Enthusiastically proclaiming you would want someone as unpopular as Dick Cheney serving in your administration? How mavericky!

Politico:

Asked whether he’d be interested in Cheney had the vice president not already have served under Bush for two terms, McCain said: “I don’t know if I would want him as vice president. He and I have the same strengths. But to serve in other capacities? Hell, yeah.”

You almost have to feel bad for McCain and the fine line he has to tread. On the one hand he has to distance himself from the miserable failure that is the Bush years; on the other hand he has to reassure the dead-enders (aka the GOP base) that he really does consider Bush/Cheney a fantastic success. It's no wonder why, then, that McCain will find himself praising the Bushies one minute, and running away as quickly as possible the other.

At least it will make for some fun campaign moments.

No we don't. Not even almost. This guy's got it made -- access to immeasurable riches, a sycophantic and fawning media, constant references to his wonderful service even by his opponent. Nothing to feel sorry for. His woes are his own fault. He contemplated ditching his disastrous party in 2001. He chose to pander to them instead. He made his water bed. Let him sink in it.

On the one hand he has to distance himself from the miserable failure that is the Bush years; on the other hand he has to reassure the dead-enders

Dead enders. Awesome phrase! Obama should pick it up. John McCain wants to continue driving down a dead end! All Republicans want to drive down a dead end! It doesn't matter how many road signs there are leading up to it. They still think they can go through it. Turn around folks. Let's get back on the road.

Okay, that's it -- McCain has just revealed that he's PLANNING to take a hard dive this November. Clearly, he doesn't want to be president. Excuse me? Did John McCain just admit that he is SIMILAR to DICK CHENEY? I can already HEAR the Youtube movies being cranked out.

Poor old John McCain. I've always thought he was actually one of the better Republicans. I was sorry that he got smeared by Bush, and didn't get the nomination in 2000. He was a much better candidate than Bush. But this is REALLY sad. This is the second time in a decade that McCain has taken it in the a$$ from Bush. He got smeared directly by Bush in 2000, and screwed out of the nomination he deserved, and now the second time around he's getting screwed by Bush again, by getting all of Bush's mistakes hung around his neck. It's like the poor guy is having to clean up the mess for a wild party that he was refused entry to in the first place. Very sad.

I fear Cheney will never go away. Evil like his never dies. Honestly, if I was a religious person, he would be Satan.

[Deleted. Off topic, blog whoring and spam-Sitemonitor]

And McSame said he's going to fight the "war on evil"! I guess he'll be fighting cheney! What an idiot. If the republicans have their way, they'll be devices mounted everywhere with cameras that will shoot out a ticket every time someone says a bad word or anything negative about the government (as in Demolition man).

Would McCain want Cheney in his cabinet?: “Hell, yeah”

Cheney is going for the McCain's drawers...trying to brown-nose his way out of the CRAP he put AMERICA in.

McCain is going to BILK CHENEY for MILLIONS of DOLLARS in the process to save his ASS. This is called Dirty POLITICS.

CD @ 25:

How on earth can McCain stand to shake hands with a guy who got four deferments?

More important, how can he stand to shake hands and embrace the evil twins who trashed his family? If he wont defend his family, how can he defend our country?

insane mccain is just a political whore who would f**k ANYBODY to be president.

Do we really want a person of such low moral character to be our president? (and I wont even mention how he left his seriously injured first wife for the current one who is swimming in cash. he really IS a whore!!)

How about ambassador to hell?? Bwaahaahaaa

Keep on diggin' Grandpaw. And he could tap into Bush as assistant-decider-veto-guy.

I guess that means McCain opposes impeaching Cheney. I was afraid that was the case.

WOW, could McSame be that out of touch with the thoughts and feelings of Americans? It seems like every day he is saying something to prove that he has no idea. really. It is starting to look like he might not sincerely want to be elected president when you consider how many land mines he has placed in his own path to that office. Too many to even count.

How about Ambassador to Kazakhstan?

How about changing bed sheets at Guantonamo?

Unfortunately, McSame can fool 28% of the people all of the time.

Wow! Does McCain know how to reassure the electorate, or what?!!!! We can be confident that is McCain is electected and brings on Cheney, that from Day!, Cheney will be running the show. Talk about experience! Talk about know-how! What's not to like?!? And with Joeseph Lieberquisling fullfilling to role of Mr.McCain's personal Rasputin, the sky's the limit!

A wise and savy move, Senator McCain!

Of course I'm still disappointed that Cheney didn't throw his hat into the ring. He and Lord Voldemort would have made for a GOP Dream Team:

Cheney/Voldemort '08!

I had the perfect campaign slogan for them, too:

Dont' change dicks in the middle of a rape!
Vote Cheney/Voldermort in 2008!

