Giants Win the Super Bowl!
By John Amato Saturday Feb 02, 2008 9:12pmGreatest Super Bowl win of all time! Eli Manning goes down in history--beating the great Tom Brady and derailing the perfect season. It can be debated that the Jets had the greatest win of all time against the Colts in SB III, but right now I'm going with this team....
Update: Tom Coughlin out coached Bill Belichick! He'll regret passing up a 49 yard field goal in the third quarter that could have upped their lead to 13-3 and took a shot on a fourth and thirteen play. It was a strange call....The NY media tried to run Tom out of town all last year, but the team rallied around him this season. It was a classic New York/Boston game.
Steve Spagnuolo also gets mad props as the first year defensive coordinator for the Giants---who put together an incredible game plan that kept the pressure on Brady all night long.

Ah, shit.
What a nailbiter. They fought incredibly hard for it.
Awesome finish. Glad I only watched the last quarter.
The Horror... Not that I give a rats ass about NE, I'm an Eagles fan. A year of already obnoxious New Yawk fans...OMG
Did anyone see Obama's commercial. Someone said he was going to run one, but I didn't see it.
Ditto on the greatest game ever. A true come from behind victory. Wow.
guess thats bye bye Randy Moss,
and ya, Giants fans are the worst, I live in NY, therefor I know.
I'm happy for Eli. Now he's out from under his brother's shadow.
Wayne and Jane, wherever you are... congratulations!
Thank you, Eli. Probably the best Super Bowl since Panthers - Patriots a few years ago.
New England needed to be smacked down a notch...
Congrats on a great win.
Even though I am a long time Giants fan, going back to the 1960s, I thought the Giants had about as much of a chance of winning the Super Bowl as the Iraqis have of hoping that the United States will remove its troops and its bases as quickly and as rapidly as possible from their country. When Manning somehow managed to evade the grasp of the Patriots on the Giants' winning drive, he reminded me of another more elusive #10 who played for the Giants those many years ago, Fran Tarkenton. That last drive, that incredible catch by Tyree, seemed as if the Giants were destined to score and win the Super Bowl, which all the so-called experts thought was not going to happen. Simply an amazing, amazing game and victory by the Giants.
Congratulations tyree and Eli!!! lol.
I'm an Eagles fan and I only watched the last half of the game which was the best part of the game, especially the last minute.
Good game
The good guys won. Now I can safely say it: "Cheaters never win."
Grats, ny. That's why they say defense wins superbowls.
Giants win!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it counts!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great win and yeah to Eli Manning....That Giants Defense was simply awesome tonight!!!
Tom Brady is still an excellent quarterback!!!!!
Who cares?
'best ever' is a bit of a stretch...but a great game. Giants D-line dominated...
pro sports is a cancer eating away at this country.
it's an opiate.
it's the pinnacle of consumerism.
it's part of the plutocracies toolbox...when combined with beer and tits and ass...you have the ultimate distraction!
repeal habeas corpus?
stfu the game's on!!!
McDaniels should've called for the spread offense more often and the Pats' O-line looked foolish.
A great win for the Giants.
Amazing season for the Patriots.
11 days until baseball!
Congrats Giants.... However...
"WE ARE THE 9ERS... DON'T GET IN OUR WAY...TEAM OF THE 80'S... AND WE CAME TO PLAY"

chill out
politics is very important, but sometimes you just gotta smoke some weed or have a few drinks and just relax
it’s part of the plutocracies toolbox…when combined with beer and tits and ass…you have the ultimate distraction!

