Iraq's government has fired about 1,300 police officers and soldiers who refused to fight during a massive offensive against anti-American Shiite militants last month.

In many ways, I can't blame those Iraqi police officers and soldiers either. I mean, who would want to be seen as a traitor or collaborator by their own countrymen?
hopefully the job outlook for the rest come 2009 is the same

Talking about Fundamentalist Christians, it seems that even their "End Times" video games aren't going over to well. Left Behind Games Inc. is currently running at a really cheap 2 cents a share.

What about this tid bit - Keith Ellison says if people knew more about Islam then Jeremiah Wright's comments wouldn't be controversial - in other words, they would be factual? SOmeone needs to follow up with him on that...
he also said that those who oppose muslims want to "chop them up in little pieces"

Chris Hedges makes some acute and accurate criticism of the militarism of Hitchens and Harris, but he mixes into it some seriously flawed criticism of the straw man that he calls fundamentalist atheists.
I reviewed his book and addressed this, here

There is no such thing as a "fundamentalist atheist". Fundamentalism describes the literal interpretation of religious text. This in no way describes the atheistic point of view. Atheism isn't an "ism", its the absence of an "ism", hence the prefix "a" which means "without".
