All Spin Zone: John "Doubletalk" McCain fails the political courage test.
Collateral News: Remote controlled bugs are the Pentagon's latest attempt to spy on terrorists. Wait a few years and this new technology called 'Hybrid Insect Mems' or 'Hi-Mems' will be in the hands of domestic law enforcement flying around your living room.
The Strange Death of Liberal America: In March the Pentagon released a report that included some alarming findings on the rate of suicide among American troops in Iraq.
Elizabeth de la Vega: Bush's OSHA: No laws, no crimes
TBogg: Put your hand in the puppet head
ANNALS OF JOURNALISM: Six Pulitzers for WaPo, two for ex-LATers and a triumph for investigations...Richard Cohen has a race problem...Mad Kane's advice for biased journos and bloggers...Russert plays Altoona...Greenspan and our business media ignored reality...The Seattle Times discovers poor people ...Get ready for Round 2 in the Internet's Battle Royale of 2008...Reporter Eric Lichtblau on the WH efforts to kill the NYT's '04 warrantless wiretapping story...Chris Matthews Sucks!...New media: a lot like the old media...As Gitmo trials near, the Pentagon limits what can be reported...

The absence of regulations has been as Ms. de la Vega noted, the end of consequences. The opposite of the oath of office that the president takes has been instituted by this occupied white house.
The suicide rate among Iraq Veterans is sobering. These young men and women face violence day in and day out, only to come back and find inadequate Health care and an indifferent public. Here they are putting their lives on the line, while the Bush Adminisrtation tell us to spend, spend, spend. Why don't we have war bonds? Why don't we ration our resources? This is truly a tragedy.
Obama's Money Train...All Aboarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd!
Humanity has a long ways to go before we truthfully boast of Technological and Natural Achievement.
We are still killing, killing our own habitat, etc, etc.
Long ways to go.
‘Hybrid Insect Mems’

and, also, maybe for the first time, a 6 yr old equipped with a fly swatter will be able to take out our intel capabilities. no little johnny, not THAT fly, he cost 3.74 billion dollars!!!
Hannity & Colmes had quite the interview on last night. This Progressives is how you handle the Press!!
I think we can build a bipartisan consensus on the fact that Chris Matthews sucks.
I love the journalism roundups, although I do wish some blogs would add comments!
I'll add that I was very happy to see the Walter Reed series and the Angler series win Pulitzers for The Washington Post. I guessed that they would, but they were both absolutely superb, and in the D.C. area, which has a large number of families with servicepeople and veterans, there was a real outpouring of volunteer offers for Walter Reed. There's a ton of really crappy reporting out there, so it's good that we recognize and celebrate the good stuff.

If that happens and the government gives itself the authority to use those things on its own citizens, all that anyone can say is...there goes the Fourth Amendment! What protection could a citizen even remotely hope to have from "unreasonable search and seizure" if the government potentially has the capability and the authorization to enter someone's home and monitor what's going on inside without the resident's knowledge? Anyone who understands anything about human nature knows that anything like this which offers such an enormous potential for abuse and misuse almost certainly *will* be abused and misused. Am I the only person who finds this disquieting similar to the idea of the telescreens in George Orwell's "1984" -- the ones which can't be turned off, the ones which in addition to receiving information also transmit information and keep the Outer Party members subjected to the constant scrutiny of their government day and night?
First, we were informed that the government gave themselves the right to listen in on people's telephone calls...then, that they considered themselves at liberty to read people's mail (snail mail as well as e-mail)...and then, that they have the right to review people's financial records. I remember saying to someone a few months ago, "how soon will it be before they give themselves the right to put video cameras right inside in our homes so that they can see every move we make?" It would seem that the answer to that question is, frighteningly enough, "not that long at all -- and probably sooner than you think."
