"I can!"
:^)
Oh look...it's another war mongering imperialist.
Now THAT was funny! :D
Liberal AND Proud @ 2:
I don't think she's a war-monger. I think she's an opportunist and the opportunist thing to do at the time was vote for war.
Wow. If only she could fix her sagging poll numbers as quickly!
Yea, but the better bit was John Edwards "EdWORDS" -- jetskis! -- and Obama, finally, appearing, and putting Distractions on notice.
Put those clips up, please!
Wasn't this a setup? The punchline was at the end of this show
The "edWORDs" was even better - it's good to see John Edwards is still out there!
His segment was VERY funny.
Jet Skis for everyone! :)
I thought her appearance was totally leaden. John Edwards stole the show.
I guess Obama and Edwards didn't show. That is ashame. Maybe Jon Stewart could invite Hillary and Barrack on and hold as close to a real issues debate as we are likely to get. The MCM clowns have had their many chances, and have blown them completely.
sigh.......if only
CafeenMan @ 4:
Oops. My bad. You were talking about Colbert, right? :)
CafeenMan @ 4:
I'm talking about her latest statements saying that she wants the U.S. military to be the mercenary force for the WORLD.
I have no interest in being the "muscle" for capitalists.
Tira @ 6:
I agree, Edwards and Obama's bits were much funnier, especially Edward's "The EdWORDS".
Liberal AND Proud @ 12:
I agree. My first choice for president, of course, is Me (All Hail President CafeenMan).
My second choice is Gore (Fiengold for VP).
Somewhere down the list after that is Mr. Obama
Hillary is somewhere way down the list after that.
If a Republican were the last person alive on the planet then I'd consider putting him on the list at the bottom.
CafeenMan @ 4:
Which makes her an opportunist war-monger.
Hey - Danny Federici died yesterday from melanoma. Anybody here going to mention it??
http://www.brucespringsteen.net
I though she did a great job coming on the show even though i can't believe a word she says on the trail and think that she wouldn't make a great president its good to see that at least she is willing to put herself "out there" with Colbert
jersey jay @ 16:
A guy I work with is a total Springsteen nut. He has every CD and a ton of bootleg DVDs. He watches them every moment he gets at work. He bought tickets to either three or four consecutive concerts here in Florida and got time off to go.
We're seriously considering sending him a wreath. That's not supposed to be a joke.
Hey did anyone see Obama give Clinton the finger.....is that news worthy
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/04/obamaflipsoffcl.html
I still think she is an opportunist and hope she doens't win ... but is Obama the man for america who know.
Kefa @ 18:
Nope. But it's a great example of how the media wants conflict, and will make it up or stretch it just to get it.
The real story here is how Colbert followed the Clinton segment with a scathing critique of the previous night's disastrous debate with... "For moderator, ABC courageously chose George Stephanopoulos who OWES his career to the fact that he was Bill Clinton's communications director, so he was objective in the sense that everyone knew his bias." And then THAT segment was followed with a great interview with Congressman Patrick Murphy, the only member of Congress to have served in Iraq and an outspoken OBAMA SUPPORTER. It could not have been very comfortable backstage for the Clinton campaign.
Kefa @ 18:
Really lame. Is how a man scratches his face an issue voters should care about now?
I wonder what it's like to live in a country where issues that affect us are the issues that are discussed.
It's all Pre-Packaged. This just didn't happen spontaneously.
Sanitized for consumption.
L.A. Confidential @ 23:
Actually it's always been sanitized for consumption. It's just a drag to suddenly wake up so late in life and see it for what it really is.
Really LA Confidential! Cable comedy shows are.... are.... written!
You know, I like you L.A., I really do, but you seriously need to get out more man. Unplug for awhile, head up into the woods and camp in a tent for awhile with some friends, get drunk, do whatever, but seriously, you need to unplug man.
She is an Israeli pandering warmongeror!! Has everyone already forgotten her vote for the Kyle Lieberman admendment? Thanks to that all we need is one false flag attack pretending to be Iranian and we're at war forever. Also listen to her answer about Iran attacking Israel - automatic war is what she's promising, please don't let her in the White House!!
glennser
Even choreographed, it still plays bogus. I'll take real experience every time. She would probably do better with a pony or some other princess moment.
