h/t Batocchio. Some of us are talking about carrying a pocket full of flag pins so when we hear that stupid talking point, we can hand one over with the line, "Gee, I see you don't have one. Here. Now you look just like Larry Craig's mugshot."

If Clinton wins Ohio- you'll know the ballot is rigged.
Anything but Billary! Cuz she's a Republican!
(Just when I thought I heard it all)
Some good news tonight: Kucinich has a big lead. http://vote.sos.state.oh.us/pls/enr/f?p=152:5:0
McCain Suggests He Won't Investigate Bush Corruption
Despite rhetoric about tackling corruption in Washington, John McCain does not appear too eager to look into the current administration. When asked today about supporting independent investigations into the Bush administration, McCain replied:
"I do not agree with your sentiment that there has been widespread corruption. I just don't accept that. And by the way my friends do you think it would be nice if the President of the United States got a little bit of credit for the fact that there has not been another attack on the United States of America since 9-11? I think he deserves some credit for that. I really do."

prediction: Hillary/Obama vs McCain/Romney.
DREARY BROOCH
Pin a heart on us, the living;
We, the unmoving.
The deceased have more breath
Than our breathing.
Emblems of our emptiness
And weakness
Puncturing hunger’s sleeve with
Dreary brooch.
Cackling our minute’s final gasp
With warring,
Weak idols pinned to proud chests,
Unfilled, all.
Pin sweet thoughts upon the dull,
Not pennants
Of gluttony, empire, warfare
And oil.
Whilst our children die for those
Already dead
Let us begin anew with this; the worlds
Flagless living.
john @ 5:
I really doubt that Clinton would picks Obama, and Obama certainly wants nothing to do with the Clintons. But hypothetically, I might consider voting for her if she chooses him for VP.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the multi-talented, sardonically funny tunesmith, Raaaaandy Newman!
I love the idea of carrying around a sack of flag pins. If I knew someone who made them in the USA and was not a right-winger, I'd buy some and wear 3 like Sam Seder.
What a great post!
I live in Australia and hope HOPE HOPE HOPE that a Democrat wins in November.
No preference really - both Hillary and Barrack are EXCELLENT candidates.
And although I respect Mr McCain's excellent war record (something your current President doesn't have) - well if the Repukes are gonna piss all over John Kerry's war record - then Mr McCain is now fair game!!!
It'd be wonderful if Hillary and Barrack just pull the plug on their campaigning and decide to run TOGETHER!!!! How great would that be???
Mind you - I think Hillary should be President and Obama VP. Nope not a racial thing - just an experience thing. Hillary is older and more experienced and has a pretty great former Prez as her hubby. And of course Obama will be Acting Prez when she is away. What a great win-win-win-win solution!!!
C'mon - you know if McCain wins - his VP will be either Romney (my 5 sons don't have to fight in Iraq to be patriotic) or worse Lieberman (I'm a Repuke, no Democrat, no Repuke, no Democrat, no Repuke, No democrat - ok i'm an independent - well really a Repuke!!!)
It is time for Hillary and Barrack to stop fighting amongst themselves and run TOGETHER!!!!!
First female Prez and first black VP! How good is that?
The rest of the world will SOOOOOOOOO RESPECT THAT!!!
6 poetryman...
Sad and too true. I'm feeling a bit down about all the shit that's goin' down. Our way of life is changing, for the entire planet. Not just one or two isolated places, but the whole shebang.
erin - i would probably say those lapel pins are being made in some sweatshop in Asia!
Yep - that is very patriotic don't you think????
Flag pins are too expensive. Let's just use post-its.
Hillary takes Texas. What a glorious night this has been for neocons.
The picture of obamba is during the national anthem.
I was taught in the Boy Scouts that when in civies to put my hand over my heart during the pledge and to keep arms down during, hands, not in pockets, the national anthem.
Also the national anthem is not a sing along unless invited.
My post-it will have an image of a boot crushing a face . . forever.
Reminds me of the Jennifer Aniston character in "Office Space"
Not wearing enough flair.
When Kingston says "I don't follow you on that", what does that mean? He said it on Real Time. Now he's repeating this line. Is he just stupid, or does he just think everyone else is?
Gloria Borger is such a republican bitch. Her along with Candy Crowley are so biased in their "reporting". They don't get criticized enough here.
Bently @ 1:
Actually that's a disingenuous comment. Ohio has been sharply affected by NAFTA, therefore, they have a very sharp opinion on NAFTA and has become one of the major issues, if not thee major issue, of that state.
