Goldberg slams Olbermann on The Factor
O'Reilly says that NBC is a danger to the folks as his "news analyst", ahem, Bernie Goldberg slams Olbermann (without naming him of course, coward!) for calling out Bush during one of his special comments. The truth hurts sometimes, Mr.Goldberg.

Bernie compares Olbermann to Michael Savage. Um, Bernie? Advertisers, network execs, etc. seem to like Olbermann. Savage? Not so much...

Yes, let's keep in mind these are "journalists" saying this. And to think that there are actually people out there that take what these rightwing clowns say as gospel. Hey, O'Reilly, where was the balance in this segment?
How can these two clowns actually look into the camera with a straight face and criticize another network or person(s) about objectivity and partisanship ???
there greatest irony of all is that O'Reilly actually believes this crap hwe's putting out, and honestly believes that he is non-partisan.
Bernie is a douchebag, always has been, always will be.
I wouldn't believe that serial liar if he said hello to me.
The reason Bernie, you misguided fool...is that Olbermann is a JOURNALIST and not just a political extremist bomb-thrower.
WOW. The hypocrisy is astonishing...
Someone said "bring in the clowns" and these two showed up.
He's saying this on O'reilly's show!!! HA HA HAAAA!!! On Fox!!! Where Britt Hume moderates?!!! Unreal. These people are the best.
Please...Fux News "fair and balance" right.....if you're on the right. Billo objective? This must be part of the" Fux News comedy hour or was that half an hour? These guys are giving Abbott and Costello a bad name. Ruppert is shoving hard on this one.
FOX News Network is a network of right wing tools. MSNBC is a network of left wing tools. There is no such thing as fair and balanced in news reporting. Everybody has a political ax to grind. The wise viewer recognizes both networks for the scumbags they are and takes all disseminated information with skepticism and more than a grain of salt.
It's funny he mentions that Limbaugh would never be asked to do election night commentary on NBC. Limbaugh was asked to do election night coverage on NBC in 2002.
We all know Bernard Goldberg is a liar. It's just rare that it's so apparent.
these two just raised the bar for complete and utter bullshit hypocrisy! HA!
Like watching two old farts grousing about the country going to hell while they get shit-faced at the Elks lodge.
Unbearable.
Calling Bush an "idiot" is not 'partisanship' - it's called 'having eyes and ears'.
What's this about a Russian bomber annoying the USS Nimitz and an uninhabited island off of Tokyo? Were they sightseeing as they claim or DID THEY STEAL OUR LUNCH MONEY WHEN WE WEREN'T LOOKING?! Why were they interested in that island? Are the rumors of a super-secret mole training facility designed to tunnel across the Pacific real? We must know more!
Fox just hired Karl Rove last week for commentary. Rove did more to damage the country than perhaps anyone in recent history. So Fox is Fair and Balanced, right? And Dick Morris? Another great American. Oh yeah, they bring on that bald-headed freak Carville so all the trailertrash can see how fair they are. Jeebus.
O'Reilly is going down the tubes. He used to just sound shrill. Now he sounds like a lunatic.
Who the hell is this Goldberg guy? I have never heard of him.
And Mr Goldberg, at least have the balls to name Keith by name. And calling the President a pathological liar is not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of fact. And he's an idiot as well. You have to be an idiot or too far to the right to notice that.
IDIOT!
Screw Bill O'Reilly. Screw Bernie Goldberg. Why those assholes have a bully pulpit I'll never know.
Bigger question is; Where does Rupert Murdoch make his money? I fO'reilly is going to lob shots at NBC, let's audit Murdoch. Or better yet, lets send his ass back to Australia.
Der Volks? Vas Tinken der Volks?
Meine Volks?
Nein. Deinen Volks.
Meinen Volks haben nicht Loofa uppin deren Heinden.