Am I the only one who came away thinking that Colbert set Hillary up? I mean he had her come out there and do her lame "I can fix anything" skit and she fixed the video screen. At the end of the show, Obama appears on the screen. Did he have Hillary fix the screen so Obama could appear and put "distractions" (And we all know who is running the distractions campaign) on notice?
I'm bothered that Hillary and Edwards was there together while Obama wasn't. I wonder if Edwards is going to pull the trigger before the NC vote, or will he stand on the sidelines knowing that Hillary has lost and he will damage his legacy by linking to her campaign after it became clear that she was going to lose because of her old school tactics?
I hope the GOP wins the Prez election and gets their Congressional majorities back.
Jake S. @ 25:
Actually I prefer to do things that are more productive and beneficial then getting drunk thank you.
I beseech all working people, especially those making $35,000 to $150,000 to do their patriotic duty and vote Republican.
Wear your flag pins with pride. USA! USA! USA!
If Edwards prefers Hillary to Obama, I really think he shouldn't endorse her until she actually has a real path to winning. If she narrowly wins in PA (which is a win for Obama), then Obama will win NC by double digits and Indiana by at least 5. I really like Edwards, and I think it will be a shame if he was to put his name on the Clinton campaign and then made to look like a fool if Hillary still gets blown out in NC and the race comes to a end shortly after May 6th. He'll never be taken as a serious candidate again.
We must have more tax cuts for business in these troubled economic times! We need more weapons to defend freedom and to spread democracy!
USA! USA! USA!
jersey jay @ 16:
Maybe C & L will consider putting up something from the E Street Band for tonights LNMC. Just a suggestion.
L.A. Confidential @ 22:
Dude, it's a comedy show with comedy writers. She didn't just happen to be in the building when the rear projector went out and she didn't just happen to know how to fix it. This was all a skit written by the comedy writers.
So...where's the Obama footage?
Why just this clip? Worst of the three.
EdWords was far, far better.
Obama's portion was just ok.
Mister Anderson @ 32:
Mrs Edwards was interviewed recently and she did say that she liked Hillary's health plan better than Obama's. Maybe she will endorse Hillary and he'll endorse Obama.
pissed off patricia @ 35:
And it had such a distinct liberal bias. Nothing ever goes wrong on conservative programs. They run like clockwork. A skit like this could never have been done, everyone knows that conservatives are perfectionists who plan ahead and have contingencies for any rare problem.
pissed off patricia @ 35:
I know that. I'm a Child of Show Business. Was anyway until I tired of it.
pissed off patricia @ 35:
Nooooooo!!! Colbert's a real newsman! Like Papa Bear O'Rielly! This was TOTALLY spontaneous!!! ;)
We've made a critical error by demonizing the Hillary supporters and calling their candidate a "witch", a "bitch", a "liar", and worse. We are insinuating that these people who voted their conscience have embraced corruption, deception, and evil itself. Now we expect these same people who we've personally attacked to smile and hop along the Obama bandwagon. Fat chance - I salute you President McCain! The GOP hasn't even started with their bag of tricks on Obama. They wanted to stop Hillary first since they felt she was more of a threat. In a wierd way this is going to be sweet to see the Obamaniacs learn a lesson the hard way. Of course they won't take any responsiblity and will blame their own loss on the wicked witch Hillary and "Slick Willie". What fools.
See CLINTON, EDWARDS and OBAMA on the Colbert Report
Comeon C&L, link up the Edwards and Obama clips too. It was disappointing to see CNN giving service only to Clinton's appearence on Colbert and then I come here and see it too? Ouch.
Liberal AND Proud @ 33:
Democracy is on the march! It just looks like fascism...yeah I totally stole that from POAC.
But I donate to them, and buy their awesome swag....so...there!
L.A. Confidential @ 40:
In fact this whole planet is a sick comedy skit. Just pay attention so a hand grenade doesn't pop out of the bubble gum machine into your hand.
Travis @ 36:
In his size 12 shoes?
