Only 15 correct out of 25 (sigh).
twas clinton
Is it fare to say none of them said exactly that?
15/25
I haven't read the links yet,but my guess would be McCain.
15 out of 25 here too.
On a different note, I want to send my hopes and prayers out to Northern Illinois University. I used to cut through Cole Hall every day and I'm saddened to see such a tragedy at my alma mater. What's even more disturbing is that this is the 6th school shooting this year. :(
I think they all said all of them at least once.
Roark77 @ 6:
I'm with you on that.
Hillary "won" New Mexico. L.A. County doesn't care about sick, and poor people. Bernanke admits we're up a creek. The U.S. is trying to forge threats against Iran. Bayer AG murdered over 20,000 patients.
An extinct species already?
Black delegates are re-considering
voting for Hillary.
I got 17/25. I don't know whether to be proud or to stop reading the blogs and newspapers all the time.
damn...........ugh.
i think every single person said something along that line..
22/25
Does that mean I'm incredibly well informed, or that I really do have no life?
SweetAuntFanny @ 14:
I'd say you have good memory.
does that mean i am boasting or i am lying?
yes.
Tequila @ 10:
sad about the jack rabbit. thanks for that info.
You answered 14 out of 25 questions correctly.
All those change questions tripped me up :)
There are definitely some more important quotes that have been uttered over the years. True ones as well.
Jessie Jackson Jr. threatens superdelegates with losing their seats if they don't switch from Clinton to Obama, I would call this blackmail, or in the new Obama world is it ok?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080215/ap_on_el_pr/clinton_superdelegates_6...
Curious to see how many of the Obama friendly blogs cover this little bit.
Question -
I have a friend who says she hates Bush, but it's time to move on. She says there's not much we can do about him, and that we need to focus on electing a Democratic president and a solid majority in Congress who are willing to clean up his messes.
I say we need to look forward, but we still need to keep our eyes open for the damage this jerk will invoke on our country in the next year - and to try to hold these creeps accountable.
What do you guys think? Are we wasting our time? Will the nightmare be over on Jan. 20, 2009?
Are any of you as afraid as I am that Bush really doesn't want to leave and will find some way to subvert the law and stay on?
Stellaa @ 20:
I don't care for Jackson Jr's macho, hormone fueled and manipulative attitude. He's an angry man with some kind of chip on his shoulder and it concerns me he's an Obama advisor.
This "change" bullshit has been fed to us by politicians since for-fucking-ever.
How about 1952 - "Time for a Change" - by Eisenhower?
But the people still get sucked in.
Chumps forever!
PT Barnum lives.
pol @ 21:
He doesn't want to stay on and there is no reason to. Bush will shake hands and pass it on with McCain or Hillary or Obama next January and ride off into the sunset with his share of $7 trillion in loot and a bankrupt country that will take 20 years to repair. If McCain gets in kiss it goodbye.
pol @ 21:
Justin Raimondo over on antiwar.com has a good article worth reading about the future of washington.
The Monster That Wouldn't Die
they're all disgusting. Can we just not have a president until viable, qualified, quality candidates become available from somewhere?
15/25
L.A. Confidential @ 22:
He is Obama's chair.
Wait.... Ron Paul's a racist! He voted against the congressional medal for Rosa Parks. Of course he also voted against giving one to Ronald Reagan too. Nevermind that he offered to chip in $100 of his own money for a medal for Ms. Parks and suggested other members chip in their own money too, which they of course refused. (They only like spending your money -- not theirs!) I gotta ask, which means more -- giving your own money for a medal for someone, or giving someone else's money?
Gekke @ 18:
Me to. I got the same scores especially on the "change questions". lol

by Paul Slansky
You answered 24 out of 25 questions correctly.
Stellaa @ 20:
Wow, quite a spin you put on that story. No worries, Hillary will be gone soon.
I got 18 correct! Amazingly I got 6 out of 7 correct for the "change" questions! Someone is paying close attention to all of the candidates! Not just my favorite!

