Host: But can you get out and leave a government in Afghanistan that supports- that is a friend of the Soviet Union.
Vladimir Pozner: I believe we can get out, provided that indeed, that no more aid is given to what people here call freedom fighters and what we call counter-revolutionaries. I believe that's possible provided that the United States is also interested in the same.
Richard Perle: Well it's not very complicated, they arrived in a matter of days on Christmas eve in 1979, they can be home by Christmas eve if they decided to leave Afghanistan and let Afghans decide their own future. If you leave, the problem of support to the mujahedeen solves itself

Thanks to the musical, Hair - the following (Iraqis don't know how to count their blessings to have had the Coalition of the Willing come and help them out) - they should wander around singing:
I got life, mother
I got laughs, sister
I got freedom, brother
I got good times, man
I got crazy ways, daughter
I got million-dollar charm, cousin
I got headaches and toothaches
And bad times too
Like you

Where are the Congressional hearings? Where are the subpoenas? Where are the Congressional Democrats who are needed to hunt down the war profiteers and thieves?
It seems like it’s more business as usual in Washington, and way too late to just "turn the page" in Washington. We need a whole new book.

Bush = McCain = Bush
Why Is Bush So Happy?
The answer to this question is Bush has found someone to promise him a Third Bush Term and protect Bushco.” Bushco thanks John McCain
From the Bush WH
White House press secretary Dana Perino denied last week that Bush and McCain had been longtime rivals. “Absolutely not,” she said on Fox News.
“And while I think that might be a good story line for some people to say, to try, it’s simply not true. And I would say that hasn’t been true ever, but certainly after they were competitors, then, in 2000 and 2004, Senator McCain went on to work his tail off to help this president.”
From Washington Post
McCain has also been a strong Bush ally, most especially in the battle to liberalize immigration laws and to create a path to citizenship for people living illegally in the United States. He has reversed himself on the tax cuts, saying they should be made permanent; he has become the biggest supporter of Bush’s troop buildup in Iraq; and he sided with the president against a bill — vetoed this weekend — that would have banned waterboarding by the CIA. Congressional Quarterly reports that McCain supported Bush 90 percent of the time in five of the first six years of his presidency.

The question of what should be done with these war criminals is #1 we start talking about it and asking questions. I would like this question posed to both of our Democratic candidates and demand a real answer - not spin and avoidance. We hear a lot about change but change will not come without healing and our nation will not heal until those responsible for destroying so much of it are held responsible. We didn't heal after nixon because there was no accountability and we didn't heal after Reagan/Bush because there was no accountablity for their crimes (Iran/Contra). We are a nation of laws and those laws should not be reserved only for the unwashed masses.
Oil prices hit another record high today. We are bleeding from both ends both at the pump and in the budget busting cost of the war.
But hey, Halliburton got no bid government contracts and Cheney's Halliburton stock has increased over 3000% since BushCo lied America into this conflict so it's still Mission Accomplished!

Some in congress are trying to get the ball rolling on these crimes. The candidates are not the the ones to push the congress. They have no control of congress. They are senators and have only a very slim majority and won't be able to accomplish anything.

But what all Americans, regardless of party, will make sure is that no one connected to the BUSH Administration
has spots in cabinets and positions within the white house in 2009 or EVER again.

I believe that we will have an expanded majority in both the House & Senate in 09 and a President can certainly encourage them in their endeavor to hold these people accountable.
