New AP D.C. Bureau Chief to Karl Rove: "Keep up the fight"

TPM picks up on this revealing gem from the House Oversight Committee's report (.pdf) on Jessica Lynch and Pat Tillman:
Karl Rove exchanged e-mails about Pat Tillman with Associated Press reporter Ron Fournier, under the subject line "H-E-R-O." In response to Mr. Fournier's e-mail, Mr. Rove asked, "How does our country continue to produce men and women like this," to which Mr. Fournier replied, "The Lord creates men and women like this all over the world. But only the great and free countries allow them to flourish. Keep up the fight."
Although immediate requests for comment from Fournier, who is now the AP's acting Washington D.C. bureau chief, were not returned, a later AP article on the matter gets him on the record:
"I was an AP political reporter at the time of the 2004 e-mail exchange, and was interacting with a source, a top aide to the president, in the course of following an important and compelling story. I regret the breezy nature of the correspondence."
It would be interesting to go back to the time this email was written to see just how (un)critically Fournier's reporting of the Iraq War was. If anyone comes across something, by all means feel free to leave comments.

This obviously explains all the hit pieces on John Edwards and why tools like the AP's Liz Sidoti(who did it in conjunction with Fournier) bring McCain donuts.

The AP has not CREDIBILITY any more. None. If I see something by the AP I toss it in the bin along with Faux New material. You can't believe anything they say.

Sure, when neocon thugs take over the information outlets, they control the messages the masses get and set the tone. They can label Obama "arrogant" and suddenly everyone thinks he's arrogant. That was a word that never came to mind to describe Obama to me. But it's planted in my head. This AP joker is just a better-placed Armstrong Williams. They have taken over the media outlets, which enabled the bloodless neocon coup and resulted in any lack of mainstream media criticism and analysis in the run up to the Iraq invasion. Talking about "the lord" to Karl Rove -- this guy is just another neocon footsoldier in the mold of Kyle Sampson and Monica Goodling. The AP's credibility is now nill.
Keep up the fight against what? Freedom and Democracy?

How many other Ron Fourniers are there in various news bureaus in the mainstream media? Lord knows that there must be many more who are a little more careful in their "breezy" correspondence.
This guy should be fired. As well Liz Sidoti should be fired. The AP has zero credibility. The AP's current credibility lays with that of Fixed News and the Washington Times.

So, great men and women are simply created? Pat Tillman was merely created like a robot or something? It had nothing to do with who he decided to be? I'll just contact my four offspring and tell them not to bother, either they are great humans or not, its already been decided. Some people just don't get it. Of course, he wants to define what greatness is also. Fournier, if you truly are repentant, show it, do a great job at AP. Do a job your mother would be proud of.

Educate the populace. If you already know.. There's many who don't. I just learned about the severity of the mess we are in within the last 5 years. Surely there are others in that same boat. I think its time to speak out and discuss the issues we have ignored over the relative period of peace and prosperity in the last 40-50 years.

What's your plan?
As a freelance writer myself, I can say that it is OK to have political leanings but to keep them to yourself. You especially don't suck-up to high-profile party operatives, elected officials, or the subjects of your stories. Now his professional integrity is shot.
It's far from the only time Fournier's been a tool and worked to further Rove's agenda. It would be one thing if he was working Rove, but based on Fournier's written pieces, I don't think he was at all.

Breezy? More like "cozy". Reporters are way too chummy with the people they cover these days. I've never seen anything like this - I remember when journalists would rather be caught dead than seeming too chummy with politicians. It interferes with their ability to be objective, and good reporters know it.
That doesn't mean you don't ask how their Mom is if you know she's ill - it means - well, you don't go have barbeque at the flippin' ranch.
The AP has been in the tank for McCain since it became a two-person race. Figures this guy is rising to the top.
Where is Karl Rove? Is he in the Crimea? Did he report to work @ newsweek & fox? How come no one talkin bout this? ... nobody ...
The AP should be on everyones list who's progressive, there's no way their negative coverage of Obama so far has been missed by the MsM they just can't call them on it.
