I used to watch Olbermann faithfully but since he jumped on the Obama bandwagon and every third word that comes out of his mouth is anti-Clinton I've tuned him out and turned
him off. I was fooled into thinking that he would only show his contempt and bias against the right-wing nutjobs and their shenanigans.
Now I see Olbermann and O'Reilly as different sides of the same coin.
There is someone standing in the dust behind Olberman. Who is that? Oh, now I see, it's BillO.
I imagine Colbert and Jon's show, because they are on later at night, probably get fewer watchers. I'm just guessing here. I know I never see their shows at night because I crash early and rise early.
I went over to look at that list and I made the mistake of reading the comments.
WOW.
I'm officially worried about the future of this country.
So many hate-filled right-wingers, with no grasp on facts or reality -
they just parrot what Limbaugh, Hannity, O'Reilly and Beck tell them to say.
I wonder if the stupidity of mainstream America can be

I loved the comments. So many want Drudge on there for a TV News power thing but keep referencing his site. He doesn't have his own show does he? Same for Rush Limbaugh. He hasn't had a TV show for ages. The rest are just angry cranks ignoring that FOX is still Uberpowerful even though its not real news.
I heard something this morning about Chris Matthews wanting to run for Senator in Pennsylvania. It was a clip from Colbert's show. I think Chris said he had always wanted to run for the Senate. I wonder if this is real or if he will use it as an excuse to walk away from his show if he knows he's about to get the boot?
I wish they would boot Chris' show and move Olberman to his time slot.

I'm afraid it's already too late to salvage this country. Facts and reality seem to be quite beyond the grasp of the audience of Limbaugh et. al. My only consolation is imagining the rats gnawing on their bones. I also made the mistake of reading the comments. I couldn't make it past the first 20 without a sense of impending doom.
So last year Olbermann was ranked sixth and O'Reilly was unranked. This year Olbermann is still at the six spot while O'Reilly has climbed to seventh. Doesn't that mean O'Reilly is gaining on Olbermann?
Wow, just read some of the comments on that article. Touched a nerve, the Billobots are livid.
I love it!
Apparently tvweek.com is a very important website to reich-wingers. It's just more proof that reich-wingers have no life except for sitting in front of the tube.
Comments on websites have always been most difficult. I am selective in my reading and responding. After all I do like a little relaxing reality TV in the evening so I can't damage the brain cells that much!!!

Keith isn't against the Clintons personally, but rather against their tactics and the harms (real or imagined) that they seem to be causing the Democrat party.
For example, Keith was one of the first to stand up to the Clintons to chide them of saying that McCain would be a better president than Obama. If the Obama camp pulled the same tactics I'm pretty sure he would go against him.
Olbermann, most powerful = nothing, O’Reilly, more viewers than all networks combined in that time slot = $
That's a joke... show us the ratings that O'Reilly is doing better than "Dancing with the Stars" in that same time slot or are you just talking about basic cable?
O'Reilly is barely (barely) doing better than Keith, but Keith is leading among the key demographics (18-35 year olds).
Well, in that case, MSNBC has been moved away from some basic cable teirs, thus its numbers would be in a smaller amount of homes.

I saw the comments too. I was also amazed.
But what I also noticed was that their comments were typical of their ilk: short on facts and thought. Quite the vocal 29%!
Jackoff is proud that he and his fellow reich-wingers sit in front of the TV every night. Congrats.
Isn't it ironic that people who work in TV are usually the ones who watch the least of it in 98% of the cases.
That's true to a degree. I work for a newspaper, but I rarely read it other than to read the comics. Someone once told me: "You never see a shoe-shine boy shine his own shoes."

That's funny....my father is a retired newspaper writer. He rarely read his paper while he worked there and never does today.
the comments there are the desperate failings of the last $28% who refuse to see how Bush has wrecked this country. The reason they are so shrill is because the have this nagging feeling they have been suckered by Bush. all the things they were told are coming out as lies, all the supposed moral values of their heroes are been proven to be corrupt, and reality is hitting them in the face, in the supermarket, in the gas tank, and in the pocket book. So they shout louder and louder, and repeat the republican mantras, in hopes of drowning out reality.

