Senator David Vitter fell victim to a humiliating incident today. No, it wasn't the town hall meeting he held with LA residents discussing his hypocritical involvement in the "DC Madam" prostitution scandal. It was after the meeting when his driver backed into a parking sign while quickly fleeing the press.

Fender-benders aside, Vitter finds himself in some hot water now that Deborah Palfrey is going to trial and he's been named as a potential witness. As News 9 reports, Vitter may even invoke his 5th amendment rights. We'll be sure to follow this one.

That's what he gets for taking his hands off the wheel to play with himself...what a moron.

Isn't it illegal to back over a public sign and keep going?

The main point of the post is to cover the developments in the case -- namely, that he's been listed as a potential witness. The car accident was just a bonus.

I thought the same thing. According to the article, the police chief has addressed that:

Gonzales Police Chief Bill Landry says, following the incident, his department received a phone from Vitter's office offering to pay for any damages. Landry says the sign was slightly bent and was straightened out again. The sign did not need to be replaced, he said. Landry said the incident will not be pursued further. "We've had several of our police units hit the same sign," Chief Landry said.

Yeah, but shouldn't stay there and wait until the police write it up?

5th amendment rights are cool...

I invoke them everytime the IRS comes to my door to ask questions about my income tax return that they never got!

They ask how much money I made...then I drop the bomb...Can any info I give you be used against me in a court of law?

then the agents hang their heads and (reluctantly) are forced to say yes...

then I shut the door and they walk away...amazing!!! ...5th amendment rights are cool!!!

I look forward to grgy's award-winning blog that always posts items which never offend anybody's delicate sensibilities about what is or isn't news.

That's why I love cops, because even if the sign is in a stupid enough place that they themselves hit it, they'll leave it there. And you can bet your ass that if I hit that sign, I would get a ticket - or at least be expected to stop and tell someone. But of course, if its a Senator, "Oh no, sir, that was our fault."

Two other observations:

Does Vitter look ten years older and twenty pounds heavier than he did last year?

Was that a hybrid that Vitter was driving? Good for him!

it's all nonsense. vitter hit and damaged public property, then fled the scene of the accident before reporting it to the authorities and awaiting their arrival.
clearly a hit and run.
because of the erratic behaviour they should ave breathylized him, and given the out come, possibly tazed him and thrown him in the drunk tank for dui processing.

Now Vitter can be arrested for hit and run.

From the news report it does seem like he (and his driver) left the scene of an accident without reporting it. Fortunately it was just a parking sign, but that's still public property.

A few seconds after Vitter hit the sign and fled the scene, he ran into a prostitute.

I'm from Michigan, and I drive a car made in Indiana. It's a Subaru. My wife drives a car that was made in Canada with parts from Mexico, Brazil, and China. It's a Ford.

The big three have nobody but themselves to blame for losing market share.

Hey,

Senator Diaper Dave Vitter seems to be in a rushto get back to work.

That is funny because you have to have been at work to go back to it................

I see a playground in the background there. It's a good thing a small child wasn't standing behind that car when he fled that meeting.

even though vitter is a morons moron, he still stands tall in the republican party. they relish the fact that other than condoleeza rice, he is the only republican who messes (literally) around with women. the other republicans prefer men.

I really hope he's forced to testify and take the Fifth.
