I was thinking about this last night. Could we make a citizen's arrest on Bush, Cheney, et al.???
From Wikipedia....
United States
Each state with the exception of North Carolina permits citizen arrests if the commission of felony is witnessed by the arresting citizen, or when a citizen is asked to assist in the apprehension of a suspect by police. The application of state laws varies widely with respect to misdemeanors, breaches of the peace, and felonies not witnessed by the arresting party. American citizens do not carry the authority or enjoy the legal protections of police, and are held to the principle of strict liability before the courts of civil- and criminal law including but not limited to any infringement of another's rights.[10]
Though North Carolina General Statutes have no provision for citizen's arrests, detention by private persons is permitted and apply to both civilians and police officers outside their jurisdiction.[11]
Detention, being different from an arrest in the fact that a detainee may not be transported without consent, is permitted where probable cause exists that one has committed a felony, breach of peace, physical injury to another person, or theft or destruction of property

That post about Karl Rove is sickening, like everything else about him.
The utter failure of conservatism.
Ask not what your Country (Bush-Obama-McCain-Clinton-Etc) can do for you,
but what you can do for yourself.
Marko,
I was thinking about this last night. Could we make a citizen’s arrest on Bush, Cheney, et al.???
You'll have to get past this.

The clip of Mary Landau was saddening, but I would like to see some pictures of GW/KKKRove's photo-op to juxtapose the two. I'd lie some proof that GW had dump trucks, cranes and others working, only to be pulled.
It would be worthwhile subpeonaing the workers to see if they were pulled and by who! Would go toward the law suit we as citizens should wage against GW if Congress won't impeach. I think a civil suit, for 8 trillion, would cover it. the "winnings" could go to paying back the treasury debt GW garnered in our name.
PRICELESS!

That would definitely do little "crowd control"! Somehow I don't see GW's "private security detail", aka Blackwater, refraining from using it on "unruly" crowds.
ouchies...

I just read that type of stuff and I sit here and ask myself, How much shit can a decent person who is Republican hear about like that and continue to dredge on? I mean, what does it take for you to finally get it? How much garbage, bile, sewage can you swallow?
I would dare say that most people who vote Republican are decent people on some level. Feel free to disagree with me, I guess.
We've had basically eight years of this stuff... and I can't get over how the laugh track hasn't kicked in yet.
Have you seen the smear on Obama from ABC's Nightline?
John @ 15:
Some liberal media we have eh?
RE: the DoD initiative on contracting: You may be interested to know that they're also considering privatizing the actual contracting duties as well. So we'll have contractors carrying out contracting for the Federal government on contracts scoped by contractors that are ultimately supervised by contractors. No opportunity for waste, fraud and abuse there. The epitome of republican view of the common good. As long as you consider putting public cash in the pocket of a fellow rethug the common good.
My first reaction to the piece was, wtf is this shit?
I pray that if BHO is elected president that reinstate the fairness docrine and end media consolodation.
I find myself concerned that C&L linked here to http://www.armchairsubversive.org/. I think a case can be made for the idea that child abuse is linked to patriarchal politics -- but this site not only doesn't make that case, it features in its graphics Republicans who are simply gay and outed -- advancing the "blood libel," as I call it, that links pedophilia to same-sex sex.
This is tricky territory, folks, and if we simply go in looking for anything that embarrasses members of a certain political party, we are hardly doing good political work.
Yes, "values voting" is a hypocritical political trick. But if we want to talk to the people who "values vote," well, maybe those are not the ones that are going to get that patriarchy leads to abuse of children. And in any case the most profound violations of Christianity that our current leaders propagate are treating as Christian the mistreatment and neglect of of prisoners, children, the hungry, and the poor. These are the acts that Jesus explicitly said you go to Hell for -- Matthew 25.
sorry, I'm jamming a lot in. But I don't think anyone accomplishes much -- definitely not in the long run -- by just throwing random buckets of excrement at Republicans. We are in a life or death struggle for our planet and our species, and we will have many more layers of tyranny and oppression to get through before we ensure our survival. We also have to build a lot of credibility with a lot of folks who don't believe us now.