The right wing neocons believe in change also. They have worked slowly for change in the last 30+ years. They knew it would take generations. They continued to depress wages, made laws that imprisoned many for drug use and counted on us to get used to things as they became everyday happenings. We did exactly what they wanted us to do, but "WE THE PEOPLE" finally woke up. Time for change for the better.
You know, I scored 14 out of 25 and I have paid very close attention to these elections. I'm sure that many other people here that also took the test did equally as well or better. I wonder what the scores would look like for those voters that only get their information from the MSM? My guess is, they would score very poorly indeed.
L.A. Confidential @ 22:

16/25 - hard to keep some of the change statements straight! A fun quiz.
Batocchio @ 44:
I got 15/25 but like you said, once that became a talking point, everyone was saying change.
Batocchio @ 44:
Ill post the correct change link this time ;)
Adam @ 26:
Not gonna happen, unless the person has $$$$$$$. $ will get you influence, a Senate seat, and then a presidential bid. Also, as big a role as lobbyists play in government, sensibility and quality are out the window.
Seriously, our government has really gone downhill in the past 50 years. Executive and Judicial branches have absolutely shot through the roof in terms of power, while the Legislative has seemingly lost its punch. And the two-party system has been refined so much that few politicians stand up to official party stances.
It's depressing.

Ron @ 48:
Nice post!
Stellaa @ 20:
II would also say that is voter intimidation. And as for your comment about blogs friendly to Obama - they will never let that bit of news hit their discussions. Anything anti-Obama is forbidden when you look around at the normal ones I read all the time. For someone who supports a uniter, I have never heard such hatred going back and forth between commenters.
mt @ 49:
Hopefully, the republican party will face the same demise.
mo_dem @ 32:
Yep. Jackson was just bluntly pointing out a fact, not making a threat. And it looks like many people are finally waking up to that fact. These guys got on the Clinton bandwagon early thinking she was inevitable. They were wrong.
The facts are that as we stand now, it looks like Obama will win the delegate count and may win the popular vote as well. Do these superdelegates really want to have the responsibility of overturning that and nominating Hillary? I don't think so; especially when their constituents are likely to make them pay for it. And that's why you have guys like John Lewis withdrawing his endorsement of Hillary.
Those statements were most likely on the form letter provided by the CFR to all of their puppets.
In other words, all of the remaining candidates.

Damn, repugs are shallow, disgusting-liars. That quiz made me shuttered.
tHeGaMeOfLiFe @ 57:
When the repugs picked on the mantra of change, it made it difficult.

Wow. Just, wow. I'll just assume you're drunk and ignore your post. I also have a strange feeling that "L.A. Confidential" has more than a few aliases on this site.
21/25...I think its safe to say I'm a political junkie.
Obama '08
17/25. Meh.
Sam @ 61:
Come on, man.... Come on, man... really? Sooo... how should I vote... Junkie!?!
It may be time to alter 'change'. It definitely needs a make over. If someone doesn't modify it soon, it runs the risk of mutating and being recast by the other side. Then they'll just refashion it and redo the transformative revolutionary candidate metamorphosis that Obama underwent to remake this election. A fresh remodeling could just revamp McInsane's campaign enough to give him the transfigurative edge he needs. If Hillary doesn't revise her strategy soon, all she'll be able to do is continue to rework old tactics. It won't be enough to just vary her exchanges with Barrack - she needs to mutate into the better speaker to improve her chances at converting the shift that's taking place and supersede Obama as the momentum leader. Whoever gets the Dem nom, it will be essential that they transmute all the energy and momentum they can to November so as not to commute the Rethuglican party's sentence toward an accelerated demise.
Even with a thesaurus, 'change' remains the same - a trite, boring, dull, stale, unoriginal political cliche'. I for one can't wait 'til change goes. I've got a slogan - "No more bullshit."
Proud2bHumble @ 63:
I repeat again.
The right wing neocons believe in change also. They have worked slowly for change in the last 30+ years. They knew it would take generations. Roark77 @ 6:
Same here on both. 15 out of 25 on the quiz. And...
More importantly I'm from NIU, Class of '88. If I'm remembering right, Cole Hall was home of massive lecture rooms. I was assigned there for some math classes, but, since they didn't take attendance and I couldn't understand the T.A.'s very heavily accented voice, I didn't go to those classes very often. Still, this is frightening. I can close my eyes and almost be there right now.
My guess is 'The Littlest Douchebag', Dubya for all.

