Hardball Power Rankings: John McCain Is MASTER & COMMANDER!

icon Download | play icon Download | play

It's no secret that Chris Matthews has a mancrush on Senator John McCain, but I think he needs to take a step back and look at reality -- stat. During his Power Rankings on Monday's Hardball, Matthews contends that because John McCain is expected to do well on Super Tuesday and is likely to be considered his party's nominee for President, and has Rudy Giuliani stumping for him, he will LOOK presidential, therefore, he has the best shot to win the White House in '08.

So because McCain LOOKS presidential, tens of millions of Democrats will suddenly go brain dead and vote for a man who is running on a platform that runs counter to what they believe in and put another warmongering, anti-choice Republican who is despised by the base of his own party in the White House for another four years.

I put together a little mashup of the segment because by and large, there was little to be found outside the ordinary -- what is outside the ordinary (and logical thought) is Tweety and Howard Fineman somehow trying to make people believe that McCain already looks like the presumptive Commander In Chief and that both Obama and Clinton will have a hard time competing against him. Fineman actually brings up the Bay of Pigs...

In this case, looks could kill.

Didn't Chris Matthews at one point say it was McCain's time to be President because he put in his dues or something? The guy is certifiable.

And since Obama is black, ergo, he looks criminal. What about the woman? She must look whorish. (snark)

how exactly are candidates ranked on this "power ranking" crap? is it basically based on chris matthews 2 cents? isn't this a blatant attempt to influence the outcome of an election?

I use to be able to watch The Tweets with a sense of humor. Like watching the old Anna Nicole Show or more recently the Paul Abdul reality show.

But The Tweets has become so sad with his constant cancer cough, his pleading and pandering to stay on the air, and just is general lack of anything existing in the real world, that I can't stand him anymore. At some point, MSNBC will come to some sense and can his ass along with Fucker Carlson

McCain is a master and commander, all right, of BOREDOM. **crickets**

Any sane Democrat wouldn't vote for McCain. McCain's policies are the opposite of basic Democratic principles.

So, Alice followed the rabbit down the hole...

Chris has been reading too much "Iron John" by Robert Bly. Subtitled "A Book About Men"

He thinks McCain is the big hairy red man at the bottom of the lake.

You'd have to read the book to understand.

Please don't read the book.

McCain is past his time. He is part of the old guard with old ideas.

These people get paid (quite good money) to spew this crap! Amazing! Only in America!

McCain's plan for a better America is "more wars and less jobs".

McCain is barely number one among his own party's base, how is he number one is Tweety's power rankings? I guess he had to pick someone other than Rudy, so he just picked the person that Rudy is backing.

I'm looking forward to John McCain's tantrums. Tweety will report them as "showing strength".

Put Obama on the same stage with McCain....oh man...think Kennedy/Nixon debate.

McCain...master of his own domain.

Master and Commander is an innuendo for Master of the Negro and Commander of the Woman. It is no coincidence.
Sick bastards.

What are the power ratings? Can someone explain that to me?

Because right now it seems to me that it is something that belongs on a Saturday morning cartoon for kids (no offense there - I adore Batman and Justice League myself), and not on a "serious" (tee hee hee) TV "news" show?

The fools are the MSNBC management who keep tweety and carlson on their payroll, unless of course, they are saying what the management wants them to say. Do you think?

I think you're on the right track. What I heard was that Space Ghost scored some killer chronic, hooked up with a couple of the teenage mutant ninja turtles, got baked and somewhere around 3:00 AM they all came up with it at the SAME TIME!

What these payasos don't seem to accept is that record number of Democrats are turning out to vote for democratic canidates, and they won't mention McCain's lack of support from his fellow senators. BTW Fineman's dye job is really bad.

Chrissy...Chrissy...Chrissy. What a fuckin mess. I guess he's hoping for a McCrazy/LIEberman ticket. Isn't it time to invite Ann Coulter on again?

if i hear Mccain saying "my friends" one more time I will go crazy - you ain't my friend you old cook

Thanks for adding this, I wanted to put this in the post, but there was just too much to fit in. Democrats are turning out in record numbers, but that apparently means nothing to the media.

