Obama basically concedes two upcoming primaries

Obama should get to West Virginia and Kentucky Pronto
Obama should get to West Virginia and Kentucky Pronto
Obama is making a big mistake if he does not spend time in West Virginia and Kentucky. His absence would provide more ammunition to claim that he is an elitist and arrogant. He should get down in the trenches with those white working class white folks.
He needs to make some ground in this territory. Parkersburg, the college towns, coal mining towns, the river area in those river rafting areas (the New River Bridge area), Louisville, Lexington, Berea. Get in there Obama. These are not necessarily Clinton country.
Get into West Virginia and Kentucky. Do not buy that this is Clinton Country.
I have spent a great deal of time in both West Virginia and Kentucky. The Obama team is wrong on this one if they are all ready assuming that both of these states are Clinton Country. These are two states that have sent a lot of young soldiers off to that unnecessary war in Iraq that Hillary voted for. Obama could work this issue in both of these states.
Harvard University economist Martin Feldstein, a member of the committee that charts the American business cycle, said the U.S. economy is ``sliding into a recession.''
I wonder how this came to his attention?
I won't link it because it'd get zapped, but I found an awesome video that conclusively demonstrates that John McCain is in fact Mark Rumsfield from "the 'Burbs"
also really can we stop saying "working class white people"
it's creepy
Kathleen @ 2:
He doesn't want to claim himself the Nominee-Winner now because if he loses to Clinton in those states he's going to look like a complete Moron.
Travis @ 5:
Medias done a terrific job dividing us up into competing tribes, groups, classes, what have you this past 7 years.
Newshoggers: Nice, if true, but it doesn’t make a damn bit of difference either way.
U.S. denies Iraq claims of terror leader’s arrest
Man seized by Iraqi forces is not al-Masri after all, American military says. Oops
Janet @ 8:
Is it any wonder our country is crumbling with this standard of excellence as the norm.
Is This IT ??
Think I'll hit the bars. See ya LA Conf. Drinking has far more import than drivel.
Janet @ 8:
Hey, they might have the right guy. If they do have the right guy, I would think they would want to keep it quiet. For a number of reasons. 1 being to torture him, 2 being to turn him.
But that's just speculation on my part.
♠Bangkok-Bob♠ @ 10:
Okay say hello to folks! Tell them to hang on we'll emerge from our media induced coma in . . . . never mind, just say hello.

I have never knowingly worked with a christian fundementalist...but yesterday i started training an associate that believes that the earth is 7000 years old. I asked her numerous questions about evolution, end times, homosexuality, womens rights etc. and she was right down the line!!!
they are closer than you think!!!
marko @ 14:
Don't ask questions. They usually implode on their own if you leave them alone.
L.A. Confidential @ 15:
Just tell her were only 307 years into this cycle, and will pass into a higher and more civilized frame of reference around the year 4099.
L.A. Confidential @ 15:
Dangit! Stupid puters!
Jimmy Carter goes where the MSM and the so called "progressive" blogosphere will not go. Not even Jon Stewart will touch this topic

A Human Rights Crime
The world must stop standing idle while the people of Gaza are treated with such cruelty
By Jimmy Carter
08/05/08 "The Guardian" -- - -- -- The world is witnessing a terrible human rights crime in Gaza, where a million and a half human beings are being imprisoned with almost no access to the outside world. An entire population is being brutally punished.
Phyllis Schlafly’s honorary degree: a travesty of a mockery of a sham.
******************************************
With all due respect, Ms. -- or should that be Mrs.? -- Schlafly's entire adult life has been a travesty of a mockery of a sham. She's been a long-time vocal opponent of women working outside the home despite the fact that she herself has run for office twice (once for Congress and once for the state legislature of Illinois, both unsuccessfully) in addition to her many speaking engagements as a conservative activist which one can only assume have taken her away from home even if she hasn't been paid for them (and it seems safe to assume that she was). Whether she's able to consciously acknowledge it or not -- and considering the magnitude of her hypocrisy, one is inclined to assume that she's not -- she has pursued a career in her own fashion and followed her own ambitions, something which she has spent her life trying to deny to other women.
liberalHUSSEINmoderation @ 17:
Well then they are going to turn right around and say, "see, I told you, that liberal obama guy is a mean nasty vicious person who hates god, and is out to get us and snuff out our people. Yet, he claims he is moderate and accepting of others beliefs."
You got better things to do guy then play that game.
L.A. Confidential @ 3:
I heard it was all in our heads.
Kathleen @ 19:
Notice the MSM is painting Carter as some weird, warped, deranged freak for suggesting that peace is possible?
Thats what we're up against.
L.A. Confidential @ 21:
They wouldn't be wrong about me LA, when it comes to such blatant stupidity, I am all those things. I hope they all get raptured right the fuck outta my misery.
I am am moderate and accepting of others beliefs...to a point. They are so wrong. How can I NOT call them out on their bullshit?
liberalHUSSEINmoderation @ 24:
I know what your saying. I wish I had an easy tonic. Rather then having to bang our heads against the wall thinking. . . what in the hell does it take to communicate with those people?
OT: Site's working great today. Kudos to the tech people.
Style points for the Woody Allen reference!
Fielding Mellish: I object, your honor! This trial is a travesty. It's a travesty of a mockery of a sham of a mockery of a travesty of two mockeries of a sham.
L.A. Confidential @ 25:
Well...I dunno LA...maybe if I wasn't so hot-headed, sittin them down and point by point, using science and facts to disassemble their misinformed beliefs...and if that doesn't work.
bludgeon them repeatedly until they renounce their beliefs, lol! I'm KIDDING about the bludgeoning! They should beaten about the face and neck with a loaf of stale french bread.
Rusty Shackleford @ 26:
I agree!
Tonight, I shall toast to their mad skills yo! Repeatedly!
liberalHUSSEINmoderation @ 28:
I know it is truly annoying. Religions been around practically forever yet they complain people are making it so they can't have or take part in their religion.
Pretty Ludicrous.
Yeah nice try hackers.
Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming
Whose broad topics and bright exposes, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming
And the hackers' red glare, their bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that C+L was still there.
O say, does that Crooks and Liars Logo yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave
L.A. Confidential @ 30:
They claim they're being persecuted even...buncha damn hypocritical, xtians only when it's convenient.

Concerning Dani Rodriks post about Denmark I think the reason the Danes can do it is because their CEOs don't take 400 times the amount that the average worker who actually produces the product or service, and therefore the wealth, gets. When workers get their fair share of profits they can afford the taxes that are neccassary for the society to run smoothly. When greedy CEO and/or corporate owners skim a much greater share of the profits then they deserve or are in any way morally entilted to and move that money to offshore tax havens then don't expect society to run smoothly at all.
L.A. Confidential @ 31, LOVE the anthem!!
L.A. Confidential @ 23:
Jimmy Carter is one of my heroes. So brave so clear!
So many have been trying to bust up the I-lobbies disproportionate amount of power and influence with little to no results. Former President Jimmy Carter, Bishop Tutu, Art and Peggy Gish, so many people for so long have been pushing the U.S. to deal with this conflict in a more fair and balanced way. Keith Olberman, Chris Matthews, Abrams, all of the rest of the talking heads will not touch this topic. Even after Prof Mearsheimer and Walt lastest attempt to bust down the I lobby wall.
You know the I-lobby wall is solidly in place when there is nothing about the U.S. vs. Rosen investigation/trial in the MSM. Little to nothing in the "progressive" blogosphere.
Firedoglake will not touch the issue.
although Glenn Greenwald touches the issue now and then