Yeah, my mom repeats herself too, but thankfully she doesn't do it with condescending advice on top of information I've known since I was 12. No hard feelings, Ron - I know you're coming from a good place. I like most of your posts, but don't try to give me a Frisk psychoanalysis.

That is because they are the ones who are racist and think they are "entitled" to their chosen candidate winning because they say so! If they want to stage a walk out, then I say... "Don't let the door slam your spineless backs on the way out!...Ba Bye!
We follow the rules! We do not demand for them to be changed with threats! This is the Democratic Convention made up of Super Delegates....ones who are not going to make one bit of difference when it comes to winning the General Election and the popular vote! As far as I am concerned, if they are threatening to cause chaos during such a horrible time in history when we need to unite, not divide, then they should be charged with treason because they are acting like traitors!
If they really cared about all of the people, not just their own then they would realize we need to unite, not threaten with more divide! That is real JFK/MLK like!
Why does Obama want the original rules to apply when it comes to MI and FL, but he does not want the original rules to apply when it comes to the Super Delegates? He gets ahead for the first time and he wants Hillary to give up and forgo the remaining states and big states like TX, OH, and PA?
How is that fair?
Even if one of them wins each remaining state by 100%, which they won't, they still would not have the 2,025 delegates needed to win so it will come down to the popular vote and the most amount of Super Delegates which is what Hillary will have after TX, OH, PA, and other remaining states.
The rules are the rules! You cannot bend them to suit your own interest and not the interest of the American majority!
Also, Obama broke the rules when he advertised in Florida and Hillary did not! If he was so concerned about Hillary getting votes in MI, then how come some people voted for Kucinich or voted "Uncommitted" to a candidate but still voted Democrat to give strength and support to the Democratic votes? Either way, Hillary still won the most amount of votes in FL and MI!
That is so hypocritical and just plain wrong for the supporters of the candidate of "change, inspiration, and hope" to threaten nothing but divide and chaos if they do not get their way! It is who gets the most amount of votes, not who stomps their feet the loudest or threatens the most!
I will never vote for anyone who gives ultimatums and threats to my political party that I have been loyal to for life! They do not rule me! If I wanted to be treated that way, then I would become a Republican! That is where those delegates can go when they walk out of the Democratic Party Convention! They can join the Republicans...they would fit in there better with that un-Democratic, non-unifying and un-American attitude!
fiver @ 65:
Class of '04 here and I actually taught a lecture or two in Cole while in grad school since you could use the rooms like big movie theaters. As an undergrad there I can say that I took some really good naps in the back of Cole while listening to TA's drone on. I'm just thankful the bodycount didn't go a lot higher, Cole is built a lot like a movie theater and just as hard to get out of when it's packed.

I honestly don't get it. Hillary had it all: an influential marriage to a (then-)popular President, government "experience", an electoral edge over all the other Dem candidates, and appeal across all demographics. She had the win in the bag, and she let it slip from her fingers! I mean, I got that she was out of touch with the Heartland, but I didn't think she was so out of touch that she'd flip red staters off before she had won there. Her husband was the one who had that kind of connection with that part of the country, not her. Did the two of them honestly believe they wouldn't have to acknowledge the voters who lost jobs and family members because of their policies?
I guess they figured that the dissenters were naive and young "punks"-like those protesters in Seattle-and that the majority of Dems were moderate doormats who didn't care if all they got was another change of guard, as long as it led to the end of another Repug in charge. Maybe if she had spent as much time listening to young people as she did worrying about the games we buy, she'd have had a larger margin of victory then when she started.