Dude, you need to dial it down before you pop a blood vessel.
This is not a zero-sum equation - just because we want to watch the game and cheer doesn't mean we are taking energy away from the things that matter.
You can't be angry all the time - that's the path to self-destruction.
I was thinking, "What if the Patriots win all year and lose the one game that REALLY counts?"
BWAHHHHH, go GIANTS! Doesn't New England have enough championships?
It's not like they're in a drought anymore... :-)
Amazing game, one that actually lived up to the hype. The real heroes was the Giants defensive line. They were in Brady's face all night, rushing him, hitting him, and forcing momentum to their side of the ball.
Now, how many days until Spring Training opens?
budda @ 22:
Yeah, budda. I'm with you on that one. Sometimes you need to take a break from the more serious side of life. Laughter... the best medicine along with some of that other stuff you referred to.
Zastrozzi @ 20:
11 days until baseball...being from the Bay Area and therefore a fan of Bay Area baseball, I'm not sure if I'm going to be that excited this year. What's worse than a lousy team with Barry Bonds? One without.
Of course this was an amazing Super Bowl. Even though I had nothing personal at stake here, I feel for the Patriots. Imagine losing a perfect season in the last two minutes of the Super Bowl! That has to hurt.
When does the World Cup start = for some real excitement?
You are a fucking idiot. I know what an opiate is, and sports do not get me nearly as fucked up as opiates.
Dumbass.
marko @ 19:
marko @ 19:
So, what do you suggest? Politically correct operas? People *like* sports. We are fully capable of enjoying sports and being politically aware.
And don't you think about touching my beer.
The New Jersey Giants win the Superbowl, Rudy Giuliani quits the Presidential race, and Dubya is still an arsehole...all is right with the world.
GO LEAFS GO!
Life is good. Now if Pelosi and Reid would grow a pair and the Rangers would fix the powerplay I'd be a very happy man.
This is a good sign for this to turn out to be the year of the underdog defeating the cheating establishment. Obama08!
My only problem with this win is that we have to endure more crap from the highly overrated members of the '72 Dolphins. Anyway, I'm happy for Eli Manning because he went through so much crap.
a slow start and mediocre game due to solid defense, but what an awesome finish by the giants. i stayed up all night (it's 4:40 am this side of the atlantic) but it was worth it.
congratulations to manning and tyree for that awesome play in the 4th quarter.
ARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHHHH Motherfu$%^%...
That sucked hardcore. Man...I was hoping for no huddle..what worked? Quick passes to Welker...do that all night and you control the clock and the game...I do wish the refs had managed to call a couple of holds on the Gmen but congrats to them for making plays when it counted.
Trucker Doug @ 25:
Try two weeks, pitchers and catchers report to Arizona or Florida. I can't wait, especially in light of the steroid scandal - we'll see players under their own power and not chemically enhanced.
Best outcome possible for the game. I've no horse in this race, but way to go Eli.
Brother Peyton should be winning Superbowls every year, but way to go to the lesser mortal who never gave up.
BTW, that's brothers quarterbacking teams to championships. Too bad Archie never had the opportunity.
great win by the giants
the pats are the most classless teams in the nfl...led by the most classless coach
guess the pats finally ran out of hgh
Agree with the assessments given. The Giants defensive line came through big time today. I really expected them to run out of gas in the 4th quarter considering how often they blitzed but they came to play all 4 quarters. I wonder how many of the Giants players will be complaining about Tom Coughlin's hard core ways now?
Congratulations to the Giants. Today, you were the better team. I wouldn't have believed it and couldn't believe it, even as I watched it. My hat's off to them.
Now I have to go back to work (the game ended at noon on Monday here in Japan, I watched it on the sly, ducking my boss for the entirety of the game). :-(
Just like the Republicans are going to go down. Permanently in our country.
Go NY!!! I am so happy they derailed the perfect season. As for Miami fans continuing to be able to talk shit, I don't see how. The 72 Dolphins folder in the playoffs too, so at best, they can say they were about as good as the modern day Pats. Big deal. By that measure the 85 Bears are the best because even though they lost one, they still took the trophy home.
Congrats to the Giants, even though I'm a Chicago guy.
ronhohn @ 28:
90 minutes of no scoring and guys making like they have broken limbs when someone touches them is exciting? I attended FIFA matches while I was in the Army. Boring as hell, until I realized that no one was there to actually watch the game, but rather drink beer and eat brautwurst.
Steve Humphreys @ 5:
That was a great game. Giants won. Yea!! And a good come from behind victory. The Giants really kept the pressure on the Patriots.
I did see the Obama commercial during halftime. I think it was like 15 seconds.
Even though I'm pulling for Obama, I didn't think political commercials should have been part of the festivities. From what I remember there was an anti-Iraq war scene in the commercial which I thought was neat. True, it's freedom of speech and more power to Obama for putting out a ton of money to air during the superbowl. But political stuff should be put aside for just a few hours.
uncle joe mccarthy @ 39:
Or ran out of video tape to cheat during plays, LOL
Best Super Bowl ever. Ole Miss fans everywhere rejoice (for a change).
uncle joe mccarthy @ 39:
Yeah, would it have killed Belichick to give a decent multi-syllabic post game interview? Probably so.
Awesome, awesome game though!
marko @ 19:
Some of what you say might be true. I do not totally dismiss all of what you said nor resent your opinion.
Have you ever read the works of Dave Zirin? He is up your alley if you want to read someone who critiques the sports culture. Although, sports has done a lot to help further social causes from Jackie Robinson to Martina Navritilova to Tiger Woods. Red Auerbach integrated the Boston Celtics long before it was a popular thing to do in professional basketball. There is social value associated with sports as well as many of the obscene things you have mentioned.
Following sports these days is a dilemma for those whom are socially conscious. Like anything, one must pick and choose what one watches and listens to. As far as I am concerned, the sound is mostly on mute and in between commercials I get up. One does not have to watch/listen to the commercials nor listen to the hype before and after the games are over. That is purely one's own choice to make.
All in all, I watch very little in the way of sporting events. I did watch the NFL playoffs following both the Giants and the Patriots. Had neither of them been in the Super Bowl, I doubt the game would have been watched. I have missed some Super Bowl's over the years. I like baseball and basketball the best.
Thus, watching sports is fine, as long as one does so without forgetting other parts of life. There needs to be various outlets and interests for people to get involved with. I can think of much worse things than watching sports on TV, however, it may not be to your liking.
Take care for now!
NYc sucks. Manning's a hick. Pats got jobbed.
One of the best I've been around for, right up there with another Giants' win over Buffalo back in the day! I was sick and tired of "team of destiny" and everyone writing the Giants out. At least that last 45 minutes was exciting and a great diversion from a normal Sunday in Utah.
Erroll @ 11:
YES. I met Fran Tarkenton and got his autograph at a practice in the Bronx back in the day when I was 13. This game tops all. It is a glorious victory for the Giants against overwhelming odds.
Wow, I'm exhausted. Going to watch the interviews now...Yes and as you know I'm a huge sports fan....:-)
I've been a big Yankees fan all of my life, and the Rangers Cup in 94 was the greatest sports moment of my life...UNTIL THIS!!!
Giants - greatest sports moment of my life.
Giants defensive front four had the best Super Bowl from one of those units since the Steel Curtain in Super Bowl IX. Just outstanding! Tom Cool couldn't find a rhythm all night. Moss was shut down for the first 3 quarters. The only Patriot who had a really good game was Wes Welker.
Hardly. Stick to politics.
Joe Strummer @ 49:
Lllllooooos-ah-herrrr!
Andy K @ 54:
This I fully agree with. They kept that game close, even though they got tired in that TD drive late in the 4th by the Pats. But I believe Justin Tuck should've got MVP. Course that doesn't happen, but he shoulda.
Can't stand the Mannings but what can you say - an inspiring win is an inspiring win.
Great game.
Congrats Giants.
The NFL analysts were dead wrong except for Ditka.
marko @ 19:
when you stop playing...that is when you get old

