Pakistan is talking a little impeachment of their own.

"ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistan's ruling coalition said Thursday it would seek the impeachment of President Pervez Musharraf, alleging the U.S.-backed former general had "eroded the trust of the nation" and increasing pressure on him to resign."

Col. Lang makes a good point. If bush is not guilty he should be given a chance to clear his name. Under those conditions you would think that's what bush would want to do if he isn't guilty.

exactly, this is not a left-right issue. this is an american-unamerican issue.

Scandalous

The Obama campaign tried to run ads on gas pumps.  They purchased the time and space, and then the gas stations rejected the ads because they attacked oil companies and John McCain.

Where's no no nancy when you need her, right dumbya?

I think that the public would like to hear from Ivin's attorney. We want to hear the other side of the story.

Creationists have to be the most willfully ignorant people on the face of the planet...right after republicans.

My favorite part of the Irvin story is that he was 'obsessed with Kappa Kappa Gamma' and in Princeton NJ there was a chapter near the infamous mailbox. That ranks with N.Korea stopping going nuclear for the liqueurs.

I agree. I want to hear the defense. The story has so many bizarre things added to it and I want to know why and if any are true.

If Hatfill had killed himself back when they were trying to pin it on his, would they have closed the case then?

Holy shit...that's child abuse!

As far as Ivins goes the only thing I believe is that he was framed and probably murdered to keep him from fighting back.

Here's an NPR piece that has some comments from Ivins lawyer

as i posted there, there's never, ever going to be any accountability because madame speaker is complicit in their crimes. any congressional investigation would reveal the extent of her duplicity and likely, several other democratic members of congress.

oh, and, guess who first introduced extraordinary rendition into the lexicon -- bill clinton.

but, ultimately, if there was a serious threat of bush/cheney et al being investigated and impeached, president barack obama would never be allowed to cross the white house threshold.

Excellent points about the anthrax case. Thanks for staying on it C&L. This is really bad stuff that's coming out and I have seen several bloggers do a great job of eviscerating the media's false coverage.

Religious beliefs to trump health care. Now that would be a good idea if cheney would set an example. He should get rid of that pace maker and refuse to be rushed to the hospital for any heart condition. Pray. That's what he should do. And oh maybe bush could have prayed that his knee healed automatically and give his medicine back...yes that would be a darn good example for the bush administration to set....pray instead of taking medicine.

I like that article on nuclear power plants. Not only will they take a very long time to come online, and are expensive and difficult to maintain but they would probably require a massive amount of environmental oversight as well. There will also be heavy fights over where to put them as well as other legal issues that will further hinder their construction. Needless to say though, nuclear power plants will only work with a portion of America's energy needs. True, they can provide massive amounts of electricity as well as other energy but American commerce doesn't operate on that type of energy. American commerce (I.E. trucking) operates on fuel derived from oil which nuclear power won't have much of an effect on. To put McCain's plan into action the entire American infrastructure and even culture will have to be revamped which would probably take generations to do.

Get ready for a McLame's trolls.

On McCain's Web site, visitors are invited to "Spread the Word" about the presumptive Republican nominee by sending campaign-supplied comments to blogs and Web sites under the visitor's screen name. The site offers sample comments ("John McCain has a comprehensive economic plan . . .") and a list of dozens of suggested destinations, conveniently broken down into "conservative," "liberal," "moderate" and "other" categories. Just cut and paste.

They can go ahead and start denying me health care based on their beliefs so long as they understand I no longer have to help, serve or acknowledge religious idiots based on my non-belief.
"Sorry ma'am we don't serve idiots who can't grasp the concepts of evolution and basic science." Sounds good to me.

How George and Dick Destroyed America in Under 8 Years.

George bush (lower case intended) is erasing the hard work of the Really Great Men of America.

People like John Adams, George Washington, Ben Franklin, Alexander Hamilton etc. put their lives at risk to make this country free from the yoke of ....... ready ?......
The Tyrannous King George.

That struggle was in the 1770's.

In November The people of the United States will once more be in that same struggle with their champion Barack Obama and the Democratic Party to wrestle another king george ( lower case ) to once again gain our Liberty from another Tyrannous man.

