C&L posted earlier this week about FOX News possibly trying to make McCain look a little younger, well now it appears that the McCain campaign is going out of their way to make John look like a new man---25 years younger or more with this campaign ad.

One Man has the Experience.

One Man has the Courage.

One Man has our Trust.

John McCain for President.

Check out this ad that was picked up off of this article Germany's English  paper called The Local. At the very end there is the above graphic to represent what John McCain looks like.   Hmmmm, looks like a completely different man to me. One that is much younger. Is this running only in foreign markets? I emailed the McCain camp for comment.

Wow...

and the hits just keep on coming

This ad is on 24-7 in Ohio, where I live.

Have you all seen the summer of love McCain ad? OMG. Hilariously bad.

This is just old footage of him when he served. There's no manipulation in that.

I am a big fan of hilariously bad...
do you have a link?

The American public responds more viscerally to superficial visual cues than to qualities like substance and talent.

It was a time of uncertainty, hope and change. The “Summer Of Love.” Half a world away, another kind of love — of country.

John McCain: Shot down. Bayoneted. Tortured. Offered early release, he said, “No.” He’d sworn an oath.
Here's the text to the summer of love McCain ad, but for the true hilarity effect, you have to see the gyrating hippies:

Home, he turned to public service. His philosophy: before party, polls and self … America. A maverick, John McCain tackled campaign reform, military reform, spending reform. He took on presidents, partisans and popular opinion.

He believes our world is dangerous, our economy in shambles. John McCain doesn’t always tell us what we “hope” to hear. Beautiful words cannot make our lives better.

But a man who has always put his country and her people before self, before politics can.

Don’t “hope” for a better life. Vote for one. McCain.

McCains campaign has got back on track. They are once again delivering a simple message that only morons can grasp. The surge ad sounds a lot like the Kerry attack ads that said "he was before it before he was against it".

I can see the race starting to tighten up over the next few weeks. With Obama holding a 70% to 20% lead amoung hispanics, and McCain holding a 99% to 1% lead amoung morons.

If Rove hadn't shot him down over Carolina in the 2000 primaries he'd be president likely now.

mccain and his wife mcc**t drink the blood of the young to stay so themselves.

Geraldo the pool boy is already walking funny.

I didn't say they got it from the neck.

My God, how desperate can they get? I can't believe people will fall for it, then again, I thought Kerry would win in 2004!

The contempt this ad has for the American public is unbelievable! Do they really believe that people will think McCheese is younger simply because they show you footage of him when he was younger? Are they serious? The guy in the ad doesn't even look like McCain...maybe people will think it's a young Bob Barr (now that would be funny!)

P.D. @ 11:

It was a real lesson in "never underestimate the lowest common denominator", wasn't it?

Dahgrostab'ph-r-i@12, Your right. I think people are much smarter( I hope!) now, than they were in 2004. But the level of the attacks from the McCain camp are down right insulting. This ad proves it.

An English language newspaper in Germany would seem to be the perfect vehicle for Fascist propaganda. American fascist propaganda. I actually think the people of Germany are smarter than the average uninformed American. Did Fox produce this schtick?

25 years younger?? Try 45 years younger!

His hair looks kind of funny in the picture, but at least he didn't plaster on the makeup back in the day.

ironic, I have been searching high and low for younger pictures of him so I could make fun of him like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ICuTyoqeKE . but they are hard to come by.

One man has really bad pit stains!

McCain is desperate (and quite pathetic)

McCain camp: Obama shortchanged injured troops

WASHINGTON - Republican John McCain's campaign on Saturday sharply criticized Democratic rival Barack Obama for canceling a visit to wounded troops in Germany, contending Obama chose foreign leaders and cheering Europeans over "injured American heroes."

L.A. Confidential @ 5:

The American public responds more viscerally to superficial visual cues than to qualities like substance and talent.

Why do you reich-wingers "think" you speak for the masses?

I suppose there's nothing wrong with using old footage, but the ending freeze frame should definitely be current.

A bigger issue perhaps: Isn't it against the law to use uniformed personnel for partisan purposes?

If it's too "partisan" for Obama to visit wounded soldiers in an Army hospital, isn't it also too partisan for McCain to use decades-old footage of uniformed third parties?

ldzppln@21, Yeah, McCain's pathetic attempt to use the troops after he had the balls NOT to sign the GI Bill is astonishing! Why can't people see that! Are they that stupid?

...you mean "like a trollop, you c*nt"?

My browser window has just closed 4 times trying to respond to this story. McCain had nothing to do with the summer of love. Young people were rejecting American empire. Unfortunately, the same people in power today were right there in 1975--the same people who are making billions in this administration for contractors in Iraq who are taking our money and killing innocent people. They will do or say anything to keep power. That is exactly what Kerry said in 2004, but nobody heard it.

I sometimes wonder. Is McCain even trying to get elected?

I guess I'll start using my sonogram picture for my drivers license.
I was really hot back then.

I hope they keep running the ad until election day. When I see it, I can't help but think how much OLDER he looks today.

McCain = Bush.

um,, how much lower will the repigs stoop to fool some ´´ppl´´ into thinking hes not older and white haired and still ´´hates gooks´´?

are ppl that dumb in the states??? wait,, dont even bother to tell me,

A 95 year old surgeon, no matter how talented and dedicated he has been in his life, should not be given a scalpel. I think this is the point about McCain --- no matter how dedicated and experienced he is, his pathetic campaign thus far has suggested that he can no longer 'cut' it as president.

These are are the days of lasers in the jungle...A loose association of millionaires and billionaires are running the country (and much of the world) under the guise of an empty suit hologram. They can attenuate his age to marketing tastes.

Don't know if anyone has said it before about this: I don't think FOX wasn't trying to make him appear younger with their mismatched footage, but instead were trying to make him appear able to draw energized crowds (in the 2008 sense, which means more than a woman and a shopping cart).

It's pretty (hilariously) sad that McCain v2008 is so pathetically unable to draw an energized political rally that the GOP Network has to pull file footage and present it as recent.

44, Lillybelle was posting text of an ad that is running in Ohio.

They can only TRY to hide his age for only so long. There will be a real difference in the debates. Obama's height and youth next to McCain's lack of height and age will be a HUGE contrast.

Every time I see this ad, I remember that over half the voters in this election weren't even born when that picture was taken. All this does for me is remind me what an old dude this guy is. And I'm an old dudette.

Mister Anderson @ 49:

The MSM will find a way to make Barack look terrible. They made Al Gore orange, an the dumbass American public made fun of Gore for it.

John McCains's campaign will DO or SAY ANYTHING to go negative on Obama.

They're already LITERALLY balming high gasoline proices on Obama.
McCain, himself, is accusing Obama of being willing to LOSE A WAR in order to win a campaign.
And this week they are starting to assert that the media treats Obama like a SECOND COMING OF JESUS.

Well, they might be right about that last one. Wouldn't that be JUST LIKE GOD... to send Jesus back as an African American who's a DEMOCRAT! WWOD... what would Obama do?

gee they make me proud to be an amerikan...i love nothing more than being treated like i'm a moron.

Even though McCain is a complete piece of shit,
I've got to say (having been in the military myself)
that's the closest thing to a proper salute I've seen
in a long, long, very long time. A real surprise!

The Repubs got their panties in a twist over Obama going to Germany; McCain even chimed in by saying that he'd rather visit them as president instead of a presidential candidate.

So when are they going to bitch about McCain running an ad in a German newspaper? Hypocrisy, anyone?

Time for MoveOn.org to dig out the film on those disasters involving McShotdown during his military career. I'm sure those films would help depict a younger, but no less destructive McDestroy in all his military glory. You know, his assistance in the destruction of ships and planes while being allowed OJT by daddy. Come to think of it, why not show his youth is some of those pictures with his first wife. You know, the one that he shunned for someone younger and, ugh, healthier.

The Obama camp need only to show McIgor in the "maybe a 100 years" pose. I hope I'm not insulting the real Igor from the Frankenstien movies. That Igor is much younger looking than John McIgor.

We just spent the last how many days hearing how awful it was for Obama to be doing public speeches in Germany, that the opinions of the Germans don't matter to *our* U.S. presidential election. So, WTF is with McCain running campaign ads in Germany?

[I know, I know, there are Americans who can vote absentee from Germany, but still, the hypocrisy is just amazing]

One Man has the Hair?!??...wtf..omgzors..lololol.

Someone should show before/after photos of several recent Presidents. I have seen this before, and the differences are startling. Then project McCain's before/after, or even do a split-screen projection between he and Obama. Barack would look like a distinguished seasoned statesman. McCain would look like the 'Mummy'. I really wish someone would do this. I love to see the republicans squirm and scream "foul, dirty politics". It would be bigger than 'Petraeus/Betray-US'. Few things are more joyful, than watching them deal with their dirty tactics used against them. You would not need to be dishonest about it. Just have a skilled forensic anthropologist, which specializes in this work, do the drawings. The results will speak for itself. Obviously the DNC, and/or Obama campaign could not do it. MoveOn would be perfect.

It's like that bucket-off-the-head at the end of Star Wars 6, and you're supposed to think Hayden Christensen somehow turned into a fat and pasty-faced British guy... Two different actors playing Darth McCain, it's confusing, man...

25 years? More like 50.

McNasty was born in 1936, so quite likely actually remembers Pearl Harbour (Dec 1941 would have been big news in naval circles).
He was shot down in 1967, so was pushing mid thirties which is quite old for a combat pilot who need quick reflexes and wits about them.

thirty which is still old for combat.

This is ridiculously hilarious!

August 29th is McCain's 72nd birthday. Happy birthday John, you're not getting any younger

One man has no shot at winning.

John McCain.

I think it's video from way back when he was released from the POW camp. They actually grayed his hair to make him look OLDER. See how thin he is in this video? Could have been shortly AFTER he was released, but at any rate, they did a really POOR job on the hair. Brown in front with gray on sides and top. I had a b&w tv in those days, but color was getting more affordable. Anyway, this IS a younger McCain. But with the equipment available today, they could have just taken him out of an older video, colored that part and put it into a newer video. Do you think it would fool anyone when he's on tv EVERY DAY?

I wonder if McCain pulled ahead in the polls, if the democrats would impeach Bush. Seems they have been laying off that idea because they thought they were going to breeze into office. But I think I could live with McCain if Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rusfeld, and the rest of the cast were all in jail.

I can't see that they'll let Obama win. I have this feeling they are going to steal another election. The media calling the polls close, and there is no way that is reality. I think they need another Republican to hide all the evidence of the guilty war crimes and high crimes of the Bush Legacy. Each month getting crazier than the month before.

WHO IS THAT IN THE AD.... what happened to the loveable old codger who looked like he should be watering someone's lawn....

Gee, I think I'll sign up for a dating service, and submit a photo of myself from when I was 21. Nothing at all misleading about that.

Something must have happended to the video. Why am I not supprised?

As much as Americans hate Bush they hate even more the idea of one of their presidents going to jail, even if he is a monster war criminal and even if they call themselves Democrats. Sad but true and why I plan to expatriate out of a warmongering nation.

I don't think it's lost on younger voters that most of them weren't even the twinkle in their mothers' eyes when "the summer of love" took place. All that does is scream old to me, and I am no spring chicken myself.

The summer of love ad also features a big blowup of his face today so that only 3/4 of it shows. Viewers can't see the big cancer lump on the left side of his face that way. If you don't worry about his policies, worry about his health. And, probably, Mitt Romney a heartbeat away. (She shuddered involuntarily.)

Hmm, both McCain AND Fox News pimping him as younger? Nice coincidence. LOL!

Btw, why is McCain running an ad with a German paper? I thought his campaign made a big deal over the fact that Obama's trip has him spending time with people who can't even vote in our election. Sp then why is McCain running an ad in a German paper whose readers can't even vote here?

If McCain is going to run on his military record, why doesn't he release the tapes he make for the North Viet Nam as a POW? Why isn't the MSM publishing them? Is it because of his father and grandfather? Is McCain the Manchurian candidate?

Just questions

They can't be serious about this ad.

[stunned,yet amused stare]

i'm pretty sure i saw it run on my site. can't be sure. all these pages run together sometimes. but i did see it somewhere. i remember because, of course, it struck me as a very good idea. you see, i'm going to run for local office and use my baby pictures.

my ad will read "it was a time of uncertainty, hope and change. changing diapers, that is. the “diaper of love.”

and in the background will be playing "Barbara Ann" by the beach boys.

i think that will give me juuuust about the same chances as mccain in being elected.

oh hell, i've got to start switching over the auto-fill URL. ::sigh:: all this thought of a young mccain just got my head all crazzzy! woo.

This ad is always on in San Diego. I'm surprised more haven't seen it. I marveled at it the first time. Basically, they are selling America a young McCain. Funny thing is, America might just be stupid enough to buy it. Or at least, some of America.

"One Man has the Experience."

Crashing airplanes, making propaganda videos for the enemy, adultery, dumping your family, and influence-peddling are the experience needed to become president?

Never under estimate the ignorant and simple minded voter in the good old USA , they are many and are no smarter and are no more " enlightened " now than they were when they cast their vote for Bush ( and the Republicans ) the first time , combine these voters and a corporate media who just cringe at the thought of Obama winning and MCcain , another Republican , could well be our next president . Are " we " that stupid ? Yes we are .