Sheila @ 42:
are you another pretend liberal who comes here to poison the well?
it's pretty damn early to scream that we're defeated.
you should be able to gauge by the people reacting to charlie and stephie that people are tired of being fed lies.
suck it up! people are suffering and dying and all you can do is whine.
Some of us are preparing to vote. We are also preparing to create a permanent repug minority.
Think of something constructive you might add, instead of your divisive prattle.

50 CoIntelPro against “WHINING”
Pointing out the divisive nature of the primary is no more divisive and no more accurate than denouncing those who denounce war as being against the troops.
click on my name for the whole show it's funny.
ysbaddaden @ 52:
Divisiveness makes me so bitter.
ysbaddaden @ 52:
I'm divided or that remark.
Dumb. Reminds me of the dumb diner ad.
Obama probably read the script and opted out. Very wise of him.
One thing I noticed. and it's from the same network that posted that republican infotainment special that blamed 9/11 on W. J. Clinton. The banner for the show was "the DEMOCRATS debate", which looked so rovian. Also, "We the ..." was turned on it's side and did not even includ the third word, "People".
That appears to be absolutely intentional. Like they were subliminally saying, "Fuck you, American people! This is not about you anyway!"
Colbert is very funny, but this bit is becoming tired.
Kefa @ 18:
nah he was just showing hes as smart as bush and his middle finger!
THE WHOLE SHOW with Hillary, then Edwards, then Barack.
L.A. Confidential @ 30:
Posting comments on a blog? You'd think you could think yet, even more productive.
The comments make me sad. It would seem that so many supposed liberals can't stop frothing at the mouth long enough to enjoy something of a break and some silly humour. I found all three sketches--Clinton, Edwards, and Obama--to be somewhat weak but not without their moments, and I am okay with that because they aren't professional comedians. These vitriolic, angry ninnies ought to be attacking the comedy that was the shameful Democratic debate instead of carrying a big, fat chip on their shoulders into this thread.

Headline should be, "Colbert Takes First Steps in Reuniting Democratic Party".
Others above are right: Edwards stole the show. So why did you only post Hellary?

It was an excellent show. I was hoping all three would share the same stage.

Jeez Louise. Be patient. They're coming. We don't put up a bunch of posts all at the same time.

well, it's better to be pissed off than to be pissed on....

you can't post link to the whole show, can you, Nicole?
CafeenMan @ 17:
Meat @ 60:
Hum, you obviously missed the reaction that the ABC debate received in this forum.
I think a lot of people are frustrated because we have witnessed the manipulation and BS from the MSM and political process. That in this campaign, it seems, the powers that be have given up on pretending and they have obviously picked 2 cocks for the fight they are going to be shoveling down our throats: McCain and Hillary.
Also it gets very tiresome when a candidate has to deal with non-isses propped as such against him: Rev Wright, the Bitter comments, et al.
Yet Clinton gets to make massive gaffes, the 3AM nonsense, making shit up about snipers, and running a scorched earth primary campaign. And she gets to brush every issue with a joke. Have an uncomfortable question to answer regarding your family's gathering of massive amounts of funding from foreign interests? Just laugh about it and brush it off.
You may find this sort of contrived, faux, and humorless jokes in vain attempts at showing "humanity" amusing. Other people, myself included, find it an exercise in depravation.
CoIntelPro against DIVISIVE DEMS. @ 70:
It's broken up into parts. Here is the link to Colbert's Comedy Central site with all the videos.
THIS was my comment to #17 re Springsteen:
Tonight’s show at the BankAtlantic Center was postponed as was at least another venue here in FL.
geneHUSSEIN214 @ 34:
I sent Jersey Jay's comment to Amato. I'm sure he and Howie will do something. Maybe not today, but soon.
Nicole Belle @ 75:
This is Amerka Nicole! We don't have time to be patient! Convenience or death! ;)
Good for her. by the way talking about some of the comments. Henry Waxman an awesome representative voted for the authorization too. I wasn't for it but she wasn't the only one. She didn't start the war!!
Anyone else find it disheartening that the headlines in the news is trying to rev up the same issues as the ABC debate? And the more Hillary pushes the whole "Obama whining about the debate" the more unpleasant she comes across? Really I wish this was over, I'm getting sick and tired mudslinging from both sides.
Nicole Belle @ 80:
Thanks, Nicole.
I already had the link and I went to the site and saw the whole show.
I tried to post the link here and all my posts went to the bit bucket.
why are my posts disappearing, Nicole? I can't even respond to you if you have a link.

I though the bit was cute... humorous. But I think she may be an imperialistic opportunist. How about the thing she said regarding Americans troops being sent into the Middle East if any of the countries there were threatened by Iran? I think that is imperialistic opportunism.
Any of you 'liberals' going to acknowledge that Obama said the same damn thing Clinton did in regards to Iran...
no...
Okay.
The Dude @ 79:
True, there was the debate in the thread regarding ABC's shameful presentation. I suppose I am suggesting that we shouldn't allow for our attention spans to be so short that we quickly forget about the ABC debate in favour of the latest 'thing': who was on The Colbert Report and how they came across. And I especially don't like every other thread being used as an excuse for people to attempt to rip Hillary Clinton to shreds.
I think perspective will show that Hillary Clinton has run a fairly tight campaign, and a very competent campaign. She has been aggressively touring the country, like Barack Obama, tirelessly repeating her message and attempting to sway voters. I'm not at all suggesting that Clinton hasn't made tactical errors, because she has, and one or two of those blunders were awful and even inexcusable. (I will address those in a moment.) Nonetheless, overall, her campaign has been very polished and Clinton has, I believe, demonstrated considerable poise. She simply doesn't have the patience or charisma that Barack Obama does, and this she appears comparatively awful in the eyes of some. This is a bit of an unfair contrast, though, because most politicians would seem wooden when standing next to Barack Obama, and the measure of whether or not someone deserves to be President is not how believable they are when they repeat pablum and catchphrases. Certainly, charisma is a great asset, but it's certainly far from the top of the list of necessary job qualifications.
That being said, yes, I am disappointed that Hillary Clinton has allowed herself to become something of an opportunist in her desperation to beat Barack Obama. Most Obama supporters overlook Obama's snide remarks, or opportunistic attacks (he has also released his share of press statements capitalizing on Clinton's "gaffs"), or divisive statements (such as him stating that he does not know whether or not he could convince his supporters to vote for Clinton should she win, when asked if he will support Clinton should she receive the nomination). So, yes, much of what Clinton has done wrong has been blown out of proportion, as is the case with Barack Obama. You claim that Obama has been the victim of a mainstream media witch-hunt, and I don't at all disagree. The last debate illustrated how eager the hosts were to frame questions in such a way as to make Obama look like a fool unfit to be President. What you don't seem to consider is that Hillary Clinton hasn't been left off the hook in the least. The Ferrero nonsense dominated airwaves for quite a while, and her advertisement about the phone ringing at 3:00 AM was made an issue by the media as well. These sorts of topics were presented to her at the debate as well, and they detracted from the real issues in the same way that the silly questions for Barack Obama detracted from the real issues. Heck, do you not remember how Bill Clinton's comments were taken out of context time and again as to make him appear cynical and racist?
You can be condescending about the "faux humour" and wax indignant and apalled, but it illustrates my point that there are those who selectively choose to take certain matters more seriously than others. Clinton made it a point to poke fun of her own television ad, and you demonize her as though she has been exempted from criticism. In reality, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert have been almost merciless in their mocking of Hillary Clinton, often to the point of seeming one-sided (like many of those who have replied to this thread, for instance). Heck, right after Clinton left the stage, she was immediately ridiculed thanks to Colbert himself! But that's not good enough for some, who think that Clinton ought to be thrown in the Gulag.
