Helping Darcy Burner
By bluegal Thursday Jul 31, 2008 8:00pm
You may remember Darcy Burner, the Blue America candidate for Congress in Washington State's Eighth District. She lost her house to fire earlier this summer.
She stands AGAINST telecom immunity, the Iraq war, and pharmacist interference in birth control prescriptions. You can read more about her here.
Darcy is within two poll points of her incumbent opponent, who has had fundraisers with Newt Gingrich, John Boehner, and yeah, George Bush himself. That last one might kinda backfire, we're thinking.
Help a Blue America candidate out if you can...

Will do.
Seconded. I wish her the best for sure.
I'm outside her district. Darn it.
I'm not in her district but sent a token as well a post on my blog. Best of luck.
I like these posts bluegal. Thanks.
Not to threadjack, but where can a codemonkey like myself get that kickass shirt she's wearing?
On topic: Darcy's got all the moral support I can give her. I wish she were a candidate in my state/district.
I know Darcy's district well as I serviced a bunch of accounts there for a landscaping outfit when I was in Seattle. It is very strange, wild gaudy affluence on vivid display like some nightmarish imposition of the most awful aspects of Southern California.
But yet the help has to live there too and probably do outnumber the Looters so if they can be roused from their torpor and actually hit the polls it could be ugly for Reichert, a crypto xtian creep whose main fame claim was prosecuting a serial killer. The epicenter is Bellvue with more ridiculousness up in Kirkland and a bit more in Issaquah. Oh and how can we forget Redmond. There is a stultifying banality to the affluence and the ostentatious gigantism is frightening.
It will be an interesting race and she should get an extra helping of support from all over to offset whatever cash Reichert rakes in. They say hell is a personal thing and a gaudy car dependent panoply of stultifyingly dull affluence with no sense of core, just isolation, would be close to my idea of it.
It will be very important to have good ground operations and that will be tough because these are people with a guilty fondness for maximum anonymity and a very busy cosmetic surgery sector to keep the trophy wives in good trim.
I'm going to be sending a bit...
BTW, anyone know where I can find that t-shirt?
Against telecom immunity?
Hurray! I hope she wins.
After much searching (most results refer to Darcy's T-shirt!) I present this:
An End War XML shirt
It's also in the link box
Thanks Adam! Cheers!
Mailed her a small check last Monday. I'll see if I can do more but it is not easy in my financial situation.
Adam,
My thanks also...
thanks for posting about her Bluegal...she is a good person running against scum...and that Fire could not have happened at a worse time...
Her house was burned down by Zionist Hoodlums.
Burner is running in a red area of Washington State. Bellevue, Redmond, Mercer Island, Kirkland. These are where the Microsoft multi millionaires live and have benefitted greatly by George W. Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy. They aren't going to give up on Reichert. Greed that the wealthy aspire too is never given up. They will fight tooth and nail to hang onto their lifestyle of priviledge. The tipping point occurred years ago. The transfer of what little the middle class had been able to accumulate has been completely made to the wealthy. You would think that the wealthy would be satisfied with 5 houses, 3 yachts, endless vacations, etc. but their greed never ends. These greedy wealthy are making sure that nothing is trickling down to these peasants. They also know that the peasants are so poorly educated that they will never know what is going on.
I must to be the only person posting here that actually lives in the 8th congressional district and will vote in this race. It so happens I worked at MSFT as a peer of Darcy when she worked there.
Neat shirt, but lame dame. Most of us who worked with her found Darcy to be marginally competent and typical of a certain type who starts new projects or programs, then split as things under her responsibility area went south just before higher ups realized what was happening.
Needless to say, she won't have my vote. Not a big Dave R fan, but know Darcy well enough to vote for ANY other candidate except her.
And by the way - 95% of the 80,000 people who work at MSFT are not millionaires and ARE the middle class. Before MSFT, I worked for Apple about 5 yrs, currently live in a 1973 home in the 8th district for 16 yrs raising two middle class kids and working hard p/check to p/check to put both through state college now. But reading the ill informed comments on this blog motivates me to get out the checkbook for Dave R.
