UPDATE: NBC has declared Obama the projected winner of North Carolina; Indiana "too early to call"
UPDATE #2: Indiana is now "too close to call" with key precincts projected for Obama yet to fully report; at this time, Clinton has 51%; Obama 49%. Perhaps as a signal of how close the count has become, MSNBC is reporting that Clinton has canceled all scheduled appearances for tomorrow.
UPDATE #3: MSNBC is now calling Indiana for Clinton. However, final counts from some precincts will not be in until tomorrow morning.

Clinton, Hillary

The link text should be "North Carolina" not "North Carloina". ;-)
Like voting matters anymore.
Clinton isn't the winner
This just in:
The Clinton Camp says only the first 5% reporting in really count
Why is McCain listed?
The worst part and the most destructive part of this process is that it is letting McCain off the hook. With no pressure on him at all, he is becoming overly tired and having many "senior moments", lying, flipping, breaking down, etc. McCain can't survive a 4 month campaign, but he probably could survive this boondoggle of a two month campaign.
BennyP @ 2:
LOL, you already figured it out too? MSNBC is already spinning North Carolina as "400,000 people voted 20 days early before Reverend Wright so their votes are probably for Obama but they shouldn't count because a vote for Obama is a vote for Reverend Wright." Even if the votes do count, North Carolina has a lot of Black people and states with caucuses, smaller than Texas, or have a lot of Black people don't count.
So the beat goes on.......
pete @ 5:
Yeah. Who else can win or cares?
Putting the parties side by side is misleading. repugs don't have the numbers.
So will Clinton finally quit tonight?
Hillary changed the goal post once again today concerning the number of delegates needed to win the nomination. In my mind that goes beyond testicular fortitude, and I'm not sure there's even a word for it.
doc barb @ 4:
Damn it was a good joke, but you messed it up.
my favorite thing about the results so far is that obama can only go up...
tHeIKnowAHusseinGaMeOfLiFe Says:
Damn it was a good joke, but you messed it up.
I'm not surprised - but how?
This just in...just the first 8 percent?
For God's sake man, fix that spelling error before I smash my computer.
Rico @ 10:
Ha, wait until the convention when she argues that according to the original Bill of Rights, Black people were only considered to be 3/5ths of a person so they can only make 3/5ths of a vote. So every Black vote, Black pledged delegate, and Black Superdelegate will count as 3/5ths to give her the lead.
Now that the Diebold machines have tallied their results we can start adding up the real votes.
pete @ 5:
In case Hillary loses. He's a perfect back-up.
So far the hard drinking , preacher-hatin' , gun-totin' good 'ol girl from Scranton via Yale leads Indiana 60 to 40 . Enjoy your free partial tank of gas this summer, Hoosiers .
One half the voters in Indiana considered Rev. Wright as "significant" in their decision. Congrats MSM. Mission Accomplished!
My stomach hurts...
Do I just not understand, or is Obama leading in delegates 5 to 4 while getting whooped popular vote wise? Can't remember which one counts more this week though. Gotta go ask Hill.
mlorenz @ 1:
Freudian maybe !
My bet is Clinton will be the Candidate.
Will be interesting to see what effect that Clinton 'sniper rifle' mailer attack on Obama has.
Can she sink that low (below the gutter and down into the drains) and still win ?
ferrofluid @ 24:
Sadly, yes, she could sink lower and probably will
Predictions:
Sen. Clinton will win more delegates in Indiana.
Sen. Obama will win more delegates in North Carolina.
The media will report that Clinton "won Indiana" and that Obama "won North Carolina."
Clinton will vow to stay in the race at her victory party.
Obama will welcome Clinton's continued challenge at his.
All the talking heads who said that this round would settle the election will now say that the next round will settle the election.
The next round will not settle the election.
Karen @ 26:
then the 'liberal' MSM goes back to promoting Wright 24/7 and why Obama is BFF with him, and implied scary black radical stuff.
LOL - Obama has already won North Carolina, but it has already been dismissed as "Too Black".
By who, just wondering? Was that from a specific commentator?
j @ 9:
If she doesn't she in it for herself and for her husband's ego.
I wonder if bill will sell monica a night in lincoln's bedroom?
YES WE CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NC is called for Obama. Now it is impossible for Clinton to take the lead on pledged delegates. Her only chance to win at this point is to change the rules to give her the delegates from Florida and Michigan (where Obama wasn't even on the ballot), or have the superdelegates overturn the will of the people and give it to her.
