Daily Show: Bush's All-Star Team of Liars and Deceivers
By SilentPatriot Tuesday Jul 22, 2008 4:50pm
After John Ashcroft's testimony last week in which he bobbed and weaved his way around answering every question about what he did during his time in the White House, Jon Stewart and John Oliver compare Bush and his merry band of obfuscators to other American Presidential liars in order to make a historical comparison. Needless to say, the Bush team is in a league of its own.

Oliver: "I just hope everyone at home appreciates the magnitude of what they're witnessing here. For 7 straight years, this administration has been untouchable in hearings. These guys are the '27 Yankees of dodging questions. The '55 Dodgers of yanking Congress' chain. They're the right stuff of wrong stuff. John, this is once in a generation bullsh*t."
Steart: You really think this admininstration is that good at this?
John: Sure, look, we can quibble at the level of competetition. You can criticize the strength of their opponents -- lets face it, the Democrats have been pathetic. But you still can't help but be impressed at the level of skills on display. I won't be surprised if in years to come they describe these hearings as the 'Immaculate Deception.'"
I truly can't wait to see those jerseys hanging from the rafters.

Lewis Black: It's the End of an Empire sale and everything must go

And speaking of BS, what the hell is happening with Rove's inherent contempt? What the hell's the holdup!
Each day I'm finding it more and more difficult to find anything about this administration humorous, even when it's on the Daily Show.
When I think about the possibility of McCain being the next president and his doing anything he is told by this ex bunch of liars hidden behind the curtains in the oval office, that is a frightening scenario to me.
ronnyg @ 2:
Here's where Rove is today. Let me warn you, it will make you damned angry.
"The greatest douche-bags there ever was"
Vigilante justice has always been incomprehensible to me. After watching these lying scumbags gleefully aring their contempt for this country, its laws and it People, and knowing that they are going to get away with their crimes (because they are all using the same well-rehearsed lies), I think I'm getting a glimmer of how mob justice gets started.
Unless underlings who were witness to the things that these slimey criminals are lying about come forward with the truth, they're going to walk. And, they are going to be laughing their asses off every step of the way.
The Dems can only wish they were at the same level as the Bush White House when it comes to giving the finger to the American public. Not that the Dems haven't helped as much as possible, every step of the way mind you. But the unmitigated gall displayed by Bush, what an ass hole.....
Well.... It ain't the Nuremberg picture photo-shopped with the current miscreants we all know and loath... But what we have here does have most (but not all) of the 'deserving' players names in place.... Now if we could only get a shot of them (all) wearing orange jumpsuits..... if only..................Yea, I'm beginning to see how mob law gets traction too............JD
Forget the jerseys, hang the contents.
Oliver's right. Nixon's crew couldn't hold a candle to this bunch. Douchebags, heh. Do they still make real douchebags?
The Daily Show hits another one over the fence. I think I would have killed myself years ago had it not been for this and the Colbert Report. Thanks, Comedy Central!
And just in case not everybody has heard about this gem: another one of the liars - this time Rove co-conspirator and "journalist" Robert Novak - hit a pedestrian in a crosswalk earlier today. In the account I read, Novak claims not to have noticed that anything had happened even though an eyewitness on bicycle said that the pedestrian was splayed across Novak's windshield. Novak kept driving, but apparently was not charged with hit-and-run, but merely given a $50 fine for failing to yield the right of way.
How wonderful it is to be famous, er - infamous, I mean . . .
Ashcroft sounds like the name of a judge in the witch-burning days.
I saw some of his testimony on C-Span. Congress is investigating whether his branch of government breached the other branches. Instead of answering the questions, he gave a generic elementary school level lecture on the seperation of the branches, as if it was his branch being breached.
It's just so hard to watch this kind of flagrant disregard for the Constitution and the general rule of law. I'd say Fuck Them if they weren't already fucking ALL of us already.
They just stall and confuse ( a bit of the razzle dazzle play ), and the Dems are not really going to play it tough with these
crooks and liars, they know they have a few months and then they will all be pardoned.
The voters won't really care and the nation 'moves on'. Pretty disgusting, heh?
It appears as if the Democrats are taking a knife to a gun fight
Cheney learned from the Nixon administration how not to get caught. He saw where Nixon's administration made their mistakes and when he came into the white house he shored up any areas where the bush administration might be vulnerable. Then he set to work with his evilness. He had a president he could control so he had it made.
For 7 years Americans have believed and supported the lies as those who report the White House Propaganda get paid for the lies. Right now McCain openly lies and loses his memory and still voters support the fact McCain will follow the White House course of criminal action. Bush will give a blanket pardon to all the White House Departments and friends for a job well done. Yes Bush will give himself a pardon and Cheney. Right now Americans are ordered to pay for the stolen money from the housing criminals, next the corrupt contractor, Iraq money given by the Bush/Cheney team over the past 7 years and then the up coming lawsuits from all over the World. We have a 10 Trillion dollar debt and add the rest you'll see another country will own the United States. We can blame Republican or Democrats but we are the ones who allowed it to happen. Even as Obama speaks of corrections the Media pushing for support of John McCain. Rome fell and so will the USA.
Jackie @ 17:
And that is why man invented cocktails.
"Oh What a Tangled Web We Weave, When First We Practice to Deceive."
This is a classic example of Lying so much that you forget which is the lie and which is not. They have lied to protect themselves so much that they are now deceiving themselves (not to mention the people they are sworn to serve.
Here is an excerpt of an article I had in the Bangkok Post.
Selling American Democracy.
The Bush administration, after using every excuse they could use for their illegal invasion of Iraq, settled on the last one. Spreading Democracy in the Middle East.
Spreading Democracy? What kind of irrational thought comes up with these things and what kind of people believe them?
The Bush Administration talks of Democracy like it was something you can just cook up, like Soup. The problem? Well, the biggest problem is that Democracy isn't soup, and if it were then one has to realize that the soup isn't created by the SPOON, It's The Ingredients! And as long as I'm on this subject, Democracy Soup would then come in many different flavours that would not taste quite like American Democracy Soup.
Buzzflash has come up with a great little pin that describes exactly how I feel about the possibility of McCain becoming president.
Geraldo @ 9:
Well said.
Isn't it nice that we can laugh as the rule of law and our country go down the drain?
Re BB @ 19--
Soup = a good image.
My image of "spreading freedom" was cold peanut butter on a piece of white bread: it doesn't exactly go smoothly...
isitjustme? @ 22:
What else can you do ? Might as well pop a beer and enjoy it.
Jerry @ 24:
That's what I said until my beer budget started overshadowing the college savings budget.
Exotic Blue Lensman @ 25:
"Every one must have the sickness, as everyone needs the cure"
You gotta love America that this clip is even aired.
then again...UTube pulled a Bush video less than 12 hours after it was made so you have to wonder.
The other Bush video is here http://politicalblog.abc13.com/
It is really difficult to retain a sense of humour about these things, when you know in your heart these people will never be prosecuted for anything. They have their book deals and their speaking engagements and continue to work behind the scenes with the McCain administration. Self-interest has won over the greater good and our country is doomed for it.
Robin @ 27:
Despite the fact that I suffer an extreme visceral response everytime I hear the man's voice, I did watch the clip. What a F###ing Douchbag!
pure comedy gold, and oh-so-appropriate, I'm just enthralled everytime John Oliver is on, he's a master of delivery IMHO.
This video clip, along with another recent one (can't recall which)
only has audio in its left channel...
Dem performance cannot be accurately evaluated as long as the talk radio effect is ignored. limbaugh and hannity just got 1/2BIL$ in contracts that we know of and no one will ever get that kind of money for selling radio ad time, or for wit and wisdom. with their uncontested repetition from all the biggest soapboxes in the country they have been deciding what is acceptable and unacceptable in media and in politics, making excuses for the most corrupt white house in history while swiftboating and intimidating and threatening anyone decent in politics and media. unfortunately even the politicians have ignored talk radio, the biggest political blunder of the last couple of decades at least, while attributing this bush disaster to widespread social changes instead of the most effective propaganda operation the country has ever seen.
When Scarborough speaks of Olberman being too stupid to pay attention to the events of recent history he is really talking about his own lack of proper attention to the events in Iraq. He assumes everyone else at MSNBC must be as lazy and inattentive as himself. How does he know how good a memory Olberman has or has not? When Cuppa Joe had a show in the evening time I regularly caught him screwing up his facts on the recent history of Iraq. The guy is a hack and a bad lazy one too.

