Dan Abrams offers another edition of his series "Bush League Justice" focusing on the latest petulant move on the part of the President, who is holding on to the nominations of 84 positions until Congress confirms Steven Bradbury to the position of Assistant Attorney General, something the Senate is loathe to do. Why? Because Steven Bradbury is the legal mind responsible for writing the opinions stripping detainees of their habeas corpus rights and torturing them was legally permissible as well as immunizing Harriet Miers from complying with a congressional subpoena. But of course, in Bush's mind it's the Democratic-controlled Congress who is the problem. Constitutional scholar Jonathan Turley weighs in on the latest "made man" of the Bush Administration.

Wait, it gets even worse -- Bradbury also wrote a "Torture Advice Column."

Anyone that bush favors is going to be a crook of sorts. He needs them around him to push his god awful agenda and cover his nasty ass.

Bradbury sounds like Bush's version of Dr. Josef Mengele. Bradbury is a perfect fit for the sadistic Bush regime.

I couldn't be happier about the chimps stand on this. It's another nail in the GOPig coffin. Which ever canidate for the Dems gets the nomination, the landslide win they will receive will send the republican party back to the stoneage. This includes both houses of Congress. Mark my words on this. Have no fear, my fellow Dems, this will happen.

The problem here is the Democratic Congress... not because they are against this nomination, but because they have not done a damn thing about the past offensive that this guy was involved with. By not impeaching Bush and Cheney, they have implicitly accepted those horribly unconsitutional practices as something that we can live with... Now there opposition to this guy looks weak since all those other positions have gone on without any real congressional outrage

The sad thing is the average person won't hear a word about this. They have no idea how deep and how criminal this administration really is. They are too busy working and trying to make ends meet to have time to delve into things like this. That used to be what reporters did for tv and print media. They told people what was actually going on. Today they tell people what they are told to tell them and nothing more. Imagine if you didn't have the time each day to read this site and others, would you know even half of what is going on? I know I sure wouldn't.

For some reason, that video and what that congress man said doesn't surprise me. That may very well be the treat being held over the dems head. If it is, more of them should come out and tell us about it.

One would think that during an election year, even the repubs would not favor this guy and his track record. Why do they follow bush right over the edge every time so blindly? They can't all be that careless.

I think part of this is to poke a finger in the eye of John McCain who, whatever else you can say about him, has taken a pretty strong and unequivocal position on torture. This is one of the reasons the conservative base is frothing at the mouth about a McCain candidacy - they think Jack Bauer is a hero to be emulated and McCain thinks he's a fictional loony who would be (or should be) turfed out of the FBI if he were real.

No, of course there is not, but do you think that any action is going to be taken, at any time. While Bushboy is in office he has the option of martial law and perhaps civil war as a result. When he is out of office people will be very happy to bring back America in any way shape of form, so they will not pursue any kind of charges later.

I hope that he gets out of our country and heads off for some other country that will put with a whacked out frat boy, who thinks he is King George. If a global court want's to charge Mr Bush and his chronies they can feel free to do so.

Bush Says Senate Must Vote on Nominees

By DEB RIECHMANN – 18 hours ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Bush on Thursday chastised the Senate for not holding up-or-down votes on more than 180 of his nominations, including 28 to the federal bench. Democrats claim their efforts to compromise with the White House on nominees have been rebuffed.

So, there's more to it than 84 positions which Bush is withholding nominations on.

Bush and Harry Reid are both acting like petulant children. The Senate should immediately hold an up-or-down vote all all non-controversial nominations. In light of the contentious nature of the torture issue, Bush ought to withdraw Bradbury's nomination.

Yes, if only impeachment was somehow "on the table" dems would have something to bargain with...

By virtue of a Democratic majority won in 2006, the House has the power to pass Articles of Impeachment now, but Pelosi took it off the table because there are a lot of skeletons in Democratic closets which would come shaking out once such measures start getting debated in open session.

This series by Abrams is outstanding, and once again, thank you C & L for replaying it because some like us do not get MSNBC. Turley is great too. I would like to see him become AG to repair the damage to the Constitution. I hope Reid stands his ground on this and uses this nomination to hold up the other 84. With less than a year to go, we don't need to fill those jobs. Let's let "acting" agents do the work and wait for a Democratic administration to fill those slots.
