"Why did we get it wrong?"

Any answer that has to do with the management of the war is wrong.

We should not have invaded Iraq--regardless of how well it could have been managed.

First - I think.

Fuck religion.

Err, second. Ah, well. v.v

The how do we screw thee roundup. Let us count the ways.

Any republicans want to elaborate?

Ha. Don Davis using the Dave Grohl "shiney demon" pic in the SPR.

RueMorgue's comment ftw. /agreed.

Regarding Hillary's religious affiliation...

I'm getting the spooky feeling that Hillary and Bill are more deeply sympathetic to the right wing than anybody suspects, even if it's on flimsy evidence.

First, I recall several years ago reading that Hillary had said the Democrats needed to bring more evangelicals into the Democratic fold. At the time, I didn't know she was in "the Family", had never heard of it, and I thought she was very unwisely triangulating to bring the nutcases associated with the Republicans into the Democratic party.

Then there was her enthusiastic and loud vote for the AUMF. Her vote against banning cluster bombs. Her support of an invasion of Iran. Her absence from the vote on telecom immunity, even though she was in town.

She's a perfect fit for a Bush Dog Democrat, and there's a move among Democratic activists to challenge and beat those in Congress next time they're up for election. I hope Hillary's on their list.

Not only is McCain in some hot water with the FEC his run for president is being questioned in court.

Born in Panama not the Canal Zone, as he claims, could end his run. John McCain like it or not has dual citizenship Panama and US.

The Panama Canal argument is weak and won't even hold up in the most liberal of courts. Come on, we have to do better than to question whether or not someone is eligible who born to American Citizens while living overseas SERVING our country. These are the arguments they eat alive. Now his recent tour of the world in which some campaign money was used could be an issue...

Mike linked to my first piece about the "Ten Commandments Weekend," which I posted quickly just to let people know the resolution existed and to get the text of it up.

A few days later I posted a more complete piece about who's really behind this resolution, and the similar resolution introduced in the House. Big surprise...Sam Brownback does a bit of distorting of history in his resolution, just like Randy Forbes did in H. Res. 888, the "Religious History Week" resolution.

Here's the link:

Erik Prince scares me. Who the hell does he think he is?

I hope you will do a post on Cheney receiving an order of Merit from Saudi Arabia.

Despised at home, he gets recognition from the rich elites who matter the most to him.

Was what Rev. Wright really said, not the sound bites, that bad?

If anyone there came to Canada during one of our federal elections you'd be bored to tears. There's no talk of religion all the time(I'm not saying it's not talked about) no talk of race ,like what happens in the states. More or less the issues of the day are discussed.
And yah our politicians are crooks and liars too

Why Did We Get It Wrong?

Consider Chomsky from 09/19/01. A enormous reservoir of knowledge and insight.

And Bob Ostertag for good measure.

It's time to kick Jesus out of politics! No kidding.

Consider Sam Harris

Christopher Hitchens

Looking at it from a whole nother perspective: The Christian Gene!

Hi I just clicked on the link and was left shaking my head. All the problems you have going on in your country and there's a motion in the senate to declare the first weekend in may "Ten Commandments Weekend"
It just leaves me shaking my head

And when can we expect a complementary collection of essays from Slate entitled "Why WE got it right!"
AND maybe perhaps the replacement of thise who got it wrong with those who got it right?

( scans horizon for flying pigs)

Mike, thanks for the link to "Divine Wright?"!

If you could, please fix the link, which is broken by a stray period at the end of the URL.

Now it all seems to make sense......1hr 41min: The Doomsday Code

WTF? So now Andrew Sullivan is considered a "liberal hawk"? Yet he has always labelled himself a "conservative" and good friend of Matt Drudge.

"How Did I Get Iraq Wrong? I didn't," by Christopher Hitchens. Posted March 17, 2008.

Who didn't see that coming? Christopher Hitchens is so delusional right now. Richard Dawkins opposed the war from the start, but the only thing people will remember is Hitchens lying to himself for 5 years.

Good for blackwater, we need a good, tough force like this to replace the UN

Yes, But if Obama was born in Panama we certainly would hears from Justices Roberts, Alito, and Scalia, because it's not the Liberal court that undermines the Constitution, it's the conservative court. And as Long as the candidate in question is a Republican they'll be fine.
