Unfortunately the GOP, MSM and the neocons are sure going to try to buy it for him.

If we elect John McCain, we can look forward to more wars.

Here's another great "Obama" ad by someone not associated with the Obama camp, but who should be.

Now, this is cutting a bit closer to the bone and giving Republicans a taste of their own medicine.

Now that's a fine piece of work. Just the facts ma'am, just the facts.

I'd donate to get that puppy on coast to coast.

Obama may not save us but McCain will surely lead us down the final leg of destruction. Chose your poison kids, it's really that simple.

Love it! I made sure to post it on my Facebook page!

i posted this on the previous thread, but it really belongs here... so, i apologize for the repeat. but, i think it is an interesting stat that deserves another walk around the block, imo

"Democrat Barack Obama has received nearly six times as much money from troops deployed overseas at the time of their contributions than has Republican John McCain"

"That's shocking. The academic debate is between some who say that junior enlisted ranks lean slightly Republican and some who say it's about equal, but no one would point to six-to-one" in Democrats' favor, said Aaron Belkin, a professor of political science at the University of California who studies the military. "That represents a tremendous shift from 2000, when the military vote almost certainly was decisive in Florida and elsewhere, and leaned heavily towards the Republicans."

I think that's a little mean-spirited. We're better than that. Let's leave the missus out of it, since the hubby seems capable of losing this election in a landslide all by himself.

Not sayin' it couldn't happen, but it probably won't.

But here's how you'll know if you're right: keep your eyes on the National Enquirer. You might think it a disreputable scandal sheet, but you'd only be half right. NE has a large, well paid legal staff that keeps the rag from running stories that might cost it dearly. If the story doesn't appear there, it will be discredited quickly. Major media outlets won't touch a story like that if it hasn't gone through the NE's filter first.

Sure looks like McGramps is gaffing his way right into the White House. Just like W did...twice. Of course, McGramps has the added bonus of having Diebold and the supreme court on his side.

It's a good thing we have an open and transparent government, otherwise we would be in trouble.

hello--i am quasi-internet apt, but this is beyond my capabilities. so here is an idea i give to anyone who thinks it could work and would run with it. i have seen a lot of killer obama/anti-mccain ads around the net, independents like this one and the graph one of bush/mccain approval, and i thought it would be wonderful if there were some site where they could all be gathered. then, people could make contributions to the site for the ad they liked, and when there was enough money, an actual ad buy could be made (on the teevee and everything) where these popularly-selected videos could play some number of times.
what do you think? would this work? is it legal? could this be somebody's subset, like actblue?

Helluva leap there.

Female gymnasts have been on the young side for decades now. Someone realized that 13-15 year-old females don't get any stronger, but they do tend to get heavier. There needn't be performance enhancing drugs used to make this gymnast as strong as a 19 year-old. She's already that strong.

Wow... someone is bitter about Canada's drought of medals so far...

Legally they have to be 16!

It might not be obvious why being younger would be an advantage in a highly perfectionistic, skill-driven sport like gymnastics.

After all, the younger athletes have had less time to refine their skills.

But gymnastics in its current athleticized form rewards lightness and a low center of gravity. Smaller girls rotate more easily in the air.

Their bodies are also less subject to the hormonal changes that can lead to injury. And the prepubescent tend, quite simply, to be more fearless.

No, tire inflation doesn't net as much gas as drilling

.....
But we also figure that expanded offshore drilling is projected to produce far more oil eventually than can be saved by proper tire inflation – nearly three times as much even by the conservative estimate of government experts, and more than 10 times as much if an industry-endorsed estimate is correct. And even taking into account additional fuel savings from tune-ups, which Obama also mentioned, he greatly exaggerated.

But for the sake of argument, even if one assumed that another 1 billion gallons of fuel could be saved each year from proper tune-ups – and again, we've seen no evidence to support that idea – the combination of tire pressure and tune-ups wouldn't equal in savings what the government expects from increased offshore production once it reaches a peak. And it would be only a small fraction of what ARI and the NPC expects.

All I have to say is people who think that driving with under inflated tires are stupid.
Anyone who's been driving for more that 1 year can tell you it's beneficial to gas mileage to keep your tires properly inflated.
Not to mention the safety issues.

Obviously, a lot of people have made a lot of sacrifices for the sake of freedom, but since he's such a fan of the hate radio shows ("listening to Limbaugh is the only way I can get the TRUTH!") that I'm thinking that shirt must be symbolic of something else for some neocon group. Jim Webb, D-Va., it's the biggest expansion of the bill in the past quarter-century, according to the New York Times. But it has also been opposed by, among others, President Bush and presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain.

Well, personally, I have a hard time accepting at face value anything said by
"government experts" AND "industry endorsed" organization as to what their

from "industry endorsed" companies...like maybe Oil/Gas Industry??

