Protecting McCain

Any word from Chris Matthews on Hagee's endorsement of McCain? I went through all his shows since last Tuesday and I didn't see Chris Matthews mention one word about the Hagee/McCain hook up controversy on Hardball. Are you surprised? After the Cunningham debacle, I didn't think Tweety would give the Hagee story a mention. He brought up the name of Farrakhan numerous times when he talked about Obama and was all over Hillary today, but still silence on Hagee.

If you've seen one let me know. Bill Donohue has been a frequent quest on Hardball when he attacks the left so what's up, Mr. Matthews? As Jane Hamsher says: Fair is fair, right?

a Council on Foreign Relations protection play for the Hillary/McCain showdown.

"There's really five companies that control 90 percent of what we read, see and hear." - Ted Turner

Just utter confirmation that Matthews is a biased journalist. Yes, those in the know (all who read this site) already knew that, but CM can't say otherwise now. No objectivity with him.

Most these fuckers claim that they are independents. I choose to believe their profiles. Matthews is a Republican whore.

I think Tweety is about to implode with the conflicting demands:

"Must support Repubs on my show, and must let Repubs come on....but can't let anything negative be said about any Repub so can't let Donahue on...but I love Donahue when he attacks the left and I can't become enemies with Donahue....but, but, but"

Chrissy will have Tom Delay on to discuss it.

matthews is just another suck-ass mouthpiece for the reichwingneocons.

If we could just replace Matthews with the SNL impersonation of him the world would be a better place

GE's main tool is protecting McWar. No surprise.

And now we have the Dem primaries taking all the coverage for days so the Hagee story will not have a chance at air time.

Let's face it, Chris Matthew Worships St. John the Baathist

Tweety, like any other corporate "journalist" or talking head (Keith Olbermann is the exception and fluke that proves the rule) only does what his corporate paymasters expect of him. That's to spin positive narratives of Republicans and negative ones of Democrats. The Corporate Media needs total control at the FCC and they will stop at nothing to install another Republican regime in the Presidency to get it. Hey, it's just business after all!

The tables can easily be turned on these talking heads and they can be the ones asked the questions. It's time one of his guests brought this oversight to his attention. Busy with other campaign stories, he must have overlooked this one.

I posted on my site as well as Daily Kos a few weeks ago how Matthews is yet another tool of the Right Wing. Daily Kos people didn't believe me. Wonder what they think now!

Stephanie Miller should never have apologized for calling this right-wing tool a right-wing tool.

As the Democrats get closer to their November victory, the blatant propaganda and right-wing servitude of the media will become desperately clear.

Then Bush will invade Iran, declare martial law, suspend elections, arrest the Democratic candidate, and this whole annoying campaign season will finally come to an end...

he's slightly biased, just an eetsy teeny weeny bit.but ya'd never know by the way he does his thing, would ya?

Maybe tweety is the closet lover of McCrazyCain?

While I have grown to dislike Tweety after all these years I never thought he was this bad. Shame on you Chris Matthews. Go to the same hell and your friend Tucker Carlson. You have entered his realm.

please let Hillary have it!

MSNBC is almost as bad as FOX. It starts off with 3 hours of the most annoying show on TV, Morning Joe. It is usually 3 solid hours of Democratic bashing with Mika stumbling around trying to get a word in somewhere. Mika and Joe mostly give me a headache, so I quit watching. It has an hour of Tweety and an hour of Tucker. More Dem. bashing. Olberman is the only show worth watching. It finally ends up with Dan Abrams, which has some decent content and most times not.

Actually Tweety is a mole working undercover for Faux News.

FunMe @ 18:

Does Tom Delay know?!

One can only hope that Obama stays safe, the vote doesn't get hacked and he wins the presidency . At this point I don't care if he's on outright liar. I already know that McCain and Clinton are . And it would be a pleasure to watch the melt-down of overpaid right wing shills like Tweety, Russert, Limbaugh, Tucker, everyone connected with Fox, Scarborough and the rest of the swamp .

Off-topic: Clinton is on the Daily Show right now. Jon Stewart is interviewing her.

