Sheppard Smith Unhinged: Loses it with Naomi Wolf: Don't you 'Fox' on me. Ever.
I think the ratings game (CNN won Super Tuesday) is making them a little excitable these days. Smith jumps down Wolf's throat after she was trying to explain how exciting the Democratic primary has been and made a remark about not holding her nose to vote because both our candidates are so good. Smith cut her off and demanded that she explain herself. Naomi was obviously making a larger point, "we've got a historic candidacy,,," but he had his own agenda. She got frustrated from the interuption and said: Wolf: This is why I love Fox News."
Smith went ballistic.
Smith: No, no, no. That is unfair. You said it, I didn't say it! You said you were holding your nose when you went in the booth, and I asked you when. That's fair. And anybody who doesn't ask you that is not being fair. I'd like an answer please. You did it. Don't you 'Fox' on me. Ever.
She told him that she had a long history with FOX, but that didn't placate ole Shep. He didn't let it go and still went off at the end of the segment.
Smith: "I do know your long relationship with Fox, but I don't think it's fair to just take shots at us because we ask questions. And I think to say that we didn't want to get our babies out of Iraq, last time I checked everyone over there is at least 18...

There have been a thousand posts here from people saying either they refuse to vote for Hillary or they would vote for her while holding their nose, so Naomi is wrong about that; it's not the first time in a long time. Maybe for her, but its odd she admits she held her nose for Bill Clinton, but it's somehow exciting effectively voting him back in through his wife.
Go figure. Guess that's why she loves Fox- a chance to talk in circles.
This clip is exactly why Obama should not do the debate on Fox. That guy was out of line and totally unprofessional. Naomi should have walked off. She played it perfectly, and was the winner. She did not need to stoop to FOX's level, you don't win by shouting louder, you win by getting your point across, and she did.
She could have simply stated that turnout is higher than ever because voters not only feel energized over their Democratic choices but because a majority of Americans want to end the bloody debacle in Iraq, and they feel empowered like they haven't for years in doing so.
While it's apparent that Wolf was talking about a larger historical context, I do think it was a fair question from Shep.

I do have to give the Shep major credit for his reporting during Katrina though. I remember him during the height of the crisis being questioned 10 different ways by O'Reilly about the situation he was observing in New Orleans and trying to get Shep to agree that it was all the Democrats fault. He refused to agree, as any decent journalist should have, but it was all the more striking to see a reporter with integrity do so on FOX.
In the next hour he did the same thing to Hannity who, once again, tried to get him to agree the lack of assistance to the victims was all the Dems fault.
I also remember a retired Colonel who had been a consultant for FOX discussing Katrina with O'Reilly. When O'Reilly asked him his standard leading question about the Dems being responsible for the debacle, the Colonel came back with one of the most scathing critiques of George Bush's handling of the disaster I had ever heard - I almost fell off my chair. O'Reilly was dumbfounded.
Other than Shep and the Colonel, it was all "Blame the Dems all the Time" coverage on FOX.
Shep was right. I'm a Fox-hating lefty but it was a completely fair question, she brought it up....

I don't always agree with Fox news and believe Shep was a bit wild but then when I watch ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, PBS and every other alphabet station, I rarely see them give a Republican or conservative fair reporting. Come on, you know the majority of you hate Bush, the Republicans and conservatives. It is obvious by your comments but where are those that can really sight actual facts or explain their opinions without resorting to such angry tirades. I can just imagine how much the terrioist love to see us at each others throats. Could have something to do with those 18-20 year-olds hopping behind the wheel after they leave the bar. ;) About 75% of deaths in this age group are attributed to motor vehicle accidents; free access to alcohol has been proven to exacerbate an already serious problem. At the same time, lowering the drinking age for people focused and disciplined enough to make it through basic training does make sense, but on a practical level it would be difficult to manage/enforce.

You might want to check out "The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot". Being an academic doesn't mean you have to be boring. She speaks with authority because she researches her topics well, but then has the good sense to communicate in a form that makes that knowledge accessible to non-academics.
