You know that the subjects always want their imperial overlords to leave, I'm sure both the Indians and the Iraqis would agree with that....
Poor angry Johnny....got an incomplete on his paper and was told by the professor to do it over and better. Johnny thinks the professor doesn't like him.
In 2003, chairman of the Senate Banking Committee Chris Dodd refinanced his home mortgages with Countrywide Financial (CFC), receiving a below-market interest rate that allegedly saved him $75,000 a year. He never disclosed the benefit to the Senate and claimed he was in Countrywide's VIP program because he was "a good customer of Countrywide's" – which is as bald-faced a lie as has ever been told in Washington, D.C.
In any case, the bill Dodd is getting through Congress (which was written by Bank of America (BAC), by the way) will create a new tax on Freddie and Fannie – 4.2 basis points on all mortgages they buy. That would generate about $600 million annually.
And, the money won't go into the general fund. Most of the money (65%) will go directly to the secretary of Housing and Urban Development, who will pass out the loot in the form of block grants to states. The Treasury secretary will get the rest of the money. He's allowed to give it to any nonprofit entity he chooses. And that means, whoever wins the presidency will get another $600 million (or more) each year to kick back to political backers. All for "affordable" housing, of course...
I'm totally lovin' the NYT right now. McCain was asked for a re-write and he doesn't think that was fair? What a whiner.
That link to Informed Comment puts some perspective into what McCain and Lieberman have been mouthing off. As usual, they are wrong. They are saying that had it not been for the surge, Sen. Obama could not have visited Iraq. Cole compares Sen. Obama's last visit and the conditions on the ground to this most recent visit. Great point made!
This just in (Washington Post by way of MSNBC):
Young Republicans, blue about prospects ahead
Listen to the young Neo-Fascists whine.
Anti War Candidate Obama wants to beef up the military with 65,000 additional ground forces and 27,000 more marines. He's also stated that he will add “two additional combat brigades to Afghanistan” and encourage NATO to make “greater contributions—with fewer restrictions”. In his op-ed he boasted, "As president, I will make the fight against Al Qaeda and the Taliban the top priority that it should be. This is a war that we have to win.”
Nancy Pelosi is acually the perfect example of what the Democrats are all about. Look at the way she brushed aside the people who got her elected. They mean nothing to her.
Tech will save us. On NPR the other day they played some sound bites where some Tech Evangelist said technology is changing so fast someday we'll have brain chip implants where you'll be able to think your purchase. No physical effort required.
Hey George Bush. Watch me make this pencil disappear.

Young Republicans, blue about prospects ahead
Gen-Nexters are feeling left out of the party
David All glanced around Top of the Hill bar and saw the future of the Republican Party. It looked dim. A who’s who of young conservatives had gathered, but they were few, and they were frustrated.
..
Listen to the young Neo-Fascists whine.
Excellent article!!! Yes, those young GOPers have a great deal to be depressed about. They belong to a worthless, out-of-touch party that has destroyed itself and America in the process.
I don't care if GOP Gen Xers come to their senses. I just want them to stay home on election day.
And another thing ... Who the hell is conservative when they're young anyway!!
L.A. Confidential @ 7:
More lies...Obama never said he was an "Anti-War Candidate", idiot. He has always been against Bush's "Iraq War". Your "Jessie Jackson" like jealousy for Obama is showing again old man.
I loves me some Juan Cole.
Check out this gem about the Al-Maliki-CENTCOM-mistranslation hullabaloo:
That's exactly what I thought when I heard about this "mis-translation" bullshit. We've seen this script before. Remember the Rather memo forgeries? Or the actual evidence behind Kerry's military service? The truth doesn't matter - its just two different narratives in Rove world. Cue the MSM to "report the controversy" and you've got your McCain damage control.
These fuckers must not be let off the hook this time. I don't care if Obama is "post-partisan." If they are not prosecuted, convicted, and incarcerated this time, they'll come back like a bad cheese-steak. If Ford hadn't let them off the hook in 1974, we wouldn't have Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al. in power now.

L.A. Confidential @ 7:
As usual, you are hysterical and factually retarded, you twit. Hillary lost, thank God...you are looking even more desperate day by day. Obama never called himself the "Anti War Candidate", you mook. Only an arsehole would rebuke a president who wants to really fight AQ and the Taliban and not get distracted with some facade of a war in Iraq. Seriously, you are completely insignificant at this time and so angry.
Left&Left @ 11:
I thought LAC is a old single lady who owns cats.
Good for her, now let's hear some public comments on full accountability for Bush's many crimes.
Re: Wingnut outrage over NYT refusal to carry McCain op-ed piece. I tried to comment over at Little Green Footballs, but they rejected my registration. Aren't they interested in views from new boots on the keyboard?
Old Billy Hussein @ 12:
While I agree with Billy's point, I beleive it was Ford who put Cheney on the point, not let him off the hook.
I do not blame Ford. I blame General Motors. If they hadn't made the Tempest or the Corvair and invaded Raplph Nader's privacy, we wouldn't have Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al. in power now.
Dr. Hussein Matt @ 16:
You folks are all starting to look frayed at the edges.
Obama has called for an increase in the 'defense budget'.
This is a budget already bloated beyond comprehension.
We spend more than the entire rest of the world. Much of it no bid contract.
I expect Obama to be the next president because he is vastly superior to McGoo, but that same sort of fact didn't work for Gore. Still the barbarians have made such a mess that the Democrats should be able to orchestrate a landslide, even though they have been largely complicit in creating the mess.
So Obama is a long way from perfect and I won't cut him any slack.
But McGoo rates far less than zero.
If the two party duopoly is ever to fall then I will go with the real deal.
My hope is that Obama's defense budget increase statements are political pandering to the war profiteers.
We'll see.
Another Rovian ad. Falsely accusing the other side of what they are guilty of. Look at all the right wing shills saying the media is in love with Obama being used as and ad as "evidence" that the media is in love with Obama! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/22/new-john-mccain-ads-show_n_1142...
Even if it were true, after 8 years of Republican death, war, debt, destruction, fear, division and hate, what would be wrong if the corporate media did show love for Obama? Of course we know that's not true and the corporate media is McCain's base.
McSame has the mcsame BushCo cretins working on his campaign so look for many more lies, spins and distortions to come.
Alice X (Chomsky Nader) status quObama - change you can pretend in - @ 20:
Give me the link where he said this and the details of his proposal. Quit being a typical loony knee-jerk liberal.
Alice X. Absent an admission that driving the Chevy Corvair off the market was better than the Surge and a promise of a defense free budget from Obama, nothing will stop her ceaseless trolling for perfection. No feeding, por favor.
"Hillary Clinton has taken a public stand against the Bush administration’s outrageous attempts to put common forms of contraception in the same category as abortion"
I wonder if those religious extremists are also against any sex outside of proceation, and if so what do they base that and their views on?
Alice X (Chomsky Nader) status quObama - change you can pretend in - @ 20:
If Grandpa is a "zero" what are we debating? And unless you're a mystic you honestly don't know what Obama will do. I don't give a shit what you call me....this election is too important to play American Idol in the poll booth....we must drive these asshole Repubs out....And please don't bring up that not a chance in hell Nader, OK? IF YOU WANT THESE CRIMINAL REPUBS OUT, OBAMA IS THE ONLY CHANCE!
Dr. Hussein Matt @ 22:
If I am a 'typical loony knee-jerk liberal' as you put it, whatever that is, I am in sometimes good company around here, present name calling company excepted. The name calling is what I was complaining about and you fit right through the mold, congratulations for the complete lack of class.
Here is the quote from Obama's book The Audacity of Hope
You can find reference to the quote here.
A liberal I am, a liberal Obama is not. Still, he IS the lesser of two evils.
I have but one vote, being a law abiding citizen, and after the election I will know who it went to.
It could never go to a Republican, as constituted since early in the twentieth century. That much I already know.
Left&Left @ 25:
I didn't call you anything. But you have begun to call people names and that does not reflect well on you, the name caller.

Criminal Republicans, criminal Democrats, criminals everywhere I look. EXCEPT KUCINICH, NADER and a few others.
We don't have a country anymore, we have a cesspool.
The reich wing and their sponge minions are so bitter and brittle that they perceive attacks in every word they read. All it takes is the suggestion of rejection and they shatter into a million whines.
Thanks for the link, and fine company. McCain's Iraq policy is just muddled, and gets no clearer the more he talks. That's the case for him on virtually every issue.
"Hillary Clinton has taken a public stand against the Bush administration’s outrageous attempts to put common forms of contraception in the same category as abortion"
Once again Hillary actually does something, as opposed to obama, who has never tried to do something and succeeded.
Nicky @ 23:
trolling for perfection
That's good, I'll remember that.
The Chevy Corvair was an unsafe car.
The 'Surge' was a misnomer and euphemism for the escalation of an illegal war. A war undertaken by a false pretext. To use the term of the Nuremberg War Crimes Tribunal the second count of which was 'making aggressive war'.
In other words attacking someone that did not attack you. We obtained convictions on that title.
How you conflate the Chevy Corvair and the escalation of an illegal war is a mystery to me but I will listen if you care to explain.
Meanwhile I will continue to troll for perfection.
Alice X (Chomsky Nader) status quObama - change you can pretend in - @ 26:
It could never go to a Democrat, as constituted in the early 20th Century either, remember at one time my region was solidly Democratic, and it wasn't out of any especial liberality in the Jim Crow South's heart.
