Obama slams McCain for private Bush fundraiser

At a speech yesterday in Northern Las Vegas, Barack Obama went after John McCain for throwing a private fundraiser with his good buddy and mentor, George W. Bush. This is the fundraiser, remember, that the McCain team had moved from the Phoenix Convention Center -- when it wasn't selling enough tickets -- to a private location where journalists would be barred from snapping photographs with which to later embarrass John McCain.

"I just had the privilege of visiting with Felicitas Rosel and Francisco Cano at their home here in Las Vegas.

Today, John McCain is having a different kind of meeting. He's holding a fundraiser with George Bush behind closed doors in Arizona. No cameras. No reporters. And we all know why. Senator McCain doesn't want to be seen, hat-in-hand, with the President whose failed policies he promises to continue for another four years."

I can't believe people still believe McCain's "maverick" B.S.

McCain has a lot of dirt on him and whoever the Dem nominee is I'm sure is more than happy to unleash it on him. McCain's chickens are coming home to roost.

Damn it's nice to listen to someone call out Bush/McSame in a strong, articulate, well reasoned voice.

What people are surprised by underhanded rule bending by McCain/Bush? Where have you people been for 8 years?

No journalists, only lobbiests in attendance.

McCain has made major Faux Pas. All his workers have suspicious backrounds, or are lobbiests with major judgment issues. A guy who has defended a dictator? A banker writing fiscal policy? Lieberman. Yeah, some Maverick!

obama is a spineless incompetent. period.

Where are the telecomms and the NSA when you really need them to uncover some terrorist planning?

I'd like to call BS on the creeps Tucker Carlson and Pat Buchanan for saying an anti war candidate has never won during war time. What a crock! They used the Nixon victory as their example. Nixon won because it was the dems in charge of Vietnam, and he wasn't a dem.

Now the war party wants to tell us a candidate for peace cannot win because it's never been done before.

PS I am not "surprised" by underhanded rule bending by the GOP. I've been here, screaming at my TV and calling my congresscritters. I'm glad Bush has to keep in the darkness like a fricking vampire.

Oh someone gets to trot over to the McSame campaign website and collect some Blooger points! WTG, dood.

What picture would embarrass mccain

His wife having to shake him off?

Am I the only one laughing at the thought of Bush being someone's mentor?

What cracks me up is the thought that ANY 'con presidential candidate actually needs to have "fundraisers."

I say that because the republican party is really the official union for multi-national corporations and big oil. Any money needed--somehow--quietly snakes its way into where it's needed.

I wish somebody could confirm that republican fundraisers are just for public show and that the real money transactions take place behind closed doors anyway.

Senator Obama calls them like he sees them but with class. I like that.

McCain is like a windsock, he just twirls and twists depending on the direction of the wind at the moment. He wanted to be seen with bush before he wanted to be seen without him.

Once you get McCain off the subject of the war, he has nothing. The only thing he can do is keep saying he will win the war and that the boogie man is going to get us so we should be afraid and turn to him for our safety. He brags about his experience but what exactly is his experience?

Mishiba@6 Unless you can give a concrete example of your obvious "bitterness", you're the "spineless incompetent". Obama will give grandpa McShit a brain aneurysm during their debates in the fall.

Obama=one of the best public speakers in US history.
McDepends=only Dubya is a worse speaker....ever.

"obama is a spineless incompetent. period."

so true! if we elect him, hell, he might even undo all the great things george "competent" w. bush and the rest of you republican lot have done for the country the last eight years. that would be a true tragedy.

Ever tried to watch one of McCain's speeches. He has a sing-song way of reading the teleprompter that will put you to sleep in a heartbeat.

The only possible problem I can see regarding the debates is McCain going for the old guy sympathy factor. Of course there is the possibility that he will try to be the cool twenty-three ski-doo, kind of guy and make himself look rather foolish. One thing I would bet on, McCain will come close to, it not actually having, a melt down.

Great idea. It's important to establish a strong foothold in the Western area, as Nevada and New Mexico, maybe even Colorado, could be up for grabs in November.

By the way, here's my new vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyd8KGCr_mI

Okay, that's your opinion. Wanna give your opinion on the other candidates?

George Bush plus beer plus open flames.

Be still my heart.

McCain is just a placeholder for power. The neocons will use him as a prop, steal the election, and keep him in front of the teleprompter while they continue their theft of the US Treasury (whatever's left) and game the system even more to line their pockets.

They really don't give a rip about Rip Van Winkle. And I think he knows it. That's why he'll say anything they (the lobbyists and other money people) tell him to.

I guess this means that Mr. Obama will NEVER meet with donors in private?

GiveMeConvenience@22
That not the issue and you know it. Obama exposed the fact that McYellow teeth "maverick" is will to let Bush "whore" for him in private, taking his money while disowning him in public. YOU know how that works. LOL.

It's not about meeting donors in public, dumb-dumb, it's about McBush being so completely ashamed to be seen with his mentor, the King of the dumb-dumbs.

I saw that too. Their arguement holds little water as we're in the middle of a bloody occupation, not a war. We abandoned our "war" long ago.

Besides, I would like to ask the press corp if they'll have John McCain explain the rhetoric of his "never surrender Iraq to Al Qaeda"? Al Qaeda is a terrorist organization. That's about as much nonsense as the possibility of the Federal Government surrendering to the KKK during the 1960s.