You know, these guys are so batshit crazy that it seems self-defeating on our part to misrepresent what they're trying to say. Their argument wasn't that "Keith called Bush an idiot, how dare they", it was that they are putting Keith - whose role is essentially as an opinion-man - in a chair doing election coverage of the primaries.
And on this point, he is correct. Placing somebody as vocal as Keith in such a position has the potential to be very damaging to the way the public forms their opinions. And what better forum to make this very point than on the network that hires Sean Hannity, Brit Hume, and Chris Wallace to do the very same thing?
I never realized that pots could call kettles black in such a clear and transparent manner.
The FUX News play book is so obviously:
First, break all rules of journalism, and feed people propaganda.
If there is even the slightest hint of another channel doing the same, accuse them of breaking all the rules of journalism and feeding propaganda so that they can be blamed for the mess we have caused.
If the other channels are not doing the same, accuse them anyway.
Joe Pasetto @ 4:
Excellent!! I'm with you... and guys like Bernie and his buddy, Bill(shit), are on their way out.
Matthew 7:3 "And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?" The hypocrisy is incredible! The entire Fox News channel spent almost an entire decade tearing down a president it didn't like and it can't stand ONE PROGRAM on NBC that calls the current president to task???? Amazing!!!!
Bernard has absolutely the same credibility as that cretin Billo and that would be 0 . I would love to see soon to be senator Franken walk on the set and watch these two assholes soil themselves .
jeezus, talk about mistating the past
werent the righties calling cronkite a commie all the way back in the 70s?
Might be more inclined to give this sort of dialogue credence if Goldberg had also mentioned the host of the show he was on under he category of bomb throwers.
Comparing Keith to Rush,,,come on,,,,talk about a partisan,,, Billo is that 100%. He is mostly opinion and very little fact. Bernie is just another Fox stoolie barking out the stock Faux noise talking points. Only reason Billo barks about NBC so much is Keith calls him out on all his lies. And theirs a lot of them. Yes the truth does hurt.
Goldberg is a amateur douschbag! This ass-tard isn't fit to polish Olbermann's loafers!
The funniest part was when O'Reilly said "Why would I care what this guy is saying-er joe sixpack, what does Joe Sixpack care?" You care because Olberman ridicules you every other night and you have and ego as fragile as an eggshell. I guess Britt Hume who anchors their election coverage is not a partisan. O'Reilly is so fragile he has all these siccophants come on and tell him what he wants to hear. Pathetic.
Geno in Ptown @ 17:
Took me a while to find it, but here's Jon Stewart dissecting Bernie and his book in C&L archives:
Windows wmv
QuickTime mov
Wow, what utter horseshit.
oooooooooh, the irony! sweet as honey. on bill-mother-$@*&ing-o'reilly talking about the blurring of news and commentary.
I can't stand that Bernie Goldberg dude.
Bernie Goldberg is still enraged that he was canned by CBS--he was a very mediocre employee and they (quite correctly) showed him the door. He is a pathetic, embittered, "little man", who is petty and writes very sophmoric little essays which he parlays into books for the bottom feeders and knuckle draggers who watch Fox.
He and O'Really deserve each other. Bernie--look in the mirror--you look about 80 yrs old and when you are on television you always look like you are terribly uncomfortable, could it be you are constipated because you are so full of s..t?
What a clown.
I think even Fox news can see a whooping of historic proportions about to occur in the upcoming
presidential elections and they are scared shitless. They are desperate, but they know their
sliming will not make a difference this time. So, they do what they do best - air their crap to
their ignorant -followers Fox ditto heads.
johnclark @ 3:
I doubt if he believes any of it. His is an act. He is a well paid actor. And a pretty good one at that judging from all the reaction.
Geno in Ptown @ 17:
This just means that the Falafel Man will never do his own dirty work.
I know Keith will have a major comeback on his show, and he will name NAMES like Goldberg, perhaps?!!
Think of these two guys not as media hungry reporters or columnists or whatever, Think of them as performers. they probably don't write much of their script and you can tell that they kind of figure out there place with Billo.