17,000 (three thousand turned away) showed up at 7:00 AM Saturday , many waiting for 30-60 minutes in freezing weather, in Boise fucking Idaho to see Obama. That speaks volumes. Something big is happening.

I'm sick and tired of Chris Matthews. Calling him Tweety Bird is being way too nice to this turd. I'm giving him my own nickname:

Chrissy. It rhymes with Missy, Sissy, and Pissy. I like it and I'm going to use it.

Actually, Frank Lunch on Insanity had a focus group who did indicate democrats are united. Of course they are trying to shore up the repuglicans.

I wish I could reach through my television screen and punch chris matthews slobbering filthy mouth!

Tweety must be using that new Rovian math. Using this formula and judging by the primaries thus far, more than 25% of Democrats would have to vote against their party and for McCatatonic. Not gonna happen.

Matthews is just a corporate pimp.
The real focus should be what financial interest, or interests, do his employers have in the outcome of the Presidential elections? What do they stand to gain leaving aside the benefits of having Republicans controlling the FCC?

Who owns MSNBC?

Chris has seen McCain's codpiece.

I've discovered that others have been calling Tweety "Chrissy", long before me. I feel both good about that and bad about that.

two things:

1) CM said he put McCain at #1 because he is the inevitable Republican nominee and therefore has a better chance to become president, since both Hilary and Barack have to still get the nomination first.

2) How can C&L continue to mention this "Power Rankings" nonsense with a straight face. Please stop taking CM seriously, he himself has obviously stopped.

Ben @ 32:

Wake up people. The fix may already be in.

Could Howard be right? Could Hillary be the candidate that the right wants to see elected? Like Howard I also believe she is the one candidate that will bring out the far right wing in droves to vote against anything Clinton.

McCain’s plan for a better America is “more wars and less jobs”.

But the unemployed can join the Military and we won't need a Draft to fight the Wars that McCain has promised when he gets in. Brilliant strategy on this Administrations part.

Was this really a "news show" on TV? I ask this as someone who quit watching TV several years ago. Why would anyone watch this crap? I mean, I couldn't even get through the clip. What tuned me out? That guy with the big mouth said his "rationale" for calling it for McCain was that he was the clear Republican candidate, therefore he got 50%, while Obama and Clinton were tied, so they both got only 25%. wtf? WtFF?

And that Howard guy was just stating his bone-headed opinions as if he were a seer, relaying a vision of future events. You know, like Omar the magnificent. But even Omar isn't this pompous and self-important. (I think his vision comes from somewhere nearer his nether orifice).

Fly away, Tweety.

You're drunk on the musk of manly Republicans. Did Fred's ball sweat dry up and leave you wanting? Do you miss his English Leather? Sounds like you lust for another daddy figure. Maybe McCain???

Fly away, Tweety.

Exokie @ 34:

The right has always wanted the nominee to be Hillary. Obama is the surprise they didn't expect. They eliminated Kucinich and Edwards. They have a plan but ours is better as long as we stick with a democrat.

There I was trying to find the meaning of "Wishful thinking" in an online dictionary. The definition given "What Tweety says" made no sense. Until now.

McLame + nuke button = end of life as we know it.
Flamethrower....now that's funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

whatever these people are smoking...i want some

first, whoever heard of averaging different polls??? i still want someone to explain to me why the polls on the dem side are all over the place? my only thought is, most dem voters are still undecided. so no matter what happens tomorrow, i wont be upset or surprised

second, whoever the dem nominee is, only has to make two simple commercials...

one.....the bomb iran song.....

two....the one from florida, where a befuddled mccain has to hand the mike over to holy joe and mel martinez

commander in chief???

and what is up with the bay of pigs comment??

