I distinctly recall two polls taken deep into the runup to the current Invasion of Iraq.
Americans for the Invasion: 76%
American high school graduates who can find Iraq on a map: 24%
Hmm ..
76% + 24% = 100%
Could it be that the minority among us who know where Iraq is, are precisely the ones who knew the Invasion was gonna be a big mess?
http://s205.photobucket.com/albums/bb58/Icon1948/?action=view¤t=If...
Cool graphics, but I'd argue that the number of US citizens who could find Iraq on a map is far smaller than the approximately 20% indicated in blue.
BTW, what is the actual % breakdown of the three colors in our flag, anyone?
Campaign got ya' feelin' "gassy"?:

Perhaps Bush will be invading Brazil next to prevent flag desecration.
And John W. McSame will support the move, wait a few days, and then criticize how the invasion went.

What the heck do we need elections for when we have internet polls? Bas how many hours did you spend voting Obama over and over again. Admittedly Obama is a righteous dude but no one over the age of two would buy this nonsense.
Very sobering and sad statistics.
Good evening, BaScOmBe. :)
joe in oklahoma @ 9:
Hush Joe! Bas put in many hours voting for Obama over and over and over again. Don't spoil all his hard work with silly facts.
I personally believe the U.S. Americans are unable to do so because some people out there in our nation don’t have maps and I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and the Iraq everywhere like such as and I believe they should our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S. or should help South Africa or should help the Iraq and Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future for us.

Peter G @ 32:
The latest I've seen says otherwise. I tell the youngsters (18-30 year-olds, I'm 63)
that unless they want the draft reinstated to fill the ranks for 100 years of war they better vote for the democratic candidate.
These colours don't run the world.
They can't even run their own country.
Ron @ 38:
I went into wikipedia and looked up the demographics for the counties that had the huge voter list purges. The either had a large black population like Gary Indiana or they have a large population of 19-39 year olds. They are purging demographic areas that would support Obama.

I thought that Hillary was planning on ending the war if elected. I am not so sure, after her psycho-babble about Iran. Honestly, I thought that Bill Clinton was a safe President. The kind of guy you could trust not to do anything too stupid. I'm not sure sure about them anymore. I don't want them in the White House. The idea of going to war with Iran scares the hell out of me. It seems like it has the potential to spiral out of control.
I Like Pie @ 53:
One thing i am certain of, she is not a Democrat. She has returned to her Republican roots and anybody who thinks otherwise should start paying attention.

Global warming might wipe out tropical insects. Another officer speaks out against war with Iran, since we're over-stretched in Iraq and Afghanistan. How long before he gets fired?
Tequila @ 57:
He wasn't?
I wish I had remembered that my new phone has a camera on it (I hate being forgetful), on Saturday I chanced to see the rare Hillary bumper sticker on a car in Eugene, OR. Next to it was an other sticker saying no to war with Iraq. It was my ironic moment for the day.

This has nothing to do with anything. I just need to vent. Skip it if you wish.
(full disclosure) I'm pretty hopped up on pain-killers right now. About 2 months ago I cracked both of my lower wisdom teeth eating crap I probably should not have been eating at my age. I went to the Dentist who did a panoramic x-ray,cleaned up the jagged edges on the wisdoms told me I was about to have a serious problem with a different tooth and gave me a referral to an Oral Surgeon. I went to the OS and he insisted on his own panoramic x-ray, gave me a check-up and suggested extracting the two wisdoms and starting an implant on the other tooth. Of coarse by this time (May) I've already run through my Dental Insurance except for $182.00.
The procedures I had done today, if there are no complications, is just under 6 grand.
My economy stimulus plan check will almost cover the anesthesia. I told the surgeon that I thought I should at least get a free ham or something. Surgeons don't have great senses of humor.
Sadly, I don't think anyone dying in Iraq is dying so much for our freedom but more to make some people even more undeservedly rich.
To Corey Hicks' family i would like to say i wish this country never fucked up so bad that he died.
To the owner of the Hummer the limited number of cuss words in my vocabulary would not adequately express my feelings toward you.