Either one of those two options will fracture the Democratic party for a generation by alienating African Americans and young voters who have come out in force to support Obama. It's time she does what is best for the party and withdraw. If she keeps this up the people from New York, like me, will get back at her in the 2012 Senate election.
cv @ 29:
If your comment was about my comment....
Well I'm watching MSNBC and the narrative being discussed between Keith, Chris, Tim and Tom is 92% of Blacks supported Obama so that is how he won. And if that's the case, how will they respond if Hillary is the nominee. Overall, I find it to be VERY dismissive and everyone is still talking up the "rural voters" in Indiana even though North Carolina counts as a BIG STATE.
Only Tim Russert is using common sense by saying Hillary is running out of real estate and she needed to win both to make any convincing argument. And his number with White voters is up in NC.
Why are all these ridiculous pundits saying they asked the voters in Indiana about Rev Wright? Did they also ask about Bosnia lies or mention that over 200 economics experts saying Hillary is wrong about the "holiday" and that she is just pandering (lying)?
Wow, NC closed after Indiana and they have already predicted Obama the winner.
Mister Anderson @ 28:
You noticed that too? Who would have ever thought that college educated, 6-figure income, white males like me who support Obama don't figure into the equation?
Well, the smirk is off Caputo's face, that's for sure...
nickelking @ 353:
They probably believe that Dewey really did beat Truman too.
Mister Anderson @ 351:
It's going to play out however it plays out.
bmw H. 528 @ 361:
Ha! Exactly! What I find most amusing is McCain is under 80% in each state.
bmw H. 528 @ 361:
I think Obama is going to fall about 20,000 votes short. But it was a damn foolish thing for CBS to do.
Clinton campaign: 'real men' are racists.
Here she comes.
Rico @ 355:
Considering their respective demographics that ticket would undoubtedly be the best and would render the Florida/ Michigan question moot. It would also speedily mend fences.
Holy crap Bill's face is red. He looks like a tomato standing behind her.
Fanon @ 359:
howzit Fanon?
I see what your saying and I would have to agree with you. But after Kerry in 2004, I don't think it matters anymore. It would still be used against her.
Hillary's fake smile looks a little worn tonight.
Well, I guess I got my answer. Stanley Cup it is! Old time hockey and bring on the foil.
Wikipedia says lake county is 25.33% African American. That usually means the % of Democrats who are AA is considerably higher. Lake county is the second largest county in Indiana.
No wonder most of the news guys are calling IN too close to call.
Fanon @ 368:
he's got the bends. too much shilling :-)
Johnny2Bad @ 222:
I'll put this in language you can easily grasp:
[I'll put this in language you can easily grasp: Deleted-Sitemonitor]
I swear that face and voice have become as repellent as W's.
Peter G @ 367:
i wouldn't vote for obama if he surrenders and picks hillary for vp.
Fanon @ 368:
No kidding. He looks like he's about to stroke out.
Ruthless People @ 320:
This is exciting. hillary isn't winning BIG in IN as hillary's supports believed. And Obama tooka NC like as they suspected?
The talking heads are talking about hillary going further. GMAFB!
Based on what? Please don't refer to MI and FL.
hillary is bossy as hell also.
It's her sneaky repug way or she will sue.
OMG hillary is making a victory speech before the votes are counted. GMAFB.
Fanon @ 371:
damn right - red wings all the way. No one can stop the Franzen. But I am somewhat sad the Habs got knocked off. Old school would be so sweet, eh? ;-)
Chris H. @ 357:
That's funny, why the hell is that!
Atheists do on occasion fill their grammar with religious expletives, I catch myself often invoking a non existent deity.
Wow...
Is Hillary living in the George W. Bush bunker now?
How in the hell is she going to get to the White House from a narrow win in Indiana?
Why is she still plugging her website? Who's going to give her millions of dollars just to compete in Kentucky and Puerto Rico?
Peter G @ 367:
When it comes down to beating the republicans, I think this is the best option. Obama/Clinton is a for sure win in the general.
Which would be the best option for the country.imo.
"I need your help to continue our journey."
So, get out there and smear Obama some more.
Did she really just beg for money five minutes in to her speech? Gah.
for a working class hero, hillary is sure a boring speaker.
