Starbucks/Moonshine Cocktail. Cute.

The extreme and ridiculous vilification of HRC by Obama supporters has turned me from someone who thought very highly of Obama 7, 8 months ago to someone who just loathes him and his supporters today.

Words of Power - the more Joe Biden goes on the attack, the more I like him.

What?! This conflation of Obama and his supporters doesn't make sense. Obama has consistently distanced himself from criticizing and smearing Clinton in anything like the ways and degrees to which she does it to him. In the latest instance, her mention (again) of a Kennedy's assassination, Obama specifically SAID he doesn't blame her for the remark, even though she didn't apologize to him and his family for it (only to the Kennedy family).

If Obama's supporters go too far in villifying Hillary, fine, blame them. But it doesn't make sense to blame Obama himself.

By the way Mike, thanks especially for the link to the "Words of Power" post. Very powerful!

Obama the FIRST Presidential candidate to visit the Crow Nation?

Democrat Barack Obama became an honorary member of an American Indian tribe ... and promised a proactive policy to help tribal people if he wins the White House in November.
Obama, who would be the first black U.S. president, was "adopted" by Hartford and Mary Black Eagle and given a name which means "one who helps all people of this land." ... "I like my new name, Barack Black Eagle," he said. "That is a good name."
Many in the audience wore traditional feather headdresses and some banged drums ahead of Obama's visit, the first by a presidential candidate to the Crow Nation. Reuters, 5-19-08

How truly a pathetic statement on the Democratic Party. We should be visiting ALL Native American Nations (caps correct?), even if it is called pandering by the Rethugs. If ever there were groups of disenfranchized people deserving of our support, it is the remaining relatives of those this country slaughtered in the name of the US!

Uh, we're kind of busy invading a different country and slaughtering their natives right at the moment. But the ones left standing are gonna get some democracy . . maybe.

nothing Barack does will be satisfactory.
rather than take steps, he should be cursed for beginning the journey to healing.
no effort to begin the process of healing should ever be undertaken because we can sit in a fucking corner and complain.

great.

Resettlement into safe zones "reserved" for the Iraqi natives will begin in 5, 4, 3, 2...

"The Obama campaign ... tried to take these words out of context," Clinton campaign chairman Terence R. McAuliffe said on "Fox News Sunday." "She was making a point merely about the time line."

Those damned Obama supporters at WaPo. Who knew?

FEC, media can't handle Obama jackpot

A milestone of sorts was reached earlier this year, when Obama, the Illinois senator whose revolutionary online fundraising has overwhelmed Clinton, filed an electronic fundraising report so large it could not be processed by popular basic spreadsheet applications like Microsoft Excel 2003 and Lotus 1-2-3.
Those programs can’t download data files with more than 65,536 rows or 256 columns.

As a non-Obama supporter, but practicing Democrat, I'll thank Clinton who has also been filing some gargantuan numbers.

"For years, the media has told us that Hillary Clinton is the smartest person in the world," Trotta said, "and that's up for grabs now. And the media's catching on to that, as well. The 'vast right-wing conspiracy' blame has been undermined by her evasions, by her outright lies, if I may say; by her pandering, by her race-baiting--and now we have what some are reading as a suggestion that somebody knock off Os--Osama--um, uh--Obama. Well, both, if we could..."

On Monday, Trotta apologized for what she called a "lame attempt at humor." She and anchor Bill Hemmer were discussing an essay Clinton wrote in the New York Daily News explaining her determination to remain the the Democratic race and dismissing the uproar over her reference to Robert F. Kennedy's assassination as a reason she's staying in the race.

well said! its to bad voters dont hold thier politicians to a better standard but i guess its to be expected when the only thing that matters is makeing history , i see a memmorial day four yrs from today when the next president of the united states stands before the white marble grave stones at arlington and sniffels and sheds a small tear as bush did today , and the next president relates a story about the bravery of billy bob joe and how he died for our freedoms in iraq last week, oh and god bless ameica!

One thing to remember about British 'tories' is that they are of the moral fiber of such people as Craig, Vitter, B. Allen and Haggard.
They all have juicy newsworthy skeletons in their cupboards, its no coincidence that the past couple of years and the GOP party of family values so closely mirrors what happened to the Torys in the UK (95/96) when the said they were PoFV people, boom scandal after scandal erupted.

Well in that case...let me say something just as prejudicial.

The extreme and ridiculous vilification of non mainstream candidates such as Kucinich/Paul/Gravel, by Obama/Clinton supporters has turned me from someone who thought very highly of Obama/Clinton 8,9 months ago to someone who just loathes...

understood. I also wonder why people don't bemoan the media banishment of Edwards from the campaign. but apparently nothing matters as much as the hatred.

Edwards was my initial choice too once it became clear neither Gore nor Clarke were going to enter the fray.

ysbaddaden's picture

The odd thing though was while I was supporting Edwards, I was place in the weird position of defending both Obama's and mccain's runs.

Some people were arguing he wasn't qualified, so I had to point out the only qualifications in Article II of the Constitution was that you be American born or a natural citizen, aged 35 or more which made Obama qualified.

It also qualified mccain, who some folks were saying wasn't qualified because he was born in another country, but of American parents which qualified him as a natural citizen.

Now excuse me, but I got the runs and have to run.

no i hate nobody , however i despise the so called inlightened obama elitests! you know !the ones who bemoan the fact your not thier equals because you misspell words , and run your sentences together and forget the commas the exclaimation points or what have you! its no wonder more lib lurkers stay in the shadows afraid to comment on here for fear that they will be attacked because of thier misspelling or that anyone other then obama supporters are allowed to have an oppinion on who they want for president, your going to lose in november , why? because your just as bad as the elitest pricks allready in washington, im used to your snide remarks and insults but others arent going to take a chance to buck your clique, dont bother thinking youll run me off ,or LA were here !weve allways been here , we,ll allways be here ! clinton 08!

There are some severe misunderstandings in that blog post about British Tories. For instance: "Christopher Hitchens spewed the usual Tory loathing for the United States"
Hitchens is an ex-Trotskyist, and considers himself a disciple of George Orwell. Hardly a Tory in the British sense. If you think he is, look up "George Orwell" and "Trotskyist" on wikipedia.
I get the sense that the old US meaning of Tory has become confused with what is officially called "The Conservative Party" or "The Conservatives". From what I can make out the GOP has more in common with the US tories than the British Conservative Party of the 20th and 21st centuries do.