They are performers though, and don't really care much of what they say. And ya know what their audience really don't care as long as they put down a Black, or a jew, or poor folks or Gays or that super liberal Olberman over on NBC.
His audience just want to see some fireworks, cus they got nothin else happening in their
lives.
No Olbermann tonight because of the primaries, but for their comments tonight, Billo and Bernie are co-WORST... PERSONS... IN THE WORLD!!!!
Funny guys. Stupid funny. That screenshot is the quintessential Billo. His eyes belie the creepy smug set of his lips. They seem to be reassuring us to not worry, even Bill doesn't believe the crap that comes out of his pie hole. He...just....can't...help..himself.
Aren’t O’Reilly and Goldberg brothers from another mother?
hey bilge... kiss my dick!
I'm surprised these reich wing vultures pulled their necks out of McCain's rib cage long enough to actually make a valid point.
Fine, drop the opinion guys from primary coverage. That includes the FOX troika: Hannity, Hume & Wallace.
Here they go after Olbermann for his response to their own bullshit on equal ground. But that's what bullies do - whine and cry foul when the nerd finally beefs up and kicks their asses.
arrgh... vomit... arrgh!
This clip is a good candidate for a laugh-track editing.
For every finger they point there are 3 pointing back at them, boy were they pointing hard on that one.
Yeah, Thats RICH. They want respect for a president that doesn't respect the will of the people.
P.S. I was only able to watch billo because my night has already been ruined by watching the latest police abuse video's.
I figured that I shouldn't let all this good wine go to waste on just ONE depressing news event.
I can't even discuss how I feel about the FISA vote today. Good thing the weather sucks too ...... ugh.
john clark,
there greatest irony of all is that O’Reilly actually believes this crap hwe’s putting out, and honestly believes that he is non-partisan.
No. He doesn't. He knows that everything he says is tainted, untrue, silly, and/or partisan...He can deny it, he can spin it, he can lie to his viewers faces, but he's bought and paid for...He knows it.
Do these guys know how effing hilarious they are? Good thin g I had finished my warm milk before I watched that. Woulda come out my nose.
If Goldberg slams Olbermann, I can't think of a single greater "endorsement" Olbermann could possibly receive!
This from someone who thinks Barbra Streisand is screwing up America but George Bush is just peachy. I saw Nardo on CSpan sometime back hawking his book and despairing at the loss of civility these days. When someone in the book-store audience dared to disagree with him about a minor point, he pounced on the guy like a wolverine. These types are only interested in hearing themselves chatter. Ugh.
I've seen Keith talk to Rudy Guiliani during election coverage and kept completely civil. Keith, who devoted one of his SCs to ripping Rudy apart for his 9/11 fear-mongering.
Keith did it without a single remark against Rudy. That's because some people know how to be commentators and journalists, and when each role is called for.
I'm guessing Bill-O doesn't have that restraint and that's why he's not allowed to anchor anything meant to be remotely objective.
Wow! I'm laughing my ass off. This should filed under comedy! This on the network that call the 2000 election for dubya?
prffffffft! Constitution!!!!! When the fuck did O'Fascist start caring about the Constitution!????
this is hilarious!!!! WOW!!!
I burst out laughing when Bernie Goldberg actually said CBS would never have stood up against the corrupt right wing back in the old days. He didn't really say that did he? Edward R. Murrow, the most respected broadcaster in our history stood up against the right wing and Joseph McCarthy. Whoops. I guess Bernie wanted everyone to forget about that. Edward R. Murrow could care less if someone was a Republican or Democrat. The same goes for Keith Oberman. They are just patriots who are standing up against corrupt politicians. Keith Oberman is following in the footsteps of what CBS News did in the 1950s. America comes first before any political party.
Just two used up, bitter geezers talking about the new golden boy of news. Pretty soon these guys will be doing hearing-aid and recliner commercials on the Hallmark channel.