Kinda catchy, says it all.

Okay, that's it -- McCain has just revealed that he's PLANNING to take a hard dive this November. Clearly, he doesn't want to be president. Even if you were senile, you wouldn't invoke the name of the least popular politician in America like this. For whatever reason, McCain is obviously the GOP stooge this year. He's a Bob Dole walking. It's over.

I sometimes wonder if he's even into it these days, or he's found himself where he is, and he's going through the motions. (Shades of Frederick of Hollywood-- what the fuck am I doing here-- snore?)

Maybe the plan is like Putin and Medvedev. Who's really running the show? Who has been running the show all along? Who will be...

Hell probably has more to do with it than McCain would like it to.

Holla for Bush!

Sounds like a great idea LOL. He would also be great for Secretary of Defense.

I see two little prickls, with two little pricks. It must be that having a little penis makes you want to ride herd on everyone else. They feel the need to get back at people for the jokes they made about them in gym class after showers, " Hey chin-less, what is that? It looks kind of like a penis only much smaller".-CEO

Come on C&L, let's be a little more fair in our reporting of this. This "endorsement"
of cheney by mcshame occurred in 2006, and if one is really interested in all the story, click on "Politico" in the lead-in and read. I dislike Mcshame/cheney as much
as anyone, but using "old" partial statement are not gaining us anything.

I'll second that! Everybody's welcome to make their own conclusions,
but let us all do that from the same set of facts.

Jumping ahead two years, to today:

WASHINGTON, June 11 (UPI) -- Presumptive presidential
candidate John McCain doesn't want unpopular U.S. Vice President
Dick Cheney associated with his campaign efforts, sources say.
The Washington political news Web site Politico.com reported
Wednesday that its sources say even though Cheney could help McCain
shore up what is proving to be his weakest GOP constituency --
hardcore Bush administration supporters -- he doesn't want his
assistance because of Cheney's high levels of unpopularity.
"I don't think the McCain people want Cheney anywhere near
him," a former Cheney aide told Politico.com.

E Pleb Neesta's picture

Oh Yeah!
He makes Bush look like The Beatles, popularity wise.

Trumpet this everywhere, from the highest mountain top to the deepest valley.
No one should be unaware of this.
Add Cheney's assets: avoidance of military service, relationships to Halliburton and other big oil, with graphs of profits since day one of the exercising of the Authorization to Use Force, which is NOT a war. [No war --> NO wartime powers. Why have they been granted to the "ezecitive" branch?]
His extra legal intel organization, his relationship to, and responsibility for, the Plame affair. Outing an active CIA is defined as treason. Treason has a relatively narrow definition, so many accusations of treason, aren't. High Crimes and Misdemeanors are grounds for impeachment, not necessarily treason. But I would imagine that all treasonous actions would be considered HC&M (common law grant of trademark(tm) to the Bush Admin).
Spam his absurd "I'm not executive branch [all the time]" statement far and wide. If this guy's in the executive branch or exercises any executive powers (or immunities), and in the legislative branch and exercised any powers (or immunities) not specified in the Constitution [eg tie breaking votes... My psychic powers tell me his tie breakers will most often go to the Republic side], then he should be covered by the rules of BOTH branches, not NEITHER, as he has been conducting himself.

All 100% vetted and reliable information. Nothing speculative, interpretive, exaggerated or spun (actually this should always be the case). Give "them" NOTHING to point to as inaccurate. Links to reliable web sites (especially .gov sites) and articles, references to print (how 1900s) newspapers, magazines or books. First hand stuff, not "he said" or "it's been reported", etc. like Jon Stewart's and Keith Olbermann's responses to Bush's over the top, unequivocal lie "We were never 'stay the course'." Film clip sequences showing him saying it many, many times. Stewart's all to often"he said, he said" paired clips. Cheney's "Iraq would be a quagmire" along side his "greeted as liberators" verbal diarrhea. Contradictions, reversals, flip-flops. If something equivalent to JS/KO's "stay the course" refutation was seen on national TV during prime time (or swing state leading local stations during prime time) it would stick in the minds of the viewers. If we could be blessed with something like Bush's "as long as I'm the dictator" clip, *every* ad could end with that clip. We need to use tried and true advertising (and Republic party) techniques except that we always tell the undistorted, unspun truth. "Stay the course", "Stay the course", "Stay the course", "Stay the course", "Stay the course"... "I'm the dictator", "I'm the dictator", "I'm the dictator", "I'm the dictator." Using the truth is not a dirty trick. Rethugs graciously give us "truth we can use."

Their propaganda machine can take a typo and use it to discredit the whole article or commercial, so we must needs be careful.
