The Blue America Pac is rocking our way toward 350,000 dollars and if there is one thing that catches a Blue Dog's eye, it's raising money at a record rate. Please contribute so we can fight back on FISA.

Not even the dems care about the constitution anymore. Every person in congress that voted yes should be ashamed.

We need a third party!

Already donated! The Blue Dogs will take notice when we throw their sorry asses out one by one. It's just a matter of time.

I am disgusted. It's bad enough we have serious problems in this country. Poverty, Health-care, Two wars, gas prices, Floods. Now we have idiots taking away are freedooms? Now I'm in wonderland!

NO TELECOM IMMUNITY!

I just donated $20.00 to Act Blue and sent an email to Steny Hoyer at the Majority Leader web page asking him what part of NO did he not understand and that we would replace him and all the Blue Dogs who voted for this if it passed.

I sent a similar email to Nancy Pelosi last night.

Next up? Second line of defense in the Senate. Rockefeller to tell him to back off, Leahy and Feingold to praise them for their support and ask them to ramp up objections and filibuster if necessary and Reid to ask him to block the issue.

All other Americans who respect the Constitution should feel compelled to do the same or even more.

Yes. That would be US. Anything making this a three-legged race keeps the ball in the wrong hands...EVERY SINGLE TIME. don't forget it.

How did Obama vote on this FISA thing today?

Secondarily, how did Clinton vote on this FISA thing today?

I can't find this info anywhere.

The Republicans make that kind of money in 15 minutes of a rubber chicken fund raiser. $350,000 is chump change in today's political landscape. Make it $ 750,000 and you just might catch their attention.

Vote hasn't been taken.

As soon as I hit submit on this I'm going to donate $50.00. I wish it could be more but that's the reality of life in Bushworld.

It just hit me while I was out walking the dogs...Here the Democrats should be either impeaching or building cases to arrest and imprison Bush and instead they're doing everything in their power to protect him. Tell me there isn't something wrong there.

And we all know that in two months Hoyer, Pelosi, and Reid will be lamenting how Bush fooled them and they can't believe he's taking advantage of the powers they gave him with the new and improved FISA with extra telcom immunity!! And gee this really means how horrible the Republicans are so be sure to vote for a slate of Bush Dog Dems who you can't really tell from a Republican anyway.

Never in my soon to be 50 years would I have imagined what these people have done to my country.

Do you expect something from this weak-willed myopic Congress? Haven't you heard? The Republic is dead, long live the Empire.

This isn't a red/blue thing. It's a elected official/population at large thing. It's a no brainer. You're either for big business getting a pass when they break the law or you're for the constitution and the hope that there is recourse to the law. Spend some money here folks. We're either lurkers jerking off or we're part of an informed electorate. We can still hope.

I just realized I'm moving into Hoyer's District on Tuesday! What luck, I can introduce myself the first time by telling him I just gave money to see him given the boot or to at least make him uncomfortable in his district.

You have to take pleasure in the little things I guess.

So I went from Sarbanes to Hoyer, what a disappointment that is.

Because the Democrats fear they will be advertised against as unAmerican/treasonous/unpatriotic...

they set themselves up to be advertised against as incompetent/wishy-washy/cowardly....

By Republicans who willingly rape the Constitution for their radicalized destruction of democracy.

Blue Dogs say they are the Congressional Dems Conservative Watchdogs. Yet they would let this radicalization of our country and destruction of our laws stand. I'd say neuter the Blue Dogs, but it seems they've already been.

Jonathan Turley explained this deal about the dems voting for this FISA bill on Olbermans' show. He says it is a case of CYA on the part of everyone voting in favor. It sounded right on.

Fuck the Democrats. Go Independent.

You want to see the future of government, listen to Cindy Sheehan.

The Republicans and Democrats are like the I.B.M. of yore. Bloated with corporate profits, complacent and self-satisfied, smug in their positions of power, obsessed with their club-like ways.

They are going to be blown out of Washington by a revolution.

And they won't even know what hit them.

Only 17%, little doubt the rich and far right lunatic fringe, say we are heading in the right direction in the Bush era.

Is the fight really against FISA? or against the undermining of what FISA provided?

I'm so dispirited. I've got no snarky little comment, no wit, no nothing. Telecom retroactive immunity and Iraq are the two most grievous, precedent setting transgressions of this administration. My fellow Americans, we're bought and sold.