Two dicks having a circle jerk.
Seemed pretty reasonable to me. Someone who reads broadsides like he does has no business covering an election. Yeah, it's on FOX. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Speaking of circle jerks... I feel like I just walked into one.
How does the fact that network execs and and advertisers agree with Olbermann support the fact that he is not extremely partisan????
Please.
What's funny is that these two right-wing tinhorns are criticizing another network and that network's REAL journalists about objectivity and being partisan while not allowing another point-of-view to be heard about it in that segment. O'Reilly has been the master at grasping at straws of late via his desperation.
To all the O'Reilly lemmings reading this: HEL-LO-O-O-O-O-O-O-O ???!!!
Oh. Im sorry, I forgot that MSNBC also has PAT F***ING BUCHANAN on its election coverage team!
John Silver @ 58:
No... What you're engaging in is mental masturbation, different from a circle jerk.
"Someone who reads broadsides"? Haven't heard that term for newspapers used since newspapers became irrelevant back in the '80's.
Bluestater @ 2:
The same way rethug clowns like Larry Craig and Mark Foley sput "family values."
OK - Billo is accusing MSNBC of bias and irresponsible journalism?
hello Kettle? This the Pot. . . . Your Black.
Bernie must be looking for a Worst Person award to keep up with all the other GOP assclowns. I daresay the new Mr. Murrow will be delivering it with his foot.
Last Friday on NOW, they had some idiot trying to make a comparison between the Swift Boat Veterans for Lies and Move-On.
Kermit T Frog @ 63:
If o'really is the latter does that mean he has to publically demand his mother f**king iced tea?
Greenberg said
"Somebody anchoring Election Night coverage which is...we're not talking about Election night coverage for City Council. We're talking about the race for President of the United States. The people at home need to know when they watch the media, the national media, that they're gonna get an honest, fair shake. And you can't get that from somebody who's such a partisan".
This, he is saying, to Bill O'Reilly, on FOX News...
Never in my life have I heard such a load of hypocrisy and bullcrap in one segment.
"they have less and less faith in the News Media"
That's FOX News' fault.
Bill O' saying that GE is making money in a corrupt way off the "special privileges" that the news media has, is the biggest case of Pot calling Kettle black that I have ever seen in my life. If ANYbODY knows anything about corrupt news organizations, it's FOX Noise channel.
Idiotland @ 62:
Is sputting what they call it when the spouting tapers off?
brithumeistheantichrist @ 16:
Oh yeah! I forgot about him! It doesn't get much more partisan than Karl Rove. At least MSNBC doesn't have Bill Bennet or Clinton's former campaign manager anchoring a Super Tuesday.
Do these people think we're stupid or something?
The truth is what it is, and it ain't on Faux News.
That segment, like most all Fox segments, was replete with non-truths and a gross hypocrisy.
Absolutely amazing
DS @ 6:
C'mon kids...what's the first rule of right wing NUTS.
NEVER LET THE FACTS GET IN THE WAY.
AgentX @ 69:
Uhhh...YEAAAH.
This from the "network" that is giving us Karl Rove as a "special election guru?"
Oh, savor that irony...
Al Franken said it best when he called the whole magoogle of them Lying Liars. Neither O'Reilly nor Goldberg really believe the crap that comes out of their mouths. They aren't stupid. They are simply very good at manipulating their dull witted audiences and constituencies.
This sort of think is done all the time, mostly by the Right, probably because a greater percentage of us on the left value truth more than power.
Thing Fish @ 30:
Thank you for this. I saw it at the time and loved it. It was great watching it again. Stewart is the best interviewer I've ever seen. He does not take cheap shots. He always gives his guests an opportunity to state their case uninterrupted. But when he disagrees, he has the ammunition to shoot down their arguments with facts.
