Sunday Morning Bobblehead Thread
By Nicole Belle Saturday May 03, 2008 7:00am
My buddy Max from Max and the Marginalized has sent me a new video for their song "Teflon John", which seems apropos as the Sunday bobbleheads try to find electoral significance of Clinton's filly losing the Derby and whether Obama is still BFF with Rev. Wright or still a secret Muslim, yet none of them will make mention of McCain's latest ad labeling him "President McCain" despite being out of step with the vast majority of Americans on Iraq, health care, and the economy, nor the fact that he is essentially promising with his policies a third Bush term, an odd choice considering that Bush has the highest disapproval rate of any president in history.ABC's "This Week" - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y.
CBS' "Face the Nation" - Sen. Evan Bayh, D-Ind.; Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C.; Richmond Mayor and former Virginia Gov. L. Douglas Wilder.
NBC's "Meet the Press" - Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill.
CNN's "Late Edition" - Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.; Govs. Mike Easley, D-N.C., and Bill Richardson, D-N.M; Robert Reich, former labor secretary; Gene Sperling, adviser for the Clinton campaign; Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y.
"Fox News Sunday" - Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean; Joe Andrew, former DNC chairman; Clinton campaign chairman Terry McAuliffe; Carly Fiorina, adviser to John McCain's campaign.
"The Chris Matthews Show" Panel: Dan Rather, Andrea Morehead, Kim Genardo, Michael Duffy. Topics: Will the Democratic race be over if Hillary doesn't win IN or NC? Will Republicans use Jeremiah Wright against Obama if he's the nominee? Meter Questions:If Hillary doesn't win either NC or IN, will she drop out? YES: 5 NO: 7; Has Obama's rebuke of Wright enough to stop the GOP from using Wright this fall? YES: 0 No: 12
And while it's not on Sunday morning, I did want to call attention to a story being featured on 60 Minutes later tonight on Pat Tillman, featuring his mother, Mary, and her crusade for the truth behind her son's death. And for those C-Spanaholics like me, Book TV will have a discussion at 4:59 pm (EDT) about Lincoln Chafee's new book, entitled Against the Tide: How a Compliant Congress Empowered a Reckless President, which I will definitely be watching.
What's catching your eye this morning?

morning folks , mccains finnished , and now on to press the meat !
oh wait wasnt it only a few months ago mccain was finnished, had no money and was applauded for being out of the race? maby hes not finnished after all !
Hensley (Cindy McCain) received a Bachelor of Arts in education and a Master of Arts in special education, now if only she had some creds in Elder-Care.
And I'd like to know why McCain is not being questioned about using the Sugar Momma Private Jet and also why the Dems are not pressing harder on him about his associations with Hagee and Falwel, while the press continues to fill space about Rev. Write.

Good Morning one and all!
This is one gorgeous day in south Florida. I'll watch Meet the Press and cheer Obama on.
Yesterday's Derby was one of the saddest I have ever watched. That was a heartbreaking ending to anyone who loves animals.
No mention of the News show from Mickey's evil empire. It's Hillary. Can you say softball.
pissed off patricia @ 5:
Drat!! I have to wait until it is put on the Internet tubes after one o'clock.
Anyway, g'mornin pop
The Chaffee book is also on BookTV at 8:30 this morning. Of course that assumes you already feel you know enough about flag pins, arulgula and what Hillary did when she was six years old.
Apparently, Fox has been reading the Progressive blogs, because on today's show, they are going to discuss "Why Democrats suddly like Fox News" following Obama & Clinton's appearances on FnS and Bill'O.
Mugsy @ 9:
Is your tongue in your cheek here, or is are they really trying to pass that stone.
Mugsy @ 9:
More than likely Dems like it for its comedic value.
Chris Wallace has a problem with the DNC's new "100 years ad":
Wallace to Dean: "Why are you distorting [McCain's] record?"
Not: "ARE are you distorting [McCain's] record", but "why".
Howard Dean on Fox? First Obama, then Hillary and now this.
So much for the boycott.
Fox ratings must be way up.
Wallace keeps telling Dean he selectively edited McCain's comments, and Dean keeps pointing out that when FnS plays "the next thing McCain said" to defend him, Dean points out that FOX is selectively leaving out what is said next. Funny.
