Mike's Blog Roundup
Sensen No Sen: It's startling to realize that only a small minority in the Senate are working to form survellance laws within the framework of the Constitution.
Beggars Can Be Choosers: Wikipedia continues to sanitize its Bush content.
Evolution of Security: The TSA's blog. Got a comment on how they've been keeping us safe by confiscating cigar cutters and bottled water...and searching Al Gore's carry-on? Or a heartwarming anecdote to share? Now's your chance.
Daily Kos: Former Marine and Naval officer, Montel Williams, lectured the stunned hosts of Fox and Friends on the stupidity of spending hours on the death of Heath Ledger, rather than covering the war in Iraq. A few days later, Fox stations chose not to renew his show.
The Black Commentator: Larry Pinkney thinks Barack Obama is "bamboozling America." (h/t Make Them Accountable)
OFF THE BEATEN PATH: The Root, Watching America, Lez Bang!, propaganda critic, redblueamerica

I would guess that montel was not up for renewal any way and decided to go out with a bang. Either way... meh. They'll fill the slot with another show just like it and no one will notice.
democracynow.org:
Study: 1 Million Iraqi Deaths Caused by U.S. Invasion
A leading polling group says more than one million Iraqis have died as a result of the U.S. invasion. The Britain-based Opinion Research Business found one-fifth of thousands of households interviewed had at least one death linked to the occupation and ensuing sectarian violence. The survey has a margin of error of 1.7%. The million-figure could be higher because researchers were barred from the volatile regions of Kerbala and Anbar.
Thanks George,

I've always considered Montel one of the good guys... He'll be a good replacement for Chris Matthews.
wikipedia is a reflection of the american mindset.
i have tussled with many of the value, credibility and accuracy of wikipedia (which i argue is of limited value, and zero credibility), but i think it helps expose one of the festering sores on the nation's weaknesses: the inability to accept things as they are, resulting in the rejection of logic/truth/facts, the revision or discounting of history, and the attempt to put everything into a he said/she said construct. it has served the bush-apologists, the science-deniers, market fundamentalists, and the america-can-do-no-wrong crowd well, though.
majority rules is good for democracy, but not for knowledge.
gee, that Black Commentator dude sure makes a nice, barely-literate case against Obama. wow, I'm convinced. of something. yup.
onceler @ 6:
I can have some empathy for what he has dealt with in his lifetime but, should all black men have to go through the same experiences. I thik not.

What? The questions themselves were not only perfectly coherent, they were ones that I've been asking myself for some time now: How exactly does Barack Obama plan on 'bridging the gap' between Republicans and Democrats? How will he transcend party lines to please all politicians? What concessions will he have to make?
Furthermore, the article was written by Melissa McEwan of the "Shakespeare's Sister" blog. Are you sure it was the article that was, as you say, "barely-literate" (which doesn't even make sense, since articles can't be literate)?
The TSA, along with the airlines, is protecting our safety by making flying such a pain in the ass that even terrorists don't want to do it anymore. Even Osama doesn't think restoring the Caliphate is worth all the five-hour delays at O'Hare during the dry runs.

Irony!
I read the second link - the questions for Barack Obama. I assumed the first link was merely to the site's main page. In any event, I apologize - but encourage you to read those questions for Barack Obama! They're quite sound.
ThunderMonkey @ 4:
Wait! I thought Tweety was going to Faux to replace Montel!??
They must have seen us comming...
Here is my story. back in 2004 when they had all the message boards on Interstate 95 in Maryland lit up with "REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY. CALL 1-800-XXX-TIPS" I saw a guy dangling from a rope under a bridge on Maryland Route 32 about 2 miles from Fort Mead where the NSA is located so i called the number. (I am not paranoid but i am opposed to violence and you never know.) I got a recording that said i needed to go to their website to file a report. I went to the website.
It told me to "REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY. CALL 1-800-XXX-TIPS"
Anyone else hear that mann coultrix has said she'll support clinton if crazy grampa gets the gop nomination? Just another one of her pointless rants but still... it's always amusing to watch a the grand ol' pervs party fall apart.
In fact... if the gop were a bear it would be rabid, have three of it's four feet caught in traps and it would be working furiously to gnaw off the fourth one.

Larry Pinkley ? Yuh, he's an idiot. Without actually saying it, he's saying Barack isn't black enough. Wonder where he got the stuff about Barack being a part of the Military Industrial Complex ... Maybe FOX noise?
I'm not saying I will vote Barack (too early to tell) but if he is the last of the Opposition to the GOP, then he has my vote. The GOP has to be stopped, they are no long the Republican Party, they are kind of a mix of what is left of the John Birch Society mixed with Project for the New American Century (PNAC) and the NeoCon group. Their goal, easy ... take over the world by force, starting with the oil producing nations and ending with the whole pie.
Take back America!
Barack Obama has a common sense approach to bridge the gap by communicating with the opposition. Though in my opinion, the best way to bridge the gap in to have an overwhelming majority in the House and Senate.
I'd have to agree that Larry Pinkley's post is not worthy of link here. Melissa McEwan makes some very good points.
"Barack Obama, is but a more articulate, younger, and shinier version of the current and infamous US Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, adorning himself dangerously and abundantly in superficiality and double-speak." - The Black Commentator
Annnnd... that's where ya lost me, Black Commentator. Other than being black male lawyers, Obama and Thomas have approximately nothing in common.
Say it isn't so Montel. Now who will we turn to! Who will be able to have Psycho Sylvia Browne on to show her amazing psychic abilities to be accurate in her predictions 0% of the time? Who will answer the question:"Who is the baby's daddy?".....
Montel... Sorry dude. Don't cross the fox!