Change. That's the big campaign message for '08. A white woman or a black man could be our next president.
But if that's the change we're looking for, why not:
1. Vote for Laura Bush? Her White House experience is just as long as Hillary's, and much more au courant. She's up to date, up to speed, and wouldn't even have to move her toothbrush, so she'd waste no time on Day 1.
2. Or vote for Colin Powell. He has the years of experience, particularly military experience, which is necessary for running a gaggle of wars. And he could run on the slogan, 'Mostly tells the truth, except when it counts', which would be an improvement over what we have now. Also he has intimate knowledge of the current cast of characters in the White House, so, aside from a couple of quick punches in the mouth, his transition would be easy.
3. Or, if you really want change, write in George W. Bush's name for a third term, which would maintain the integrity and the precedents established by this White House by breaking the law, big time. Also, a third term would almost certainly destroy Bush, completely, which is really what we'd like, isn't it?
The cynic in me says, who the fuck cares, it is all bullshit anyway, my true feeling is we don't elect anyone they are anointed behind closed doors and then we are manipulated into voting for that choice, and I give you the last two elections as concrete evidence. President Kennedy was killed probably because he didn't stay inside the lines. The man who dearly loves his country in me will not rise to that cynicism, and will fight tooth and nail against those who would destroy a world my children have to grow up in..............goddamn It hurts so bad sometimes to know what my children have to face when I won't be here to protect them.
Since insomnia is a cruel master and since I didn't see anyone else link it, here's the link to the Bush BBC interview: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7245670.stm It's actually a fairly interesting interview and the first one that he's done with the BBC in a very long time.
I cherry picked my favorite bit, which comes after a brief discussion of Guantanamo Bay, Abu Ghraib, etc:
Frei: Can you honestly say, Mr President, that today America still occupies the moral high ground?
Mr Bush: Absolutely - absolutely. We believe in human rights and human dignity. We believe in the human condition. We believe in freedom. And we're willing to take the lead.
Tequila @ 39:

...isn't that the truth!?
It is disgusting that anyone tolerates the kind of blatant disrespect for Bill and Hillary Clinton that Obama encourages! It is more shameful that these delegates are supporting a candidate that does nothing but cause divide. Shame on all of them! And it is because they are racist, because you do not see others displaying threats like this trying to disrupt the Democratic Party political process that all of the candidates agreed to from the beginning, including Obama!
Even McCain's jumping on the bandwagon.
Last night, in the middle of a speech, he paused, wiggled around, looked down in dismay at the big stain spreading in his crotch, front and back, and said
'Well, I guess it is time for a change', as he hurriedly left the stage, his Depends manager in tow.
(Do we really want another president crapping in the Oval Office?)

Excuse me, but Hillary Clinton is nothing like Laura Bush! Hillary Clinton has traveled to more countries than any other First Lady in history for starters! She was very involved in front of and behind the scenes.
Laura Bush could not stand up to one man if her life depended on it! Obviously, since she is still with that thug GB! Hillary would never just stand in the shadows silently watching her husband screw a nation and the world!
Do not compare Hillary to Laura! The only thing they have in common is they are both females! That is it!
I know nooses are no longer in favor.
But has anyone thought of renaming 'Open Threads', 'Open Ropes'?
Just so all us dissenters would have enough to hang ourselves, and get it over with, 'do it our way', before they drop the net and pack us all off to the 'Special Camp' they've built for us on the sunny Cuban shores.

Valid fear Pol-don't let it rule your life though, if it comes to that things are going to get real ugly. as far as the nightmare being over, I think it will take a long time to undo what these fucks have done and everything should be done starting yesterday to make these people accountable otherwise you might just as well throw the Constitution in the shitter. And the caveat to that is, is the next president actually going to do anything other than the same thing using different words. I am no republican so when I say this next don't take it wrong. Bill Clinton did the working class no favors with his trade policies, his sanctions killed 3 to 5 hundred thousand children in Iraq (google it-Uniceff). The worker in America is the victim of ever increasing inflation which causes the cost of living to go up. As a consequence of that wages have to go up, and then manufacturers outsource to get a lower paid labor market, the culprit here in my opinion, and it is not a fully educated opinion, is the ratification of the Federal
Reserve Bank in 1913, the government had been issuing it's own currency backed by gold previous to that, and there was no inflation. Afterwards the government Borrowed the money it needed from this bank, which, although it is ostensibly a quasi governmental institution, is essentially a privately owned bank. The result of this is the government had to pay interest on that money it once managed itself and payed no interest on, and guess what, we have had inflation and the above labor force killing scenario ever since and you pay every mother fucking dime of that interest with your taxes where there should be none. Quite a racket, a money pot for the connected, and the banking system rips you a knew asshole in continually imaginative ways. Just think how much money is generated by just the charge to use a debit card to withdraw money from one of those ubiquitous cash machines, it is staggering. And the credit extended at usurious rates is slavery by another name.
Paul Warberg(sp?), Cornelius Vanderbilt, J.P. Morgan et al were not known for the largess, the originasl robber barons and if you think a bank they helped form had anything to do that would benefit anyone but themselves I give you what you see today.