Glad that's over. Wait? There was a game? Who cares.
That 4th and 13 certainly was a strange call. All honor to the Giants defensive line, even though they ran out of steam during the 4th quarter. I'm looking forward to the next column of ESPN's Bill "That's why I predict the Patriots will crush the Giants" Simmons. The insufferable '72 Dolphins will sleep well tonight. Finally, "That's why they play the game". It's wonderful to invoke that old chestnut on a night that will be remembered by America's opiate eating football fans.
Dr. Matt @ 55:
Your right , Dr. Matt, if you're thinking it's not the greatest win of all times. But it's up there.
1) Jets over Colts
2) Pats over Rams
3) Today's game
4) Giants over Bills
5) Pats over Panthers
You're
Very boring game.
Our Lifestyles not negotiable.
Boring? The world's most popular sport? The greatest sporting even in the world? The only team sport with a true world champion, 189 countries take part?
No scoring? What about it? No scoring in boreball is called 'a great pitchers' duel'? The Super Bowl, a one hour event took what? 4 hours? And only 3 scores and a FG? Why is it called football. moving the ball with feet totals about one minute of the marathon.
HAHAHA! Bill Belicheat screwed up and decided not to cheat until the 4th quarter and it was to late.
Pats will only be remembered for being one of the biggest chokers in football.
What a great game! I thought many of the commercials were good too. If it wasn't for the pause function on my DVR, I wouldn't have been able to tear myself away from the t.v. for anything!
Joe Strummer @ 49:
Oh yeah? Well Cut the Crap ate ass and the Mesqualeros were a glorified bar band. Nyah nyah nyah
Giants should go to Iraq.
Maybe they can win there.
AWESOME!!!
THE BEST TEAM WON!
THAT WOULD BE THE NFL CHAMPION THE NEW YORK GIANTS!
For the next year, they will be the DEFENDING NFL CHAMPIONS!
Partlow @ 57:
I was thinking either Tuck or Osi- until Eli pulled that Houdini act, and completed that pass to Tyree. I'll grant that Tyree's catch was amazing(though still not Swann in SB X), but if Eli gets sacked there, the game is as good as over.
One thing that made me very happy in this game is that there was no Yepremian/Lett moment of football stupidity. It wasn't the best game ever played- both offenses sputtered all on their own at times, but it was exciting. But it still goes in at #3 on my biggest win list because the Giants had little business beating this previously unbeaten team.
CoIntelPro @ 71:
Great we have diversion eh?