Days Since Barack Obama has visited Iraq: 871

Go visit Iraq, Mr. Obama. Meet with General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker.

Forget about meeting one-one-one with Ahmadinejad without preconditions for a moment and do the right thing and meet with our military leaders first.

You are correct Lollimom, these fund raisers are just for show, it gives MSM reason to spend 18 hours a day on thier topics, what they choose to fram debate and all the while ignoring war crimes and fake war on terror and drugs.

Dennis@30
Absolute Republican talking point....period. You are a fucking troll Dennis. Don't ever try to hide it.

Dennis@30
CNN's Micheal Ware (WHO HAS LIVED IN IRAQ THE LAST FOUR YEARS) was asked that very same question just yesterday should Obama go to Iraq to get a proper accessment, said it would only be another staged show(like the McWar, Graham, shopping spree last year). Ware said things would be clear and safe during the visit only to revert back once Obama left. Go back to Hannity Dennis.

He's no Commander-In-Chief, Left². He's a speaker. And lately, not such good one at that. By November he will have more well-known gaffes than the current Commander-In-Chief's 8 year term. They'll be calling him, Bush 2.0.

That's it? That's Obama's shot of the day??

"...No cameras. No reporters. And we all know why."

That's not going to get it done, Senator.

Pathetic.

I'd like to see Obama start relentlessly attack McShame for his lame-ass blocks of the Webb GI Bill. You've got to believe there are REPUBLICAN enlisted men and women, fighting in both Afghanistan and Iraq right now, who are looking at one another and saying, "McCain said what?"

Beat him with it repeatedly Barack.

Do not stop talking about it until he is forced to change (yet again) and then support what was already obvious. You know, being the maverick, quintessential leader that he is and all.

I figure at this point they would have to pay some of the 28% that approve of Bush to attend. That thought did cross my mind that this was for show.

He speaks the truth, and McPain will be getting in after Clinton rigs it to get the nomination and no one votes for her out of disgust.

Bush is practically retarded as a public speaker. Obama is a brilliant speaker. Bush is perhaps the worst leader to ever grace the Oval Office. Obama? Well, we'll have to see, won't we?

Troll.

"Go visit Iraq, Mr. Obama. Meet with General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker"

Why in the world would he meet with those two tools of the Bushco administration? They have proven themselves to be lying political sockpuppets. Man, the troops are gonna love having a real commander in chief. One that can even think and speak in complete sentences.

No I understand just fine. Mr. Obama is making a snarky reference to the craptacular reputation of W. juxtaposed with Mr. Third term.

Perhaps you fail to see my point - that presidential candidates meet with lots of people, all the time; people that perhaps, on the surface appearance of things, contradict the carefully crafted image they want to portray to the electorate. If you were the candidate you would want to meet those types in private, would you not?

While you're busy celebrating the hoped for end of a national nightmare ask yourself: Who is Mr. Obama meeting in private forums?

obama is a clueless, brainless incompetent; how dare he attack mccain?

If I were BaracK, I would stay as far away from Iraq as possible. What better than to lure him over ther position a sniper somewhere and blame it on insurgents. Barack is NOT stupid, that invite is a SETUP!!!!!

Myshiba @ 48:

It takes one to know one doesn't it. You should be ashamed of yourself. I guess you're a Bush licker too aren't you.

I am not a Bush supporter and anyone who as ever read anything I've ever written knows that. And I would support McCain even less as he is even more dangerous.

But IIRC, Senator Obama was also caught with his hand in the private cookie jar in San Francisco just prior to the Pennsylvania primary. It was at this no-press, private affair where he made his "better people clinging to guns and God" statement that got him in such deep doo-doo.

So unless Senator Obama has something better to call bs on, he ought to be careful about what he says.

Gee this is almost as bad as the fundraiser Obama had at Antoin Rezko's house on June 30, 2003. Oops I forgot we aren't supposed to talk about Obama's corrupt cronies who helped him get into the senate.

No, POdVet, its not even close! Another over inflated sense of self importance idiot trying to impress himself. Go follow Dennis.

And leslie, go change your rag. Its affecting your two and a half brains cells.

I notice all you can do is insult people chicano2nd, could that be because FACTS bear proof that Obamessiah is nothing but the typical corrupt Chicago politician? Obama has garnered his delegate lead on caucus states several of which are under investigation for election fraud BTW. His vote count is artificailly inflated from equivalent totals from those caucus states. In mean numbers Clinton has better than a 2-1 vote per delegate edge over Obama.
And even if you choose to ignore all the other facts about him, the FACT that the Obama campaign has urged Republicans and Independents to break the law and vote against Hillary by voting for Obama in closed primaries is more than enough reason that he should be kicked out of the Democratic party and censured in the Senate.

I love it. We can now call McCain The Straight-Talk-Behind-Closed-Doors Express.

chicano2nd @ 55:

And leslie, go change your rag. Its affecting your two and a half brains cells.

Nice, chicano2nd.

I'm tempted to say you make a fine representative for the Obama campaign, but that wouldn't be fair to Obama. He usually apologizes after saying something misogynistic like that.

leslie @51 wrote was at this no-press, private affair where he made his “better people clinging to guns and God” statement that got him in such deep doo-doo.

I didn't get the quote right.

It should have read "bitter people . . ."

Is that better, chicano2nd?