You should respect the voters opinion on issues you are not affected by or knowledgeable about. I'm from Texas and I was directly affected by NAFTA when Levi's took the road to cheaper labor down south and left us high and dry in El Paso, TX. We were promised good job training by NAFTA and they delivered none.
Saying that Ohio's votes were rigged is much like saying that you feel stupid people voted for Hilary because they refused to ignore issues that don't affect you. Well they're going to vote on issues that affect them and kick you to the curb. Obama's stance on NAFTA has been very weak and flaky to put it mildly. Now, I'm not a fan of any Wal-Mart lawyer or any corporate lawyer, but I guess it does come down to picking the lesser evil of them and the Democrats of Ohio chose Hilary.
Let's not forget the American sugar farmer that gets the shaft from CAFTA and border communities crushed economically by NAFTA. Let's not forget about the heartland farmer that still collects welfare while still working full-time at their farm but can't make ends meet.
Stolen elections is a very serious problem as the 2000 and 2004 elections proved, but lets not trivialize the charges by throwing them everywhere and everything that didn't go your way. Maybe if you were directly affected by NAFTA like me, you would have seen that Hilary had the stronger argument. It's something very important to me because NAFTA destroyed my family and I almost take it as a personal insult that you would dare cry foul just because they didn't vote for Obama, whom I feel is a fake after looking at his voting record. Hilary isn't a beacon of light either, but when she speaks on NAFTA, she speaks knowledgeably on the subject that makes me feel she can help us better with the NAFTA problem than Obama.
Was it for the Texas caucus Hillary instructed her supporters to cheat? We don't know the results of that yet, correct?
Doesn't it make you absolutely sick. When obama looses it's rigged it's crooked lets vote over lets recount. BUT when oprah payed to bus in hundreds of thousand students from other states to vote in a caucus that was fine. When Minnesota (my state) changed the caucus and consolidated most of them moving them fifty miles away from a lot of us voters, and of course in rural Minnesota no transportation, that was OK> The states in winning are just about even, except for the caucus states. obama can't win a big state he wins the piddle ones. And steals the caucus. We see now what obama supporters do. The press is reporting that they sneak in caucus sign in cards they gathered all thru the day, they sneak in and confiscate the controller cards so they can control the caucus, damn that's what they have been doing all along. And look at what the press reported in Ohio they had gangs challenging voters rights to vote. I knew it wouldn't take long for obama's rabble rousers to make their presence known. This is the type of people that the viagra poppers support.
And all the wimpy ass men can say is we want a strong man...crooked as hell but strong. HA HA HA HA
Get a grip, Marge.
Thanks Bluegal I neede that.
I know how to do math - Clinton has to win every following contest at 65% or more to catch up on pledged delegates and win the superdelegates to her side.
Rumor is that 50-70 delegates are coming out for Barack at once tomorrow or in the following days in a blunt to any gains (if any) clinton walks out of tonight with.
I'm not going to shout any disappointment or glee in any specific candidate right now, but I will say I'm getting very, very antsy for our party to make up its goddamned mind and get busy fighting McCain. As it is right now the infighting is ruining the November chances, and whoever runs more negative during the run up to Pennsylvania will probably have my distrust and dislike for the rest of my life.
Seriously.

Brattleboro, Vermont, Votes to Indict Bush and Cheney
By David Swanson
Brattleboro, Vt., voted today in support of a measure calling on the town’s police force to arrest and indict Bush and Cheney. The vote was 2012-1795.
Marlboro, Vt., passed a similar measure at its town meeting today at which the vote to indict Bush and Cheney was 43-25-3. That’s 43 in favor and 3 abstaining. Thus Marlboro beat Brattleboro to it by a few hours. In Brattleboro, the indictment question was on the primary ballots for both parties.
Here’s a kit for other towns to use: http://afterdowningstreet.org/indictkit
Your president and vice one are virtually WANTED MEN in two American cities. West Hollywood, Ca. and Kennebunkport, Me. are soon to follow.
Only in America can I become the President and/or Vice One AND be a criminal who is supported by a Congress of Co-Opters.