...""Ten years ago, we had a Democratic president, Clinton," and the worst that happened was his affairs, Ovitt said. Back then, gas prices, interest rates, unemployment and the federal budget deficit were low, he said. "Now that we have a Republican, everything is sky high. ... I mean I don't know how we're going to survive."

The partisan hacks of the Republican congress rewarded Clinton with impeachment for a job well done on behalf of all Americans. Where are they now on Bush/Cheney's impeachment for his lies and gross negilgance and for running America into the ground? Hypocrites.

VOTE EM OUT FOR THEIR AMERICA DESTROYING AGENDAS AND BLATANT HYPOCRISY!

Obama can stop this. Let him know how you feel.

Why the fuck are there any oversight provisions? The Admin won't follow and Congress won't oversee.

Let them just save the ink and trees on printing those portions of the law... or will that be too "green" a statement for them?

Anyone can write to Nancy Pelosi here

Or Steny Hoyer here.

Don't give up!

steny hoyer was the peloser's choice over murtha, right?

It needs to be brought to their attention that this is why the DNC has no money. We voted for them in 06 to stop the corruption and end the war. They have failed. Hell not just failed. They folded on everything like a cheap suit. Fool me once and fuck off. Not one more dime.

Didn't Pelosi win an 89% majority primary vote in CA on 6-3?

I love Cindy Sheehan but we need a HIGHLY DISCIPLINED challenger against Pelosi.
In this atmosphere Cindy is a liability towards the urgency of the need to get Pelosi out. Pelosi is cock-confident right now and dumps her 'for the people' before EVERY election.

Pelosi needs to be called a 'liar' at every opportunity we get.

Her campaign language is utterly schizophrenic in that you can tell she understands everything then uses it against the very people who voted her in.

these bastards are all joined at the hip!

There's an easy way to get this thing killed.

Call up Wexler and tell him to put an amendment in the bill that provides for universal health care and increased educational and pay benefits for veterans. The Republicans will vote it down in a heartbeat and if they don't Shrub will.

If we're going to be IN this game then we should be fighting fire with fire.

I'm going out on a limb here on how Obama votes on FISA tomorrow:

Either "yes" on this 1-5 year abortion against our country or most likely....

HE WON'T SHOW UP TO VOTE AT ALL (to save his ass).

Well said # 14 Congressive , "This sets precedence that to establish legality, just present a letter from the president saying it’s OK. To torture. To spy. To profiteer. To kill. No courts. No judges. No evidence. No due process. Just a letter. From a lame-duck-fuck." As far as I am concerned the Dem leadership are darn near in the Lieberman category . They are covering their own asses is what they are doing and to hell with the 4th Amendment and the Constitution . If these are the ones we are relying on and counting on to restore the law and to defend and strengthen the Constitution and the Bill of Rights good luck ! VOTE EM OUT !!!! That's all we can do . No messing around , go after them !
If this is allowed we are SOL as a ( supposed ) Democracy . This sets precedence and then what ? These no good self serving stand for nothing unprincipled politicians are selling us and the country out . If they vote for this , allow it , they are criminals and traitors too , not any better than Bush and the Repugs .

Yes. I'm sure you enjoyed your little splort at my expense. You apologized to the sitemonitor. What a coward.

Yeah, but Steny Hoyer and Nancy Pelosi caved. Setting up Sen. Obama for a vote on this spineless (but anti-terrorist) bill. Why? Why is it bad to coast through the Bush years with the old law? My senator, Russ Feingold, called it what it is. It's shameful.

I'm not a big fan of impeachment, but it seems the Congress figured the two choices were impeaching the president for breaking the law or changing the law to make what he did legal. I think they misunderstood the choice.

Why should I contribute to liberal Democrats when Obama endorses right-wing Democrats?

I'm glad to see that the Democrats are not afraid to play hard ball when it comes to the important things, like protecting Bush and the telecoms from the consequences of breaking the law. Steny Hoyer is another Lieberman (not a compliment). I hope the voters of Maryland's 5th district will send this bum packing.

Comeon man why are you moderating my Kucinich comments, what have I ever said the deservers this treatment. Are Crooks and Liars run by Crooks and Liars?

I only ever say what needs to be said. Am I too real? WTH.

Thats the gay thing I can clear the cookies change my name and post, so what is the point. You tell me your rules what I do that is wrong and I won't do it, just to harsh and a nasty mind right, thats what you all told me before. This stuff that is going on in our government isn't going to get fixxed by be spinless and greedy.

Put that kucinich post up damit, practice some freedome of speach here.

Obama has endorsed Barrow. What do we do about that?

