Facing South: Gulf Coast nonprofit groups were left out as FEMA gave away $85 million in Katrina supplies.
Fire Dog Lake: If there is a President Obama come next Jan. 20, normal folks better brace for what the right-wing crazies have in mind.
Buck Naked Politics: More BUSCO foreign policy failures: Key setbacks in Iraq for both Bush and McSame.
The Pump Handle: Why the right wing attacks science
A city drowns while a president plays politics. Will the real John McCain please stand up? Will the real threat to academe please stand down? Say hello to Bloomsday and farewell to Eliot Asinof, all this in The Opinion Mill's Sunday Bookchat
HOLY CRAP: Rapture ready evangelicals impersonating Army officers...Mix of politics, religion is a recipe for disaster...G-Dub fired Rove at church...Abstinence only assh*le...Who will save Hillary's soul?...Bobby Jindal isn't the only guy doing exorcisms...Partisan Pastor claims right to violate Federal tax law...Newly elected president of the Southern Baptist Convention has a credibility problem...Yep, that's what Jesus would do...The F-Word

Ever notice how hard the MSM has been working and continues to be working to turn everything they do into Sunday paper "Parade" Magazine" level schlock?
I found this today!!
Apparently unnamed Repug Senators have been stopping Judiciary Committee hearings on a technicality.
Democracy in action!!!
On religion, headline...."God promotes genocide and aggressive warfare in Bible" also "Everyone must get Stoned" if you follow the
letter of the law in the Old Testament"
While i think it is possible some people on the right may fullfill their threats to commit acts of violence if Obama is elected i think it is counter productive to give them credibility by fretting over it. How much support will they have if they blow up a building at this juncture? If one starts snipping at people from a rooftop will people flock to their cause?
I doubt it. In fact it will have the opposiste effect and people who may be sympathetic to them now may well be turned off entirely.
Focusing on this fear of what may happen will not help Obama get elected. As we have all seen in the aftermath of 9/11 the quickest way to move this country in the wrong direction is to scare the shit out of it.
marko @ 2:
Yes indeed nothing like "serving the public" before ones self which they we're "hired" to do.
Rove under too much heat? Nah, that's just the holy water burning.
xoites defends Constitution @ 3:
When the GOP says something like, Obama is fear mongering probably laughing is more effective at this point then lowering to their level and returning it.
How is it possible in a place like America that someone like Nancy Pelosi can be in a position to demonstrate to an obtuse and indifferent population that hypocrisy and sanctimonious preening are now the trademarks of fair and able dealing?
Thats a good question.
Right wingers will be bitter and cling to guns and such all
Found this @ whatreallyhappened.com (yeah, its a 'revisionist history' site ;)
But Michael Rivero makes an interesting point linking his thoughts to this story.
To correct Kanye West regarding the Katrina victims...George Bush hates the U.S. public.
As one who opposses guns i have to say i really do not care if people want to own them. It can be fairly argued that the Constitution permits it. If at some point an amendment to the Constitution that would clarify exactly the intent of our founders or exactly the intent of of our contemporaries is passed that makes it a right in clear language or takes away the right in clear language the point is moot. I have not heard any candidate talk about abridging this right. I can only hope that more people choose, as i do, not to own or use one.
Attila the Appeaser, Bilderberg Despot @ 8:
People saw Washington DC was basically totally out of touch with everyone during the 90's (whatever it takes to get Clinton) but this is off the cliff these days.
Washington should just rename itself the Homeland Green Zone.
xoites defends Constitution @ 3:
WARNING to all groups out there that plan on demonstrating:
Watch for the types in your group that want violence during protests...they may be an agent provacateur to play into the hands of Riot Control and give a reason to shut down the protests. Remember all those dirty tricks in '68...
Bynrdskynrd @ 11:
They are ALWAYS there in every major demonstration.
ALWAYS.
Firedoglake
The extremes of Bushco past present and future (McBush), is beyond what the any nanny state Librul would have enacted.
No Democratic president would have let the victims of Katrina suffer as Chimpy did and so many of them still are, scattered far from their homes. No Democrat would have let the housing market collapse like Bushco, and jobs evaporate so madly.
Bushco and his international friends in oil and outsourcing are the the NWO, no mistake there.