Ok, the dream thing is really wierd, but not any more wierd than what I did tonight.
Yes, I did it; I voted in the Democratic primary and I feel like I need a bath. Voted for Hillary Clinton. Don't think I'm the only cross-over out ther either. I got there at 6:30 (took over an hour anda half to vote). But only because I was in the demo line. There were like 8 republicans in the repub line and several hundred in the Dark force line. Now, this is Texas and there are alota repubs here.
I know of three people that were crossovers there that I spoke w/. Got a few good laughs in line (I didn't hide what I was doin). Best line..."guess this is the no smokin line" ..very few laughs tho. Most popular line.."I've never voted in the democratic primary before..do I get to vote twice?"
+- +- +- +-
So tonight Reck lives up to his pseudo ...
My response -

Leave it to a Republican't to vote purely to keep the best candidate from winning.
There's a reason I call you a "...can't", Reck.

Douche bag. Look it up. His picture is there.
Everytime I think I might be able to vote for Hillary should she become the nominee, she goes and pulls some Bush/Rove repuke stunt like she did this weekend in Ohio and Texas.
I'm so sick of GOP bullshittactics like "the ends justify the means" bullshit I could puke! Way to go Hill. I feel a Nader vote coming on if Mrs. "win at all costs" power hungry bitch gets the nod.