I thought I answered that above: Chris Matthews

Hahahaha.......I can see it now!!! Today on the All New Chris Matthews Show......Transvestites in public office, is it good for America?

Larry Pinkley ? Yuh, he’s an idiot. Without actually saying it, he’s saying Barack isn’t black enough
That's pretty much what I got out of it.
Fanon @ 22:
He seems to think Obama is "shiny" though.
John McCain....."YOU 'ARE' THE FATHER!"......opps,that's Maureeee
Marcy Wheeler (Emptywheel) the best thing going over at Firedoglake has kept her laser like attention on the illegal wiretapping and the destruction of FISA laws ...continuously. Go check out her pieces the last few days.
Here is a very important piece by Richard Clarke Marcy is encouraging folks to send it to our reps.

MakeThemAccountable is a service that I've found to be anti-obama. It is a waste of time blog in my opinion.
Th link is bad--missing the g form blog.
http://www.tsa.gov/blog/
The TSA blog: "Hey, we're fascists engaging in show security to make you feel safe, but at least we're friendly fascists! We have a blog!"
Seriously, I'll take my security news from Bruce Schneier.
I am terribly sad that Edwards has dropped out. But what I want to share is what Senator's Clinton or Obama have to do to get this 55 year old soccer moms vote.
Hillary voted for the Kyl Lieberman amendment in Oct of 2007, Obama just happened to be our of town the day of this critical vote. (yeah right Obama is an anti war candidate) Why did he choose to miss this opportunity to demonstrate that he is indeed against any more unnecessary warmongering against Iran or any other nation in the middle east that has not threatened the U.S. They both lost me over this warmongering amendment.
If either one comes out in strong support of diplomacy with Iran, Syria and are willing to be far more fair and balanced on the Israeli Palestinian conflict...they will have me.
Until then not sure who I will vote for.
Two you tube clips that explain the Kyl Lieberman amendment or you can go read the amendment

This is where Edwards won me over once and for all

It would be a better fit... perhaps they can trade.
It's pretty standard stuff for right-wing internet users to try and get themselves into positions of power for the purposes of internet censorship. They just seem predisposed to it. Something similar happened to an evolution-creation debate forum a few years ago where a conservative creationist managed to get himself into the admin position and began a campaign of deleting and changing the posts of evolution supporters. It was quite a scandal there at the time.
I wouldnt be surprised if there was a self-appointed pro-bush team dedicated to rewriting wiki 24/7.
I'm still holding out for the Hillary-Obama ticket. Or vice versa.
This is off topic, but it needs to be stated somewhere. A new AP report came out today stating Arlen Specter is "very concerned about the underlying facts on the taping, the reasons for the judgment on the limited penalties and, most of all, on the inexplicable destruction of the tapes."
How do these guys keep their jobs? Why isn't he questioning the destruction of CIA tapes, and millions of lost emails with such vigour? Curious minds would like to know.

Too bad they removed that page; i'm in the mood to get myself put on a list or two today.
I read Larry Pinkney's article, and I became a little outraged. What an old mindset. When he goes after Obama with the "house negro" line that's when my head exploded. I guess my former mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick of Detroit, mired in scandal, would be "field negro" enough for him? Yes, Pinkney is saying that Obama is not "black enough." Gimme a freaking break. It's a good thing that Obama is married to a black woman, cause Pinkney would certainly have gone after him for that.
Can I have enough racial stereotypes in this comment? Compared to Pinkney's "essay," I don't think so.
Larry Pinkney's article is a load of execrable racism.
Monel Williams gone? Feh.
Talk about mixed feelings: the guy went out well, but never talked about ANYTHING but ratings catchers on his own forum. He was an active encourager of the Dumbing-Down of America, and as such doesn't deserve any sympathy.
He's got one shot, in my view: if he continues in the theme of his last FOX appearance, then good. If he actually speaks for responsibility in broadcasting, then good. It's certainly happened before (see also: David Brock, "Blinded by the Right").
Can't wait to see James Randi's take on this little blurb - though I can guess!
Everyone should go on over to The Huffington Post and read Alec Baldwin's column about the so-called regular folks who live on the East End of Long Island--aka The Hamptons--and how much they love black people. It is sickening, scary and very sad.
