Olbermann bests O'Reilly on "TV's Most Powerful" list

This makes me so very happy.

Holy Schnikes! Chris Matthews is Gonna' Blow a Gasket on this one!

Stewart/Colbert (and Poehler!) below Olbermann and O'Reilly? That don't seem right.

Media addicted America.

See you later. Things to do.

I used to watch Olbermann faithfully but since he jumped on the Obama bandwagon and every third word that comes out of his mouth is anti-Clinton I've tuned him out and turned
him off. I was fooled into thinking that he would only show his contempt and bias against the right-wing nutjobs and their shenanigans.

Now I see Olbermann and O'Reilly as different sides of the same coin.

There is someone standing in the dust behind Olberman. Who is that? Oh, now I see, it's BillO.

I imagine Colbert and Jon's show, because they are on later at night, probably get fewer watchers. I'm just guessing here. I know I never see their shows at night because I crash early and rise early.

Wow, just read some of the comments on that article. Touched a nerve, the Billobots are livid.

I love it!

I would have felt much better about it if Ailes and Orally hadn't made the list at all.

I went over to look at that list and I made the mistake of reading the comments.

WOW.

I'm officially worried about the future of this country.
So many hate-filled right-wingers, with no grasp on facts or reality -
they just parrot what Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly and Beck tell them to say.

I wonder if the stupidity of mainstream America can be
reversed before this country (and planet) to be beyond hope.

I loved the comments. So many want Drudge on there for a TV News power thing but keep referencing his site. He doesn't have his own show does he? Same for Rush Limbaugh. He hasn't had a TV show for ages. The rest are just angry cranks ignoring that FOX is still Uberpowerful even though its not real news.

Ouch Bill'O, that's got to hurt! It's about frigging time. Who are the jackasses that watch him anyway...nevermind.

I heard something this morning about Chris Matthews wanting to run for Senator in Pennsylvania. It was a clip from Colbert's show. I think Chris said he had always wanted to run for the Senate. I wonder if this is real or if he will use it as an excuse to walk away from his show if he knows he's about to get the boot?

I wish they would boot Chris' show and move Olberman to his time slot.

I'm afraid it's already too late to salvage this country. Facts and reality seem to be quite beyond the grasp of the audience of Limbaugh et. al. My only consolation is imagining the rats gnawing on their bones. I also made the mistake of reading the comments. I couldn't make it past the first 20 without a sense of impending doom.

#10 makes me ecstatic! poehler, stewart, colbert...
Invaluable assets: They get it.

Seems to me that puts them at #1 by default.

Good going!!!!

So last year Olbermann was ranked sixth and O'Reilly was unranked. This year Olbermann is still at the six spot while O'Reilly has climbed to seventh. Doesn't that mean O'Reilly is gaining on Olbermann?

Fox's Roger Ailes was ranked #1 last year. Now he's #2 behind NBC!

Wow, check out the comments below the list. Its right-wing troll mania!

Its a perfect example of the level of stupidty on the right.

Apparently tvweek.com is a very important website to reich-wingers. It's just more proof that reich-wingers have no life except for sitting in front of the tube.

Lets rank the best course of action with a pResident McCain Administration for a TeEvEe Poll

1. Leave the country
2. Jump off a cliff
3. Go into hiding
4. Join Em
5. Become Rip Van Winkle

guessing by the comments there - could only get through 20 or so - this story must have been posted on drudge or such first thing...

reich wingers say the dumbest things...

Comments on websites have always been most difficult. I am selective in my reading and responding. After all I do like a little relaxing reality TV in the evening so I can't damage the brain cells that much!!!

Only if you stand on your head.

Olbermann, most powerful = nothing, O’Reilly, more viewers than all networks combined in that time slot = $

Keith isn't against the Clintons personally, but rather against their tactics and the harms (real or imagined) that they seem to be causing the Democrat party.

For example, Keith was one of the first to stand up to the Clintons to chide them of saying that McCain would be a better president than Obama. If the Obama camp pulled the same tactics I'm pretty sure he would go against him.

That's a joke... show us the ratings that O'Reilly is doing better than "Dancing with the Stars" in that same time slot or are you just talking about basic cable?

O'Reilly is barely (barely) doing better than Keith, but Keith is leading among the key demographics (18-35 year olds).

Well, in that case, MSNBC has been moved away from some basic cable teirs, thus its numbers would be in a smaller amount of homes.

the comments there are the desperate failings of the last $28% who refuse to see how Bush has wrecked this country. The reason they are so shrill is because the have this nagging feeling they have been suckered by Bush. all the things they were told are coming out as lies, all the supposed moral values of their heroes are been proven to be corrupt, and reality is hitting them in the face, in the supermarket, in the gas tank, and in the pocket book. So they shout louder and louder, and repeat the republican mantras, in hopes of drowning out reality.

They are all pathetic

After with the Clintons have done, why defend them.

Michele Greppi wrote the TV News article in which she placed Olbermann ahead of O'Reilly as TV news most powerful. It don't seem to make any difference to Greppi that Billo attracts an audience that damn near quadruples the size of Olbermann's. Despite his domination of cable TV news for nearly a decade, Billo did not even make Grippi's Most Powerful list last year. How much ya wanna wager that Michele Greppi is a liberal democrat?

I haven't turned Keith off yet, Maitsy, but I must agree with your analysis of Keith's blatantly overt bias against Hillary Clinton. His (as well as his guests') constant fawning over Obama is a bit disconcerting --- at times, it comes off as a Bizzaro-world Fox News. Whether the nominee is Obama or Clinton, it doesn't matter to me as long as we are able to begin to clear the air of the noxious fumes left behind by the Bush/Cheney regime once they leave office.

...although Edward R. Oralmann is kinda funny. But still!!!

I let KO know he lost half his viewers at the daily obama with their obvious Obama bias.

"One Hundred Pennsylvania Mayors To Endorse Hillary Today:

A Clinton campaign source confirms to me that roughly 100 mayors from all over Pennsylvania will be endorsing her today at noon -- and a bunch of them will hit Obama over the "small town" comments."

Earlier this year, Keith O conflated george bush with Sen Hillary Clinton; and went after her -- like she was george. Those of us who have watched Keith and loved him for so many years, were shocked by his animus; he is not Chris Mathews. The man-crush he and Chris had on obama was truly odd; but the anger and attack on Hillary just started and did not stop. The obama fan club seem happy with this turn of events; but as Hillary haters, they just accepted the diatribes as gospel. Well not me; so after five years of Countdown, off it went. And of the 16 to 20 million who have voted for Hillary (or will -- or have, but don't get to have their votes count) -- how many did watch Keith and now no longer do -- no one can say. But I discovered everyone that I know -- who supports Hillary -- reacted to Keith O in the same way at the same time. But it has to mean something -- Me and mine watched 5 times a week -- every week. no longer So if Keith is doing so good -- where is he getting the new audience?

I'm sure bo still has the "most powerful" bo.

Again please site the source of where O'Reilly "attracts an audience that damn near quadruples the size of Olbermann's." I'll contend that O'Reilly may pull in four times the amount of senior citizens than Keith for his audience, but that's just one demographic.

With all the comments about Glenn Beck being left off the list I'm guessing all 50 of his viewers came over to vent about how he isn't getting his due - I agree that KO is giving Hillary a pretty hard time, but he's not alone in feeling that she's jumped the shark the last few weeks - Obama continues to take the high road while HC sounds more and more like a Republican - Obama, an elitist?, really???? She's disingenuous and it doesn't wear well on her....

I never said I watch "Dancing with the Stars." Nice retort when you can't produce the evidence of your assertion. So, I guess that means to you either (A) Lied, (B) Misspoke or (C) have no clue as to what you're talking about. Considering that you have no clue as to what key demographics are and how that translates to money for TV shows and networks, I'm inclined to go with (C).

Networks and shows could care less if the 18-35 year olds are votings... Those bring in the big bucks to advertisers... Advertisers pay bigger bucks to run their spots during those shows.

More TV shows are canceled because they're unable to reach the key demographic even if they pull in higher ratings than some other shows during the same time period.

To compare the journalistic integrity of an Olberman and of a say Bill Oreilly, it's not close. Also, right wing pundit propaganda has many more corporate ties allowing for fascist tendencies. Hmmmm, Bill Moyers or Sean Hannity? Glenn Beck or Thom Hartman? To call left-leaning MSM "just as bad" as its right wing counterparts is like saying the US is neutral in dealing with Israel and Palestine.

Not at all, I'm just saying that a lot of people here sound just as deranged as the "right wingers" they are complaining about. Lets face it, both sides have their nuts. By the way, why can any poster here (so far) respond to a post that they consider is from a "right winger" without calling them names, its a bit childish.

This victory is somewhat bittersweet since O'Reilly is on the list at all. Hate to think that 2 million misguided folks listen to him every night. I attribute part of his success to the excellent work of the producers at Fox Noise who have developed a bold format that is sensationalistic, very accessable and easily understood; similar to the National Enquirer.

I'm sorry, but I think the Ninja Turtles would out rate bor on "the most powerful".

Now if it was the "most full of shit and angry white man" award, bor would win hands down.

And Olbermann snuck that one in last night during one of his segments. What a blowhard. I used to really like Keith but his hatred of Clinton and his obsession with Obama is just over the top. It has become a parody of his placing Billo into the Worst Person Category night after night. The irony is that Keith has become the Left's counterpart to the Right's bloviating at 8pm. No objectivity just unpaid propaganda for Obama. KO, like everyone else, has the right to choose whom he supports but he needn't alienate the Hillary supporters in the bargain. This is not journalism no matter how thin you want to slice it. When someone continues to shove it down my throat I leave. If that is the extent of his influence than he may very well have made his point.

I agree with TimeforNewLeadership at comment #74. Fox is, sadly, expert at what it does (and no, that doesn't include relaying actual news) and other networks such as MSNBC and CNN are scrambling (sadly) to catch up. They, too, want to be able to use sensationalism; an action-packed, soundbyte-laden, opinion-filled, graphic-intensive jamboree of white noise. It makes me sad that there are so many Americans addicted to Fox News and its utter bullshit that they're so high on this list. (Also, reading through the responses on that website is also bad for the soul.)

Wow... this just keeps repeating itself, but it has escalated to fish story of how Keith HATES Clinton.
I really think that the Hillary supporters are alienating themselves by having really, really thin skin and are unable to take any type of criticism.

Hillary does a better job than RNC to bash Obama. That's what Keith has been going after the Clinton camp about.

I don't really think it's personal, but Hillary supporters believe it's personal and you really can't tell them otherwise.

So you watch dancing with the stars, (it figures). All the 18-35yr olds can watch Keith as much as they want. They typically don't show up at the polls anyway.

I guess you are familiar with Neilson?

And no, if I were a liar or (misspoke), I would likely be a secular-progressive. By the way, (I don't know what I'm talking about) I became a registered voter in 1973.

Danimal: Also ....

are they so backward to not realize the relevance of the Matt Drudge and the Drudgereport????? I'm not even going to comment on the stupid list overweighting of the liberal media and their even more overweighted "power".....

Posted by Danimal | April 14, 2008 6:24 AM

Geez, I didn't know that Drudge was on tv!

Golly abob:
Michele Greppi wrote the TV News article in which she placed Olbermann ahead of O’Reilly as TV news most powerful. It don’t seem to make any difference to Greppi that Billo attracts an audience that damn near quadruples the size of Olbermann’s. Despite his domination of cable TV news for nearly a decade, Billo did not even make Grippi’s Most Powerful list last year. How much ya wanna wager that Michele Greppi is a liberal democrat?

You couldn't possibly be ammobob from Huffpost, could you?
Same old right wing chapter and verse.......

Sadly, with Roger Ailes in the #2 spot, I don't think I care much who got into #6 or #7.

Poehler doesn't belonged lumped with Stewart/Colbert. If I were a pol and wanted exposure to younger voters SNL would not be my destination. They have more impact on voters than KO or falafel boy.