This open thread, I thought it was a thread for saying whatever there are no threads about, so whether it is or it ain't, I have been wanting to SAY (in case he's listening, even) that Bill Richardson look SOOOO HANDSOME with a beard. I'm not trying to be cute. The look is fantastico! Hope he keeps it when our new president makes him Secretary of Defense or State.
Also, I sure hope the Don Siedelman issue isn't falling off the RADAR.
i wonder if media matters is gonna cover the story of the clinton campaign running radio commercials as faux news reports with the following script
"This is an election news update with a major news story reported by the AP. While Senator Obama has crisscrossed Ohio giving speeches attacking NAFTA, his top economic advisor was telling the Canadians that was all just political maneuvering. A newly released document from the Canadian government shows that Obama’s senior economic advisor met with the Canadian Consul General and made clear that Obama’s attack on NAFTA were just, quote, “political maneuvering,” not policy. Political maneuvering, not policy. In fact, the document shows that Obama’s advisor also assured the Canadians that these attacks against NAFTA would not continue. Obama would not want to be, quote, “fundamentally changing the agreement.” As Senator Obama was telling one story to Ohio, his campaign was telling a very different story to Canada. How will Ohioans decide whether they can believe Senator Obama’s words? We’ll find that out on election day. Paid for by Hillary Clinton for President."
D'oh! Tanks! I really do like the flag lapel pin idea, though. Mail a bunch to Kingston and make a media event of it, so that he's never without one, because, y'know, that's true patriotism.
i swear, during the next canadian election cycle, i will organize thousands of progressives to throw a wrench into the conservative party's election chances
this is the first time in my memory where a foreign government inserted themselves into our election process
southpark was right....dont trust canadians, with their flappy heads and beady eyes
uncle joe @ 38 I MediaMatters did have a mention of that. If they didn't then they should. They should also run the CBC (Canadian television network) story on how the Obama/Canada story was distorted and misrepresented in the American media and by the other candidates. I'm surprised they didn't mention Rush stumping for Clinton on his radio program and trying to get out the vote. I am glad they showed the Nedra Pickler AP smears, that was getting annoying.
On a different note, I'm happy for Clinton in getting her victories but I wonder where all of this really can go. She didn't eat into his delegate numbers enough to make any difference and this is still going to go to a brokered convention, which ought to be a disaster for everyone but McCain. The thing that does bother me is the incredible negative campaigning that's going on from our side, especially getting the 527's into the fray and embracing the exact type of campaigning that we always complain about when the Repubs do it. I have a feeling that Obama is going to have to drop down into the mud and really fight fire with fire.
It's no wonder that everyone is so incredibly cynical about politics.
sigh...
worth fighting for?
Marge makes Clinton supporters look FUNNY, I'm sorry to have to say. A bunny with a pancake on its head is in order.
What is the word for people who say "all you silly stupid idiot men" and things like that? You mean there isn't one? We're going to need one in just 2 more generations, if we haven't all boarded the spaceship to Venus by then. We need Dave Chapelle to get to work on it.
Goooooood night.
Roark77 @ 41:
and when are the msm gonna start asking clinton about peter paul, the internet huckster who helped raise millions for her first senate campaign?
obama getting a pass??
its hillary who has been treated with kid gloves
Bently @ 1:
Right, typical southern, redneck, midwestern bigoted bias of the liberal democratic vocal minority. Maybe that's why the elite Obama lost in Ohio. Because Ohioans are not as podunk and stupid as you thought.
It's Obama who has been given a free pass. Just over the last 2 days when reporters started actually asking him questions he fell apart being even then, no one reported his meltdown. People only complaign about media bias when the bias doesn't run in your personal favour. Thing is, that works for Hillary but politics as usual don't work for the 'change candidate'. Welcome to the real world babies.
Let's watch how often C&L runs stories about the ongoing Tony Rezkco story.
Right.
uncle joe@44 I'm just tired of negative campaigning. I'm stuck having to watch piles of NRCC ads attacking Bill Foster in his campaign against Jim Oberweis to take Denny Hastert's seat in a special election. Oberweis violated some campaign laws so he had to pull all of his commercials and the NRCC stepped in with something like $1 million in ads to make up the difference. They are on all the time. All. The. Time.
Splendid @ 45:
ok....let c&l run rezkco stories
but also let it run paul stories
lets see which stories are dirtier
and maybe that press conference hasnt gotten traction cuz there is no there, there
the candidate was asked to answer questions regarding stories with no validity...i suggest you listen to the libs in the canadian parliament going ballistic over the leaked memos
clinton proved that she can only win by going negative
if that is the way she runs the rest of the campaign....gets the nom, and then runs the general in the same fashion....then its more of the same for our country
and by her speech tonite, that is exactly what she will do
its 3am....do you know where your morals are?
Whilst certainly Hillary has gotten a raw deal from the Lame Stream Media, Obama certainly hasn't gotten a free pass. McCain't's who's gotten the free pass.
Anyhow, I've been reading a little about the caucus action here in Houston, and it appears that Obama's doing better in the caucus than the primary. I think they'll basicly split the delegates in Texas, when it's all said and done. Yeah it's a big win for Senator Clinton in Ohio (how much of *that* vote was rigged?), but it's not enough to sway the total delegate count enough IMHO. Mathmatically speaking, Hillary still has a tough road to win it.
Roark77 @ 46:
i know....makes one sick
but it really puts that crying jag by hillary in a new light
her tearful "politics is not a game to me" was all bullshit
Another gang shooting.
More important than Kucinich, two Iraq vets won Ohio.
uncle joe mccarthy @ 47:
LOL
Ignore Obama's slimes, smears, negative whispers and ads. How can the kool-aid drinkers complain that Obama's own words are negative smears? Own words??? LOL
Look how Obama has used race-baiting, religious fear-mongering, etc. then complain hippocryte.
I love watching you expose your candidate as a snivling nose whiny baby when he thinks he deserves the national spotlight. Hysterical.
Splendid@45 The Rezko bit should be interesting. Especially since the judge in the trial is a Ken Starr protege that worked on Whitewater. The parallels between the two cases are fairly interesting and I'm betting there's about as much dirt as well.
The biggest hook against Obama was that Rezko got him some kind of big discount on his house because of Rezko and that was debunked by the sellers themselves, Fredric Wondisford and Sally Radovick. There are a few other points that can be blunted but it's very reminiscent of Whitewater to say the least.
Obama donated his Rezko donations to charity. I haven't been able to find out if Clinton co-chair Antonio Villaraigosa ever gave his Rezko donations to charity. I'm sure McCain will figure that out when and if he ever needs to.
Splendid@52 I know I shouldn't feed the trolls but I have to ask two questions that I would love to get answers for.
1. Which candidate do you plan to vote for in the general election?
2. When has Obama used race baiting? Secondly when has Obama used religious fear mongering? I suppose that's two questions in one but I'd like an example of each please. Thanks.
I wouldn't say that any of the three candidates aren't being hypocritical at various times. But I would also find it difficult to argue that there isn't a very strong negative campaign being launched and so far only one candidate has used 527's in an attack capacity.
A MESSAGE TO ALL DITTO HEADS
Thanks! :D
RUSH LIMBAUGH February 29, 2008:
“I don't know if the audience is mobilizing or not. I am urging people — I am using a phrase — the Republicans — our nominee is chosen. It's John McCain.
Texas is open. And I want Hillary to stay in this, Laura. This is too good a soap opera. We need Barack Obama bloodied up politically, and it's obvious that the Republicans are not going to do it and don't have the stomach for it.
As you probably know, we're getting all kinds of memos from the RNC saying not to be critical there. Mark MacKinnon of McCain's campaign says he'll quit if they get critical over Obama.
This is the presidency of the United States you're talking about. I want our party to win. I want the Democrats to lose. They're in the midst of tearing themselves apart right now. It is fascinating to watch, and it's all going to stop if Hillary loses.
So yes, I'm asking to cross over and, if they can stomach it — I know it's a difficult thing to do to vote for a Clinton — but it will sustain this soap opera, and it's something I think we need. It would be fun, too.”

Splendid @ 52:
what are you on about??
was it obama who darkened his pic? was it obama who brought up jessie jackson? was it obama who sent emails saying he is a muslim?
the canadian government comes out and says the memo was false...but hillary keeps talking about it
it was hillary who created a fear based ad and then repeated the text of that ad in her speech last nite
i may be a kool-aide drinker, but it seems you are using some serious hallucanigenics
and please, as a clinton supporter, explain her statement regarding her and st john having experience and obama having a speech
explain why she said in her speech tonite that we will "win the war in iraq and afghanistan"
explain why she never has to apologize for cheerleading on the war
you wont....you cant....and neither can she
and that is why i will never vote for her

John @ 55: Yes, I'm certain my friend Recknhavic was following Rush's instructions. In fact he's said publicly that he listens to (and respects) Rush. What a loser!!!! (sorry Reck, since I have a feeling that you're lurking this thread, but really. Rush is a proven liar, hack and everything else.)
uncle joe, Clinton actually said "end the war in Iraq and win the war in Afghanistan." It's a slight difference but an important one.
Thank you, Hillary, for going negative on Obama. You've proven you'll do anything to win, even if you can't win and can only dirty the waters enough to ruin Democratic momentum and do what nobody thought would happen -- elect another fucking Republican to the White House.
Who would've thought that Hillary Clinton would be John McCain's kingmaker?
Roark77 @ 60:
i stand corrected...i misunderstood her
but the war in iraq has been over for years...it is now an occupation

MIDDLETOWN — Republican voters in the Middletown area appear to be heeding radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh's call for them to cast their ballot for Democrat Hillary Clinton in the March 4 primary election.
Several precinct judges in Middletown and Franklin Twp. said they've seen a "larger than usual" number of Republicans switching over to Democratic ballots. With Republican presidential candidate John McCain having all but sewn up the GOP nomination, Limbaugh urged Republican voters to cast their ballots for Clinton. His reason: To bloody up Barack Obama politically.

It's over - it's just that Hillary won't admit that. The only way she could win would be with unbelievable chicanery - and Republican assistance. (Crist , the Rethug gov of Fla, has publicly stated his willingness to have a "do-over" Dem primary. - and the Clinton campaign is trying to seat both - Fla & Mich - delegations.)
The fact is that Obama is gonna take the nomination and sweep in a record number of Democrats with his coattails. Sooner everybody faces that, the bigger that landslide will be.
Hey, great post - can someone PLEASE tell me which Randy Newman song that is, and bonus points if they can tell me what album it's found on!

Like the off-white and fading 'Support the Troops' SUV magnets, flag lapel pins are made in China.
"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross."
-Sinclair Lewis-
"The nation is divided, half patriots and half traitors, and no man can tell which from which."
-Mark Twain-
80 Chico Says: “When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross.”
-Sinclair Lewis-
“The nation is divided, half patriots and half traitors, and no man can tell which from which.”
-Mark Twain-
------>>Both excellent quotes.
The half that are traitors are the ones wearing lapel pins, WHILE robbing the treasury and sending troops overseas without proper equipment, in case you wanted a handy guide to the differentiate the two.
--->If I wear six lapel pins does that make me a super-patriot? Eight: godlike?
HA! That's hilarious.
No plan other than to cry on national tv about someone's lapel? Perhaps they should try talking about all their 'accomplishments' in office.
Like all the arrests, prosecutions and investigations against their members. Or how about the never ending stream of scandals? Or hey let's not forget a recession, housing market collapse, the skyrocketing price of oil and of course the illegal occupation of a foreign nation. Rendition, secret prisons, torture. Illegal wire tapping, contempt of congress.
And they want to snark about a 5 cent piece of plastic that doesn't appear on the lapel of a democrat?
You'd think one or two of them might be clever enough to figure out why the population hates them and their dancing chimp so much. But that's probably asking a lot.
If HRC is the Democratic Nominee, McCain is going to be the next proxy for Bush's 3rd term as president.
As a young man in the 70-80's I had a US flag patch sewn on my levi's jacket. It initiated some interesting invitations in my global travels. When Reagan bombed innocents in Libya under the guise of fighting terrorism, I removed it in shame and became the enemy with the rethugs I worked with. Haven't worn the colors since.
I am reminded of the first 10 minutes of the movie Schindler's List where Herr Schindler, seeking to ingratiate himself with some Nazi logistics mucky-muck and get a contract for war materiel supply, prominently installs and adjusts his Nazi Party lapel pin, making sure he displays his (millimeter deep) support for the regime, and thus, the country.
Is that what this lapel pin crap is all about?
You know... The Nazi's had pieces of flair that they made the jews wear...

WHY NO NUCLEAR POWER: A toxic Time Bomb in the Northwest - http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/03/02/AR200803...
The Bush Crime Family wants to increase spending on every major category of our government's nuclear program except one: cleaning up the toxic legacy that lurks at nuclear reservations and facilities around the nation.
The administration wants more funding for nuclear weaponry, nuclear energy, nuclear science and management. But it would spend $800 million less on environmental cleanups at 20 federal nuclear sites in 14 states.
Its request for cleanups at nuclear sites in several states is the lowest since 1997.
Just below ground at the Hanford site are 177 enormous steel tanks. They contain 53M gal. of heavy metals, acids, solvents and highly radioactive elements, incldg plutonium, cesium, strontium and uranium. 67 tanks are confirmed leakers, and nearly all are well beyond their design lifespan. According to the GAO, the fed'l gov't and its contractors also buried 1000's of tons of radioactive and hazardous waste in unlined landfills and injected 450 billion gallons of liquid waste into ponds, ditches and drainfields at the site.
McCain's Nuclear Waste: Washington Dispatch: How the Arizona senator doomed his own global warming legislation with billions in nuclear subsidies. - http://www.motherjones.com/washington_dispatch/2008/03/john-mccain-nucle...
"To his credit, he was a leader in the Republican Party on climate change," Wayland says. But by pushing breaks for nuclear power, McCain damaged a cause he had been passionately advocating for, leaving this particular battlefield with self-inflicted wounds.
WP: Senator Clinton's "durability is impressive if not astonishing, but she is still looking at some pretty cold, hard numbers in the race," said Jim Jordan, a Democratic strategist who initially ran the 2004 primary campaign of Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.). "She's running out of time, she's running out of space." He described a Clinton nomination even with wins in Texas and Ohio as "impossible, really."

"Though she still faces a virtually insurmountable disadvantage in the delegate chase, the New York senator managed to keep her campaign afloat with a "kitchen sink" attack strategy designed to raise doubts about Obama. It worked, but to what end?..."Despite Obama's impressive victories in February, Clinton's comeback is based on sowing political seeds of doubt," said Donna Brazile, a Democratic strategist and one of nearly 800 party leaders known as superdelegates for their ability to determine the nomination. "In order to clinch the nomination, he must anticipate the worst attacks ever."

John McCain is willing to walk us backwards, throw us back to a time when kids died far more frequently, back to a time before childhood vaccines.
I’m sure I’m insulting whatever intelligence remains with these people, but we can’t afford another President who puts winning the Presidency before caring for children.

Report, Tom Brokaw: Obama has 50 superdelegates waiting to endorse - http://www.americablog.com/2008/03/tom-brokaw-obama-has-50-superdelegate...
Obama's already got a 100+ delegate lead. Add 50 supers to that and it nullifies her win and puts him further ahead and pretty much out of reach even if she wins out the rest of the primaries (which she has no chance of doing).
If some of those supers were already committed to Clinton and switch (which 6 have already) it's even worse for her.
St. Paul prepares for RNC protestors - http://kstp.com/article/stories/S365179.shtml?cat=89
Pham cannot finalize the details until her group gets a permit. The problem for her, is that she’s been trying to get that permit for a year and a half."It’s just the city's way of stalling until they come up with a plan. They have no problem coming up with a plan to put tasers in the hands of every officer, but they can't figure out where to put tens of thousands of people. I think it's outrageous,"
St. Paul to purchase Tasers just in time for Republican National Convention - http://www.minnesotamonitor.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=3217
The St. Paul Police Department is requesting 230 Tasers to outfit the all of the department's officers with the electroshock weapon. The purchase is expected to arrive in St. Paul just in time for the RNC prompting media speculation that the weapons are being purchased specifically for the convention.

Denial-a-Palooza is a Media Hit, just not the kind the 'organizers' of the 'conference' wanted - http://www.desmogblog.com/ny-denial-a-palooza-is-a-media-hit
Global Warming Denier/'skeptic' conference draws laughs from CM (corporate media): While Heartland wants to position the conference as a "smashing success," the New York Times, CNN - even that 'raving left-wing' apology sheet the Wall Street Journal - have all lifted their delicate hands and snickered. CNN, in a spot that left the cool dudes at Newsbusters apoplectic, went so far as to call the assembled skeptics "flat earthers."
It's interesting, per Andy Revkin's New York Times piece, that the coal industry's pet scientist, Pat Michaels, stood up at the conference, acknowledged that humans are causing climate change and predicted a three-degree Fahrenheit temperature increase this century (a relative disaster scenario, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). Then he said that was really no problem and that we shouldn't bother taking any action to prevent this from happening.
"If sowing confusion is the goal, these guys are still on their game. But if they were hoping to be taken seriously, alas, time, climate and public understanding has passed them by."
Andy Revkin on this farce: Cool View of Science at Meeting on Warming - http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/04/science/earth/04climate.html?_r=1&oref...
The 'meeting' was largely framed around 'science', but after the luncheon, when an organizer made an announcement asking all of the scientists in the large hall to move to the front for a group picture, 19 men did so. LOL!!!!!! (gee...what a turnout....look how many wanted their picture taken!)
Not only does my wife not sing the national anthem, she refuses to stand whenever it's played. The reason? She is 100% native American i would love for Mr. Kingston to say something about that.I would be the first to in line, to cave his sorry-ass face in!!!
Hey! How about a thanks to Randy Newman. His song is the best thing about the video.
IF SHE WINS I WILL VOTE REPUBLICAN
IF HE WINS I WILL VOTE REPUBLICAN
i am an EDWARDS democrat and since MY LITTLE CANDIDATE didn’t win the primary i’m going to take my balls and go home and cry and pout and kick the floor, holding my breath until i turn colors and mommy comes in to rub my back and tell me it will all be okay
IT IS NO WONDER THE CRYBABY DEMOCRATS CAN’T WIN AN ELECTION…
… THEY RUN HOME AND DON’T VOTE IF THEY DON’T GET THEIR ITSY BITSY WAY
BOO HOO HOO….. TIME TO CALL THE WAAAAAAMBULANCE!!!
A Clean, Fair Fight
Congress still has time to stop some of the worst offenses of vote suppression by passing two bills intended to prevent cynical dirty tricks.
The repugs win without throwing a punch because the Dems punch each other silly, then join with the other side.
the hannity thinks Obama thread convinces me that the dems will lose because they are so used to losing, they can't accept winning any more. even with victory in sight, they work against their own candidates.
Monday night I was talking with someone I soon came to realize was a card carrying, global warming denying, GOP voting, pro-Iraq war, Faux Noose watching individual... I was able to shoot down every single one of his tired-ass talking points. The conversation was heated indeed, but not hostile, and before it was over, we were like old friends, and he bought me a beer.
In the grand scheme o' things, it don't mean squadoo, but DAMN if it didn't make me feel good. And on a side note, despite that the bar in question is kinda a redneck dive bar, most of the folks who were around to witness the debate (albeit an alcohol inspired debate) were folks who had voted GOP the last two elections, and having talked to most of them previously, they are ashamed, and shocked that their party has done what it has to this country. And they were all givin that guy shit for sticking with the repugs when it's so obvious they're all fascist crooks.
Again...might not mean a thing, but it was damn satisfying.
CoIntelPro @ 95:
Thanx to George W. Bush, even the DEMOCRATS can't stop a Democrat from winning this November ! Bush will make this too easy, it almost wont be fair. Obama or Hillary will get more credit than they deserve.
It's like an NBA team that just beat the NY Knicks by 50 points and think they're a good team.
With EITHER Hillary or McCain in the White House, the one big winner is Israel which is safer now and can heave a sigh of relief. Now we can go ahead with war with Iran as planned and continue to fight Israel's wars for it at taxpayer expense. Israel can also rest assured it can continue stealing another 6 trillion dollars, and who knows why not more? The sky's the limit. Thanks D.Z.
Not By A Long Shot
Chico @ 97
I agree 100%. Especially since Bush has just endorsed McBain for prez. Talk about a campaign killer!
The video and ensuing comments are an inspiration to me. I was going to anyway, but I will FER SHER be on hand in November to vote against all repuglicans, especially Senator John McCain, who is their nominee strictly and only because that's how far the country has moved AWAY from BUSHCO. Luckily, McCain doesn't seem to realize that this is how he got the nomination, and he'll run as a phony card-carrying member of BUSHCO, staunchly backed by a squadron of flag-pin-wearing Boehner types who are as deeply in the dark about this as he is.
One thing. If you meet a dejected soul who was once an exuberant Ron Paulie...be nice, treat him or her like she is one of YOU, not one of THEM. Same goes for God-fearing Democrats and good bush-hating "Obamicans." Don't run them off. That's been done at progressive blogs, and if it isn't too late, it's time to stop.
WASHINGTON - FBI Director Robert Mueller says an upcoming Justice Department report will show the bureau improperly used national security letters to obtain personal data on Americans during terror and spy investigations.
Liberal candidates and spoke persons are suppose to understand that working people are unemployed or over worked for less pay, yet just like christian TV personalities every time I see a liberal web site they are asking me to donate money.
Now I must buy lapel pins to hand out?
Where is all this extra money coming from with everyone?
People are losing their homes. People are sick and do not have health care. I think if I'm going to throw around money I'll give it to people in need and not spend money to reply to a worthless America Hating Republican.
America is homeless, sick, uninsured and hungry. F! those lapel pins, I got other uses for my money, like food and shelter for those the New World Order is beating down.
Seven years later and voting machines are still hackable. Why WOULDN'T there be another stolen election? And the sheeple really imagine we have a democracy.
Hell, even Venezeula has more of a democracy than we do. By the way , folks, our life expectancy has just declined to 29th place in the world (Jordan is 27th).Just thought you'd like to know.
I wouldn't put it past Hillary to ask Joe Lieberman (R-ISR) to be her Vice President. This is my biggest reason for preferring Obama. In the end, we couldn't do much worse than McCain, so if she is the Democratic candidate, I will vote for her anyway.
The other reason I am not that excited about Hillary is that she will never pursue the crimes of the Bush administration. Their excuse will be the same as it was when Bill Clinton allowed the Iran-Iraq-Contra gang off the hook, and the end result will be the same. The talking point is that America wants to move on and out it all behind us. Nothing could be further from the truth. America wants to put things right, and show the world that we are still a nation of good people.
Oh yeah...regarding my post @ 96...forgot to mention this individual I was politely discussing the state of American politics with, dropped this gem on me..."oil is a renewable source of energy"...I've heard this BS before...it MIGHT renew if left unmolested for say...several billion years...