Well, It's a beautiful night here in Chiang Mai and I am going to take a walk down to the Night Market over by old Tha-Phae Gate, I'll get sprinkled on, but hey, it's 90 degrees, so sprinkle is good.
Mugsy @ 12:
One of those "have you stopped beating your wife" questions eh?
Wallace is shocked, SHOCKED that Dean would suggest "Republicans injecting Rev Wright into campaign ads is race-baiting." :)
Wallace and Dean's discussion over why Democrats stayed away from Fox News for so long is worth seeing again. :)
Wow! No one has commented on the video!?! It is great! Funny as hell!
Good Morning from Tempe, AZ! Home of the ASU Sundevils.
We're doing our part to keep Grandpa McCain out of the white house and add a few Dems to the House.
I dream of a Blue AZ! Except for the Red Rocks of Sedona . . .and the Painted Desert . . .and the Vermillion Cliffs . . .and the Grand Canyon . . .nevermind.
Do Republicans want to run against Hillary?
Wallace just showed two polls, Ohio & Florida (the 2000 & 2004 contest states) showing Hillary beating McCain and Obama losing to him.
Is this the most accepted poll or a selectivly chosen one?
Time for Terry McAuliffe to do some more Fox ass kissing, it seems.

I have a friend named Jawarski. I think he is acceptable and i selected him. He thinks we are being manipulated like never before.
xoites (Bitter before Country was Cool) defends Constitution @ 22:
I ask because after a 10-minute interview with Howard Dean accusing him of "selectively editing McCain quotes", I have to ask, did they "selectively pick" polls supporting the idea Hillary leads McCain in those states, or do most polls there say something else?
Fox is just LOVING all this new love from "Democrats" for Fox News. :-/
I called the White Horse Souse Comment line friday, 1-202-456-1111 about Dana Perino's comments that Bush has paid a price for declaring mission accomplished 5 years ago. I told the nice old lady that there were only 100 Troops killed in Iraq at that time. I told her the 3,950 troops who have died since then, the 30,000 troops who have been wounded, the 1,000,000+ Troops who have been deployed and their families, and god only knows how many Iraqis who have died and been wounded, PAID THE PRICE. The lady totally agreed with me. Imagine if the 80% of Americans who disapprove of this regime called the White Horse Souse telephones.
I don't have cable, but was sick for a few days and watched Fox News from my parents house. On Hannity and Colmes, all they talked about for the last 3 days was the Rev. Wright. They don't report on the war of terror, or the fact that Al Qaeda has a safe haven in Pakistan, they don't report on US Troops killed in Iraq. No doubt the stupid ugly americans who watch this crap believe we are winning the Global war on islamofascists in Iraq. Keith Olberman is the only man on Cable news who actually reports "news". We sure do live in interesting times. regards
One more thing, these polls of the same old 200 registered likely voters don't reflect public opinion, they manufacture public opinion. I'm surprised that in NYC that there have never ever been protests around the glass houses of Fox News, NBC, ABC, and cBS? All you ever see are stupid ugly american tourists. I'm also surprised there have never been any "terrorist" attacks on these high profile targets. In fact if we really were in a war on terror, I believe there would be things blowing up all the time. I don't believe Bush has made us safer, I believe they have hyped up the threat. No doubt the entire world hates our guts though.
Fox: "Fiorina" (McCain's economic advisor) left HP as stockholders balked at the result of the Compaq merger she pushed through."
Actually (iirc), Fiorina left under scandal when it was learned she had people reading employees private email.
Tim spent the first 15 minutes of his interview with Obama, talking about Wright. Obama did great and Tim looked stupid.
Obama is making a big rookie mistake continuing to entertain any discussion of ev. Wright. It gives the story legs and keeps him from talking about the issues, and I think his falling poll numbers show it.
He should point-blank refuse to discuss it further. "I've expressed my displease and opposition to his comments... it's time to move on."
Jesus Christ mother of God. Russert has spent 15 minutes on Wright so far.........We're doomed
Anybody else notice how Hillary made Boy George get up from those comfortable chairs and stand for the rest of the show?
