From the Dept. of Ooops....sorry:

9 Iraqi Civilians Killed in U.S. Attack
The U.S. military says it accidentally killed nine Iraqi civilians Saturday in Baghdad. Three others were wounded in the attack. The victims came under fire from U.S. helicopters. The strike would be the worst known case of apparent mistaken identity since U.S. forces killed twenty-five members of an anti-al Qaeda Sunni group in November.

Just like I thought.

Erica Jong is so radical! Supporting Hillary? What a strong feminist position to take! No one embodies the feminist values of warmongering quite like Hillary.

I'm probably the only Independant in a family of Republicans. I guess you could say I'm the black sheep of the family. But a wonderful thing happend in 2006. Several members of my family voted Democratic and will probably do it again. Republicans have been losing their own identity. They can no longer rely on the moral issues as they have done in the past. Abortion and gay rights are no longer front and center. I hope this is a bell weather year for the Democrats.

According to the first article, Obama could be more appealing to Republicans if he was a Republican. Amazing insight.

So let me see if I understand this correctly - outing an undercover CIA operative is OK and sources need to be protected completely in that case to protect the integrity of the journalistic process, but war crimes being committed in Iraq, the media will gag itself in order to protect journalistic... nevermind. This is exactly why corporate news is bulls***. They can easily be bribed to bury stories like this.

His father was a black man and his mother was a white woman, I think he understands dealing with difficult situations. Most likely he has dealt with a few in his life.

Yeah, I don't get Jong's support of Hillary, either.

And I always thought the saying "kill 'em all and let god sort 'em out" was just a bit of dark humor.

That article about Obama not being able to hack it is more of the same. I get the point about not being able to institute universal healthcare without going back on his word, but the author ignores two important social points on that matter.

1) Americans aren't as naive as most would have you believe. They understand that there is a need to break a few ideological eggs to make a campaign promise omelette. People will be happy if he delivers and largely ignore the process that made it happen. It's easy to forget not EVERYONE follows the political process as closely ass we here in the blogosphere do.

2) Obama has been deified to the point that the general grumblings of a few Villagers will not slow down his shooting star. I'm no blind fan of the man, but I think that his optimism is such a rare thing in the politics circle, it will work for him when the noise machine goes after him. And really what do they have that holds any water? If they had something, they would have tested it by now. What did they try to float previously? Smoking Obama, Swimsuit Obama, and (the spectacularly failed) Muslim Obama. Then they got bored with being proven wrong and turned full attention on Hillary. Why? (and this is where the author got it completely wrong) Because they have YEARS of dirt on Hillary. They can bash Hillary in their sleep. Frankly, to me it seems Clinton is the one with the Noise Machine problem. But you'd have to step back and look at the bigger picture to get that, something the author has regretfully failed to do.

Turks
getting notice! I don't understand why more progressive types aren't supporting their daily webcast and commentary during special events - tomorrow's Super Tuesday coverage holds the promise of a little more off the cuff commentary than the Networks will provide. Guests the MSM ignore and straight from the hip talk. What's not to like?

Ain't no weak sauce here!

I always thought her to be over-rated. She got her fame by writing a trashy dime-store porn novel, but because it was written by a woman's perspective, that made it "oh so cool" somehow... I never got that.

Wait, David Broder's implied there are no differences between the Republicans and the Democrats - unless it's in the Republicans' favor! Surely he can't be wrong! ;-)