Get me out of Indiana. I want Hillary out of my life (too).
A 4 point lead? I hated my voting machine. Recount? No paper trail.
Period. 30,000 votes with 85 % in and she's doing her acceptance speech.
BLAH. SHIT. F*CK.
Republican Lite Mark II is proclaiming victory in IN. Blech! Come on Gary...take the wind out of her sails!
bmw H. 528 @ 377:
I feel sorry for Bill. He was the most famous politician in the world from 1992 - 2008. If Obama wins and even becomes a average President, Bill will just be a footnote in history and only remembered for Monica Lewinsky.
No. 44 @ 383:
Give her a few more minutes, her speech is not yet finished.
Alice (formerly Hussein, live free of the Borg or die) @ 325:
That is low considering there is 156 delegates in NC.
Hillary Clinton makes me ill. Her strategy of attacking Obama to win is so low-ball that she should be ashamed (but never will) of her desperate tactics. Hillary is in this losing position because she thought it was her's by some divine right of King's that all Mrs. Clinton had to do was show up and it was for the taking. Clinton has acted like a big baby and spoiled brat who kicks and screams and rants on about others and will do anything to anyone in her way, because of a tantrum she is having.
Clinton's tirades and other nonsense is appalling. I actually voted for Hillary over Obama in CT, but, her actions have done nothing but to help divide the Democratic Party that her husband Bill also set out to destroy with the awful "Welfare Reform" bill.
Samantha Power was correct---Hillary Clinton is a "Monster."
Perhaps, I will vote for John McCain, should Hillary get the nod in some dirty ploy down the road. The Democratic Party is a joke these days and its only because the right-wing is dormant that the Democrats will win in November, but Clinton's actions are an embarrassment to decent living people.
If Gary takes this from her she'll be sunk by this speech.
Only two minutes into Hillary's speech and to me she appears totally ungracious and equally uncommitted to defeating the Republicans in November. I'm more convinced now than ever that it's more about her and the Clinton "legacy" than anything else. I'm depressed again.
Three minutes into the speech and the pandering continues. F her.
Mister Anderson @ 381:
Gee, I wonder what Wunderwaffen will come out of the Hillarybunker next to save their sorry ass? Who does she think she is, the reincarnation of Frederick the Great?
Russert and Brokaw and arguing that the Gas Tax Holiday probably killed her because Obama was struggling with Wright and that Gas Tax issue gave him something to fight her and McCain on. I think they might be right.
bushflipflops @ 32:
If I understand the rules correctly (which I might not), it would not be against the rules to seat half of the delegates from each state that violates the calendar. I haven't done any math relating to what that would mean for Clinton's delegate count.
I was living in New York when she first ran for Senate. I was quite excited to support her. I no longer do. Sad.
not sure how this works, how do they determine he won when 0% is reporting, yet %20 of indiana is reporting and we don't know who won that one?
gObama!
Karen @ 26 Yep, that's exactly what's going to happen.
They need to change to score board and remove the NC check from Hillary and put it next to Barack!
More than that, the 0% reporting is in favor of Clinton.
Mister Anderson @ 33:
If the "big state" argument carries any weight at all (which it doesn't), Obama's potential to carry North Carolina in the general election by turning out the African American vote more than ever before would mark a significant victory for the Democrats.
I think we have a better chance at taking Virginia, where we should campaign like hell in the general. But if we managed to take North Carolina, it would give us an even better edge in the electoral college.
yes please fix the major typo, it hurts looking at that.
I can't and don't speak for the entire Black community, like no individual Black person does regardless of how loud they are (Sharpton) or what the MSM may portray, but the "water cooler" discussion I'm hearing is that if Hillary steals the nomination.......then there's going to be a grassroots movement for Blacks to still turn out and vote in record numbers, but write-in Barack's name.
so - you are listing clinton as winning NC?
What's up with green check next to HRC in NC box? Not a funny prank there CNL!¡
Why do I get a sinking feeling about this, I keep seeing Hillary coming out on top, don't ask me why. But any other candidate would have pulled out by now, but she is determined to run until the end. Does she have something up her sleeve?
Mister Anderson @ 33:
Sorry, yes it was, and I'm totally with you. Though it's a crazy day indeed if Tim Russert is using common sense.
And her "gas tax holiday" is a horrible idea. Republican Light Mark II.