This struggle is is one that will never end. That people in power will continues to try to take away our rights in the interests of gaining more power is a Cold, Hard Fact and we must remember it or be doomed to repeat this struggle forever.

John McCain will continue with george's methodology.

Just thought that was an interesting bit of fact.

The second scenario makes the govt. complicit?

That Bush Administration proposal to "Deny Federal Money if Employees Must Provide Care to Which They Object" is very scary indeed. The highly religious always attempt to frame the issue around two topics that they object to. One is abortion and the other is contraception. Both, are the sole responsibility of the patient in my opinion.  After all, it is their bodies that we are talking about.  With that being said, who is to say that a religious health practitioner won't go further with their religious beliefs and deny other forms of medicine that they object to as well.  What if a male doctor refuses to do a testicle exam on a male patient simply because he finds it repugnant and the man eventually passes on because he had testicular cancer that went undetected and untreated?  The Bush Administration seems to think that the beliefs of the highly religious are shared by all when in fact there are always individual differences.  This proposal will force health care centers to support all beliefs that health practitioners may hold even if they are immorally, criminally, or unethically sound.  That proposal is very dangerous.

I first read the Rolling Stone article (without a prayer) on Alternet. It was/is comically entertaining. Loved it. Thanks for posting this.

So much religious dogma, so little time . . .

I'm Catholic and barring some unforseen catastophe I'm voting for Obama. The reverence for life that is a large component of the Catholic faith mandates voting for the candidate that will put an end to these wars and prevent the country from entering yet another.

As far as health care is concerned, leave the sermonizing and moralizing in the church. I see a doctor, pharmacist, nurse practioner for medical care and unless these types of care are outright illegal, then they can shut the hell up.

On a related note (healthcare and not religion): Morro Bay pot dispensary owner found guilty of federal charges http://www.latimes.com/news/science/la-me-pot6-2008aug06,0,4149356.story and faces up to 85 years in prison. "Lynch's lawyers told jurors that their client had the blessing of elected officials in Morro Bay before opening his Central Coast Compassionate Caregivers, and they argued that he was he was told by a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration official that he would avoid prosecution as long as he obeyed local laws. But jurors rejected that argument."

Did anybody bother to read Greg Palast? Here's what I found!!!
n swing-state Colorado, the Republican Secretary of State conducted the biggest purge of voters in history, dumping a fifth of all registrations. Guess their color.

In swing-state Florida, the state is refusing to accept about 85,000 new registrations from voter drives – overwhelming Black voters.

In swing state New Mexico, HALF of the Democrats of Mora, a dirt poor and overwhelmingly Hispanic county, found their registrations disappeared this year, courtesy of a Republican voting contractor.

In swing states Ohio and Nevada, new federal law is knocking out tens of thousands of voters who lost their homes to foreclosure.

Oh woe is me!

NOOOOOO! WAIT WAIT WAIT...

VOTER FRAUD is the most common kind of election cheating.
Not vote theft, or suppression.
It's individuals, trying to vote--Spics and Chinks and now all those Hajis and ragheads...
It has nothing to do with one party putting up roadblocks to stop members of the other party from voting.
This is Murka. In Murka, nobody'd EVER do dat...The franchise is SACRED!@!!

I know, cuz the GHOPukes tell me so...

Palast does some great work.

I used to think so as well but I'm now leaning towards the "intelligent design" theory slightly reinterpreted to be the "not so intelligent design" or "NOID" theory. Which goes: Prior to man all life was in harmony. Sea life coexisted with land based life and the natural order thrived for eons. Things changed and life adapted but all in a natural harmony. And then man. But how could a natural order suddenly produce a life form that has been so disruptive? It doesn't make sense. There must have been some interference with the cycle that had existed for millions of years. Conclusion: It was the cast-out-of-Eden event. God said "let them eat cake" and cast down homo-sapiens (the saps) to earth. What the beef he had with earth was I can't imagine. So the ignorami have it partially right but the design was dumb and seems to be getting dumber.