Absolutely diz-gusting in every conceivable way.
I despise Chris Matthews. He's a smirking dissembling arsehole.
The other two clowns embarrassed themselves equally in this particular segment due to their loathsome squirming at the feet of Rush fucking Limbaugh. Ugh.

uncle joe mccarthy @ 41:

And don't forget the 100 years of war comment. On Fineman---just another MSM self important incompetent hack.

I thought Gore looked presidential. I thought Kerry looked presidential. And I think Barack looks presidential.

Just at taste of what we can expect about our Democrat presidents for the next 2 or 3 election cycles.

It's going to be the 90's all over again. All sound and fury, signifying nothing.

I hate the US media. Really.
Actually, hate is too mild for what I feel for them.

when the aging flyboy was put in a situation to engage the enemy on the ground, he surrendered his weapon. now he's a 70 year old getting his energy from human growth hormones. why aren't senators randomly drug tested? i quess random drug testing is only for the corporate help, not the crooks who made drug testing legal.

I like the background music at the start, so intense! It reminded me of the movie "Armageddon", only without Bruce Willis hitting golfballs at a greenpeace boat.

I just saw McCain for the first time in years on TV.
Holy cow, I had no idea the man has aged so much, so quickly.
I've held my tongue toward people mocking his age because I thought they were just pointless cheap shots but no, the man really is simply too old to lead our nation.
You need to have a lot upstairs to man the helm and as much as I respect certain aspects of Sen. McCain, he simply doesn't have it any more.

They were all so scared of Rush Limbaugh! That was embarrassing! Talk about the pot calling the kettle black, though. We've got these turds telling us now who our next president is going to be

Don't focus on Tweety, he's just a tool. Focus on his bosses and what their interests are.

Tonight's show was among the very worse....pandering deluxe. I just wish Fineman, or one of his other guests, would one of these days make some remark about it (even they look uncomfortable about it). In addition, listen closely to how Matthews talks about Hilary (hah!) or Obama....nothing much ever said about their character being uplifting. But I knew that McCain was going to milk to the extreme his POW years, in spite of the fact that in 2004 he was loudly proclaiming that Vietnam should not be an issue in a Presidential campaign........The good news is that since this is Chris Matthews, no one pays much attention to him at all.

I really think Dan Abrams is onto something with the whole thing about the media trying to make this into more of a race than it is. I really don't see McCain's appeal.

MSNBC has some interesting objective people in Dan Abrams, David Shuster, etc. Much as I love his show, Olbermann is biased as is Carlson.

Its one thing to have a political bias, and quite another to simply lie your ass off every night with impunity.Olbermann is doing some actual reporting.

Jeff @ 4:

It's a blatant attempt to salvage ratings. I believe Hardaball has really hit on hard times and this is some idiot producer's idea of spicing things up. The sports drink poweraid should sue for trademark infringement.

I think that McCain is the strongest Republican to run in the general election. He's a real veteran versus these arm chair warriors like Limbaugh and Cheney. He's being dissed by Limbaugh and the other wingnuts, which helps to distance himself from Bush's record.

I don't think he'll win, but I didn't think the Giants would win either. Whether the nominee is Clinton or Obama, come the general election, we better get a huge turnout and not take anything for granted.

I'm really sick of Chris Matthews and his irrational man crushes and retarded rationales to well, just about everything. Everytime i watch his horseshit predictions i get pissed off and disillusioned. How hard can it be to make an objective commentary about the current events in politics? I'm sure there are loads of people who could do a better job an would be more worthy of the hardballzz slot.

Ben @ 32:

I was wondering the same thing. It would be better to see posts that just joke about the cheesiness of the segments.

Symes says:
"Just at taste of what we can expect about our Democrat presidents for the next 2 or 3 election cycles."

Doesn't anybody say "Democratic" anymore when they should use the proper adjective? How pervasive the Republicans are with their "DemocRAT" pejorative. All Republicans use it, including the President. and now even the media until the misuse becomes the norm.