Comedy Central has the only news I can depend on anymore besides the internet. Scott Ritter spoke recently in Columbus OH. His message was, "If you want to know what is going on, go to BBC or other foreign news sites. Read all sides of the story. If you get all your news from our Propaganda Media, you are uninformed."
3:00 on totally applies to Fox News.
My head just exploded listening to this drivel. Have these guys never heard of Edward R. Murrow?? A brilliant journalist who also did commentary and labeled it as such; as does KO. I personally think KO's election night coverage is some of the best; when he can get Tweety to shut the f**k up.
Fixed News has no business talking about anyone's objectivity; aren't they the organization set up to promote the right wing agenda? They don't know what journalism is.
That's okay. I sometimes compare Bernie to my intestines. Afterall, they're both usually full of crap.
They put the factor back into olfactory.
This from Fox News?
That was so amazing! especially at the end on about making money off blowing soldier's up!
http://www.billoreilly.com/store
Does Keith have his own store and offer to sell his fan club gift items to the soldiers in Iraq?
Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly both have been guilty of pandering for profit over the death of our soldier in Iraq.
BillO is way out of his league on this one with Olbermann.
And this Goldberg must be related to the other loon Goldberg that wrote the book of how nice the Nazi's were and slavery wasn't that bad.
Why don't they hold up Murdoch and Roger Ailes as champions of balance and pure journalism.
I swear Bill O would have sex with a Great Dane on his "Factor" if Roger Ailes told him to. Just so they could tell their right winged audience how they are screwing the Left wing. Bill O would have to or loose his job to a Maulkin Munchkin.
You don't like my use of the term "broadsides" ... it's too archaic a term? Hah! Read a book. Make fun of me and my archaic vocabulary all you want. These guys might be hypocrites and jerks... but that doesn't mean what they're saying is horseshit. I just don't get why everyone is saying that. I love Olbermann, but when I saw him sitting behind the desk on election night... it just seemed, well, unfair!!
Also, if you're going to make fun of me for saying "broadsides" ... I've got to say ... I've always hated that "mental masturbation" expression. It's so, well.. dormroom. It's one of those expressions that seem to be guilty of the very thing they describe. It's such an empty little phrase. But maybe you are in a dorm room. If so, I apologize.
I always thought of mental masturbation, or my preference onanism, as being the perfect name for a college philosophy class.
Sure it feels good, but what purpose does it serve?
Wankito ergo sum?
The coward O'Reilly poops his pants and hides under his desk whenever someone says Olbermann so no one is allowed to say his name on the Factor. I wonder if Bernie had to raise his right hand and swear to O'Reilly that the O word wouldn't pass his lips in order to be a guest on the show? Olbermann has more credibility and balls than O'Reilly could ever hope to possess.
Him saying NBC is a danger to the folks is insane considering he works for the media arm of Bush & company. Must be nice for the GOP to have their own news network in FOX to spew propaganda for them 24/7.
The scary part is that one out of four Americans buys into O'Reilly's bullshit.
Olbermann balances O'Reilly out nicely.
He compared Olbermann to Savage when he was looking right at O'Reilly? That is rich. How about comparing O'Reilly to Savage? Maybe that's what he meant. ;)
The line was blown up by Bill O'Reilly himself. Rabidly partisan commentator, eh? Who could that be?
sofla @ 87:
Yes, but fortunately most are the age of my wife's parents, 80 years old. They are leaving this earth fast.
I have to wonder how many of these people whining about Olbermann covering the elections actually watch him on the election results shows.
He's a bingo caller. If you didn't know it already, you'd never guess from the results coverage that he has a show on which he rails against the Bush administration every night.
Yes it's sad that 1 of 4 Americans buy into the O'Reilly Factor. What's even sadder is that 1 in 3 Americans buy into the Bush Factor. I'm reminded of the saying Figures don't lie, but Liars do figure. I hate to repeat this phrase which is often used about Politicians and that's
"How can you tell if a Politician is lying? Answer: His lips are moving". Remember this all of your O'Reilly and Bush fans.