I can't believe...well, actually I can...Clinton just said earlier today that McCain has more experience than Obama!? Whose side is Clinton on?

matthews has lots of man crushes. The one he has on McCain is a big one...

Clinton is on McCain's side. No doubt. She and Bill do not put party above anything. It's sincerely power with them. That is it. Fuck the rest.

Dude, McCain DOES HAVE more experience than Obama.

Are you advocating that truth be sacrificed for political expediency? Don't we criticize the Bush administration and Republicans in general for doing that?

Orangutan. @ 27:

Nope, Clinton is on Clinton's side.

In a way I can see why Matthews hasn't touched the Hagee endorsement. McCain is already on thin ice with many Conservative voters since they see him as to "Liberal" in his social Conservative views. With this Hagee endorsement McCain is now at risk of losing many Conservative Catholics who just may look to some other candidate to back (I.E. Democratic). In other words, Hagee's endorsement has further isolated McCain to the most extreme wing of the Evangelical Christian block.

Swashbuckler #28,
No, I'm not advocating forgoing the truth, and I'm not a dude either.

Here's Clinton's quote: "I think that I have a lifetime of experience that I will bring to the White House. I know Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience to the White House. And Senator Obama has a speech he gave in 2002," Clinton says.

and what Rachel Maddow had to say about it on Olbermann:

Rachel Maddow:

"This is what you say if you want to be McCain's choice for Vice President. It is not what you say if you are running for the Democratic nomination."

Keith Olbermann:

"Unbelievable."

Swashbuckler,
The point is that Clinton is ranking Obama third behind McCain in terms of his ability to become president.

Leslie @ 32:

Dudette,

From an experience perspective, he IS third (of Clinton, McCain and Obama).

You say you don't want to forego the truth, but then you criticize Clinton for saying the truth. Hmmm...

This is a major truth. Not being said or spread around alot but you are definitely on to something here.
I would love to confront Tweety face to face on his obvious bias and cluelessness, but these guys travel in their own little world, not to be bothered by actually having to interact with the riffraff, you know, people who post on blog sites!!

I watched the show. KO might as well have been wearing an "Obama for President" button on his jacket for the last month...

Swashbuckler,
Again, you're missing the point. Clinton is a Democrat, and Obama is a Democrat. If she wants a Democrat to win the White House, if she wants to defeat the GOP, why is she campaigning for McCain?

Why don't you follow the link and listen to the videotape.

She isn't campaigning for McCain, she's campaigning for herself. What she's saying is that she has the experience to take on McCain and Obama doesn't, so vote for her. It really isn't that hard to understand. It's the best differentiator she has, though it hasn't been that successful so far.

It is dubious that she has McCain's experience, but she certainly is more experienced than Obama.

perhaps the reason matthews is silent is because he too is a racist and mccain supporter. it would not be the first time a journalist's core beliefs came out through his silent voice.

wasn't it billie jean that said 'fair is fair'??

Don't VOTE for McCain. Don't Vote for another WAR PIG!!!!

Wow. Poor Tweety's sense of Journalistic Integrity must be SO conflicted.

Ooooooooop's . . . I forgot - Tweety doesn't have a sense of Journalistic Integrity.

Why doesn't eveyone send an email to Tweety and insist on a Hagee mention, if not a full blown story:

You never know.

Sorry, my link above didn't work: Try this: hardball@msnbc.com

EMAIL TWEETY TODAY!

Is it any surprise? The media is all over the alleged Obama / Farrakhan connection, a connection that Obama repeatedly denies. He has made it abundantly clear that he is not a Muslim and that he does not endorse the views of the Nation of Islam. But stil the media, and Fox News in particular, pretend not to hear him and keep railing on this point. Meanwhile, McCain will not denounce his foaming at the mouth televangelist "friend" and the media is playing softball with him on it.

