I'm pretty sure this was a DARPA project to enable Bush to sign the massive numbers of pardons he needs to get through before November.

Pardons? This So-called President will need a Sharpie to whip out the pardons left and right. And what do we, the American people have to show for it? A broken economy, broken military, thousands of dead soldiers, hundreds of thousands dead Iraqi's, our image destroyed, our childrens future, do I need to say anything else? Crap!

Yep, it's time for bidness indeed. Those dudes gave me a big laugh. I haven't been around much at C&L today (work duties, alas) ... it's hard keeping up with you guys tonight !
As a friend P2B I feel I should mention that you're getting a little expansive around the posting handle. I am reminded of that line by P.G Wodehouse: "Gosh Jeeves, there's some pretty raw work done around the baptismal font from time to time, is there not." I must speak to P2B's mom about this.

I heard that Bush is going to team up with 50 Cent and produce a underground STOP SNITCHIN! dvd. I heard he's going to raise the terror alert on Scott's ass!

Methinks a swan who prefers loons, and I've never ground-sluiced a bird in my life, though I find them quite tasty...yes, she's definitely too nice for the likes of us, but methinks she enjoys a bit of danger and flies low at times...
What's Scotty the Doughboy's angle, anyway? Is he just trying to stay out of jail? Or is he hell-bent on winding up there?
I feel compelled to buy the book. I've got many of the other's from this fiasco.
Stand by then Ron. You're likely to have a shelf full of self-serving reading this summer. Probably just as well. Who can afford the gas for a summer vacation.

How many movies have you seen about Nixon's crimes. I think we all should get the book. We know that he won't be open about everything but we can draw our own conclusions by putting 2+2 together.

Too late bitches.
The "that's not the Scott I knew" comment came up repeatedly today--Perino used it, too, as did Ari Fleischer when he was interviewed about why Doughboy wrote it on--wait for it--the Katie Couric show.
I love the fact that Katie basically admits to wanting to maintain access to the halls of power (as mentioned on the earlier thread), then she has Fleischer on and lets him hack away at McClellan with the softballs she pitches. At one point she asked him, "With all due respect, we've been hearing that statement, 'that's not the Scott we knew,' from a lot of people today. Did you get together and organize this?"

fair weather trolls, they only do it when they are paid to do it.
so the 9pm watershed is based on the US timezones, no unpaid TLA trolling past 5pm pacific timezone.
UK and US comedy Music hall Radio and TV has shared a lot of ideas and themes and to and froing, going back since WW2.
But the UK only had four terrestrial TV channels up into the 90s, then (SKY) satellite arrived, then cable TV in metro areas.
So on some nostalgia channel there prob is the old TV series, but not mainstream in the UK.
And the UK main channels only were allowed a 25% max import in the old days, so we only got the big modern American shows and they came bundled with film packages to the networks.
Now that I live in the US, my American wife would have a fit if I tried to watch old TV on HER TV, CIS L&O dominates etc yuck lol.

Just posted this on the Dunkin Nonuts consumer feedback form: Just a line to let you know the consequences of your laughable withdrawal of the Rachel Rae add. Your company is now being commonly referred to on the internet as Dunkin Nonuts. There are numerous jokes about your marketing department such as "the effects of trans-fatheads on corporate profits". I think this will be a case study in how not to deal with this sort of issue. Thanks for the laughs.
Credit to wokman for the corporate name change. The internet is such fun.

Hi Ron, 2B and everyone else
At Mile 300 of the Alaska Highway here in northeastern BC gas is now $5.34 for a US Gallon, diesel is $5.76 of course this is in Canadian funds.
Now next thing, yeah the former press secretary is in it for the money. But don't you guys think the man has finally had his conscience get the better of him and he has decided to do the honourable thing and say something?

Did anyone see Jessica Yellin on Anderson Cooper? She said that at the time leading up to the war in Iraq, her corporate media bosses were pushing for their reporters to put out positive stories about the war and the Bush Administration.
The story from McClellan's book is not that Bush & Company are crooked (because most of us already knew this), it's the story of the media not doing its job. We knew this too, but hopefully this means the media will have show some more responsibility from here on out.
I want to know- the rules commitee/superdelegates can not influence VP picks can they? I'm very wary of Wes Clark right now. Beware of Hillary's side arm soldier. This whole Wasp nest is getting shook up pretty good right now, I worry they are going to get sting happy.
No military men for VP!
Beware- Trojan Horses.
Obama doesn't need them their anyway; the economy is the issue that will decide this election. Obama needs a Vice President who has been by his side since the beginning. Someone he can trust, most importantly; as well, someone who reflects his values, ethics, morals, and ideals. A VP who protects the people's interest and who doesn't profit off of corporate interests; Obama needs to find the anti-Cheney.
If he is worried about conservative, military minded and/or foreign policy based voters then he could promise and "leak" Hagel and Richardson SecDefense and SecState, respectively. Send that dynamic duo on a foreign policy based campaign tour.