This is disgusting beyond belief. Chris Matthews? I want your hands up on top of the table, right now . . . . .
*

wow did you even listen to the clip before writing about it? I think it's quite strange for you to disregard completely how Matthews said he came up with McCain as #1. I've been noticing that a lot lately- I think you should really pay closer attention to what's on these clips you post before misquoting and distorting what's being said on some of them- don't you care about your integrity?

Newsweek's Ann Quindlen has a piece on the elephant on the campaign trail...John McCain's age. I know this country is all about political correctness, but I will say what I have been saying for weeks....the man is too old. I am no kid myself (60+), but I can't imagine a 71 year old man who is a surviving POW and former cancer patient being able to take the grueling pace of the presidency. John McCain's time was 2000 when he was in his early 60s. Too late now.

Too old. the guy sounded like a punch drunk fighter at the NH victory speech.

Some of these pundits are less able to predict voter behavior than the average person on the street. An example: Bill Bennett and others pooh-poohed that the news of Giuliani providing police escorts for his girlfriend when he was mayor would have any effect on his candidacy. That news may have actually been the final nail in his coffin. People don't approve of their married candidates having police escort their girlfriends around at tax payers' expense. There's a whole number of things wrong with that scenario. Why can't people like Bennett see it?

Why is everyone so quick to judge? He has a point. Of course Democratic voters wont vote for McCain but elections are always decided by the undecided. Note 04. Repubs and Dems candidates will always get 40% odd each. The rest is about neutrals or undecided. And to be honest, the fact McCain may (probably will) win strongly ahead of the other GOP's does mean he'll actually look sturdy. I'm not saying it's logical. But to your average person, maybe it will make that tiny bit of difference. To see Obama and Clinton squabbling over the precious few votes to push one of them over the line while McCain runs through each Primary with ease does give him an air of confidence. I'm not commenting on his policies or McCain as a person per say. Just the above analysis.
By the way, will Crooks and Liars retract any of their recent attacks against certain media outlets IF those media outlets predictions turn out to be true? I hate to break it to ya but going by my above points with regards to neutral and undecided voters, McCain has a VERY real chance of winning the election. In fact, more so than any other GOP candidate because he'll appeal to idiot neutrals who have both dem and repub leanings. You can whine all you want but thats the facts. The election is always decided upon a a tiny number of votes. And McCain has much more of a chance of pulling in the moderates and the centerists than Obama or Clinton.

The polls that show McCain leading all candidates are a laugh. Clinton, or Obama will slaughter John head-to-head. What a laugh. That is why we need to keep the pressure on the republicans, but after they have made their choice. I am a Vietnam combat veteran with 30 months experience. McCain did not learn a damn lesson from his service, if he is still willing to send America's young people to war. This loser has sold his honor, soul and self-respect for one-time to sit in the big chair.

Barack is the strongest against McCain. Its obvious.

I thought the writers are still striking - where does Tweety come up with this stuff?

Though I voted for Hillary I'm starting to see Obama as the McCain killer.

Wow! I wonder who Chris Matthews is voting for???? Hmmmmmm? So Hillary is a "she-devil" and McCain is the "Master and Commander"??? Geeze how balanced.

No Way McCain has a Shot...

1. Fear and war mongering against Iraq from the beginning;
2. Fear and war mongering against Iran up through the present;
3. No chance of a big time time career in politics if it weren't for spouse's money/connections; and
4. While a loyal tool for Big Business, pandering to social conservatives didn't fool anyone and probably alienated the base.

After this incompetent, shameless tool, this unqualified son of nepotism we call Bush, there is just no way many people could stomach a vote for McCain. He's identical to Bush in each respect, and I don't think the country's getting fooled this time. We couldn't be that stupid. Could we?

"So because McCain LOOKS presidential"

He looks white and male to me. Ladies and gentleman, your next president of the united states...

You're living in a dream world if you think a non-white male could possibly get elected. Wish I was wrong, HOPE I am wrong, not holding my breath.