After with the Clintons have done, why defend them.
Michele Greppi wrote the TV News article in which she placed Olbermann ahead of O'Reilly as TV news most powerful. It don't seem to make any difference to Greppi that Billo attracts an audience that damn near quadruples the size of Olbermann's. Despite his domination of cable TV news for nearly a decade, Billo did not even make Grippi's Most Powerful list last year. How much ya wanna wager that Michele Greppi is a liberal democrat?

I haven't turned Keith off yet, Maitsy, but I must agree with your analysis of Keith's blatantly overt bias against Hillary Clinton. His (as well as his guests') constant fawning over Obama is a bit disconcerting --- at times, it comes off as a Bizzaro-world Fox News. Whether the nominee is Obama or Clinton, it doesn't matter to me as long as we are able to begin to clear the air of the noxious fumes left behind by the Bush/Cheney regime once they leave office.

Earlier this year, Keith O conflated george bush with Sen Hillary Clinton; and went after her -- like she was george. Those of us who have watched Keith and loved him for so many years, were shocked by his animus; he is not Chris Mathews. The man-crush he and Chris had on obama was truly odd; but the anger and attack on Hillary just started and did not stop. The obama fan club seem happy with this turn of events; but as Hillary haters, they just accepted the diatribes as gospel. Well not me; so after five years of Countdown, off it went. And of the 16 to 20 million who have voted for Hillary (or will -- or have, but don't get to have their votes count) -- how many did watch Keith and now no longer do -- no one can say. But I discovered everyone that I know -- who supports Hillary -- reacted to Keith O in the same way at the same time. But it has to mean something -- Me and mine watched 5 times a week -- every week. no longer So if Keith is doing so good -- where is he getting the new audience?

Again please site the source of where O'Reilly "attracts an audience that damn near quadruples the size of Olbermann's." I'll contend that O'Reilly may pull in four times the amount of senior citizens than Keith for his audience, but that's just one demographic.
With all the comments about Glenn Beck being left off the list I'm guessing all 50 of his viewers came over to vent about how he isn't getting his due - I agree that KO is giving Hillary a pretty hard time, but he's not alone in feeling that she's jumped the shark the last few weeks - Obama continues to take the high road while HC sounds more and more like a Republican - Obama, an elitist?, really???? She's disingenuous and it doesn't wear well on her....

The only place bor is gaining is on the bathroom scales.

If the shoe fits... I think it had to do with Hillary's tactics of setting McCain up as a better presidential candidate than her rival of the same party.

sorry but that is funny! Obama's small town comments were so on point I'm surprised Hill didn't say he 'stole' it from Bill back in 92 since Obama is so 'un-original" she'll probably come back with that since her attacks yesterday failed so miserably...

To compare the journalistic integrity of an Olberman and of a say Bill Oreilly, it's not close. Also, right wing pundit propaganda has many more corporate ties allowing for fascist tendencies. Hmmmm, Bill Moyers or Sean Hannity? Glenn Beck or Thom Hartman? To call left-leaning MSM "just as bad" as its right wing counterparts is like saying the US is neutral in dealing with Israel and Palestine.

Not at all, I'm just saying that a lot of people here sound just as deranged as the "right wingers" they are complaining about. Lets face it, both sides have their nuts. By the way, why can any poster here (so far) respond to a post that they consider is from a "right winger" without calling them names, its a bit childish.
This victory is somewhat bittersweet since O'Reilly is on the list at all. Hate to think that 2 million misguided folks listen to him every night. I attribute part of his success to the excellent work of the producers at Fox Noise who have developed a bold format that is sensationalistic, very accessable and easily understood; similar to the National Enquirer.
And Olbermann snuck that one in last night during one of his segments. What a blowhard. I used to really like Keith but his hatred of Clinton and his obsession with Obama is just over the top. It has become a parody of his placing Billo into the Worst Person Category night after night. The irony is that Keith has become the Left's counterpart to the Right's bloviating at 8pm. No objectivity just unpaid propaganda for Obama. KO, like everyone else, has the right to choose whom he supports but he needn't alienate the Hillary supporters in the bargain. This is not journalism no matter how thin you want to slice it. When someone continues to shove it down my throat I leave. If that is the extent of his influence than he may very well have made his point.
I agree with TimeforNewLeadership at comment #74. Fox is, sadly, expert at what it does (and no, that doesn't include relaying actual news) and other networks such as MSNBC and CNN are scrambling (sadly) to catch up. They, too, want to be able to use sensationalism; an action-packed, soundbyte-laden, opinion-filled, graphic-intensive jamboree of white noise. It makes me sad that there are so many Americans addicted to Fox News and its utter bullshit that they're so high on this list. (Also, reading through the responses on that website is also bad for the soul.)

Wow... this just keeps repeating itself, but it has escalated to fish story of how Keith HATES Clinton.
I really think that the Hillary supporters are alienating themselves by having really, really thin skin and are unable to take any type of criticism.
Hillary does a better job than RNC to bash Obama. That's what Keith has been going after the Clinton camp about.
I don't really think it's personal, but Hillary supporters believe it's personal and you really can't tell them otherwise.

And no, if I were a liar or (misspoke), I would likely be a secular-progressive. By the way, (I don't know what I'm talking about) I became a registered voter in 1973.
Alright! Numbers! Serious stuff now.
Okay, the graphic you gave was of the 25-54 demographic and O'Reilly beats Olbermann back in September 2007 450,000 to 225,000 (roughly). Currently, O'Reilly beats Olbermann 2.1 million to 1.0 million (as of April 9) according to the same site. I couldn't find the specific demographic (18-35) I wanted, and that may not be ready for the current one just yet.
I was wrong... I was under the impression that MSNBC had a lot less cable subscribers, but FOX News only has about 2 to 3 million more subscribers, which shouldn't make that much of difference. CNN has more subscribers than both, and FOX News is still beating both in overall viewership.

These types of lists are so subjective that they actually have very little value....sort of like the top 50 movies ever made or the 10 sexiest men alive.
Keith Olbermann has certainly come into his own in the past couple of years as the voice of the moderately liberal in this country. We needed a voice, just as we need Media Matters and C & L. After media cowering from the Bush adminstration for his first 5 years in office, it's nice to have someone saying what so many of us think....and on the air in prime time.
Bill O, on the other hand, is one of an entire chorus of right-wing distortionists, so his power is diluted among the many voices. Overall, the right-wing broadcasters out there have a lot more power than Keith, sorry to say.

Whoa.... bite your tongue... I really like the AFI's top 100 movies and other lists that it puts out. I've found some really good movies that I would have overlooked otherwise because I saw that list.
But yeah, all lists are subjective. That's why people love them (especially during college football season).
I been saying all along Keith Olbermann is the new Bill O'Reilly now it's confirmed...lol I too have stopped watching Keith and most of the shows on MSNBC the anti Clinton rhetoric is just to much .... so much for Fair and Balanced coverage.
I watch it at the gym without audio. All those "dirty over thirty" hot blonde anchors have perty mouths, then they show Cavuto ..
Naming a Olbermann ahead of Billo in cable TV news clout is like claiming Randi Rhodes wields a bigger impact on talk radio than Rush Limbaugh. Even if Michele Grippo hates everything about Billo and Rush, her journalistic pride & integrity should prevent her from making such a blatantly stupid assertion.

First you must create controversy. If no one talks about it, then no one reads it.
If she puts O'Reilly ahead of Olbermann, that's pretty ho-hum.
Besides, in many ways he is more powerful. O'Reilly is not the hero of conservatives like KO is for the far-left secular progressives.

Left-wing and Queer in Oklahoma; but Keith O left me months ago -- so I quit him after 5 years of watching him 5 days a week. If and when he starts on obama, maybe the other half of the democratic party will get why the democrats who support a woman for the democratic party left Keith O for good. When a subject comes up on keith's show or chris' -- I can write the script and know who they will the attack-dog for and who will turn them into apologists. This aint' news and it ain't fun; but maybe I am just so bitter that I am clinging onto --- imaginery deities (recovering baptist here -- so no gods for me) guns ( not in decades, wild turkey hunting only a few summers) --- antipathy (not so much , except for unctuous fops, like andrew sullivan). No -- not bitter here; except what the republicans did the the country with Aids and what george and the dick did in regard to that fucking war..the end
Can't get either Olbermann or O'reilly's shows on basic cable in B.C Canada but am very happy to know that Bill0 finally seems to be biting it, popularity-wise.
It was only a matter of time however before enough viewers in the U.S. woke up - or died from old age.

Um, I don't see people here quoting KO the way Billo's fans do, i.e. "far-left secular progressives". Where have you heard that term before I wonder?
You honestly believe Billo's audience doesn't view him as a hero? Isn't he their culture warrior? Even for their fucking kids? Please, right-wingers circle-jerk when Billo is on TV. And it seems the "far-left secular progressives" here on this site are slamming KO as much as giving him love, so what in the holy hell are you talking about?
They're replacing one gatekeeper with another... and you dumb-asses think you're making progress, because the networks are going where the wind blows?
What a joke.
Where were they seven years ago, when we NEEDED the truth?
Well, I'll tell you: they were sitting on TV, armchair quarterbacking as usual, instead of doing some legwork, and providing us PROOF that the Administration was lying us into an immoral war.
SCREW the "most powerful people in the media", because all they're doing is: whatever their MASTERS tell them to do.

I am not complaining or whining--just observing. It seems to me that so many right-wing whacko letters on this blog (and other blogs) contain misspellings, incomplete sentences and unmatching pronouns! Is it that the writers are so angry and impatient that they cannot contain themselves, and just punch "submit" before they have previewed or spell checked? Or did they fail English 101 repeatedly--and just give up??
This would all be funny if it wasn't so pathetic. You all on this site rant and rave and foam at the mouth with glee because MSNBC now has its own nasty mouth in Keith Olbermann. How is he any better than the Hannitys or O'Reillys? Because he agrees with you? How does that make you any better than them?
We sit and belittle and let talking heads turn us into zombie, brain dead zealots, lib and neocon alike. Some of you are complaining because K.Olb is bashing Clinton, and 'obsessed' with Obama. Aaaah, so now that he disagrees with you, you won't watch? How is that any better than folks who have tantrums when they disagree with K.Olb or Rush?
Shallow, petty, and selfish - its what they are, because its what we've become. We call the "other" side moron, pathetic, and sneer, feeling superior. We throw petty insults at one another, and choose up sides; meanwhile corporate and government types laugh and get away with murder and mayhem because we're right-fighting one another, rather than keeping them available.
Pathetic - get over yourselves! We'd better realize the "other" -the other lib, the other neo-con, the other believer, the other non-believer - isn't beneath you, isn't less than you, and may just have an opinion, a need, an idea that you should hear. Constantly looking for the worst in others brings out the worst in us. Get over yourselves - or the powers that be will keep putting one over on us.

Stewart/Colbert (and Poehler!) below Olbermann and O'Reilly? That don't seem right.
Media addicted America.
See you later. Things to do.
Wow, just read some of the comments on that article. Touched a nerve, the Billobots are livid.
I love it!
I would have felt much better about it if Ailes and Orally hadn't made the list at all.
I wonder if the stupidity of mainstream America can be
reversed before this country (and planet) to be beyond hope.
Ouch Bill'O, that's got to hurt! It's about frigging time. Who are the jackasses that watch him anyway...nevermind.
ChrisM70 @ 9:
I'm afraid it's already too late to salvage this country. Facts and reality seem to be quite beyond the grasp of the audience of Limbaugh et. al. My only consolation is imagining the rats gnawing on their bones. I also made the mistake of reading the comments. I couldn't make it past the first 20 without a sense of impending doom.

So last year Olbermann was ranked sixth and O'Reilly was unranked. This year Olbermann is still at the six spot while O'Reilly has climbed to seventh. Doesn't that mean O'Reilly is gaining on Olbermann?
Fox's Roger Ailes was ranked #1 last year. Now he's #2 behind NBC!
Wow, check out the comments below the list. Its right-wing troll mania!

Jackoff @ 28:
ROFL!!!!!!! My egg timer prediction never fails....
Jack @ 28:

O'Reilly is barely (barely) doing better than Keith, but Keith is leading among the key demographics (18-35 year olds).
Well, in that case, MSNBC has been moved away from some basic cable teirs, thus its numbers would be in a smaller amount of homes.

...although Edward R. Oralmann is kinda funny. But still!!!
I let KO know he lost half his viewers at the daily obama with their obvious Obama bias.
"One Hundred Pennsylvania Mayors To Endorse Hillary Today:
A Clinton campaign source confirms to me that roughly 100 mayors from all over Pennsylvania will be endorsing her today at noon -- and a bunch of them will hit Obama over the "small town" comments."
I'm sure bo still has the "most powerful" bo.
abob @ 46:
She's disingenuous and it doesn't wear well on her....

sorry but that is funny! Obama's small town comments were so on point I'm surprised Hill didn't say he 'stole' it from Bill back in 92 since Obama is so 'un-original" she'll probably come back with that since her attacks yesterday failed so miserably...
Checking the news to read about these 100 mayors>>>>>>>
It's all well and good that KO is #6 and I'm a huge fan, but that's where he was last year. BO wasn't even ranked last year and now he's #7. WHO'S made the progress in rankings?

I never said I watch "Dancing with the Stars." Nice retort when you can't produce the evidence of your assertion. So, I guess that means to you either (A) Lied, (B) Misspoke or (C) have no clue as to what you're talking about. Considering that you have no clue as to what key demographics are and how that translates to money for TV shows and networks, I'm inclined to go with (C).
Networks and shows could care less if the 18-35 year olds are votings... Those bring in the big bucks to advertisers... Advertisers pay bigger bucks to run their spots during those shows.

I'm sorry, but I think the Ninja Turtles would out rate bor on "the most powerful".
Now if it was the "most full of shit and angry white man" award, bor would win hands down.
Pat J @ 76:
Wow... this just keeps repeating itself, but it has escalated to fish story of how Keith HATES Clinton.

I been saying all along Keith Olbermann is the new Bill O'Reilly now it's confirmed...lol I too have stopped watching Keith and most of the shows on MSNBC the anti Clinton rhetoric is just to much .... so much for Fair and Balanced coverage.
TimeforNewLeadership @ 75:
I watch it at the gym without audio. All those "dirty over thirty" hot blonde anchors have perty mouths, then they show Cavuto ..
Naming a Olbermann ahead of Billo in cable TV news clout is like claiming Randi Rhodes wields a bigger impact on talk radio than Rush Limbaugh. Even if Michele Grippo hates everything about Billo and Rush, her journalistic pride & integrity should prevent her from making such a blatantly stupid assertion.
abob @ 90:
You know she named Roger Ailes as (appropriately enough) no. 2, right? Roger Ailes of Fox "News"?
How many of O'Really's ratings come from people who only watch for the comedic content?
But who by far has the higher ratings. O'dicky
I stopped listening to Olberman when he starting making fun of the mentally ill.
mackiddo5 @ 92:
Or are stoned?
Rusty Shackleford @ 91:
Why not? That's what he's full of.
abob @ 90:
abob-
First you must create controversy.

It was only a matter of time however before enough viewers in the U.S. woke up - or died from old age.