I would imagine Washington is very much like inner London in being a green zone, the politicians do like sleeping safely at night.
Bynrdskynrd @ 11:
Easy as cake. Oldest tactic since Reagan. Dress up a bunch of agents with fake tattoos, baseball caps, goatees and baggies, and Dem 08 buttons and start sh*t.
Sketch up a piece for Drudge and the MSM saying, Democrat violence in streets. Rush and Hannity follow up with ...."see we told you folks, the Democrats are violent intolerant hooligans with no respect for the safety of children and families or private or government property."
L.A. Confidential @ 17:
Much older than Reagan.
Xtian Law Enforcement
I've always wondered how the steroided LE thugs who taser a 6YO boy into fouling his pants, or bends a slight 15YO girl over a desk and twists and breaks her wrist, goes home and tells his wife and kids what they did.
"hi honey, I.m home, guess what I did at work today! chuckle chuckle"

The next time you walk into a convenience store and there is an officer there, say hello. Nine times out of ten you won't even get a response.

ferrofluid (Obama 08) @ 20:
Man, isn't that a load of post-pastoralist bullshit?!? I'd like to know that organization's definition of evil. Is someone who drives while under the influence evil? If I get pulled over for a burned-out turn signal, and a cop writes me a repair-and-report ticket, should I go directly to the confessional? Should I start in on the rosary before I even talk to my confessor?
We can smugly attack the religious right for their anti-science insanity, but we should also look in the mirror. Our media and politician have non-science degrees and contempt or fear of science as well. The law school grads know so little about science that it’s scary. Hollywood ridicules science as nerds. Instead, it is those without science training who are the hillarious fools to the rest of the world. Compounding their ignorance of science and engineering is the establishments hate and fear of business and economics. So we let those with nothing to offer us (epitomized by Tim Russert and John McCain) make our public policy and determine what we get from the MSM. Rather than beating on the same dead horse, evangelicals, we need to let truly educated scientists and economist back in charge.
L.A. Confidential @ 7:
She's taking the easy route by practicing what was established by the republicans prior to her tenure. I swear our leadership gets lazier everyday, and those politicians that are truly trying to get things done are considered fanatical. We as Americans need to wake up and do something. Unfortunately Pelosi will be back in office next year, and what will she offer with a new president? We'll find out.
Bynrdskynrd @ 12:
They are already recruiting heavily for "agent provacateur's" in St Paul.
Andy K Jong Il @ 30:
You need to ask yourself Andy K Jong if what you are doing is actually in excess. If you just got pulled over for a DUI, chances are it's not your first time. I've been fortunate in my life to have only one DWI, there's times I don't remember getting home. That one DWI was a stiff lesson and a wake up call. Regardless, police have a difficult task in discerning who is there to help them, and who wants to destroy their investigations. I can't blame them for looking at everybody with both eyes. There's alot of people that discuss killing cops, beating them, and going after their families. I would be somewhat suspicious of people myself. I'm not a cop, and if you have a certain look in your eye as I come near you, my defenses are ready. Maybe it's human nature.
For those that keep referring to the old testament, that was the old covenant that god mad with the Israelites. Jesus made a new covenant which isn't quite as unpleasant.
Oops, I meant to add a link about the new covenant of Jesus Christ vs the old covenant made between the Lord and the Israelits.
Pawn @ 34:
Seems like you and I have had similar battles with the bottle, Pawn. But I don't see diseases as evil.
And I don't want to presume that God was angry with anyone, or that he sent Jesus to write a new contract. Revealed religion is nothing but an tool to mystically codify the arbitrary rules of Agrarian Culture. If the few remaining pastoralist and hunter/gatherer societies remaining on Earth teach us anything it is that our concept of evil springs from Agrarian Culture.
But I'm starting to go way OT. If you want to know what I'm getting at, follow the link embedded in my handle.
Michael Reagan Calls for the Murder of Americans
According to the Catholic religion lay people like Jindal aren't permitted to perform exorcisms. That makes the guy a heretic.
Thank you for the Holy Crap link that discusses the Marshall Minutes.
Having served in the U.S.A.F. years ago during the Vietnam Nam, it is important (for me at least) to learn how corrupted our military has become, especially by people who claim they are Christian, while dishonoring their oath to protect our nation, and Constitution, from both foreign and domestic enemies.
So, in Marshall Minutes, we have a ?Christian? Fifth Column, operating way beneath the radar, actively recruiting members of our military into their Christian cult, probably just waiting for orders from whoever is in control to provide "disaster relief" following a "disaster" of their making.
I don't trust these bastards, anymore than I trust any of the bastards in the Bush administration.