Anyway, the first comment or so mentioned the cabinet/appointments...shouldn't that be an effing requirement for elections??? Oh, wait a minute, who'd want to have a beer with a potential secretary of state?

Looks presidential? An elderly squirrel looks presidential? WTF.

He looks older than his years, and not entirely alert, most of the time.

Master and Commander. LOL!

I'll repeat. WHITE. MALE.

Wish I had the faith of you all, but to think that this country is as progressive as Pakistan and let a woman or dark skinned person have a real position of authority, come on now...

Ronnie never looked all that alert and somehow he became a godamned diety. Don't worry about McCain's age.

And yet when old white guys blather on this way, they don't consider themselves as playing the race card and the gender card -- nor voters who'd pull the lever for McCain based on these "Presidential" attributes as doing so either. (Why, it's just objective good sense to vote this way now that Tweety's happy days of crotch-sniffing the folds of Fred Thompson's old man pants have come to an abrupt end!)

Remember, it's just the wimmins and black folk -- and "their" unseemly candidates -- who must be continually and pre-emptively castigated for superficiality, irrationality and being as potentially dense as the grizzled old men of Punditstan.

kerplunk @ 14:

I'm looking forward to John McCain's tantrums. Tweety will report them as "showing strength".

I hope he pulls at least one tantrum. I pray he isn't elected, I can't stand the sight of him. Maybe he will keel over before the election.

budda @ 22:

if i hear Mccain saying "my friends" one more time I will go crazy - you ain't my friend you old cook

I don't dislike Hillary like a lot of people do, but we must vote for the most electable candidate. We have to crush McCain.

Chrissy also had Rudi Guilianni winning the Presidency as well as Fred Thompson. I can't wait to have John McCain running in the GE....it's a vertible gift from the Gods. He can't raise money and all one needs for campaign ads is to show him "off the cuff". Chrissy seems hellbent on propping up the Republican Party, it still carries a grudge against the Clintons for not picking him as press secretary. This guy has got a serious bi-polar problem and it's always interesting to see which Chris Matthews shows up.

Master and Commander...what a joke. He's got a little too much attraction to Republican male testosterone if you ask me.

Bay of Pigs! Nice...

What is with these "power rankings?"

I don't believe it, dirtysanchez. The white male thing. Just don't think it holds as much power as it used to.

Maybe it's false hope, but I'm going to cling to it a bit longer.

AJ @ 79:

What is with these "power rankings?"

I think it is the politically correct way of saying: "pulled out of the arse"

Let's see. McCain is 70+. McCain can't control his short temper. McCain admits he knows little about the economy. McCain can't answer questions about education on the campaign trail. McCain says 100 more years of War if he thinks we can win someday. Can't we all see some mental dementia here. One of the first signs of dementia is angry outbursts.

Nothing will get the conservatives together- I mean, when THEY'VE LOST ANN COULTER (!) for godsakes...

Wanted Biden- he dropped. Wanted Edwards- he dropped. Stay Obama, stay..

John "Stray Talk Express" McSundowner looks residential to me...

"So because McCain LOOKS presidential, tens of millions of Democrats will suddenly go brain dead and vote for a man who is running on a platform that runs counter to what they believe in and put another warmongering, anti-choice Republican who is despised by the base of his own party in the White House..."

That's a trick question, right? Of course they will. What...you think they're suddenly going to go all rational? Now, that would be real change!

Don't forget, these are the same Democrats who nominated John Kerry because he was "electable." Talk about "brain dead."

A better question would be: After almost eight triumphant years of Warboy the Incompetent, will Americans start using their brains and elect someone who isn't
a dangerous lunatic?

My bet is...no.

PS I think Kerry endorsed Obama because he (Kerry) wants HRC to get the nomination.

Oh what a pleasure it's going to be to kick the asses of these Republican apologists and their wishful thinking.