I'm no body language expert but when Billo takes his swipe at GE he blinks profusely ane his eye dart off. It seems tha by Billos standards he'l lying his ass off to avert the focus from him being a complete Murdoch rightwing shill.
_
CBS's entire claim to journalistic fame was built on the backs of two men - Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite, both of whom were pioneers in the field of television news commentary.
Bill has always been terrified of Olbermann (or anyone who doesn't have a political agenda that stands up to corrupt politicians. Edward R. Murrow spoke out against the witch hunts of the right wing in the 1950s. If you didn't agree with them they called you a communist. Today, if you don't agree with them, they call you a terrorist or siding with the terrorist. Walter Cronkite, another great patriot who did not have a political agenda spoke out against the Viet Nam war. Now it is Olbermann who is exposing Bush's lies. Bill O Riley is scared to death to ever mention the name of Olbermann. lol. It will never happen. And he doesn't allow any guests mention his name. O Riley tried to never mention the watchdog organization MediaMatters, but finally gave in. Now it is Olbermann that O' Riley is scared of. I love it. Anyone who supports the slaughter of innocent people including our troops in Iraq should be exposed. That is why O Riley is afraid. He knows that a majority of the country is aware of Bush's lies. It is ironic that they mention CBS would never allow this when CBS was the home of Cronkite and Murrow that did exactly what Olbermann is doing today. But this goes along with the hate filled right wing philosophy, say one thing, mean the opposite. Say Bush is smart, say Bush is truthful, say Iraq is connected to 911, say you got bad information when starting a war with a country that did nothing to you, say gays are immoral when it is revealed that the right wing has more secret gay politicians that any other.
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - About Louis Kestenbaum - A teenage girl has filed a $50 million lawsuit against a New York billionaire, saying he sexually abused her when she was 14.
Louis Kestenbaum"s attorney says the allegations are false and motivated by money. Kestenbaum is also the CEO of Fortis properties and the ODA a goverment funded organisation in the williamsburg section of Brooklyn NY
The girl, now 17, claims Louis Kestenbaum invited her to his Florida mansion in 2005 to perform a massage for $300. The lawsuit, filed in federal court, claims he demanded she remove her clothes, then sexually assaulted her.
The girl, her father and stepmother are seeking more than $50 million.
JOEL KESTENBAUM a son of Louis Kestenbaum said " The family is in shock " but had no comments when asked.
Goldberg, being a former CBS News employee, needs to refresh his memory. He spoke of ".....a very bright line between between news and commentary", saying that line was put there by William Paley. Obviously he doesn't remember a man who worked for Paley, Edward R. Murrow, the father of broadcast journalism. And in his day, Murrow crossed that line many times, with the explicit permission of Paley. But this interview began with questioning the comments of David Schuster, which were a lapse in judgement, and proceeded into a direct attack on Keith Olbermann without having the courage to mention his name. What wasn't mentioned, Keith did an on-air apology for MSNBC in regard to the Schuster faux pas. In my mind's eye, we need more journalists/"commentators" of Olbermann's ilk, one's that tell it like it is and truly do speak the truth in a "fair and balanced" way". I can't help but compare Keith to Murrow, and he most certainly knows the footsteps that blazed the path to where he now sits, so much so that he closes his show each night with Murrow's trademark "Goodnight and good luck". And I also can't help but compare the shape this country is in politically to the time that Murrow so couragously sparred with Joe McCarthy and his minions at the risk of his career on "See it Now", his version of "Countdown". The minions are now different, but the climate is the same: using fear to justify attacks upon the Constitution; just substitute the word terrorists for communists; they're hiding under every pillow, bed, in every closet, and especially on your own personal phone lines and internet connections. Yes, I do believe Keith is this generation's Murrow, and I'm glad I've lived long enough to see this reincarnation. Keep up the good work, Keith. Semper Fidelis!