Anyone who's been driving for more that 1 year can tell you it's beneficial to gas mileage to keep your tires properly inflated.
Not to mention the safety issues.
Why do some people resist change ? We need to get away from oil as our main source of energy. No?

Hey, mudshark. Honestly, I've never read or heard anyone say it's not beneficial to keep your tires inflated. The issue was always whether or not doing that would be enough that we wouldn't need to drill, or that Obama's suggestion would net the same amount as drilling would. I admit, and the FactCheck article states it as well, that McCain overstated what Obama said, that that was Obama's entire energy policy- it wasn't- but I never heard him or anyone say it wasn't a good idea not to keep your tires inflated or to ignore Obama's Public Service Announcement on tire pressure and tune-ups.

And yeah, I'm with you on getting away from oil as much as we can.

Rep. Sali: There ‘Could Be Up To Forty Barrels Of Oil In A Single Tree’

Rep. Bill Sali (R-ID), who is participating in the GOP’s ongoing “Drill Now” energy stunt, has a unique idea about how to bring down gas prices: extracting oil from trees. In a meeting in his Capitol Hill office, Sali reportedly told a candidate for Idaho’s House of Representatives, Byron Yankey, that there “‘could be up to 40 barrels of oil‘ in a single tree.”

She's just a younger Leona Helmsley, and needs to get the full treatment...

Both rich and like their cosmetics, but the stories are quite different. For crimes, McCain stole some drugs to feed her habit, Helmsley scrimped on paying some small fraction of her tax bill. Helmsley is dead, after all that stress of going to prison, at her age, it's no surprise. Helmsley was more like Martha Stewart, she worked.

I'd be surprised if that was true. Money bought dumbya the white house. I'm sure it will get mcstain where he wants to go as well.

You are right. It is global policy set by the elite that we live under. Washington is owned, and it is only a shadow government of a much larger corrupt organization that truly operates the world. The recent skirmish in Georgia for instance is all about natural gas pipelines and ownership thereof. Russia vs. U.S. Once you understand the concept of peak oil, you will understand everything that has happened since the mid 1990's. Like the scientist Hubbard predicted back in the '70's...we will hit peak oil and we have already...as predicted. It's kind of like siphoning a gas tank. It flows with force at first, then starts to peter out. The world's oil supply is petering out. He also predicted the outcome of peak oil...which is what we are experiencing today. Global conflicts, food shortages, water shortages, etc. etc. The global elite plan is for taking it all...regardless of the country it comes from. It is a ruthless policy to grab what remains. The U.S. is very unwise to invest in oil. Its time has ended. If we are to remain a super power we must find alternative energy sources. This endless game of wars and false flags will be our doom.

FactCheck.org

So... keeping your tires inflated and your car in tune is a bad idea? Is that what you're saying, lil' d? If not, what ARE you saying?

I don't get it. Is Fact Check saying that Oil production will last forever? Because Tire inflation and tuneups lasts for as long as cars exist. Is Fact Check saying that Oil production will arrive immediately? Because tire inflation will have 10 years worth of savings in the bank before offshore drilling even begins production. Is Fact Check saying that Oil production will catch up to all the savings from Tire Inflation over those years, pass it, and then last forever?

I just want to be clear about what Fact check is saying here. Taking the numbers from both Tire Inflation and Oil production and putting them side by side as if they would both start immediately and both last indefinitely would be kind of dishonest.

It Is All In How You Word It

There is one fact that hinders the argument the above is trying to make: Inflating tires will bring immediate results while drilling is a hit and mis unknown that kicks in 10 years from now.

In addition to the above, I have found that Factcheck.org patronizes a sense of balance. It tries to find fault when there is none, and in doing so minimizes the truth. Instead of saying this argument is hard to settle because drilling represents an unknown quantity, they presented the argument as if what has not been found has been found. No statement about quantity is legitimate in this case.

This is a really stupid argument. Of course keeping your car tuned and your tires properly inflated is a good idea. Of course it saves gas. Handing over more leases to the oil companies is not going to do a damn thing for 10 years and even then won't lower the price of gas by any noticeable margin. The republicans - working with the oil companies, are clearly trying to bamboozle the American people into thinking that giving the oil companies what they want will lower the price of their gas. It's a sham. I believe that many answers to the high gas prices can be found with information as to what went on in the 2001 "behind closed door" energy meetings with the oil execs in Cheney's office.

I often check the U.S. National Debt Clock (found here http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/ )

Today it's at $9,601,058,664,975.20

The estimated population of the United States is 304,543,065
so each citizen's share of this debt is $31,526.11.

Since I last reported it (6 months ago??), you each owe another $1,500 a piece (per American, not per family.) It's up about $700,000,000,000, since then, too.
