters in his mailings, and he probably masked illegal corporate contributions. Read on...
Donna Edwards is one of our Blue America candidates. If you want to be part of the "vast left-wing conspiracy" to get rid of Bush Dog Al Wynn in favor of a progressive candidate, you can contribute to Donna's campaign here.

Too bad...so sad :-(
I am not that vast...really!
I do believe it's high time we required every candidate to pass a mental competency test before running for office.
The best part about this is that the Baltimore Sun had an independent elections lawyer look at the complaint, and the guy basically said that Lori Sherwood doesn't know what she's talking about.
Bwuahahaha....
The tulips are blooming in "February." Begin Operation "Tofu Granola Tree Bark."
Wynn's trying to sound like Hillary did 16 years ago with the "Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy" remarks directed at Donna Edwards.
While Hillary was correct in asserting that the ReThugs had a hard-on for Bill, all Wynn is doing is showing the desparation he's smelling that he's pissed off enough voters in Prince George's and Montgomery Counties to the point they're telling him his time of shucking and jiving in Congress while screwing over their interests, is over.
I'm wearing out shoe leather for Donna Edwards in Maryland on Saturday.
I'm surprised someone hasn't threatened to sue the paper yet for printing this. They usually try and stay one step removed on their editorial pages, but in a case like this where someone is making a ton of accusations claiming law-breaking, they usually do a quick fact check before they jump on the libel wagon.
Hell, in Minneapolis, the Star Tribune once sent a letter to a candidate that was notorious for this sort of trickery and said they'd sue HER if she sent in any more baseless letters.
Wow. This is my district and I have to say my immediate reaction is that I'm embarrassed. Al Wynn has to go.
Translation for Mr. Wynn : "Wah wah wah."
Karma's a bitch. There's the door... what's your hurry?
Get rid of all the "BUSH DAWGZ"!!!!
The Political Junkie @ 6:
Great. I hope Donna kicks Wynn's ass as a big f--k you to the Democratic establishment. The best people need to win, not the anointed party incumbents.
BMW:
He can't rig or steal anymore elections like he did back in 2006. 5000 Montgomery County voters didn't get to vote because they didn't get their ballots delivered to the precinct polling booths.
Wynn won re-election by 2800 votes - it was suspected those votes Donna Edwards lost were the Montgomery County voters who didn't get to vote.
Wynn was heard on the floor of Congress saying "A win is a win" and virtually challenging anyone to charge he rigged the non-delivery of those ballots in Montgomery County, because they were trending towards Edwards. Matt Stoller flat out said Wynn stole the 2006 election from Donna.
He can't turn those tricks again - so he's slinging mud and hoping something will stick. He forgets that Donna Edwards is a lawyer by profession and would be more than ready to respond to any charges of FCC violations in campaign contributions, because if she did, he'd have to fire the airhead Campaign manager, Lori Sherwood, for having ties to Verizon, a big campaign contributor to Wynn.
He can't fling any mud without getting it on himself.
“vast left-wing conspiracy”
So that's what the kewl kids are calling Constitutional Democracy now?
another fucking repug in dem clothing.
these guys will lie that they mothers did not give birth to them.
I had no idea I was so effective!
See ya later, Al. Don't let the door hit you in the ass. A fucking crook to the core.
Wow. Can we spell paranoia kids?
The Political Junkie @ 12:
