Go Home

I spend about an hour or two every night working on those little clips for the Music Club. John finally made it worth my while. He brought me along to a private screening of the best film I've seen all year, War, Inc," an incredibly original way of looking at an issue raised both my George Washington and Dwight Eisenhower: the dangers of great wealth and militarism ganging up on democracy. Monday afternoon John and I want to introduce you to John Cusack, who co-wrote, co-produced and co-starred in this thought-provoking (and hilarious) film. Just show up right here at 3pm (PT, 6 back on the East Coast) and help John Amato and I ask John Cusack some questions about his latest project.

looking forward to seeing it. john cusack, produced a real thinking film. how does that hold with the innane bs put out by sylvester, willis, norris and arnie. make a film of substance as opposed to the potboilers you normally put out. but hell, they pay the bills and that's what's it all about.

Wonderful news! And let's all be sure to Digg this post and help get out the word - including emails to our respective circles to not miss John here on Monday!!!!!

what does cusack have to do with either paul or lee?

and lee was just a figure head used by paul for his scam

im just wondering if hillary's name will come up during the trial

and ive had a huge man crush on cusack since "the sure thing"

there is no cooler everyman in cinema

Have you seen 'Apocalypse Now' with all the original footage (hour or so) reinstated including the French and R&R sections ?
changes the movie radically, actually makes sense.
It was on TCM or AMC year or so ago complete, amazing.

'Whoops Apocalypse' along with 'Private Schultz' two of the greatest TV comedy dramas ever made.

Mr. Pulman's scenario pulls together a strange collection of characters, all of them made workable through the simple device of making Private Schulz just about the only sane one in the lot. Looking at his Nazi superiors, he explains: ''I'm a crook, but so are they. The only difference between them and us is that they are homicidal maniacs. When the lunatics take over the asylum, it's them or us.''

‘Private Schultz’ is supposedly coming out on DVD this summer :)
'Whoops Apocalypse' alas has never been repeated on TV or made it out on DVD, just a single VHS release in the UK (80s).

"There's nothing funny about WAR..." would approximate:
"There's nothing funny about George Bush."

You all know what Dave L. does with great presidential speeches. W is hilarious when he's not being so dangerous.

Cusack's appearance on Bill Maher blew me away. I had no idea he was so politically astute... and so well spoken. I would venture a future vision: I will probably LOVE this movie. It will be TOTALLY PANNED by right wing radio because it will cut too close to the truth.

"...and help John Amato and I ask John Cusack some questions about his latest project."

Hmm... Sorry to reduce the conversation to such pedantry, but this is worth mentioning. Try:

"...and help John Amato and me ask John Cusack some questions about his latest project."

'I' = subject, 'me' = object.
To clarify, try taking the other person out of the sentence:

"...and help... ...I ask John Cusack some questions about his latest project."
Ask yourself what sounds right.
Goodnight and Good luck!

No I haven't and I have no desire to. Once was enough to sink in the insanity of war.

Thats what most war films lack these days. You don't walk out stunned at the viciousness and inhumanity of it.

You damn grammer Nazi, Donald.

I love John Cusack and can't wait too see this flick.

I've worked on this in a minor way, so I'll vouch for the very funny and telling nature of the movie. Watch for the "cane toad" in the dialogue at the beginning, and the line, "Does my ass make you puke?" later on.

Femmetac's picture

Fantastic! As a former military brat who knows how frighteningly accurate it is, I can't wait for this movie. I think it says a lot that being in a military family I've become both anti-corporate and anti-war--and these days they're one in the same.

I would have loved to have seen Grace is Gone; maybe I can when it goes to video.

If only people could think like John Cusack does...we might just have a chance at some real peace..but do you think Bush wants peace?? It doesn't seem so..He just wants us to turn a blind eye to what is really going on and this movie has real meaning behind it and i am only hoping that this film goes world wide so people can see the crap that really is going on..It is hidden way to much.

i will definitely be seeing it on the 25th. i will let you know what i thought of it