I'm also a Birds fan, but I couldn't help but root for Giants. Congrats to them.
Greatest SUPERBOWL win of ALL TIME.
Modern day Gladiators.

Football can be great, but if I ever see another World Cup decided on PK's I'll plotz. But I'm still juiced from Liverpool's win over Chelsea in the Champion's League last spring.
miss_kitty @ 75:
Yeah, thanks...That's what all the girls tell me.
L.A. Confidential @ 74:
YES! With the loss of Kucinich and Edwards, I needed this, to be quite honest.
Trucker Doug @ 31:

Andy K @ 80:
I thought so, you tramp!
Who'd have thought that Archie Manning was such a stud ? TWO Super Bowl winning sons ! Great game , Eli !
Not the finale in Manchester United vs Bayern München in the 1999 Champions League Final?
The most disturbing ad was the one with Bill Frist and James Carville. Carville is a hack and a sell out for even appearing in the same frame with that SOB.
Jets still own the greatest upset, due to the arrogance of the nfl in regards to the afl at the time, but this is number two,no doubt.but the best team of all time? the 1985 chicago bears, and i dont want to talk about it anymore,so i'm sticking my fingers in my ears an repeating over and over,"chicago bears, chicago bears, chicago bears........"
ronhohn @ 85:
Okay, here's the greatest football game of all time.
Footballs a little to right wing for me anymore.

Fact:Vince Lombardi was a Democrat.
There was a rumor in the lockerroom in Green Bay that one of his players was gay. An assistant coach approached Lombardi and suggested that the player be released. Lombardi, whose brother was gay, absolutely rejected the idea that the Packers cut that player.
Anyone notice that Belichick left the field before the game was over, without shaking Coughlin's hand? did I miss something?
Also watching all the post game crap, didn't hear anyone call out the pats for going for it on 4th and 13 on the Giants 25, instead of going for 3. WTF?
And how great is it to watch a superbowl 4th quarter game winning drive with a 4down conversion, unbelievable sack escape and a mind blowing catch, that they'll be replaying forever?
Also, anyone who posts anything along the lines of 'who cares' is a loser troll. You don't care? Don't post.
Andy K @ 94:
Right. Okay.
Hey I taped the game and on that third and five pass to tyree there were three infraction 1st he was in the grasp second the left tackle had adalius thomas in a head lock and the right tackle had jarvis green both front and back of the jersey and when he peeled back adalius spun to chase him the right tackle reached up the back of adalius thomas shirt and was holding him yet again...where was the back judge looking ?...he had his back turned from the line of scrimmage watching manning throw the ball.
Missing four holding calls on one way is rediculous, watch the tape then talk
Ruthless People @ 86:
Carville has always been a hack. Besides if you can marry Mary Matalin, you can appear with Frist, by comparison he's human.

