Russian news agency "War between Russia and Georgia orchestrated from USA"

McCain obtained an Arizona marriage license on March 6, 1980, while still legally married to his first wife.

Yes, because quoting the equivalent of the National Enquirer is such a reliable source. :rolleyes.: Did you feed the Batboy under your bed?

Summertime, and tent revivals have come to the Hill! Thanks for the link.

The McSame election strategy is simple: Give every WHITE person in the USofA a plausible reason NOT to vote for Obama.

They do NOT want to recruit Obama voters. They want to give them "reasons" to stay home or, if they can't keep 'em home, at least skip the top race on the ballot.

I'd hazard a guess that, in consequence of that strategy, "undecided" Dims will INCREASE in number as the 'election' approaches.

It states what the Russian news agency is saying. I've heard that Georgia has backing by both Israel and the U.S. I'm not sure who provoked the conflict, but I'd be interested in your analysis of the situation to go along with your criticism.

My analysis...

Lessee...

South Ossetia has effectively attempted to secede from Georgia for about 15 years, strongly backed by Russia. The Georgian government knows that in a serious fight, no matter how sucky the Russian army is, Russia could bury them in bodies, both Russian and Georgian, and still will. Georgia's president wanted to do what any national leader would do, regain secessionist regions like Abkhazia and Ossetia. So...along comes the Olympics with the world seemingly not watching, but with Russia with a paranoid leader who was doing a good deal to provoke Georgia already for the last 15 years. In an act of desperation, he attempts recdivism...only to fail to do it before the Russian bear starts clawing at him.

The US is a Georgian ally, to be certain...but Georgia would have been utterly stupid not to find some sort of formidable ally (neither Turkey nor Iran can really stop Russia), and after years of the USSR-USA rivalry, Uncle Sam was the best bet, particularly considering European states could not be bothered to do a damn thing in Yugoslavia, much less some "faraway country of which we know nothing."

This situation is more complex than it's made out to be.

this is such a huge story... of course you wouldn't know that from the scant msm coverage (although calling it 'scant' is charitable).

if not for rawstory and other similar sights there would be a near news-blackout of the confession. yet, edward's shame is given top-billing.

some things never change

It is a big story...but then we've basically ignored much bigger stories for quite some time (the War in the Congo and the civil war in Mexico, just for two examples.)

The conflict has been sparked by the race for control over the pipelines carrying oil and gas out of the Caspian region.

I wrote about the antichrist thing too: I called it the Steath Antichrist Campaign.

My older post titled IS BARACK OBAMA THE ANTICHRIST gets about 50-100 hits a day, not a lot, but a steady stream of non-repeats. Especially after Obama went to Berlin... something about that trip really set the fundies off. It may actually BE a scene in LEFT BEHIND (i.e. antichrist gives razzle-dazzle speech in Berlin).

This is pretty effective dog-whistling, and I don't expect them to let up. I AM happy the mainstream media is finally waking up to this under-the-radar stuff, which I have been hearing about locally (here in lovely BJU land!) for months now.

I don't know if these blog roundup things are considered open threads or not, but I've gotta say RIP Bernie Mac. Dude meant a lot more to me than George Carlin.

Not entirely germaine to the posts, but I hope somebody savvier than I would build a series of major campaign positions on this information:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/fy2009/sheets/hist01z1.xls
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_debt_by_U.S._presidential_terms
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jobs_created_during_U.S._presidential_terms

Granted, the wiki articles need to be vetted, but the numbers are "interesting." So who is the fiscal conservative again? And what do you mean by "tax and spend liberal?"

Don't forget that many high ranking republicans endorsed Arnold Schwarzenegger ( a celebrity) for President less than a year after and just because he won the governorship of california.

Georgia decided to try the Bush Doctrine. I suppose they thought hey the U.S. is behind us lets reek some havoc.

Russia is sending another message.

'John McCain is a sleazy liar."

You got that right... Hopefully he's being exposed as that too. Time for WE THE PEOPLE to wake up from our consumer-based, overfed state of apathy to realize just what's going on in our own backyard, so to speak.

Cool.

Georgia, and especially the oil port of Suhkumi, are vital links in the network of oil supplies from the trans-caspian.

From Sukhumi, oil flows in tankers across the Black Sea, into Bulgaria, thence through KOSOVO (right under Camp Bondsteel) and on to Europe.

Sukhumi is part of that region of Georgia which the Russians are trying to pry away from the Georgians.

It's all about oil. Russia has re-assumed its place of prominence in European affairs because about 60% of all the fuel burned in Europe comes from Russia.

Look at a map of the region, from the Caspian to the Balkans, and it ALL makes perfect sense...

An aside: I cannot comprehend the inability/unwillingness of folks to consult maps...just sayin

This situation is more complex than it's made out to be.

Indeed it is. A few paragraphs in a weblog is seldom enough space for a definitive explanation for conflicts between nations. I was in Georgia last summer about this time. I got a two-day explanation. Does the US back Georgia with arms and money? Hell yes. They have a street named "George Bush Boulevard" in Tbilisi. Does Putin play Bush like a piano? Hell yes. My guide couldn't understand my utter disdain Bush. He's revered in Georgia. Your initial criticism was that LG&M used a quote from a Russian news agency. They claimed that the US backs Georgia. That is true. Now the complaint is insufficient depth in the piece. Hard to please, aintcha?

After 15 years of Russia basically laying a secessionist province on a table and daring Georgia to try to reclaim what's rightfully Georgia's? Hell, no, the shadiness applies to both sides in this war.

Russia lost that pre-eminence because of the bastardliness of their previous times of it...see "Imperial Russia," and "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics." This is nothing but a Russian equivalent of Iraq, and the reaction of the world to Uncle Sam doing this should have clued Putin in that the Russian Bear doesn't get away with it without diplomatic troubles either.

In Alice's wonderland all is not what it seems, in fact, there's something REALLY ROTTEN in that U.S. state of Denmark (check Shakespeare)! And instead of spreading/spinning all the MSM McCain/Obama Bull-Shit, Crooks & Liars could/should do better, much more & better, with respect to content and the real issues wich are at stake in the 3 months left to the election! Before you know it we might call C & L a 'FOXY-BLOG', or a 'BLOG-FOX', and I'm sure that's not the meaning of life!

" If you can make one heap of all your winnings, and risk it on one turn of pitch and toss, and lose, and start again at your beginnings, and never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew, to serve your turn long after they are gone, and so hold on when there is nothing in you; Except the WILL wich say's to them : HOLD ON!"

SLIP-SLIDING AWAY?! (Paul Simon)

...and now, a word from the anti-christ: "how can obama be the anti-christ, when I am the ANTI-CHRIST! there can only be ONE anti-christ, and besides, he seems to want to help people!" me, i want chaos and death.
