My prayer will be that Dobson and all his talebangical, authoritarian, zombie-followers, will disappear from our fair land.

Vote the Rethuglicans out and replace them with "ready from day one" dems who solemly swear to get the troops out immediately...er...a platoon at a time.......er......we'll have to leave SOME troops there....er......ok.....about 60.000 might do.....er......we'll have to see what the "ground conditions" are like.......er......Iran!! Damn Iran!!

Sitting back and listening to both these parties is equal to taking your head and banging it repeatedly on a rock. Not only are they not listening to the population, they are not even in the same chapter of the book. But don't worry. Vote 'em in. Sniper fire at any cost is so much better than McCain wanting 100 years of war with everyone. That won't come out of the Dem candidate's mouths until AFTER the primaries are over. Whatever happened to the odd politician that was honest and straight forward?

I have regained a bit of faith in the world with Georgetown's decision that rehiring Feith, a man who lied and manipulated intelligence to justify attacking Iraq and who has had legitimate questions about his loyalty to both the United States and the rule of law raised, would not be in the best interests of the school. I hope no one buys his stupid book.

In the article on the Jesus biography, I enjoyed this passage:

Catholic League President Bill Donohue called Verhoeven's claim about Mary "laughable."

"Here we go again with idle speculation grounded in absolutely nothing," Donohue told FOXNews.com. "He has no empirical evidence to support his claim, which is why they say 'may have.'"

It is laughable that anyone associated with religion would dismiss anything based on a lack of empirical evidence...

Did anyone else catch the report on CNN this morning about the generals and the media? The story that the NYT broke last week or the week before. They had one of the generals on and a pentagon spokesperson. At the end of that part of the program, it was announced that the pentagon announced Friday night that they were suspending the program while they did an internal investigation.

Even when they retire, military men and women NEVER leave the military, so this is no surprise at all. Show me a retired military "analyst" on television that is not filthy rich (um, how?) and I'll show you Condi Rice's collection of boyfriends.

My prayer will be done in the privacy of my home according to Scripture, which apparently the Dobsons and their FOTF friends are not as familiar with as they claim.
I'll be praying that the wall Jefferson tried to establish between the church and state will be restored. And for the hypocrites to get swift judgement.

Hehehehe!! Yeah, that's my Paul Verhoeven. Typical. That's what you might call Dutch realism. Seeing Jesus for what he was. A product of adultery.

Where's my coat?

Regarding Happy Valley News hour;

HAHAHAHAHA, the temerity and insolence of mother nature...hahahahahah some kind of poetic justice or come uppance at work here.... Someone ought to call big Al Gonzales...
I hear he needs a gig.... He ain't, and never was worth a fuck as a lawyer... Maybe he could do better at clearing brush... He apparently has always been pretty good at sucking up to Bush's e.v.e.r.y. need and whim... Kinda like a booty-call whore on retainer.. This cleaning up the vanity ranch might be just the thing for his punk ass.....................JD

This Sean Bell thing is absurd, now every time a judge or jury makes a judgment that does not go down well politically then the politicians are going to step in??

This does not go down well as justice. Throughout history, politicians have always had to "step in" in when the courts failed to protect citizens.

The National Day of Prayer was delivered up to the evangelicals in 1972 (36-yrs-ago) and codified by Ronald Reagan in 1988 (20 yrs ago) to appease his evangelical base. First Thursday in May celebrations have been pissing off non-evangelicals for years. A humanistic alternative is called The National Day of Reason, which of course gets no play at all these days inside the beltway or in the major media outlets. Secondly, Paul Verhoven's upcoming film on Jesus is absolutely no Mel Gibson-style Passion. Dutch filmmaker Verhoven's film project grows out of his long involvement with the Jesus Seminar, a very non-evangelical humanistic attempt at demythologizing the legends of Christianity. Blogophiles, please get your conspiracies straight!

Verhoeven is crazy. Certifiable.

JESUS DIDN"T EXIST.

Rape victim, seed of Immaculate Conception, whatever.

The Romans, who Kept records of every single thing that happened in their domain, somehow ignored the greatest rebellion in the history of their empire, which eventually brought the pagan empire to its knees.

Yeah.

Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy are awaiting recognition.

Will you be the first?

I don't think anuone is alleging any 'conspiracy' in either case. That the Religious Right has always determinedly attempted to portray fundamentalism as the only 'true' Christianity isn't news, but that doesn't mean other denominations and faiths have to accept being ignored. And I don't think anybody said the Verhoven film was like Gibson's. The similarity, if there is one, lies in that it will challenge conventional wisdom. I've been aware of the Jesus Seminars since their inception and have two of Robert Funk's books on the subject.