So I was looking at the websites of republicans on the "War on Terror", and found it strange that none of them mention Al Qaeda in Pakistan, Osama Bin Laden, or the U.S. Military Grade Anthrax Terrorist? They all claim if we leave Iraq it will become a safe haven for Al Qaeda, even though Iraq has a Shiite Majority. The Local "News" seems terrified to call them on their horse****. USA! USA! USA!

I agree. A good response might be: "Tim, [insert number] of Americans woke up this morning wondering how they are going to fill up the tank to go to work tomorrow, or whether or not their sons and daughters will ever return from a war with no end in sight, or how they'll ever be able to afford a college education for their children. That you want to talk about a pastor from the Midwest disappointments me and I suspect, also disappoints your audience. You're better than that."
Q & A session with the audience in Indiana with Hillary and Steph.
Clinton never gives a straight answer, her answer that stands in contrast to what economists say, including her supporter Paul Krugman, shows what an "effective" politician she is. She never answered the question why she thinks a gas tax break for motorists is not supported by any leading economists and is really nothing more than pandering.
Timmeh-- "Why are you against giving the voters of Indiana and N Carolina a tax break this Summer?"
PLEEEZ....Can you front-load the question any more? What a putz. This guy's no better than the Fauxers...
HOWARD FREAKIN' DEAN!!! Nice to see Dr. Dean smack Wallace and Fox around a bit. He made Wallace look even more churlish than usual.
I suppose mocking the elderly is better than racism? You are an epic failure. Imagine a similar video for Hillary or Obama. We should stereotype now, instead of speaking intelligently? Way to go.
MSNBC/NBC...whatever...at my last count Dan Abram's "Special Report" on Wright has aired at least 8 times already since Friday. I can imagine KO having a Brokeback Mountain moment right now with his own network: "I don't know how to quit you."
Hillary extends the nuclear umbrella to Bairain and every other Middle Eastern dictatorship. Yawn. Give me more Rev. Wright. I can relate to that.
Rico 34
Great answer. All these Sunday morning clowns need to be bitch slapped
at every chance, especially Russert. If he started getting more answers like yours perhaps he would start to ask the important questions.
Of course, this presupposes that the guests actually have a brain and a spine,
which is not always the case.
Rico @ 34:
But Timmeh didn't have any other questions prepared by his corporate masters to fill that 15 minute slot. Asking the puppet to improvise would have killed the show (yawn...) Then we'd have been subject to even more GE, etc ads.
yes that video was funny, but really what you have to laugh about?hes sceduled as your next president! hes a tool and they can use him like they have with bush! and what they want they get! see how that works? you dont really believe they built that embassy in iraq only to give it up do you? or all thoes bases there just to turn them over to iraq, even if they pull a few brigades out of iraq a month they allready told you thoes troops will be sent to the meat grinder in afganistan, and the war goes on, as soon as we start to withdraw any troops from iraq the freedom fighters will be killing our troops just to insure we do get out , then our leaders will start building up troops to fight them , its like haveing a tiger by the tail , you cant turn loose , enjoy the fantasy!
odanny @ 35:
Obama told Russert that McCain & Hillary's "gas tax holiday" was (quote) "pandering".
Scheiffer on the Lorita Doan "resignation": Are Americans now conditioned to expect less than the whole truth from their elected officials (ie White House)?"
Hillary, when called to the carpet on her "obliterate Iran" comment, went into full fearmongering mode.
This woman is simply incapable of admitting she makes mistakes. She has never once admitted she misspeaks. Instead she spins so much even Bill gets dizzy.

Obama kicks ass! Who isn't sick of the Bushs and the Clintons?
Mugsy @ 44:
It certainly is. 18 friggin' cents per gallon is chump change these days. If anything, now is the time to INCREASE that Federal gas tax to get more funding for highway construction and maintenance projects that could employ thousands more people.
Of course, suggesting so on the campaign trail would be political suicide. What a shame.
Hillary didn't hear anyone criticize the Bear-Stearns bailout???
Hillary doesn't believe in economists?! Haw Haw Haw Haw Haw!
#50 Ryan said: Hillary doesn’t believe in economists?! Haw Haw Haw Haw Haw!"