P.D. @ 89:
The problem is that HRC is a REPUBLICAN running on a Democratic ticket. Look at her campaign so far, Democrats don't work dirty like that. She is not a nice person at all. Remember Connecticut and LIEberman? Think Lieberman when you consider voting for HRC. I wouldn't vote for her if she was the only one running. Write in someone who you could in good conscience vote for. IF she steals the nomination it will be because of Rovian tactics. If she becomes president the power hungry [Deleted. Misogyny-Sitemonitor] will be no better then McCain. Only difference would be she is brighter and would be careful so she wouldn't get caught in lies so easily.
Phantom One @ 390:
LOL get lost and don't waste our time here then.
What's with the woman in back of her with a button stuck on her forehead?
bmw H. 528 @ 393:
I never seen a thousand people cheer at a funeral before. This is depressing.
nickelking @ 391:
at this point, i don't think they mathematically can, but it will still be close.
Mister Anderson @ 394:
absolutely right. The people know a boondoggle when they smell it. And Obama hit the nail on the head when he pointed out that the 45c/gal could be taken as profit in a heartbeat.
Rico @ 19:
The fucking morons will never learn.
killthepoor @ 376:
That's ok. John McCain is still running. He's only wanted to bomb Iran thus far, but maybe enough Clinton supporters can convince him to nuke it.
Why does she talk to me like I'm retarded?
SERIOUSLY!!!
Is Bill having a stroke behind her????
EJG @ 396:
Your confused. There is a big difference between Bush Crony Capitalism and Democratic Opportunity Capitalism.
Free Sidney Scooter III @ 189:
Many people don't understand that LIEberman's hands are all over this election: DLC with Hillary(and Bill is a bushie), advisors on Obama's staff and his mouth in McAin't's zipper.
NoGWBpolicyleftinplace @ 402:
And yet...
Too close to call. Still!
Mister Anderson @ 405:
It's slightly troubling, isn't it?
Mister Anderson @ 405:
Nah...just food poisoning. Eating too much crow.
Rico @ 404:
Show some respect, a majority of her supporters are over 70 and hard of hearing!
Mister Anderson @ 399:
True. What massive denial. But I have a new campaign song for them---Liebestod from Gotterdaemmerung.
killthepoor @ 400:
72% of the city alone will put him ahead.
Hillary Clinton....Joe Lieberman in drag.
Rico @ 404:
Try adjusting your perception.
Fanon @ 409:
He's as red as a fire hydrant and his mouth keeps getting stuck in akward positions. For God sakes, let that man rest!
L.A. Confidential @ 415:
Why does she talk to me like I give a shit what she says?
I am at school right now. That I am not listening to those windbags on TV is GREAT. Although I cannot hear them, no doubt, that those windbags on TV and big media are as repetitive and redundant, as ever, and, of course, boring, with little or next to nothing, to add of any value, to the political debate. Take care.
Congrats to Barack Obama!
L.A. Confidential @ 415:
to what?
Where is the concession speech?
She just proved that she can win a squeeker with the help of Rush Limbaugh and Reverend Wright. Can she win without them?
Nuclear option: house the votes in FLA and MI.
Rico @ 404:
She knows you're listening?
dc @ 417:
C'mon, you gotta find some humor in any desperate candidate who can mention Burma, Michigan, and Florida within three sentences of each other.
Holy crap, did she just bring up 9/11. Seriously? What a drag.
OOH OOH 9/11 reference!!! Everybody drink!!!
killthepoor @ 419:
Try scooping out your frontal lobe and see if that helps.
porkchop @ 425:
what did she say? quote anyone?
Fanon @ 424:
She threw out the washer and dryer in this speech. Burma? Burma?
I know they are having a tragedy, but she mentioned it in a part of her speech where it didn't fit. Like they wrote down notes of what she should talk about and rushed to put them together while they were driving over.
Mister Anderson @ 423:
Don't forget 9/11.
dc @ 417:
Ask her.
Buh bye, Hillary.....time to take a seat
Karen @ 41:
I think North Carolina and Virginia are in play as well. Pennsylvania will stay with the Democrats once the media brings up Hagee and his comments about Catholics.
