What if they built a “Rule of Law Complex” and nobody came?
Build it, and they will come. Lawless and law abiding people alike. When enough complacent and apathetic people are let in, it too will become a showcase for fascisme.
Oh boy Dow just went below 12,000.
LA, I'm just waiting for the deck of cards to collapse. Some of these talking heads are laying the blame of the economy right on the middle class. Give me a break. I guess the fact that a gallon of milk is $4 eludes them?

My guess is Employers will start putting hidden cameras in the work place so when the boss or supervisor leaves the room and everyone starts goofing off . . . well the rest is obvious.

No kidding man!
This summary about sums it up!
The market continues to walk a tightrope. One false move, and into the abyss it goes. So far, the team on the rope with the balance poles has skillfully regained its hold each time it appeared that they were on the edge of falling into oblivion. The name of the game is to keep the audience’s expectations alive. As long as they are on the rope, the audience will keep buying tickets and keep cheering them on. But the actors know that if the audience leaves, their high wire act would end with them plunging to their demise. So they use every scary trick they know to keep the audience in the show.
LA, watching these talking heads defend these CEO's who walk off with millions is surreal. They are protecting the beast. I, myself, would love to see these idiots lose everything and have to live in the real world, now that would be poetic justice.

Well at least theres this:
"Carlyle fund woes deepen"
FDA: Heparin illnesses now in Germany
WASHINGTON - Dialysis patients in Germany have gotten sick using a different brand of the blood thinner heparin than was linked to 19 American deaths, U.S. officials announced Thursday, sparking concern that the problem could be more widespread than originally believed.
...
Baxter wasn't implicated in the German illnesses, and that's what raises the question of a bigger heparin problem.
Instead, the FDA said that Germany is recalling heparin made by a German company that uses a different supplier of raw heparin ingredients than Baxter does.
Heparin is derived from pig intestines, and Baxter gets its supply from China, which is the world's leading source of heparin. The FDA wouldn't say whether the German company, which it identified as RotexMedica GmbH, also bought from a Chinese supplier.
...
German authorities were looking into the report of a contamination but would not confirm that the product had been recalled, said a German government official who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about the matter.

Meanwhile the German authorities recalled the drug. And yes, the German company also bought it in China.
I like Obama but I wish he would can the god-talk. He doesn't use it as divisively as Huckabee but it's still just cheap pandering.

It's out of control.
You know when McIgnorant first spouted off about vaccination I remember wondering how many parents would listen to his ill informed bullshit and decide not to get their children vaccinated. Of that group of children, how many do you suppose would develop severe, even mortal complications of a disease they should have been protected against. If the answer is one more than zero then John McCain has some blood on his hands. The appalling thing is that he did it as casually as throwing a puppy off a cliff.

Hey, I'm all for taking any and all shots at McCain, but that Bad Astronomy bit was just a cheap shot at McCarthy-
I find no evidence from the article he linked that McCarthy is anti-science at all. As a person who has been involved with the mother of an austistic child, I daresay that those same mothers who deal with this situation every single day and network with thousands of like mothers - may actually have a more valid point of view than his.
I understand BA having a dislike for her clutching at any and everything out there as giving her hope for her child, if it doesn't meet his exacting scientific specifications. But ,whatever gives Ms McCarthy hope to deal with this situation is fine by me. It's a horrible situation for a parent to be in with their child. And believe you me, if your own child were in it, and Science wasn't giving you ANY answers whatsoever at this point, you would be grasping at any hope out there.
In the article he linked, (which was a cheap local tv network which gave us more info on her hair color and who she was dating than it did on Autism) her plea was simply was to get the word out that vitamin supplements and diet was helping children like hers in the families she networks with, and apparently, the medical community wasn't responding to her experience.
She's got every right to reach out to other parents. American Doctors, in my experience concerning autism (and in many other parent's experience) aren't very helpful or even concerned as they simply wait for your all-omniscient scientific community to solve the problem for them. Well, good luck with that- but until then, I am sure if her advice gets to a few parents of autistic children and it does help even in the tiniest bit, it was well worth the "cost" of her merely speaking out.
Ah, shucks. A big secular bless you, Mike!

I will never ever vote for Hillary. She is awful. She will sell out the party and destroy a good man like Obama in her power mad drive.I don't care what anyone thinks. I will never ever vote for that evil woman.
Clinton must in turn fire Mr. Wolfson. This is the appropriate recourse! We have shown how classy we are, it is time for retribution!
I am going to immediately go to Amazon.com and order Samatha Power's book as a demonstration of my support for her courage, knowledge and grace.
We need to make more noise than the hysterical supporters of that nasty Clinton.
I don't know about yall but everytime i hear HRC or think about her, the word "monster" plays throughout my mind! This is a good thing!!

Dollar sinks lower after US payrolls number By Sarah O’Connor
Published: March 7 2008 11:43 | Last updated: March 7 2008 14:04
Grim economic data from the US on Friday sent the already weak dollar tumbling to fresh lows against a basket of six major currencies.
Employment data showed 63,000 jobs were lost in the US last month, the biggest decline in nearly five years, exacerbating fears of severe recession.
The greenback fell as low as $1.5465 against the euro, its weakest level ever aginst the single currency, just after the data were released.
Against the yen, the dollar tumbled to an eight-year low of Y101.44. It also sank to a historic trough against the Swiss franc of SFr1.0138.
But the move could have been sharper, analysts said, pointing out that the dollar had already fallen in expectation of weak data.

I assume this is the same Fade who commented on my BA site, and now I see you're making the same false claims here. I in fact linked to two different places making it very clear where Ms. McCarthy is antiscience. She says her son is an Indigo Child in one link, for example. That is New Age nonsense that from soup to nuts is antiscience.
And "whatever gives Ms McCarthy hope to deal with this situation is fine by me" is precisely the problem. In many cases like this -- and again, I provided links -- it's false hope, and it distracts from finding a real solution.