I take that as a compliment that you cannot distinguish the difference of my gender! It means I am getting my point across! It should not matter if I am male or female...but if it makes you feel any better...I am a female!
I have to disagree though...While I cannot stand George Bush, I do have respect and admiration for Laura Bush as a First Lady and because she is so tolerant...however, I still have a hard time not believing she does not feel utter contempt for her husband sometimes because of his actions, or lack of. And yes, she is a beautiful lady! That is coming from me because I have learned to have some kind of respect for authority and our leaders...But that is where I draw the line.
I have to disagree as to whom is prettier. I think Hillary Clinton is by far way more beautiful than Laura. It is not just physical beauty, it is the beauty that radiates through her soul and her goodness. The more I see of her taking charge and caring about all of us Americans and the world, the more beautiful she is to me! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! And NO I am not gay! Not that I have anything against gay people either...but it seems as though you get called that if you have anything nice to say about Hillary as a female!
Duke @ 100:
I am so sure she is the only one in the history of mankind that has ever been cheated on, right? Everyone has either been cheated on or cheated on someone else at one time or another...or at the very least know someone who is close to them that has suffered through this! Why do you think the divorce rate is above 50%? And if you think you have not been a victim at one time in your life or another, then you are just in denial and in la la land! I am not excusing Bill's behavior...but he is human after all! I was under the impression that only Jesus is perfect. I guess not according to a lot of people! Forgiveness is the first step to change, and unless you are willing to forgive, this country and world will never change for the better!
Stop being so self righteous!
Q. In the run-up to the 2004 election, who said: "Stay the Course"
A. ha,ha, trick question............the answer would be everyone in the Bush Administration.
BTW bonus points can be accrued if you dope-slap all of your relatives who believed that "stay the course" actually meant accomplishing some goal.

Damn Republicans...So extreme and radical! Gotta love 'em! NOT!
I actually think Hillary is better looking than Laura. Laura Bush is kind of mannish.
Does anyone else think that quiz had a g-force inducing pro-Obama spin?
I think they were trying to emphasize that all of the candidates message revolve around "change" not just Obama! I am a Hillary supporter and I actually got 6 out of 7 of the change questions right! I just bring that up because whenever I make a negetive point about Obama, I get the fatwa sicking me with accusations that I do not know anything about Obama! I think my answers prove I am listening to ALL of the candidates! Not just my favorite!
Who are you supporting?
Representative John Lewis announces he is going to vote for Obama (as a super delegate).
This may open a small floodgate.

Hey Bush was interviewed on the BBC. The national disgrace said some pretty crazy things (as usual).

The only places left in the world that would welcome a Bush interview are the Samoan Drum-Beat channel (our remaining Iraq 'coalition' member), and the US MSM. (Plus Jon Stewart, on nights when Mayer, Franken, and Cheney are busy elsewhere)
Pinkyleftbrain @ 120:
Did you notice the disclaimer that flashed across the screen after the Bush interview?
BBC changed their standard disclaimer wording from '......the views expressed by our guests are not necessarily the views of this station..........', by crossing out 'not necessarily', and adding 'definitely not'.

Fed Chair Bernanke says economic outlook is worse - http://ccoaler.blogspot.com/2008/02/bernanke-says-economic-outlook-is-wo...
Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke told Congress Thursday the economy is deteriorating and signaled a readiness to keep on lowering a key interest rate to shore things up. Bernanke also told the Senate Banking Committee that the one-two punch of housing and credit crises has greatly strained the economy.
And he forecast sluggish growth in the near term. Bernanke also noted that hiring has slowed and that people are likely to tighten their belts further because of high energy prices and plummeting home values.