Oops I was in the wrong screen and so made that last comment.
When I watched this last night, I laughed so hard milk came out of my nose, and I was drinking iced tea. I had to watch the repeat later. In just a few minutes TDS analyzed and gave us a 100% spot on summation of the Bush legacy. Crooks, Liars and Douchebags of the highest order. Dubya and company will be remembered as the creators of America's darkest years. This White House crew are the perpetrators of the highest crimes. Congress failed in it's oversight. The mainstream media bought and sold the distortions and lies of this administration. Our Supreme Court stole an election. The uninformed American public voted for these Masters of The Fix ... twice. That is, the few that even bothered to vote at all.
Now we face decades of misery. Year upon year of cleaning up the mess left by a cold and soulless leadership that failed America on every level. We must laugh while we can. The years ahead will hold little joy. My only hope is that a new leadership will find the courage to rescue us from this disaster. However, I am not very hopeful. Good luck to us all, we will need it.
hey look, fer shure the douche bag and turd sandwich blue plate special that's presently running the country has "decepticon" cred and some serious chops but *the best evah"?
lest we forget the actual present record holder in the vast purple majesties glory that is the American experience (waves flag and wipes tear from eye) i must first go back to new york circa 1789 - 1850 and that shining beacon of corruption, amoral behavior, smut, graft, mayhem, glee, master of the machine. of course i refer to the terribly misunderstood and all around fun guyWilliam M. "Boss" Tweed who lived in a wonderfully happy gumgum drop and fairy filled castle called Tammany Hall on top of a hill
As for Nixon historically being the worst president, we may not know for some time whether Bush is the worst since him and his cronies have been leaving congress and the rest of us out in the cold dark for the past 8 years on what's really been going on behind the curtains. Some people say there is not enough evidence to charge Bush with impeachment, particularly since much of it gets scrapped safely and deleted from the record.
Nixon may still be the worst president, but ONLY because he got caught red-handed and forced to resign.
Once again proving that the most truthful thing you can view on any given day is on Comedy Central.

You sir..are quite the wet blanket...I thought it was friggin hilarious.
I didn't see one tantrum thrown...not one.

Even deleted files can be recovered.
Hopefully the next administration will go after them all for treason.
One thing is an absolute certainty. 99.9% of the American public has no clue whether the Surge preceded the Awakening; nor do they give a rat's ass.