Geoff @ 45:
It's not the check mark that's wrong. It's the name. NBC already called it. It'll be fixed.
wtf is going on the NC stuff?
joe
HELLO.... there is a check mark by Clinton's name and intoxination has the results for Obama (58%) and Clinton (32%) mixed up
Dr. Biitter Hussein (Mission Accomplished) Matt @ 48:
Amen
Obama's cleaning up in the South...I guess they don't want to vote for a black guy in the oh so politically correct and open minded North and the Midwest.
Does this mean that the Yankees and Midwesterners are the new racist rednecks? Can us Southerners let you guys take that claim for a while? Ha ha...
bushflipflops @ 32:
Spitzer for HRC seat in 2012 sounds good to me.
UPDATE: NBC has declared Obama the projected winner of North Carolin[a]...
then why is there a check next to hillary's name up there?
North Carolina must be a small state. Or a caucus state. Or a state that doesn't count.
Mister Anderson @ 49:
You assume the media will bring that up. ;)
Democrats absolutely MUST NOT ignore Virginia. If we can keep all the states that Kerry won in 2004, we can win the election by adding Virginia and New Mexico.
That is VERY, VERY POSSIBLE.
This site gives the 6 different scenarios for seating MI and FL. Under all circumstances Obama still leads. cool site.
http://demconwatch.blogspot.com/2008/05/fl-mi-by-numbers.html
cv @ 47:
I CAN'T BELIEVE MY FREAKIN' EARS!!!
Joe "I love Hillary" Scarborough is actually the first talking head to say that if Obama wins by double digits in North Carolina then this race is over. That there is no reason to continue the race beyond tomorrow because Hillary won't be able to win on any of her core arguments.
If that's the case, this will be a GREAT night because the media is about to do another 180 and start questioning why Hillary is staying in the race if she can't possibly win? They're going to ask her that after Obama had the worst three weeks of his political career, why couldn't you make up any ground in NC and doesn't his win there fly in the face of your BIG STATE argument?
Indiana will tighten because Gary, the fifth largest city and 87% black, is in the central time zone while the rest of the state (except for the southwest tip) is counting an hour ahead.
ferrofluid @ 55:
I still like Spitzer, but I think he is finished in politics. Besides the prostitutes he pissed alot of people off with the ID's for illegal immigrants, and that whole spying on Bruno affair.
Mindy @ 52:
they tend to swap percentages and candidates when needed, happened several times in HRC favor.
The company that does the tabulating for the various elections is owned by the MSM.
VEP is its most recent name I think, changed names three times so far to avoid its past bad rep.
Mister Anderson @ 15:
Youve seen the Diebold code then...
This just in from the Clinton Camp...
Only the MIDDLE 10% counts.
Karen @ 58:
Virginia is possible, but McCain has a better shot at New Mexico due to his relationship with hispanic voters, and it's the state next door to his home state. But Iowa will definitely be in play.
ferrofluid @ 27:
They better come better than that.
There will be an avalance of you tube vids
It doesn't work for hillary and it doesn't work for repugs.
Go Obama!
Go USA!
Go IN!
Go NC!
Here’s a good summary of some reasons to consider supporting Obama.
Share this with anyone you know who’s still undecided.

Janet @ 34:
They are MSM Clinton McCain funded pundits, corrupt to a person.
Patricio @ 54:
Nicely done. :)
Of course, we could say that the southern, white racists are Republicans, while even the Democrats won't vote for a woman. ;)
doc barb @ 65:
HAHAHAHAHA
porkchop @ 425:
Gotcha!
Peter g @ 422:
maby she knows you personaly?
Mister Anderson @ 428:
It was pretty schizophrenic. She went from strident-commander-in-chief hillary and then soft squishy hillary and back again.
killthepoor @ 419:
Whatever you wish. It's your mind. Take control of it.
nickelking @ 413:
kos says he needs to take 57% of Lake Co. and that is a tall order but "we'll see". Man, if Gary snatches victory from the jaws of Clinton, it will be the first time in my life that I'll be saying that I am proud to be from da Region.
nickelking @ 413:
Maybe you have already commented on this, but the mayor of Gary is predicting a massive turnout for Obama--apparently that's why the race hasn't been called yet. This was just posted on the WaPo web site.
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2008/05/06/gary_mayor_predicts_...
Well, she's talking from my state's capital and I should be used to that bullshit and what Mitch Daniels (Bush's cronie) says, but I will NEVER agree with their BS.
It's very frustrating living here. I'm not sleeping until the results are in ...and I have to
work early in the morning.