The mainstream media hasn't been easy on Hillary Clinton, in short. The only person receiving cozy treatment is John McCain, frankly, and I doubt even you'd disagree that he's being treated as some sort of king. Pundits laugh, offer him donuts, refer to him constantly as a "war hero," ignore his almost entirely absent plans for the country, and go as far as to act as apologists and make excuses on his behalf when he repeatedly claims that Iran is training al-Qaeda troops or confuses the Shiites and Sunnis. That's like going to war with Ireland but confusing Catholics and Protestants! The media has slandered Clinton, and with their work done there they are targeting Barack Obama. When do you think they'll get around to criticizing McCain and asking of him tough questions? Or do you think that that'll occur at all?
You have to understand that for quite a long time, I defended Clinton over Obama, who was more bluster than substance. I eventually became too disappointed in Hillary Clinton, though, and now hold her accountable for her opportunistic attacks. While there are some who will say, 'She has always been an opportunist!' they forget the 1990s when Hillary Clinton was the target of some of the most disgusting comments and attacks by Republicans I have ever seen. And she rose above it with great dignity, impressing Democrats everywhere. Nonetheless, she became associated with folks like Mark Penn (who was fired too late, frankly), who argued that her personality wasn't important and encouraged Clinton to strike like a snake and to focus on her accomplishments and experience. She has used too many of Obama's supposed 'blunders' to attack him, and for that I cannot reward her. That being said, please understand how much it burns me that someone as intelligent, capable, and yes, progressive as Hillary Clinton is doing what she is doing. It is one thing for the Karl Roves of the world to use slippery tactics, because you know they aren't above it, but Clinton knows better.
So, no, Hillary Clinton isn't the Devil, though I can understand why many dislike her (though I'll never understand the vehement hatred some feel, as that really makes me question those doing the hating more than anything else). Regardless, the Democratic Party needs to hang together if the U.S. is going to be saved at all. Does that seem hyperbolic? Consider your economy which happens to be teetering on a brink it won't be able to recover from. Consider that all nations rise and fall. Consider your military, stretched so thin that the U.S. is more strategically vulnerable than before the attacks on 11.09.2001. Clinton's campaign could have been better, and her behaviour could have been better, but she isn't as awful as some would have you believe. Both her and Obama are being assassinated by the press and the rest of us need to use our brains and rally behind whomever becomes the Presidential nominee.
CafeenMan @ 4:
*Bingo*
glennser @ 28:
Excellent observation. We have far too many scenarios that can be easily triggered by false-flag attacks. This one would be begging for a trumped up rationale for war. I hope the closest Hillary gets to the Whitehouse is to visit Pres. Obama.
Hillary Clinton is acting very whorish these days. It is quite sad that she is resorting to such low-life tactics. I would never vote for Hillary Clinton after the way she has conducted the most low-life campaign of all-time.
Whatver redeeming qualities Mrs. Clinton has left, it is not that many. Most of her votes are anti-life from the war on Iraq to the continual funding of it. She is also a liar on top of that with no shame. In short, the Clinton campaign is despicable and her surrogates do her talking for her as Clinton claims plausibile deniability.
This Democrat sees no diifference between Mrs. Clinton in comparison to John McCain, on war issues and the continuation of the Bush administration's foreign policy in Iraq. Hillary Clinton despite her lies will not have the troops from Iraq within the end of her first term. Mrs. Clinton needs to start telling the truth on her foreign policy views which have been in lockstep with the Bush administration every step of the way on every major policy choice that has been made in the international realm.
I thought it was great! Go Hillary!!
BAC
LanceThruster @ 95:
is this the same Kyl-Lieberman amendment that Obama didn't show up to vote for or against?
glennser @ 28:
Nobody will ever get elected President unless they pander to Israel. It sucks, I hate it too, it's the exact opposite of what to do if you want a more peaceful world, but that's just the way it is. Some of them will suck Israeli dong more enthusiastically than others, but they will all do it.
Hillary (R-Elitist) will do it because it gives her more power, '4 more years' McCain will do it because he truly believes the Zionists are innocent little angels being persecuted by those evil dirty savage ay-rabs, Obama will do it because he has to.
And in case you hadn't noticed, we're ALREADY at war forever.
CafeenMan @ 23:
No the REAL question is:
IS A MAN WHO SCRATCHES HIS FACE REALLY CAPABLE OF BEING THE LEADER OF THE FREE WORLD???!?!?!/1