My ex girlfriend at the time had to have her's taken out a few weeks before mine. She had no insurance so she went to Georgetown University's Dental School where she had it done for free under a CIA pain experiment program.

I guess that I had the same question.
Well Somalia certainly sucks.
I am convinced. America is better than Somalia.
xoites (Bitter before Country was Cool) defends Constitution @ 103:
For now.
Since this is an open thread, I need to put a few things down that have been rattling around in my head.
When I voted in my primary, it was a week or so after my first choice for the Dem candidate dropped out - John Edwards -- and I had to make a very quick decision in the voting booth. I wish I could have my vote back. I wish my state's primary were tomorrow. Although I really have no problem that choosing a candidate has taken longer than expected, even though the so-called experts say it is hurting the Democratic party - I think that in reality, many of the states in play now are happy to be able to have a say in our ultimate candidate.
That being said, there can only be one winner. But I am bothered by quite a few things. Personally, it bothers me to no end that a blow-hard like Rush Limbaugh can get on the airwaves and spew forth to middle class republicans that choose to go forth and try to skew the election in favor of one or the other candidates.
( It bothers me that these republicans think that they are voting in their best interest, when in fact they are voting in favor of the monied interests - the very wealthy --- who will benefit, not the middle class)
It bothers me that Ms. Clinton appears to have gotten the support of Richard Mellon Scaife AND Rupert Murdock -- and it worries me what back room promises Ms. Clinton has made in order to secure their support. It bothers me that she might have promised them continued consolidation of the corporate media. And if that happens, it bothers me that that one final act will put the final nail in the coffin of what this grand experiment of a democracy attempted to do. It bothers me that with Ms. Clinton or John McCrazy as president, net neutrality will become lost and the voices of independent minded folks will disappear in favor of the big monied interests and the big money pay per view Internet suppliers.
It bothers me that Ms. Clinton has chosen the tactics that she has in order to win. I understand that she believes that she is the best candidate to win against McCain and is playing to win. I want a fighter in the white house and politics make strange bedfellows as they say... but it leaves an unsavory taste in my mouth now.
It bothers me that Ms. Clinton and McCain want to obliterate Iran. Iran is not Iraq. You think our economy stinks now, wait and see if we attack Iran.
I hope as people go to the poles tomorrow, that they vote for hope, they vote for peace, they vote for sanity.
LibertyLover @ 105:
I hear you loud and clear.
Personally i think we should have all the primaries on the same day. That way the media would have a lot less to do with the process.
CD? Do you have an answer yet?
Well if not i have a suggestion.
It is almost two months until July 4, more than enough time for you to write an essay on how proud you are that America is better than Somalia and C&L has been kind enough to give you a link to a visual example.
xoites (Bitter before Country was Cool) defends Constitution @ 106:
And instant run-off voting would be nice, too. Perhaps Howard Dean can work on that for the next Presidential election.
You could entitle it:
Americans Are Less Ignorant than Somali Women are Disfigured.
Kinda catchy, donchya think?
LibertyLover @ 105
Poles can vote tomorrow? Where, in Indiana? Now, that's a novel way to rig the election.
{Sorry} ;)
LibertyLover @ 105:
Hey LibertyLover If you had to vote over I must remind you Hillary is now basically saying, vote for her or die ;)
You seem like a reasonable person, in that HRC just bothers you, it bothers me that she is a lying, panderer & like you I hope Indiana puts an end to her charade today.
Indiana can start the month by bouncing HRC & end the month w/the Indy 500 :)
LibertyLover @ 108:
I think ultimately that will end up being up to us.
Karen @ 110:
I hear they do in Warsaw. :)
LibertyLover @ 108:
IRV for the presidential elections would be fantastic!
As for the primary system, the only thing that worries me about having one national primary is the increased difficulty for lesser-known candidates to make a national name for themselves. Beginning in Iowa and New Hampshire at least allows someone to come from nowhere, receive national attention without having to raise a billion dollars, and become a serious presidential contender.
Karen @ 114:
Well we have to figure something out because this shit does not work.
xoites (Bitter before Country was Cool) defends Constitution @ 94:
I said it "may be the most Pro-American bit of international satire I've seen since the Iraq War started."
That isn't saying mcuh.
Karen @ 114:
Example, Obama. He wasn't always at the top.
If the Democrats had a winner take all primary system, Hillary would be the Nominee now.
CD @ 116:
I am sorry you see it as satire and confounded that you see it as "Pro American."
I am still waiting for your explanation on that statement.
Karen @ 110:
well, I wish this Pole could vote tomorrow. :)
RTLM @ 118:
If we had a Monarchy Bush would win. If i had a dollar for every lie Rush Limbaugh ever told i would need body guards.
So what?
RTLM @ 118:
A winner take all primary hardly seems very democratic, now does it?
xoites (Bitter before Country was Cool) defends Constitution @ 121:
So what? So the Democrats are very near nominating an unelectable candidate - Obama.
And which lies has Limbaugh told?
(specifics over obfuscation please)
shiloh @ 111:
I don't dislike HRC. I think that she would make a fantastic President. But that being said, I also believe that Obama is probably the right person for the job, right now.
Here's one: If Florida and Michigan had not broken the rules and Obama's name had been on the ballot Hillary might not be so eager to have their delegates included and worse, might be sitting at home watching it all on tv by now.
RTLM @ 118:
If a different sperm had beaten yours, you wouldn't exist right now.
RTLM @ 123:
Rush Limbaugh has been telling lies ( sorry, obfuscations) for over 20 years. He's a hypocrite and a misogynist and a bigot. His life is a lie. And he probably knows it which is why he has to stuff down all the guilt he has over the lies he tells with food and oxycontin. I don't think that he likes himself very well. But what do I know?
xoites (Bitter before Country was Cool) defends Constitution @ 125:
Hillary won Florida as it were. She has won all large population states (ie: CA, NY). Obama's lead is artificial and the result of the way Democrats hold their primaries empowering these "Super Delegates". No one else actually chooses the Dem nominee.
(Party Elite)
RTLM wants Hillary and is defending Rush.
I just don't know what to say!
RTLM says Obama is unelectable.
I think RTLM is a ditto head.
xoites (Bitter before Country was Cool) defends Constitution @ 130:

xoites (Bitter before Country was Cool) defends Constitution @ 132:
Weren't you going to provide me with a Rush fact check(s)?
(hoping)
RTLM @ 129:
As it were?
You don't mean "i.e.", which means "in other words." You mean "e.g.", which means "for example."
Obama's lead is with the pledged delegates. The declared super delegates favor Clinton, so far.
And so, the answer is to have a winner-take-all primary system that resembles the electoral college insofar as it could grant delegates disproportionately to the popular vote?
Man the right is scared shitless of Obama.
RTLM @ 133:
Bandwidth is far too expensive to fact-check Rush on these threads. I wouldn't want to bankrupt C&L by enumerating his lies.
Karen @ 136:
Gosh, Karen, where would you even begin on a task such as that?
RTLM @ 133:
Hope away.
There is no reason outside of being tied down in a chair with a gun pointed at my head that i would spend more than five minutes listening to a racist facsist spew filth and lies and poison reasoned discourse in America. For me to waste my time arguing about such a paramecium is well beneath even my wildest concept of my deepest depravity.
LibertyLover @ 137:
Like the inalienable rights of persons, HeadRush Limbo's lies are unenumerable. ;)
Karen @ 139:
Not to mention obvious at first glance.
Karen @ 134:
Yes. The Dems could potentially have an internal '2000. Where by the time the convention takes place, Obama could be so damaged that the "Supers" may return back to Hillary. Setting off bad behavior in Denver.
Or, at the very least perturb the supporters of the losing camp to either stay home or vote for McCain just to crap on the head of the other.
(Either way is fine)
RTLM @ 141:
And it is also concievable that Rush will have an annurism and die and you won't know what to say.
To anybody.
For the rest of your life.
RTLM @ 141
Either way is fine? What? With you? What's your point? Why are you posting here?
