Jon Stewart rips on FOX News' Chris Wallace for starting an "Obama Watch" clock -- complete with "24"-like sound effects and ticker -- that tracks how long it's been since Obama promised he would appear on FOX News Sunday. Tweety catches flack too for some of the mindless questions he asked the Senator during Wednesday's Hardball College Tour.

Why would a democrat presidential candidate want to go on Fox News when they know they will be declared the looser when the election isn't over.

There really isn't any reason for any candidate to go on Fox News and I don't care how many clocks they put up. Fox News is run by ideology and its "News" is ideologically spun to fit those views that they want to present to the public. The same goes for any type of candidate or guest that goes on there regardless of party affiliation. If the guest (even if its a Republican) does not fit the views held by Fox News they will be shunned, ridiculed or silenced. Obama is doing the right thing by staying away from that "news" channel.

Chris Matthews has done a lot of damage to the Democratic primary in 2008. With what started out as a question, "can Barack Obama beat Hillary Clinton," ended with him doing everything he can sink her candidacy. During his 24/7 Clinton bashing campaign, he seized the opportunity to divide the Party to boot.
In part, due to Matthew's non stop attack machine, Obama enjoys a current funding advantage. No doubt, Clinton had to spend lots of money defending media generated attacks. Matthews' attacks became very popular with many news organizations. When Clinton lunched an attack, Matthews and others was right their to help turn it around. There is no one who has given the kind of free support Matthews has given to Obama. I guess you can say Obama owes him a lot. I am not at all happy with seeing him "hob knobbing" with Matthews. This brought be back to why I would not support Obama initially.
I found it hard to get by Matthews leading the charge to change the Democratic front runner, only to end up supporting John McCain. What does that tell you? This man's objective was to trash and degrade the Democratic front runners. He's has now started in on Obama in favor of McCain. Matthews can't make the claim "this is what happens to front runners." He is not going after his Republican hopeful.
If Obama would of at least distance himself from the steady unbalance attacks associated with Matthews, I would strike one up for unity. He has not: instead, he has soaked up Matthews dirty work as if they planed it together.
At this point, I am about the unity factor. I will cast my vote for Obama because it looks like he will win the nomination. The media is too hateful of Clinton to win. Every time she attempts to gain momentum, they bring her back down with group polling low numbers and all out attacks. At this point, the damage Obama inflicted with Matthews toward Clinton will only hurt the unity factor. He needs to distance himself from his Santa.

I said right there I think his trying to quit and asking smokers to join him in trying to quit is awesome. An influential guy like him could do a lot to raise awareness- especially with younger people, save lives and save untold millions in medical expenses. I din't say anything about his lying about it.

How the hell should I know why Chris didn't phrase the question in another way? I'm not his f'ing representative. But a big part of me agrees that whether or not he is smoking is not a big issue in this election and he should mind his own business knowing it is extremely hard to quit- I believe Matthew is a recovering alcoholic but I don't know that as fact, just that one time he said on Morning Joe that he hadn't had a drink in so many years- who knows, maybe he felt a kinship in that regard to him. The other part of me thinks it was a perfectly fine and pertinent question to ask since, like I posted for you, Obama had made his smoking a campaign item on his website, and maybe Matthews wanted him to expound.
As to the journalists who think he's lying about it and concluding that he will lie about anything- I'm not sure they are all Republicans, but I agree with you there. What he tells them shouldn't be an issue, whether he sneals a smoke here or there is not a big deal to me.
Do you really think McCain is senile, or in early-onset Alzheimers? Or is it just fun to come on here and say it? And don't get defensive about the journalists and whether or not Obama is smoking. It's just to balance out the claims the left will be screaming about concerning McCain's health.

Sure Fox news is low brow, but you think getting your political news from MSNBC(wasn't this Don Imus country?) or the Comedy Channel really places your opinion on a higher level than a Fox viewer-guess what? You are just as stupid as the average Fox viewer.

The reason Obama hasn't gone on Fox is because of all the bashing they have done. I doubt I need to explain them all here but saying he sounds like HITLER (and putting HITLER) on the screen in huge letters was a highlight. And saying Chairman Mao could only wish for a following like his. Fox News is not news in any sense.