Nah, the Rangers was still cooler, but this rocked.

Belichick- not realizing that there was still time on the clock- came up before the final play and shook Coughlin's hand...And gave him a big hug!
Joe Strummer @ 50:
"Jobbed" ? How ?
C'mon--the Chowds got beat fair & square.....
Filthy Harry @ 95:
He shook it at :02 in some bizarre surrender with time on the clock and then left the field before the final snap.
Filthy Harry @ 95:
That catch by Tyree was sick/nasty. That and a touchdown made him my MVP. He's az pro bowl special teamer, mad props to him.
Also, anyone who posts anything along the lines of 'who cares' is a loser troll. You don't care? Don't post.

I'm going to bed with you- as usual- on my mind. Goodnight!
L.A. Confidential @ 96:
Read David Maraniss' bio of Lombardi.
I still say the entire ball did not cross the whole width of the goal line.
Germany was robbed.
They seem to forget:
Gary Lineker once said: "Football is a game with 22 people and in the end the Germans always win."
Just got back from watching the game. Giants showed some great defense with a few spectacular offensive plays. Manning's scramble and pass to Tyree, and Tyree's back stretch catch was probably the play of the game. Defensive games may be boring to some. But at least it wasn't a one sided blowout.
Only thing I can add that hasn't been commented on before was this Superbowl had the best halftime show I've seen (let alone even bothered to watch) in a long long time.
(And to top it off, I won $20 bucks on game.)
Also, the greatest post season run EVER was tonight.
NO OTHER Super Bowl champion played post season football to the winning level and degree of difficulty as these Giants, Tampa Bay, Dallas and Green Bay (23 below zero with the wind chill) ONLY to face an UNBEATEN team and WIN.
Remarkable.
ronhohn @ 106:
Well, of course Gary Lineker would say that.
I bet the Azzuri might think differently, though.
Andy K @ 101:
Kk, thx, I thought that might have happend and I missed it as I was busy jumping up and down, slapping high fives, beating my chest, grunting, hurling feces, thinking about voting republican. You know, lower primate behavior.
But in his post game interview he did seem to lack a certain graciousness.
Andy K @ 63:
In order of Excitement:
1) Today's game - Three 4th quarter drives, Awesome escape from four would be tacklers and awesome catch against one of the best defenders in history. Team of Destiny against the Unbeatable, 18-0 juggernaut. Destiny 1, Juggernaut 0!
2) Giants over Bills - NFL's most potent offensive team beaten and befuddled by blue-collar, hardworking, unsung, gritty, determined team that specializes in winning, even if it's ugly. Most exciting missed field goal in history.
3) Pats over Rams - NFL's most potent offensive team beaten and befuddled by blue-collar, hardworking, unsung, gritty, determined team that is the first team to eschew individual name recognition in the pre-game. Oh, yeah, there's that Belechick guy again with two weeks to prepare, just like #2. Game saving tackle with 2 yards to go makes it classic
4) Jets over Colts - game only dramatic because of shock value. It was out of reach when over-the-hill-but-still-great Unitas leads touchdown drive. Unquestionably the most significant Superbowl in history because it led to the merger, which eliminated half of the AFL.
5) Pats over Panthers - what?
flashbazzzbo @ 87:
1984 San Francisco 49ers.
The Defensive Coordinator, Spagnola? won that game for the most part with a some brilliant and lucky play by Manning at the end.

The entire Kennedy clan thrived on football.
Of course, this is just more elitist twaddle from the type of liberal who can't stand common people and is out of touch with what Americans enjoy. Americans enjoy sports. We like cheering for our team, enjoy getting out in the park and throwing the ball around, and yes, will pay money to watch people drive very fast and turn left. Feel free to look down from your ivory tower, but this is the population that will elect the next President.
BTW, I play a pretty good game of chess. Doesn't mean I want to watch two dudes sit for 60 minutes between moves.
odanny @ 109:
see the last pittsburgh superbowl win. look at their road to the superbowl and it was near identical to the giants.
The Pats win over the Panthers was just...dramatic! That game was a snoozer until the 4th quarter, then Bam! Bam! Bam! It took a lot for either of those teams to stay in it that long. It might not fit my list, but when you use the word exciting, that's definitely one of the top 5.
And, honestly, I was looking for a way to keep the Bronco's win over my Packers off of that list. So sub that one in there(of biggest wins) if you'd like.
As for the Jets win...They weren't supposed to be in that game at all, but they pwned the Colts. Not a great game, but an absolutely huuuuuuuge win. And it went a long way to ease the merger along. Before that game there were a lot of people thinking that the merger wasn't too smart.
iraqconcilable @ 85:
had archie played on a good team (and not the aints) he woulda won at least one superbowl

ill cry if the sf giants ever win the ws
I'm not really a Giants (or Patriots) fan but hats off to the New York Giants as they played their asses off and deserved the win. What a great game, and the Tom Petty half time show was great too. An all round great Super Bowl except the commercials sucked badly this year.
I'm somewhat disappointed that the Patriots did not finish a perfect 19-0. However, give credit to the Giants for coming to play tonight.
And, for the record, I think the greatest Super Bowl ever was 34, Rams over Titans.
You people, Americans, are morons!
1,000,000 (one million) people have died because your president, whom you elected, lied to you for your support and went to war. (any idea how many have died on his side?) But, now that you know he lied to you, how do you know that you are even getting this link because, everything that is being transmitted is being monitored and.. (censored?) What the FUCK DO YOU PEOPLE KNOW? Nothing! Because, you are fucked up with sports et al.
Need a diversion from your "terribly hectic life?" Try PEACE! And if that doesn't work.. try REVOLUTION you stupid fucks. Like you even know about what that's about.
Elect a president that represents someone who gives a shit next time. Or kiss the fuckin' world goodbye.
Like you would even fuckin' know about it 'cause of the touchdown in '92, or '98, or then there's "Brittany"..
Good Fucking Luck and Good Night!

This really was the greatest ending to a Super Bowl I've ever seen and I'm far from being a Giants fan. I've wanted this rematch to happen since Week 17 and it was better than I could have anticipated. Thankfully, the cheaters didn't completely prosper this season.
I've noticed a few posters bringing up that fantastic Pats/Rams Suberbowl. Unfortunately, it now appears Belichick may have cheated before that game too.
one of the greatest upsets in sports history. bar none.
The Champ is out.
So apparently they got Petty because Huey Lewis said no,
and Hall and Oates were already booked.
Next year they're getting the Thompson Twins back together.
As I'm a Giant fan I love the win and Eli had the faith to make it happen. It was a great game and could have gone either way. But once Eli did the hail Mary and got the touchdown it put the pressure back on Brady with little time on the clock. I remember the 1972 Superbowl with the only perfect time to win the Miami Dolphins.
Now I'm hoping for Hillary to win Super Tuesday and that will be the icing on the cake.
GO HILLARY WIN IT ALL ON SUPER TUESDAY.
CoIntelPro @ 118:
The Pittsburgh win at Indy, if that was the Super Bowl, would have come close, but the unbeaten Patriots were the toughest foe, and they got progressively harder. Dallas was the team to beat, then it became the Packers in the freezing conditions, then they only have to beat the "Team of Destiny" in the SB with only :35 left to play on an 83 yd drive.
"Murica got it's wish: a 10-6 average team stepped up late season and knocked off the top dogs, making their stressed out angry-white-man coach look like a genius. It works out perfectly too that the largest sports market in the land has not only the 'winning' team, but a QB, who like his brother, will be the perfect good ol' boy advertising whore for the next year to the highest bidders.
It is altogether appropriate that an average team steps up to quash what could have been perfection because we all know that the tapes the Pat's made were never viewed and made all the difference in the season. With regards to sports, I've never seen a bigger red Herring. Here's the REAL reason people hate on the pats:
http://dickipedia.org/dick.php?title=Tom_Brady
In any event, it is over and thank God 'Murica has a collective 20 minute attention span to forget it all tomorrow. It works out for the better this time for all that is good and decent.
Why folks hate on the Pat's seems to me as reasonable as why CONservatives hate on libs: Someone told them to do so they do it unquestioningly (ie. Rush, Hannity, Coulter, Falafel boy).
20 years from now a 16-0 season will be remembered and that they lost the big one will be remembered but no-one will remember who knocked them off. I guess a perfect season, like a higher standard of living and home ownership is something my generation doesn't get to witness.
Thank God for HGH as I can now live another 35 years to see someone give it another go!!

When the game was over: cheering was all over the place in Manhattan !! cars honking.. I wonder if Bloomberg will give them the Bwy parade downtown in the 'canyon' by the Wall Street. Usually ~ a mln show up, there were more, 2-3 mln sometimes. I've seen it many times from the top of the WTC where I worked for many years.
Right now there is big construction going on, on both sides of Bwy downtown, with Fulton Street MTA transportation hub, connecting to the PATH system under WTC/Ground Zero. Too much digging all over and dangerous for (unruly, excited..) crowds of such size. But, they might move the parade higher up - although not the same effect, there is no 'canyon' - and no way to throw 'confetti' on the winners (we would go visit bldgs just by Bwy, did throw loads of old computer printouts quite often ;) Tonnnns of paper, even not many bldgs had windows that could open...
My company didn't allow time off (we used to be the biggest WTC tenant. w/~ 20 floors), but all were closing the eyes, and praying no clients visiting on such a day: how to explain to them the time charges, as work for them, for which they had to pay, with pple celebrating .. I don't recall if there was ANY parade there since 9/11 ..
I think there will be parade for Giants wherever, just to channel the energy of 'obnoxious' NY fans - as someone said above.. Otherwise might get out of control.

lucky enough to pull away from four defenders and deliver the ball to someone who outjumps one of the best defenders in the game. that's the luck from sheer effort combined with opportunity.
CappuccettoRosso @ 141:
As per local news, parade on tuesday. not sure where.
Jackie @ 138:
You didn't have to spoil it w/Shillary for the rest of us..

Listen, 'one of us,' I am NOT!
If you do nothing but respond to what I wrote in this inane sports blog, you are a FUCKTARD PAWN.
Do you like thinking about throwing a dead baby around like a football? Your FUCKING ancestors did that in VIRGINNY with SAVAGE INJUN BABIES! The 'nobles' kicked INJUN heads around main street to relieve the boredom. Is it any wonder you FUCKIN' FASCISTS (not my coin, by the way..read the INTERNATIONAL news) haven't any idea what is being done in your name? It is no wonder, because you people are BLITHERING IDIOTS. If you don't believe me, ask your IDIOT PRESIDENT!
(or ask the person translating this into words from grunts if what I say is not the TRUTH)

He was never elected. Both times he cheated and stole the election. Look it up when you calm down. And FWIW, most every person on theis blog never cast a vote for the POS. If you want to shit all over the folks responsible for the fucker, I suggest you start trolling right wing sites.
In the meantime get off of our pecs, mate.
[adobe you're off topic and getting out of hand. Move this to an open thread and keep it civil-Sitemonitor]

What!? I'm a Carolina Panthers fan and I was jumping up and down like my feet were on fire!
That one catch should have secured David Tyree the MVP and the Cadillac Hybrid. Better yet, they could have given it to the entire Giants defensive unit, or even to Michael Strahan just for being Michael Strahan. But no, they always give it to a @%#in' quarterback. Eli was great, no doubt about it, but MVP? The defense won the game and Tyree saved Eli's ass.

Sorry.
Yep, more important than VE Day and VJ combined.
Yawn.
Like Hunter Thompson said: having a favorite [professional]...team is like having a favorite oil company.
They're all businesses, and who roots for an oil company?
That was a defensive tour de force by both teams. Great 4th quarter clutch play by Manning.
Congrats to the Giants. They rocked the casbah.
