"losses"? Who spell checks these things?

marko's picture

so this is a TEST of our ability to regurgitate the projections of pollsters and pundits??

As of the time I voted, its 44% clinton wins both, 39% obama wins NC and loses IN. Now I picked the later but obviously most picked the former...

analysis...the pollsters and pundits think obama will win NC and lose ID.

So 49% of C&L readers failed the TEST!!!

lsantana's picture

Is it just me or are 3 of the choices on that poll repetitive?

Anyone reporting on how many voters have been purged from the voter rolls? Mostly in areas that support Obama?

Breaking News::: (but the MSM isn't reporting it ... wonder why.)

www.NPR.org, May 6, 2008 ·

FBI agents on Tuesday raided the offices of Special Counsel Scott J. Bloch, who oversees protection for federal whistleblowers. The agents seized computers and shut down email service as part of an obstruction of justice probe, NPR has exclusively learned.

FBI agents also searched Bloch's home and a Special Counsel field office in Dallas. A grand jury in Washington issued subpoenas for several OSC employees, including Bloch, according to NPR sources who spoke on condition their names not be used

Problem be, that "losses" is a word, that slips thru spell-checkers. We need a syntax-checker too... that way, it would suggest "loses" :))

Well, "Obama" and "Hillary" are the tip-offs on which this poll swings. Obama gets the studly last name reference. Clinton gets the pussy first name reference. Something objective might read "Sen. Obama" and "Sen. Clinton."

Drives me nuts when people type "loose" instead of lose. Don't see losses very often.

I also agree with another poster that some of the choices are redundant. This is possibly the funniest/saddest poll I have ever seen.

So you all think a poll on teh internets is serious? or a poll that asks this question "The worst possible outcome and Chuck Todd's head explodes trying to explain the delegate counts" is serious?

Here are the results of my poll based on the comments I see so far:
3 posters are pedantic to the point of needing some sort of psychological help and one poster is critical of the poll in a poorly written out critique, ie a typo and poor punctuation.

Folks lighten up. It's the internet, not life.

Uh...not. Hillary wins IN. Obama wins NC.

Duh.

bizona's picture

Johnny, last I checked (right before writing this), that's what 45% of the responders are saying....that Obama wins NC and Clinton wins IN. (You have to add the results of two of the options, which are the same scenario worded differently)

tyree's picture

#36 mamie says , exactly right!!!!!

LibDemKS's picture

You should have had an option for either state being a wash. Even the liberal blogs are starting to get into the horse race mindset on the Dem primaries and caucuses. Proportional representation means that after all the votes are counted, a lot of Timmeh's "decisive wins" in these contests actually work out to a net win of 1 or 2 delegates. In Wyoming, 1 or 2 delegates is "decisive". In NC and IN, not so much.

bizona's picture

#36 Mamie...

So, I'm just wondering......would you be as upset if C&L was supporting Clinton and all the Obama supporters had packed it up and gone elsewhere?

I swear, Clinton and Obama supporters are sounding more and more like little school children who are taking their ball and going home when something doesn't go the way they want it to. Where is the third party when you really need it?

miss_kitty's picture

Mamie @ 36:

Your Poll should tell you that Hillary supporters are no longer reading Crook and Liars, can't say that I blame them, since you've tanked for Obama.

Where's that? I think you're making it up because there has been no yea or nay for either candidate on this site. And since they haven't come out for yours, you assume they're for the other.

As for your assertion that "Hillary supporters are no longer reading Crook and Liars," since you're here, I gotta say you're wrong. And not only are you here, I see all sorts of Hillary supporters say this site is for Obama. Just as many Obama supporters say this site is for Hillary.

So they must be doing 'neutral' right

Mamie @ 36:

I have to rethink my top ten differences between progressives and conservatives.

I said that progressives look at things objectively, while conservatives believe that anything not explicitly in their favor is biased against them. But that pretty much applies to both Clinton's and Obama's increasingly infantile supporters.

Then again, perhaps they're not progressive?

After this election, I'll support certain individual Democrats if I truly believe in them. (I'm working right now on a campaign for a California state legislator I truly admire.) And I'll vote against Republicans in the most responsible way I can. But that's it. No more basic support for Democrats in general. I'll concentrate on electoral reform.

Yeah. Funny how polls are sometimes. Do you think that Obama will get 6 points, while Clinton gets four? Or do you think that Obama will get six points, while Clinton will get 4?

Sometimes the polls are designed with false choices like these to skew the results. There was one a while back concerning gay marriage that asked, "Which do you gay marriage, civil unions or neither?" The idea was to split the gay-rights supporters into two, by leaving off the choice of "either marriage or unions." That way, it would appear that the vast plurality of those questioned were against gay anything.

As for this poll's author, I have no idea what s/he's thinking.

I've always tried respectfully to refer to Sen. Clinton as "Sen. Clinton." But the usage of "Hillary" is widespread, even in her own campaign. Some of it is probably to differentiate her from her husband, and be clear about it. Some of it is probably to personalize her -- after all, it's never a bad thing if voters actually think of you as someone they know on a first-name basis. Some of it is probably just habit.

Given her first name's ubiquitous usage, I'm skeptical the poll means disrespect.

Mister Anderson's picture

The early exit polls on Huffpo are saying that Hillary is leading IN by 7 points and Obama is up 12 in NC.

Basically, we're back to where we started from which is a win for Obama since Hillary has officially ran out of real estate. She can't cut into his base to knock him out, he can't cut into her base to knock him out, and Obama is leading on all of the scorecards and is closing the Superdelegate gap.

Winner: Obama

I think you're really overanalyzing this. It's not a very scientific poll in the first place. There's no representative sample of likely voters here. Hell, get a new IP address and you can vote as often as you'd like!