Better than that she actually called them "elitists" and included the rest of the Democratic leadership in Congress who believes this gas-tax holiday is irresponsible policy at best. The Clinton strategy continues: "Break anything in your way, and worry about picking up the pieces later."
I know this is off topic, but when are you going to upgrade and fix this site? Half the time I don't get the refresh bar or the reply to bar. It is getting hard to come here and not have the site work.
We all need to face the fact that the msm are not going to allow a black man to be president. White ministers have said far worse and nothing from the msm. The sad thing is that it is working even with democrats. The majority of white male democrats are not and will not vote for a black man. So far Mclaughlin has also spent 15 minutes on Rev Wright and they are not even done yet. Clinton supporters think that this will not come back to haunt Hillary, but the msm smear machine will use Rev Wright against her also if she wins. Democrats should remember that the Clintons had Wright to the white house to minister to Bill.
Charlie Wrangle, a Clinton supporter, lands one sqarely on the jaw of Wolf Blitzer, CNN late edition, about the media's coverage of Wright. Wolf didn't see it coming. Don't expect to see this much on replay.
Flip it onto CNN and the firs thing out of Wolfman's mouth is "Rev. Wright"....and his guest is Charlie Rangel (black) Donna Brazile (black) and some Reverend from somewhere (also black) and they are trying to TATTOO this issue into peoples brains.
Fuck The Media.
The shows are nearly over on the East coast and I'm going outside to be in the sun and plant some annuals. Just want you all to know that I'll feel much safer outside today knowing that Hillary Clinton has further extended the nuclear umbrella.
You know what? If you are as sick as I am of this media blitz about everything Rev. Wright, take some time into your weekend (or next week) to sit down and write your local newspaper. Its about time WE tell the media we are sick of this shit. Enmasse.
RE # 54 my own post and reference to "Charlie Wrangle." That's not a typo. Even though I think he picked the wrong candidate this cycle, I truly love Rangel.
I think it is plausible that Pat Tillman was murdered to help sell the war to America -- especially given the other known lies such as the Jessica Lynch story.
AKA just another war crime to the Bush administration.... big whoop.
And thanks for the heads up on Chafee's new book (sounds interesting, and one Rep. I CAN respect) as well as the story on Tillman, which is almost too depressing to hear. A genuine hero and he ends up dead in a fratricide incident that the government covers up.
Ugh.
And yes, it is plausible that Tillman was murdered. The story of dying by .50 cal fire is a bold lie. He was hit in a tight shot group in the face (close range only makes this possible) and apparently by three rounds. A .50 round, just one, would likely remove your head from your body.
Also, it was reported that CIA "operatives" were in the area at the time of his death and were dismounted about the time the shooting started.
I bet that when Crash McCain loses the election in November , the missus divorces his sorry ass. The only reason she's sticking is that this slut of his thinks she'll be the country's next first c*nt. Am I right or wrong?
OK, last comment, but at least wanted to get back OT:
Jimmy Carter is a brilliant man, he knows to get parties to reconcile their differences and to achieve real measurable change you must intitiate a dialogue.
As he is doing with Hamas.
Yet here is Wolfie pushing down his throat the meme that "Hamas is pledged to Israel's destruction" as if this message is true. That is what Carter has to deal with in Wolfie.
Sad.
Listening to audio of Fux as I type. Can't decide which is worse: listening to Wallace (blathering on about, what else, Wright) or watching it speak on TV. Truly a wretched survivor of a botched abortion.
bigironal @ 62:
Probably part of the pre-nup...
Mugsy @ 18:
Hat tip, Heather... again. (sarcasm)
What's catching my eye this morning?
What caught my eye immediately is the fact that this post shows the morning line-up of Face the Nation; Meet the Press; Late Edition; Fox News Sunday; and the Chris Matthews Show in boldface type, but ABC's "This Week" with Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is in plain type burried in the paragraph above.
That's what caught my eye.
That's pretty lame.
I looked and also didn't see This Week with Hillary Clinton mentioned. Did look in the paragraph above. Actually, I wasn't very surprised that it wasn't listed.
Oops! "Didn't" look in above paragraph.
Carly Fiorina is a consultant for McLame's campaign? I thought that was a joke! Well, whoever the democrat is will win the white house for certain. That bitch should have been with teh Boosh administration, another ultimate incompetent!