Either Hillary or Obama will absolutely destroy McCain or whatever other poor bastard the Republicans dredge up.

Tally ho, boys!

No, John McKain is Gee Dumbya the Turd!

McCain Confirms It: A Vote for Him Is a Vote for a Third Bush Term

A BUZZFLASH NEWS ALERT
DNC Press

Washington, DC - During appearances on Fox News Sunday and CBS's Face the Nation, John McCain made it clear: a vote for him is a vote for a third Bush term. Echoing his earlier statement that we could be in Iraq for 100 years, he said again that he would continue Bush's never ending civil war in Iraq. "We have to take care of the world's security," McCain said.

"The choice between the Democrats and Republicans couldn't be more clear. A vote for John McCain is a vote for a third Bush term with a never ending war in Iraq and an economy that favors those at the top. A vote for a Democrat is a vote to bring our troops home from Iraq, for an economy that works for all Americans, and a return to America's priorities," said Democratic National Committee Press Secretary Stacie Paxton.

McCain: A Third Bush Term
"They want to have the government run the health care system in America. I want the private sector to do it. On the issue of national security policy, there are very sharp differences... They want to withdraw from Iraq and if we do that al Qaeda wins." [Face the Nation, 2/3/2008]

"I have a strong conservative record and I'm proud of that record and I also believe on the national security side it's going to be a clear difference between me and Senator Clinton or Senator Obama. A clear difference on whether we're going to increase spending or decrease spending, increase taxes or decrease taxes, whether we're going to withdraw from Iraq or we're going to see this thing through to the success." [Fox News Sunday, 2/3/2008]

McCain's 100 Year War in Iraq: "We have to take care of the world's security"
"...This strategy is succeeding. Ad I believe that if we had set a date for withdrawal or if we do set a date for withdrawal, al Qaeda will then win and we'll see chaos and genocide in the region. That's another significant difference that Senator Clinton and I have...and I look forward to discussing it. It's not a matter of how long Americans stay. It's a matter of American casualties. And those casualties are coming down and we can eliminate them. Look, we're in Kuwait right next door to Iraq. We're in turkey. We're in Bosnia. We're all over the world. One of the obligations, unfortunately, of being a great superpower is that we have to take care of the world's security." [Fox News Sunday, 2/3/2008]

McCain: More of the Same Bush Supreme Court
"I would appoint justices such as the ones I've strongly supported and gotten through the Senate with the help of many others or help along with others. Only those who strictly interpret the constitution of the United States and do not legislate from the bench... If you have justices that have a clear, conservative, a clear, strict interpretation of the constitution of the United States, then you don't have to worry about what their decisions will be." [Fox News Sunday, 2/3/2008]

Insane McCain Oldtimers Brain

It's gettin early, gotta go

Cripes, Rufus T. Firefly looks preznitdential, why not vote for him?

Only stupid chicken-hawks will support McCain. However, never underestimate the stupidity of Americans. Anyone who can vote for an AWOL coke-snorting frat-boy drunk would vote for McCain. I just hope he has a draft makes their asses fight.

Tweety in Bondage?

She knows if McCain wins, he'll be a disaster, he'll fracture the republican party and the progressive movement will pick up more steam. She won't be called to go on Insanity to defend him so she will be irrelevant. On the other hand, a Hillary win guarantees her the opportunity to crank out dozens of books in 4-8 years and to rail on every wingnut talk show wearing that same filthy little black cocktail dress she seems so fond of. She is one self-serving b*tch.

Bay of Pigs! Nice...

What is with these "power rankings?"

it has a lot to do with fragrance.

I'll repeat. WHITE. MALE.

Wish I had the faith of you all, but to think that this country is as progressive as Pakistan and let a woman or dark skinned person have a real position of authority, come on now...

you are scarily correct! and there IS PD #51 to guarantee it. hopefully there will be no catalyst, but I have little hope.

Daniel @ 64:

Older than dirt. It will become more apparent each day the campaign rolls on. Hell, choosing a cabinet will probably kill the guy.