if he was an honorable man and american, before stepping down as press sec, he had stood up and daring a lifetime in prison had said "for the past 4 years, everything i have said is a lie" then maybe i could buy the conscience bit
but for both he and powell, there is a special place in hell...instead of standing on principles, they held their tongues and watched as a madman sent thousands to their deaths to kill thousands more
stood by and watched as the liberties of american and the constitution of the united states was trampled on
scottie aint no dummy....he knows the mood of the country, and he knows what sells
this is just another story of a wingnut trying to get his

Obama/Sebelius '08!
i like sebelius...but i like her better as the gov in mo, fighting the good fight against the wingnuts of the heartland..and i believe that if she stays gov, her chances of being the first female president are much better
im telling you....you want a slam dunk pairing? then its obama/webb
webb will make mince meat out of mccain....and lets see mccain try that, "he never put the uniform on" stuff with webb
i like the hagel as sec of defense...that would be cool
question is, would he sit in a cabinet of a president that he basically disagrees with every policy save what to do in iraq and the mideast? if he can...then great
and no matter what...richardson must be sec of state...kerry is apparently vying for the post....but it must be richardson...and he must keep the goatee
It would be a shame if electronic copies of the book got passed around the blogosphere. Even though everyone would get to hear this coal mine canary's song, and it will be a very important song make no mistake; at least he wouldnt get make money off of it. Remember that the internet is the great equalizer.
Careful not to undervalue what this book means though. Yes, it is nothing that Liberals did not already know, but it is a clear confirmation from a NeoCon on the inside that the Liberals were just that- correct all along. Since the beginning. There is no more rearranging of deck chairs. The rats are bailing and this ship is finally sinking. Don't get me wrong however, McClellen is, and always will be, a rat; though he might be swimming, he can still bite if we aren't careful.
Sebelius is the Governor of Kansas, and she can't serve past 2010 anyway.
Webb(aside from my military VP anxiety) is not a good choice for VP for a few reasons. The chief one though, is that we are already losing one great Senator to the Presidency, which is outstanding, but it is at a time when we need to add to our Senate numbers. There was a question about having one Senator atop the ticket at the begining of both primaries, we certainly don't need to have two. Dems must keep all the strong arms they can in the House and Senate, that means you too Hill. There is alot of work to be done, and that is where the "fighters" need to be. Biden, Clinton, Dodd, Feingold, Webb we need everyone, and then some, in the next Congress.
With the exception of Richardson, by far the most experienced and qualified person to be President, no less Vice President, is Kathleen Sebelius. With her resume of State Representitive; an Insurance Commish who fought and won against the insurance companies; and as a two term, true blue Dem Gov. in a redder than red middle American state who recently stood up for voters and vetoed the Voter ID bill; you can see exactly what kind of success she brings.

Carlsbad, CA -- Tonight at the "All Things Digital" conference sponsored by the Wall Street Journal. Rupert Murdoch -- Chairman of News Corp, new WSJ owner, and longtime torchbearer for conservative politics -- said this about Barack Obama: "He is a rock star. I love what he is saying about education. I think he will win and I am anxious to meet him."
About the presumptive Republican nominee, Murdoch said, "McCain is a friend of mine. But I think he's got a lot of problems. He has been in Congress a long time, and you have to make a lot of compromises. So what's he really stand for?... I think he has a lot of problems."
More on Murdoch's speech from Silicon Alley Insider.

