Seems to me Lou is commenting on the Salmonella and adding to the list of impeachable offenses. He doesn't seem to endorsing or opposing the others.
Whatever it takes. Blatantly destroying and neglecting the public safety for your business cronies sounds like a good reason to me. I have said the same thing myself. Maybe if Nancy got a good case of "something" compliments of the Bush administration, maybe then she would set the table - once she got off the thrown.

I can't believe you actually jumped on the bandwagon of rabid oversimplifiers ganging up on Lou Dobbs and taking his comments out of context. George W. Bush has gutted the federal agencies that are supposed to be helping us: FEMA, the FDA, FAA, and others. He has installed his cronies as heads of agencies who neither know nor care anything about the agencies they have been charged with heading. There have been massive defections and firings. The chaotic state these agencies are in and the shoddy way they are run directly endangers the public welfare. For you and others to make light of it, simply undermines the ability of the public to truly understand the egregiousness and the totality of the crimes perpetrated by the Bush Administration against the American public.
Dobbs has some seriously strange priorities. Yes, destroying the FDA from within as Bush has done is unconscionable, but why suddenly speak out about that now when so much that is impeachable happened years ago, e.g., lying us into a war, warrantless wiretapping, outing a CIA agent.
For Dobbs it takes undermining the FDA to speak out at this late date? Why would I trust his judgment on economic issues when he's so slow to come to any sort of real awareness?

Canada has had 4 or 5 cases of Mad Cow detected. We used the same stupid feedlot methods as the US back iin the 90's. Statistically you would think that the US would have at least as many cases by now (if not 10x more). There have been next to none.
The lack of inspectors sure has been "convenient" for the US cattle and food processing industry.
I was a cowboy for a very short period of time. I am well aware by witness and experience that ranchers use the "Triple S" strategy when they can get away with it - shoot , shovel, and shut the hell up.
If sick cattle are covered up in the ranches, imagine what the feedlots and abattoirs and processers can get away with.

As a Florida resident with tomato fields less than a mile from my house, this inability to locate the source of the outbreak is really hurting local farmers here; I don't believe most are insured against this type of "crop failure."
The fact that we can't figure out what F*CKING COUNTRY, let alone the field, the bad tomatoes came from should be a BIG wake-up call. We have let BushCo dismember so many regulatory agencies so he can transfer funds to his oil war, and we don't f'ing CARE! Sorry, but I have to stand up for Lou Dobbs here as a daily watcher. He has been discussing this business with the tainted tomato illnesses since it began. He has had his own team from the show out following up for the safety of the American people. He had stated that he had heard many reasons before but this one was alone important enough for impeachment. He did not belittle the other reasons but found a government who is stalling on protecting the lives of Americans is scandalous and part of the reason he is hearing is because your government is once again saying it is caving in to pressures from Mexico who say it is hurting their reputation. For almost two weeks or more they say thay they don't know whether the tomatoes came from Florida or Mexico but haven't sent more investigators out because they don't have any. Lou feels they are delaying a decision to appease Mexico and of course this doesn't sit well with him after all his time tryng to defend the rights of two of your border guards who are sitting in prison now and who were only eventually charged because Mexico complained to the WH and it was then the DOJ and Johnny Sutton gave a drug smuggler immunity and charged two of your guards who they made sure were convicted by manipulating evidence and have been sentenced to 10 years in prison. If you haven't heard of Ramos and Compeon then perhaps you should since Lou has been fighting for the fact that the Bush Govt. has been caving into doing things against its own citizens to appease the Govt. of Mexico. He just feels strongly that this tomato problem is another cave in to the Mexican government disregarding the safety and lives of Americans. I find nothing wrong in that. Lou Dobbs may be a lot of things in the minds of those who want immigration full amnesty but he is one who favors immigration but not illegal immigration and still finds it terrible that after all this time after 9/11 your borders and ports etc. are not secure. He's right, incompetence is a reason to pursue impeachment. However, you can't impeach the President for incompetence. The constitution says 'high crimes and misdemeanors' so until screwing up my order at the McDonald's drive through window becomes a criminal offense you can't impeach the President for it.
However, it is completely illegal and in fact a felony to violate the provisions of FISA that prohibit eavesdropping, wiretapping and search and surveillance on Americans.
It is also completely against federal law, international law and in some cases state law to conduct torture on American detainees, which we know from George W. Bush's own mouth HE AUTHORIZED after Cheney and the rest of his cabinet debated whether or not to use it.
It is also illegal to defraud the Federal government, which if the recent Congressional report is actually factual and Scott McClellan and Dick Durbin are telling the truth the administration conflated the case against Iraq and exaggeration and falsifying evidence is fraud.
So, why bother with political theater and accusations about things that aren't crimes when we could impeach him on the things that he has actually done. Anything more than that is a waste of time and risks him getting acquitted when he deserves prison time.

I don't see what most of you here are crying about. He didn't claim that this was the only thing our "great" president could be impeached for. But yes, there are other things Mr.Bush could be impeached for, and some of these other impeachable acts most certainly caused more damage to us personally and nationally. However, making the claim that any other impeachable acts should not be brought up strikes me as stupid.

I agree with him. Slow poisining of the American people is a much bigger issue than any blow job. The standards, or lack thereof, for your safety, is criminal.
I read, a while back, how the agency has been gutted, and poisins (and hormones-- milk, meat, etc.) in your food are up as much as 10X what they once were. If a product is unsafe, they change the guidelines and ship it to market anyway.

Hate to wake anyone from their sleepy dreams of competent government, but you will NEVER get justice. We voted in Democrats to get us out of Iraq. No results. We wanted W impeached. No results(it's "off the table"). The Dems are working harder to protect the President than the GOP! If they won't get justice for us and fix what is broken, I have no hope that they will fix it when they get in. I do believe we have already enough evidence to impeach Bush and Cheney, why settle on Tomatoes when we have murder,corruption, torture, etc etc etc. It's an extensive list already, and a tomato I doubt will be the one charge that is going to put Impeachment back on the table , as long as Pelosi is setting the table. I dunno why you people keep blaming the markets over and over and over. If I remember correctly, all the companies that sold tomatoes or had tomatoes in their products stopped selling them IMMEDIATELY as soon as the warning of salmonella came out- the government had done nothing. In the market, if people even suspect a company of having tainted products- they would go under. Refer to the Tylenol scare of 1982- and what Tylenol did to protect its customers before the government did a damn thing. The FDA is a ridiculous insitution that takes decades to approve medicine that can save lives, approve things that hurt people anyway, and ban products for no godamn good reason. Why is miracle fruit of all things not legal to market? Why can't a doctor prescribe marijuana to a patient, because some beaurocrat said so? The idea that without the FDA we would all be poisoned and die shortly after is just plain nuts.