This country is clearly fractured into two segments, something we were just discussing over at www.ElectionDebater.com and those are the people who have a clue and the clueless. In 2000 and worse in 2004 it became clear that half of our country were just complete morons. Underlying that is a huge sense of fear and violence that has come to embody and define the American psyche. It is time, now more than ever, for good people to rise up stop the stampede towards yet another war. We can and we must stop John McCain from being the next President of the United States. www.WeCanStopMcCain.org

"Just utter confirmation that Matthews is a biased journalist. "

Along with the rest of the corporate media.

Can Chris say, Donahue and Catholic League

He's a journalist, It must be in his vocabulary....?

Like John Sydney McCain. But Sydney is just to girlie right?

RIDE ON DOUBLE TALK EXPRESS LEADS TO WAR

John McCain is clearly focused on one thing and one thing only - WAR. He lives for it, he loves it, he's obsessed by it, it is his entire identity. He is a Post Traumatic Stress hot-headed and unstable lunatic who cares nothing about the will of the American people. He is loyal to his backers and his backers make a killing off of war, war and more war. It just so happens those are all of John McCain's personal interests as well. He's no sell out. He is a man of passion. And if elected, he will deliver.

In his own words, "Friends, I want to give you some straight talk. Friends, there are going to be more wars. I'm sorry to tell you, but there are going to be more wars...". Wow. Interesting Foriegn Policy approach there, John.

After 2004 it became apparent to me what I had been trying to forget after the 2000 election, that much of America is just plain stupid. It would be foolish to under-estimate their stpuidity this time around. McCain, like Bush before him, can win. We cannot let that happen.

Unfortunately Hilary Clinton represents the exact same special interests that McCain does. They should run on the same ticket.

There is only one serious contender who is sane and that is Barack Obama. If you measure who the best candidate is by body count, consider that over 1.1 million people have died as the result of the Iraqi invasion. Consider also that Hilary and McCain pushed this forward every step of the way and remember that only Barack had the decency and good common sense to oppose this needless invasion from the very start, even when it was unpopular.

Someone who speaks in straight talk doesn't have to keep reminding you that it's straight talk. They just speak the truth. And that is why my vote is enthusiastically for Barack Obama this election season.

www.WeCanStopMcCain.org

Leave it to the Clintons to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory for the Democratic Party. It is not as if they have not done it before. A win in 92 for the Clintons was a defeat for the rest of the Party in 94. It took until 2006 to recover from them. Now here we go again.

What do you mean? I sure know what a tool he is.

That GE/NBC tolerates this piece of shit tells me everything I need to know about GE and NBC. this is just one of the reasons why I will never buy a GE product.

I won't be happy until I see Matthews (and his diseased ilk) running for his life from an angry mob.

It's damaging to her campaign, if she's the nominee, and to Obama's, if he's the nominee, to tout McCain as the more experienced candidate. It's simply dumb for a Democratic candidate to essentially say McCain is the better candidate. Why even mention him?

Remember how incredulous he was when Miller called him a "right wing tool?" He just stared at her. What was going through his head at the point?

I watched as much as I could stand of Tweety's show yesterday. I was actually embarassed for him. Things are pretty bad when Joe Scarborough and Noron are voices of reason trying to talk Tweety down out of his crazy tree.

uh, matthews went after cunningham last week. he thought cunningham was way out of line.

oh, and yesterday he said "this is what i don't like about this country" when showing a clip of how obama was forced to say yet again how he is a christian. he obviously was bothered that obama is being smeared.

some of you should actually, you know, watch the show.

Neocons like Chris Matthews are above being held accountable.

Just ask Nancy Pelosi.

Of course Stephanie Miller is banned from the Chris Matthews Shows now.

who you tryin to get crazy with ese don't you know mcshitstaininsane is loco?

Chris Matthews is incredibly biased and a shill for lots of things, but the Republican party isn't one of them. Try actually watching his show, and not just the clips posted here on C&L, and I think you'll find that his bias swings wide the other direction.

Tweety's bias does indeed swing wide the other way. If by "other way" and "swing wide" you mean a "wide stance" type of way.

I'm surprised he can speak, what with his mouth wrapped around the private parts of ancient Republican has-beens in their depends and Aqua Velva.