I needed a laugh, thank you

Unfortunately, people will vote McCain against their own interests. On NOW last week a couple who were losing their house because the husband got sick, was mis-diagnosed, they spend all their savings on medical care, he lost his job and can no longer work in his field because of medical complications were proud to say they vote straight Republican and Huckabee is their man, because he represents their 'values.'

I still feel sorry for these folks, but how incredibly stupid is it when you have lost everything because of Republican disdain for fairness and social justice and you continue to vote for them so women can be subjected to forced pregnancy and gays and lesbians can be kept from social benefits of marriage?

The first time I saw Chrissy's power rankings (with Hillary at #1) they pumped it and then "reported" it as "breaking news".

That is how much he thinks of himself. His opinion is news. Oy.

If McCain does win the nomination, I can't wait to see him have to criss-cross the country 50 times a month for the next 9 months. If you thought Fred Thompson looked bad during his campaign, wait'll you see what it does to McCain. He gets disoriented and addled after speaking for about 30 minutes, and just wait until he has to answer all the questions about his love for Bush, his 100 year war, and his involvement in the S&L scandal during the '80s. I wonder how many times his underlings are going to have to pull the microphone from him when Gramps gets pissy or confused. This Lovable Old Man bullshit may have worked for Reagan, but it isn't going to work these days. I hope the Dems go after him with as much vitriol that the Rethugs had for Kerry. I hope that Mr. Phony Maverick is driven into an assisted living facility. I don't care how many years he was held captive by the Vietnamese - John McCain is a nutjob dickhead who is as bad- or worse -than GWB, and it is our job to make that clear to the voters of this country by destroying the meme of him by the MSM - and we can do it, too!

Can you do a composite of these Power rankings to see how off the mark they have been over the weeks?

Just last week he had Obama behind Romney!

The early weeks he had Clinton and Gulliani as the commanding the nomination of their respective parties. What was the value in these rankings? Rudy apparently had no credibility with voters but Matthews was hot hot hot on Rudy!

Who watches Hardball anymore? I stopped last week, I've decided that bs show is not worth my time.

My Dog came up with his power rankings today.

#1 BONES!

#2 Sniffing things.

#3 Walks!

Here's the new Power Ranker (Rangers are like so five minutes ago) with a bullet:

You're thinking of BlOrielly's and Limpbaugh's rankings, respectively. Easy mistake to make.

I've often been told that I have a point, but I figure if I wear a hat, no one will notice.

Wish someone would wipe the smile(grin) off of Nora O'Donnell's beautiful face. She either smiles (broadly) or laughs at everything said. She sure hates Hillary, but then so does everyone else at MSNBC and NBC. Think Jack Welch has anything to do with it.

I would love to see all of these Democrats who are going to vote for McCave. Well I did see 2 tools who post here saying they would vote for McCave if Hillary was the nominee but I think they're trolls anyway...

She's a hottie. Misguided for sure, but a hottie.

Hate to break it to you folks, but John McCain is the first Republican candidate in months who has actually matched or BEATEN the Democratic frontrunners in major national polls on the question of who would you vote for president if the election were held today.

This is in spite of the fact that he was in 4th place among the Republican candidates just one month ago AND despite the fact that half of the Republican Party HATES the guy.

What has triggered this crossover, bipartisan consolidation behind such a Republican candidate over the last month? Can't be sure, but the polls clearly show that as Barack Obama has "surged" as the more likely potential Democratic candidate over Hillary Clinton, John McCain's numbers have "surged" as the most likely candidate to win the election overall. This was NEVER the case while Hillary Clinton was the clear frontrunner for the Democratic nomination.

Contrary to conventional wisdom and Obama's own campaign talking point, the polls have shown that Barack Obama and not Hillary Clinton is the Democratic candidate who has consolidated the Republican Party behind a candidate for no other reason than to beat the Dem. Even when it's a candidate that many of them hate with a passion.