Toppling Bush was a huge mistake, he was not a threat as we now know, and Iraq is now broken. Americans were too easily whipped into a frenzy by damned manipulative zionists in Washington with waaay too much influence over a gullible whitehouse. Dear God please may this never happen again.
Quote of the Day: Bloomberg on The Tragic Lag Between What We Know and What We Do - http://www.treehugger.com/files/2008/05/bloomberg-on-climate-change.php
"There is a tragic lag between what we know and what we do. For example, in the 1950s, the head of the American Cancer Society and other respected scientists were already linking smoking and cancer.
And as early as the 1970s, researchers predicted that increased greenhouse gas production was accelerating global warming, with the potentially catastrophic consequences that are playing out now, all over the world. Yet policy makers failed to heed these warnings.
Why? Far too often, it’s because of what I call ‘political science’ – the willingness to disregard or suppress scientific findings when they don’t conform to a pre-determined political agenda."
What percentage of Americans believe its possible to mitigate the impacts of global warming? - http://www.treehugger.com/files/2008/05/can-humans-mitigate-climate-chan...
The answer will happily shock even the worst pessimists....THE DEBATE IS OVER...ITS BEEN OVER...Time for America to join the 21st Century...
The World Is No Longer Flat - http://www.treehugger.com/files/2008/05/shipping-costs-making-the-world-...
Tom Friedman wrote "The World is Flat", suggesting that globalization had leveled the playing field between industrial and emerging countries. Jeff Rubin of CIBC World Markets suggests that this is perhaps changing because of the cost of fuel. The cost of shipping a 40 foot container from Shanghai to the east coast of North America has gone from $3,000 in 2000 to $8,000 because of the cost of fuel, and for many products, the Asian cost advantage has virtually disappeared.
“In a world of triple-digit oil prices, distance costs money,” write Jeff Rubin of CIBC World Markets. “And while trade liberalization and technology may have flattened the world, rising transport prices will once again make it rounder.”
On your Markey, Rep. Ed Markey unveils ambitious new climate legislation - http://gristmill.grist.org/story/2008/5/28/144819/588
"It's been a free ride for polluters," said Markey, in a speech delivered at the Center for American Progress. "For those of us who want a safe climate, the iCAP bill I'm introducing is the market correction we've been waiting for."
But if Congress does move this legislation, said Markey, "historians will look back on the beginning of this new millennium and say that it was an era of technological development that in the course of a generation changed the course of the planet."

Fuel protests rage as global solution urged - http://www.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idUSL2842178620080528
The pain of soaring oil prices provoked new protests in Europe on Wednesday, and Britain called for "global solutions" to the energy crisis. Bulgarian truck drivers rallied, following the lead of British and French truckers and French fishermen in a wave of demonstrations and blockades by groups which say fuel costs threaten their livelihoods.

If the MSM talking heads learned any lessons in their "complicity" in the run up to the invasion of Iraq, you would think that you would see more guest who have a differing view on Iran on their programs....LIKE FLYNT LEVERETT AT THE NEW AMERICA FOUNDATION, OR PROFESSOR JUAN COLE, OR SCOTT RITTER. Anyone witnessing any of these folks on Katie Couric, Brian Williams or Chris Matthews programs? Hell no.
Because now all we are hearing about is election election election.
Anyone see Professor Norman Finkelstein on any of their programs. Finkelstein an outspoken advocate of fair and balanced U.S. policies in regard to the Israeli Palestinian conflict was arrested and banned from going into Israel for 10 years. Did Katie Couric have him on her program?
Glenn Greenwald over at Salon has written about this issue. Anyone else seeing anything in the MSM about this. Hey Matthews will your producers allow Norman Finkelstein on your program (hello Dan Abrams are ever going to allow another perspective on)

Israel imposes a 10-year ban on American critic of Israeli policies
(updated below - Update II - Update III - Update IV)
On Friday, Israeli security forces, Shin Bet, detained Norman Finkelstein when he tried to enter Israel, kept him in an airport holding cell for 24 hours, ordered him deported from the country, and then imposed a 10-year ban on his entry. Finkelstein, the son of a Holocaust survivor, is a Jewish-American author and academic who has frequently criticized the Israeli Government and provoked extreme animosity among right-wing factions in the U.S. He had flown to Israel 15 times previously without incident and was never charged with, let alone convicted of, any crime.

Fleischer: "Oh, no."

Obama/Sebelius '08!

if he was an honorable man and american, before stepping down as press sec, he had stood up and daring a lifetime in prison had said "for the past 4 years, everything i have said is a lie" then maybe i could buy the conscience bit
but for both he and powell, there is a special place in hell...instead of standing on principles, they held their tongues and watched as a madman sent thousands to their deaths to kill thousands more
stood by and watched as the liberties of american and the constitution of the united states was trampled on

webb will make mince meat out of mccain....and lets see mccain try that, "he never put the uniform on" stuff with webb
i like the hagel as sec of defense...that would be cool
question is, would he sit in a cabinet of a president that he basically disagrees with every policy save what to do in iraq and the mideast? if he can...then great
and no matter what...richardson must be sec of state...kerry is apparently vying for the post....but it must be richardson...and he must keep the goatee
Great stuff, Nicole. I've been watching this series lately on Netflix DVDs.
I love that chunky funky rhythm work Bret does on that song, reminds me a little bit of Help On The Way, by the Grateful Dead.

Rupert Murdoch Says Obama Will Win
Posted May 29, 2008 | 01:20 AM (EST)

On May 29, 1917, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, American 35th president , was born. Following his death on Nov. 22, 1963, his obituary appeared in The Times.

The pain of soaring oil prices provoked new protests in Europe on Wednesday, and Britain called for "global solutions" to the energy crisis.