Tax Cuts to top 5% DO NOTHING POSITIVE FOR ECONOMY: Yet the rich devote a smaller percentage of their earnings to buying things than the rest of us because, after all, they’re rich. They already have most of what they want. Instead of buying, and thus stimulating the American economy, the rich are more likely to invest their earnings wherever around the world they can get the highest return.

Comcast Declares War On Consumers - http://www.freepress.net/news/30416
Caught red-handed, cable giant Comcast mounted a flimsy defense of Internet blocking in a filing with the FCC. They say they are managing a few bandwidth hogs, but they're actually undercutting competition.
“If Comcast succeeds with this ruse, the future of the Internet will be controlled by network owners. And instead of the open Internet, we’ll have a bunch of walled gardens” a chilling move that no consumer wants.

Soldiering On :Prince Charles, Richard Branson compare climate crisis to war. - http://grist.org/news/2008/02/14/war/
Prince Charles warned in a speech on Thursday that if a "courageous and revolutionary" approach to tackling climate change is not undertaken, "the result will be catastrophe for all of us but with the poorest in our world hit hardest of all. In this sense it is surely comparable to war." Also this week, Virgin Group big gun Richard Branson suggested at a United Nations conference that an "environmental war room" be set up to combine "entrepreneurial muscle, the best possible data, and the power to mobilize resources and influence policy." OK, so we're at war with the climate; the question is, who's winning?
That is exactly what this is....its a war. Not against the Earth. But against those who believe insanely....that its not happening/we can't do anything about it....
Its a war against Old Energy, Old instutition, Old Earth philosophies which is destructive in unquantifiable number of ways; against new technologies, new sustainable/renewable sources of Energy/New Energy, and reality itself...

"We don't inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children" - David Brower
why should he "stay on" when he's been so successful setting things up for daddy, cheney & co? there would be no reason to. halliburton et al have everything they want. they've installed laws that will prevent the people from stopping them and other corporations who continue to reak havoc on the world. or perhaps it was a last ditch effort to rake in the massive, enormous amts of bloody dough before the next president "faces" climate change. mission accomplished indeed!
bush was just the guy who was willing to be hated by the entire world while they changed up a few things. we were supposed to hate him, we were supposed to think he was an idiot, b/c he wasn't trying to be president. he was just trying to make things easier to make a profit. all that cague business about enemy combatants- that's probably so when climate change really does start happening, and people start to realize it, there going to probably freak out and stop corps from tearing down the amazon, or- whoa- stop exxon etc. but now bushco has a way to prevent that!
back to w- george w bush doesn't even want to be president. i don't think he ever did. and if he really wanted to delcare himself "king," don't you think there would be more of a push to get people to like him? don't you think he would have been a little more secretive? too many people knew about his atrocities, and he really didn't try to hide it. i mean, yes, there have been more secrets with this administration than any other, but still we've been too privy to everything. and with a low approval rating? dictators tend to make themselves a lot more present in the lives of "their people." and even when people know them as "butchers," how many times have we even seen bush?
i just have never believed the occasional rumbling over possibility of w declaring himself dictator- there are so many reasons not to. and one of them is this: why would the powers that be declare any one of their puppets dictator when the democracy ruse is so successful? perhaps a bit tinfoily as well, but it's something i haven't ruled out. b/c of the way even the democratic primaries/caucusi have been run, what with the least corporate/lobbyist hopefuls mocked and shut out and what not. just a theory.

The only reason Hillary traveled to so many countries was her pursuit of Bill, who was screwing every snake and skank he could get his hands on, worldwide. As far as comparing Hillary and Laura, go to YouTube and search, 'Pussies, Laura and Hillary'. You'll see that Laura's has hardly been used, and any American male would easily get past the used part.
oops- my "reply" @ 132 was actually supposed to contain a quote pertaining to the possibility of w'S dictatorship.
Mitt made all the statements from a. to h., re: change.
He also made all the ones from i. to z., how come you left those out, was it just space considerations, or were you concerned about embarrassing him?
I mean, he was both for and against change, but that's just politics, US-style.
Speaking of change, Neil Young has been talking sense lately:
