Sometimes the jokes just write themselves:

While grappling with MSNBC and CNN for viewers, Fox News has also been battling a smaller, more insidious enemy closer to home: bed bugs in its Midtown Manhattan newsroom. In an interview on Monday, Warren Vandeveer, senior vice president for operations and engineering at Fox News, said the cable channel had realized it had a problem a few weeks ago, when an employee “caught a bug and showed it to us.” An exterminator determined that the incursion was limited to a “very small area in the newsroom.” But the source of the bugs was not determined until the exterminator inspected the homes of about 20 employees. Mr. Vandeveer said the exterminator later described one employee’s home as having “the worst infestation he had seen in 25 years in the business.”

O'Reilly you filthy Paddy, clean your clothes man......

I was thinking the same thing...

Hey, wrapping yourself in duct tape and plastic wrap does have its drawbacks.

Too bad it wasn't crab lice...

Now that Karl Rove is in the building, suddenly the place is riddled with bugs.

Not the first time.

B

Now when are they going to get to work on removing all the dung beetles from in front of the cameras ?

Fox News will give each bug a tiny flag pin and will call it another Republican national Convention.

As I commented on TP, this is a job for Tom Delay!!

I think we're all on the same page here as to who is the likely candidate for the infestation. And ,by the way Verdillac, there's no reason to rule out crabs. Always hope for the best.

"Did I strongly disagree with many of his political views? Absolutely - just as I'm sure many of you have heard remarks from your pastors, priests, or rabbis with which you strongly disagreed. ...

In the end, then, what is called for is nothing more, and nothing less, than what all the world's great religions demand - that we do unto others as we would have them do unto us. Let us be our brother's keeper, Scripture tells us. Let us be our sister's keeper."

That says it ALL, folks.

Maybe BillO can lend someone a loofah to try to clean up the bugs.

Fox News apparently now gives a crab comb and a tube of Kwell with their swag baskets.

This helps to explain why so many Foxoids act like they have a bug up their ass.

I know a surefire solution. Bill shaves half his pubic area and soaks the other half with lighter fluid. He sparks it up and stabs the little bastards with an icepick when they run for it. I'm sure it will work.

“I can no more disown (Rev. What a beautiful and courageous speech by Barack today.

Oh and Heuristically programmed Algorithmic Computer.

Faux should have fingered the person with scabs and scratching a lots.

I have long been a supporter of Mr. Obama. I have talked to friends and family members about him and his message of "change", alas after hearing Barack's rhetoric regarding the Israeli/Palestinian conflict I am ashamed of myself and ashamed of having been a staunch supporter of his.

I have just formed a letter alerting all my friends, colleagues and fellow workers, as well as congregation members of the remarks he made today. It seems that Mr. Obama is either not familiar with the facts surrounding the Israeli/Palestinian conflict or is simply choosing to ignore them because he has sold his soul to the highest bidder.

Obama's comments are a slap in the face to all Israelis and Palestinians alike who have been trying to achieve a lasting peace in the middle east. It is a slap in the face to all the moderates who support his message of change. Yet, it seems the only change he has in mind is limited to the United States. And as he continues the failed policies and hateful and ignorant rhetoric of his predecessor, G.W. Bush, he fails thousands in the Middle East who work hard to find common ground between fellow Jews, Muslims and Christians alike.

Mr. Obama ignores Israel's continued settlement expansion and arrogant disregard for countless UN resolutions condemning its actions in the West Bank and Gaza. Mr. Obama, it seems, has adopted the narrative of the Israeli right wing Likud party, just like G.W. Bush has done.

I work as a public relations officer at NY based human rights organization and have very colleagues who are prominent members among the Arab/Muslim community. Those Palestinians who have supported and have been instrumental in brining peace to the region have been painted today with a broad brush by Mr. Obama, as hateful and perverse radical Muslims.

This kind of rhetoric will not unify moderates from both sides or bring them together, but it will further alienate them from each other and from a just and lasting peace. Mr. Obama has failed himself today, as well as many Muslims, Arabs and Palestinians. From now on, I will do my best to inform as many voters as I can that Barack Obama is a politician who is pandering to the highest bidder, one who is no different than the current commander in chief, one who is not about honest change as he so eloquently likes to claim.

Shame on you, Senator.

Hey America...being a hostage doesn't give you military experience. In order to BE a hostage you HAVE TO surrender to the enemy. So we go from a guy who refused to serve to a guy who got caught. The reference in Obama's speech to Israel that I find is this:

[re Pastor Wright] a view that sees the conflicts in the Middle East as rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies like Israel, instead of emanating from the perverse and hateful ideologies of radical Islam.

I believe that:

1) - he was not expansive today on the Israeli question, he needs to be.

2) - while the second half could be construed as pointing to the Palestinians, I don't take it that way.

I think the writer should ask for clarification from Mr. Obama.

If it is found wanting in that regard it needs to be addressed.

Being a hostage does not have to involve surrendering. McCain was shot down while in the line of duty and was badly injured at the time. It really disappoints me and makes me learn that freedom of speech allows even idiots to speak. For those that don't get it - context clues are your best friend.

I'm talking about the post regarding the Marlboro Man (Iraq soldier) and how his words were misconstrued to allow poster's egos to get the better of them .

The soldier said:

When I look at the picture, I don’t see much of nothing. Make of it what you want, what you will. I was just doing what the hell I was told at the time. I didn’t ask for it, never did want nothing to do with it.

Instantly the entire comments section was distorted into a debate on something that was never said by the soldier. Really sick. Americans are truly full of themselves.

The soldier was not talking about him joining the war. It was about the PICTURE. He said "When I look at the picture, I don’t see much of nothing." That should signal that the following comments are about the PICTURE, NOT joining the war.

He didn't ask to become an icon for the war. Make of whatever you want of the picture, he was just doing what the hell he was told at that time. He didn't ask for the attention and didn't want nothing to do with being an icon for the war.

Americans are fucking idiots and don't know how to read. Nothing to misconstrue there. Take it at face value. Any contention to that and all I have to say is we allowed Bush to steal the elections TWICE. Shame on us, and shame on you for taking the soldiers comments out of context.

"...But the remarks that have caused this recent firestorm weren’t simply controversial. They weren’t simply a religious leader’s effort to speak out against perceived injustice. Instead, they expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country – a view that sees white racism as endemic, and that elevates what is wrong with America above all that we know is right with America; a view that sees the conflicts in the Middle East as rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies like Israel, instead of emanating from the perverse and hateful ideologies of radical Islam."

He's talking about this. The following made me cringe a little too. It would be nice to hear a politician not suck up to Israel, but with AIPAC watching your every move, I guess you don't really have a choice:

"...But the remarks that have caused this recent firestorm weren’t simply controversial. They weren’t simply a religious leader’s effort to speak out against perceived injustice. Instead, they expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country – a view that sees white racism as endemic, and that elevates what is wrong with America above all that we know is right with America; a view that sees the conflicts in the Middle East as rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies like Israel, instead of emanating from the perverse and hateful ideologies of radical Islam."

I think the remarks you are referring to are the Reverand Wright's remarks. I didn't hear Obama justifying or making any such remarks.

Nah, it was easy to tell the difference. Bugs have clear purpose in their eyes. Fox News employees have vacant, empty stares.

Murtha endorses Clinton....LOL

the kiss of death right there...

murtha is the up there stuffing his pockets with the most corrupt members of congress....she must be thrilled to have his endorsement...

she should see if she can't get Jefferson down in LA to endorse her as well....before they lock him up and he loses that superdelegate vote

Seems quite fitting. Those are some weird folks that I see on the videos from the Pravda network....even the chickies are scary.

It's a lot better now that the Clinton supporters pulled their lame strike business. Especially after they did it because Kos wouldn't support Clinton. The irony of people fighting for free expression demanding allegiance to their viewpoint is lost. It probably goes with the cognitive dissonance they must suffer having to reconcile the Republican tactics that go against the ideals that most of them sincerely believe in.

Your eloquence is astounding. Not only are you not well informed, but you choose to hear the parts you like and ignore others. Senator Obama's speech is available here:

If you read it carefully, especially the part in question, you will understand my point. Otherwise, please re-read the speech until you understand it.

Thank you.

You are dense and absolutely off your rocker.

No, sir, that is not a chain letter. I believe you need to familiar yourself with the very definition of the word hate. And you can doubt anything you want.

Sir, if my views are confusing then perhaps you need to elevate the level of discourse on your part, put mildly.

As to the other commenters who attack without understand my post or the speech they heard today, please visit Senator Obama's website where you will find a transcript of the speech. There, I'm sure, you can re-read it to your heart's content until you understand the points I am attempting to illustrate.

Finally, just because I'm polite and respectful does NOT mean that this is a chain letter, a Faux Noise letter or any other sort of document. I choose to not stoop to a certain level. I know, it's shocking.

If the following 18 vote Democratic in November, we win the White House:

California, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Oregon, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, Washington DC, and Wisconsin.

We're actually in pretty decent shape.

Bah, bedbugs are truly annoying... When I lived in Boston a few years back my place got a small infestation (fortunately I caught it very early) Damn bugs gave me nightmares for years.

That bedbug story is f*ckin' hilarious.

And totally disgusting. The little bloodsucking critters must have found their way into the upholstery of the office chairs, green room sofas. Maybe even the anchor chairs on the set.

That's poetic justice for you. While O'Reilly spews his bile, his bony ass is being eaten by horrible bugs.

Who's still around?

FOX News is Official AV supplier for DN Convention!!!

Just heard Mike Rogers on Air America (he broke Larry Craig Story.) Apparently Fox News won the pull to be the official supplier of all Audio and Video for all network coverage of the convention. If they don't want you to hear the whole speech - "sorry, technical difficulties" and no one in the U.S. hears the speech. DNC communications chair says that it isn't a problem because there will be independent streaming of the convention at DNC.org. If you don't like the network coverage, you can just go to dnc.org and watch there.

What's more, this has been known and under wraps since september - DNC is claiming they have NO CONTROL over it. What a load of c.

RIP indeed. Clarke was a giant (one of the "big three") but had a long life. Minghella was only 54! I heard him speak out here. Very gracious and humble.

And another fun fact...

Add one more state to that list (any state), and there'd be enough for a treaty to make the national popular vote the deciding factor in presidential elections.

If enough states enter into a treaty that to commit their respective electoral vote to the winner of the national popular vote, then the national popular vote would decide presidential elections without the need for a Constitutional Amendment.

So, it just takes 18 states to agree to the treaty.

Apparently in a linear fashion, but it could just be a section of a really big circle...

Steal this bumper sticker/talking point, PLEASE! -

"The Constitution: Love it, or leave America"

You don't even have to give me credit in this case.

From an eyewitness account at FOX,

"Ann Coulter showed up and dropped her panties, all the critters jumped back in, problem solved."

(Okay Okay YES I stole this from a post out there somewhere, and then paraphrased it, and I WISH I remember who said it, I would give them credit, they deserve credit not me, but it's too GOOD not to include in this thread.)

Why does C & L lock up my PC for several minutes when I try to leave a comment?

#128 Peoples Front of Judea,

You might want to offer more information up about the problem. Like what kind of CPU, RAM, Harddrive, Browser, extensions, version of javascript, firewall[s] used, router[s], speed of your connection, etc... Or just check those items on your own.

Example:
IPCop + Kerio, DSL, 3.2Ghz 1G ram, Sata drives, jre1.6, firefox, noscript, adblock

I get a quick progress meter popup that says loading... The screen background darkens and it lasts 1-2 seconds, then poof it goes away and the post is done.

All is relative. If you think the world is flat, go to central Minnesota and look at the horizon. The earth is indeed round, and time may catch up. When I fly though different time zones, those who deny evolution are proved wrong.

And, by the bye, Einstein was no brain surgeon.

It's from thinkprogess.org thread about the bed bugs.

"Bed Bug Is mean and evil, Don't do me no good.
Bed Bug Is mean and evil, Don't do me no good.

Considering how they feed I would think the bedbug would prefer the thin skinned.

Good luck with your dreams of a socialist, nanny gov. wtf, hello, wake UP

A dollar says one of the rotating door "flavor of the month" tarts that FOX puts on camera didn't completely pass the sniff test...

After reading Obama's speech, I went online and donated money to his campaign. First Presidential donation ever!

Naturally, I turn on Morning Joe this morning, and the first words out of Scarburro's mouth are nothing but derisive, sneering Republican BS. God, he's a loathsome right-wing tool.

Pat Buchanan and Joe Scarborough are the kind of personalities that, back during slavery, would have written treatises in which they proclaimed, in arrogant tones, that Negroes *liked* being slaves! (There were plenty of such tracts actually written at the time. They read like the work of madmen, but one thing I've learned in my life is that madmen rule, or at least wield much power in, the world.)

Same goes for the washed-up DOBs they put on all the time as well...

Funny how the "nanny state" meme is actually code for "They want 2% of my taxes to provide social safety nets, and I don't care about other people, so gimme my 2%!"

I have a new meme for Republicans -- follow your masters at Halliburton and MOVE TO F*CKING DUBAI if you want total economic freedom. You can still work in the US, but you'll get to keep ALL your taxes! Isn't that great!? You can profit maximally with no contribution whatsoever to the well-being of your community or your country, since who gives a crap about that, right?

It's really only a matter of time before the military-industrial complex gets so powerful and so autonomous that it starts offering gated-community (or even single-family estate) defense contracts, and the Republicans (and their unwitting dupes, the Libertarians) can eliminate the last thing left on the list of stuff that even they admit needs to be handled by a central government. Then the United States of America will revert to the Isolated, Every-Man-For-Himself, Devil-Take-the-Hindmost, Hey-Maybe-We-Should-Try-Slavery-Again States of America.

I'm not sure whether or not I want to live to see it happen. But that's what the Republican Machine is going for, whether they realize it or not.

Real Change? @ 23:

I have long been a supporter of Mr. Obama. I have talked to friends and family members about him and his message of "change", alas after hearing Barack's rhetoric regarding the Israeli/Palestinian conflict I am ashamed of myself and ashamed of having been a staunch supporter of his.

I have just formed a letter alerting all my friends, colleagues and fellow workers, as well as congregation members of the remarks he made today. . . . blah blah blah . . . . Israeli/Palestinian conflict or is simply choosing to ignore them because he has sold his soul to the highest bidder . . . . blah blah blah

Obama's comments are a slap in the face to all Israelis. . . . blah blah blah . . . .
Shame on you, Senator.

It's a pity you don't mention which remarks you're railing against. Nonetheless, your concern is duly noted.

Brit Hume's new sign-off:
