Scott Ritter, Seymour Hersch, and a host of other experts and those in the know think Israel and the right wing radicals that have hijacked our country will win and the Bush administrative will attack Iran especially if Israel is successful with their regime change agenda in the middle east. Justin Raimando at anti war.com reminds us that rational calculations do not play into their radical and murderous reasoning. It does not matter to them how many people die or how U.S. national security is undermined

The War Party's Credo: Power Before Profits
Why the left's analysis of imperialism is inadequate

You'll recall that, prior to the outbreak of the war, several of our military leaders raised logistical and other technical objections: the proposed invasion force wasn't big enough, an extended deployment would put a major strain on our military machine, and eventually the whole thing would begin to break down. Rumsfeld – he of the magical "transformation" of the US military – shut them up, and forced the worst offenders – notably Gen. Eric Shinseki – into retirement. The "over-extension" argument didn't deter the Bushies then, and there is no reason to believe it will now.

As for the supposed ascendancy of the "realists" in Washington: I wouldn't bet the ranch on this alleged victory of Reason over Blood & Iron. The neocons have come from behind, more than once, to win another day, and, this time, they have an overseas ally – Israel. That ally couldn't act unilaterally against Saddam Hussein: they had to depend on the US to make the first move. They could only lobby – quietly – on the sidelines. This time, however, things are quite different: the Israelis have declared Iran's nonexistent nuclear weapons program to be an "existential threat" to the survival of the Jewish state, and have practically announced their intention to strike if we fail to do so. Such a strike would certainly provoke a furious response on many fronts, including in Iraq, and this would doubtless drag in the US as Israel's co-combatant.

It was quite refreshing to hear Obama say, "Success in Iraq is not going to look like victory in any other war we have fought. No one is going to surrender to us. Success in Iraq is going to be when the Iraqis have taken back their own country and American forces have left, other than those few forces still helping to train Iraqi troops," or words to that effect.

I've got some friends with dual citizenship in a European nation. They're currently looking into getting their passport/citizenship status updated in case a depression breaks out.

(Mind you they originally got the dual citizenship back in the 70's during the gas crisis.)

Only downside is that I can't join them because there are residency requirements now. hehe...

i think its worth mentioning that they first lied us into attacking afganistan with the promiss of going after bin ladden and alkida , when they had no intention of getting bin ladden just setting up a springboard for invadeing iraq, both wars were bogus , if thats the case and i know it is, whats in it for us to allow obama to widen the war in afganistan? if your against the occupation of iraq you cant be for more war in afganistan or if you are why? even if bin ladden were alive he wouldnt be stupid enough to stay in afganistan and the freedom fighters fighting against us there are not all alkida, pull our troops out and send them home alive!

At least 10 weeks ago I was saying that the Republican sound machine with the help of the corporate media are going to keep repeating over and over again that the surge was a huge success until it becomes excepted truth by the general population. I was hearing it repeated from every direction no matter how many times the truth was told. No matter how many times people would point out the mission of the surge and how by all accounts it did not complete all the most important parts of the mission. The right wing simply revised the history of what the mission was in the first place and used the new history to match the surge. The right wing fascists are very very good at it and are very close to success.

Fucking up foreign policy (even a war) against public approval is not enough to bring down a political philosophy. Destroying people economically and with an "in your face suck it up" attitude is. The neoclowns are most likely going down. Brought down by their own greed, and its results - the dying middle class.