Why, why is Bush pushing for this with every ounce of breath in his evil worthless body? Because they broke the law, and he knows it!

Secondly, why doens't Obama tell these republican lite imbeciles that there will be NO immunity? He could put a stop to this!

Pass an after the fact law, so that blatant criminals can be absolved of crimes committed. Un f-ing believable! F. U. Steny Hoyer, you worthless sack of shit!!!

I thought that it was a done deal. I'm sick of sending the Dems money from my pension only to see them fold every...single...time...

So Obama used to be against this law, but now is actively going to support one of the worst Bush-lapdogs-Democrat getting re-elected against someone who defends the principles Obama "also" pretends to stand for.

http://www.salon.com/opinion/greenwald/2008/06/19/obama/index.html

One of the first tests to see if Obama stands for "change" or if he's been faking and ends up defending the "status-quo". Good thing we still have Greenwald. Oh and I didn't say because Obama might help a douchebag getting elected against a another and much better Democratic candidate, this means McSame would be a better choice for Prez... Quite the contraty.

I'm just saying that unliek Repugs we should keep our elected leaders accountable and under constant scrutiny, that's what a democratic proces is suposed to be.

Why are the Democrats caving in to Bush again? Last night on Olberman Jonathan Turley said some leading Democrats knew about illegal surveillance and illegal torture programs years ago and now are afraid they will be held liable. Turley used the word "collusion." It made me sick to see Harry Reid with his arm around Hoyer and Reid was quoted as praising this bill. On the other hand Russ Feingold slammed the bill for what it was and for caving in to Bush once again. The Democrats so far have a perfect record of giving Bush eveything he has asked for. How much longer do we have to put up with the traitors Reid and Pelosi and Lieberman? Obama is right, we need change. On another note, Lieberman is scheduled to speak at the repug convention. And we let this idiot keep his job!!!

I just called mmost of the DEM senators & let them know I switched from green party to dem, because I thought it would make a difference.

If they want to roll on this, then I may roll to Ralph Nader come November.

BTW complete list of senate & congress: http://www.congress.org/congressorg/power_rankings/overall.tt

I see that Taylor Marsh and her loyal centrist listeners have raised a whopping $27 for the cause of freedom. Why to go Taylor fans.

Don't waste your money. Turns out the Dems knew about the wire tapping almost from the beginning.

And the worst part of this, is that when the law gets challenged, "friends" of the people like Scalia, Roberts and Alito will decide the issue in favor of...................! Game, set and match children!

Thanks for putting this up. Just made a donation.

I should think that what is currently unfolding is exactly what should have been expected when the MSM was busy manipulating and rigging the nomination process early in the debates by silencing or portraying as an irrelevant crackpot any candidate who dared to breathe a word about protecting the Constitution. The whole thing was rigged to get the nomination for neocon-Lite Über-corporatist HRC, or, failing that objective, a close second in Obama.

Obama , now as head of the Democratic Party could put a stop to the Constitutional assault and the assault on the rule of law that this FISA nonesense represents. It apparently isn't important enough for him to do so.

Probably, since the march of totalitarian fascism is proceeding apace without hindrances, instead of voting this November or sitting it out, I think I'll just leave the country for good. The US is becoming a place to flee from instead of live in or immigrate to.

small town voice

i challenge rural and small town progressives to support blue america. i am way to the left of most dems, and support other independent voices, but we must invest in non-dnc dlc causes. i support dennis kucinich still. a voice in the wilderness. if kansas, where i am from, can reelect kathleen sibelius, then i know there is hope. but we must support it.

I just dropped 150 beans into the pot.... and kicked in a little extry for the Act Blue folks

I am frakin pished that the weak dems are caving again

I am not a dem, I am an independent but this is a make or break issue for our country really going past the point of no return

and to the repubs.... you no longer inhabit the land of reagan. the shining city on the hill is no more than a memory. torture, warrantless spying, wall street socialist bailouts... shove it all.

We don't need 3rd party we just need to vote against the Dems that betray the law just as Republicans needs to do the same. Remember the courts rule, the voter is responsible to be informed. Politicians have the right to misinform there people.

I chipped in too, with a tip.

Personally, this feels like the beginning of an open assault by the US Government on the Constitution, and We The People.

The new FISA (and the War on Terror, in fact) isn't about fighting terrorism - it's about replacing democracy with totalitarianism driven by greedy corporate interests.

We get all the benefits of taxation, without the burdon of representation. Haven't we been there before?
