Sean Hannity's buddy says McCain's wealth comes from organized crime
"And from Jerome Corsi, a source exalted by FOX's Sean Hannity, no less (he's also the guy who wrote the anti-Obama book that's being hailed on the right). I mean, if Sean Hannity thinks this guy is credible, then who am I to judge when Sean Hannity's credible source says that McCain made his money off of organized crime. That's the mafia, folks. Scary. No wonder McCain has such a temper."

fecund!
Bush's wealth comes from Nazi Germany as far as I've heard. Grandpa Bush dealt with banking and financing over there and ended up being charged with dealing with the enemy and trying to overthrow the American Government. BBC Source
Darkblack is a great site. And Canadian too, eh ? Most excellent.
I had trouble accessing C&L today. I hate it when that happens !
McCain campaign has ties to Al Qaeda, so says Mary Matalin's buddy
"The Republicans have embraced a crazy person and now his past ramblings are coming back to haunt them. This is the guy who authored the anti-Obama book. The guy who Dick Cheney's aide, Mary Matalin, says is a great great great guy."

Interesting 27 minute interview by Stephen Spoonamore, former CEO of Cybrinth, on Electronic Election Systems and how easily hackable Diebold machines are and how in fact they are designed to be able to do so. Stunning. Shocking. Saddening. What has become of us... http://www.velvetrevolution.us/prosecute_rove/images/Spoon_Full.wmv
Goes along well with Clinton Curtis's testimony. He was a computer programmer in Florida during that crap.

There is something wrong with McCain's mental health, No one wants to say it out loud but McCain has a big problem remembering facts.
What a POS that cheesy monitor is.
But, I'm a Mac snob.

John McCain displays traits of Alzheimer's and Amnesia. It's sad, but our Country is too important for this type of idiocy.

Pastor Warren, the host of last night's forum was just on CNN. In an interview with Rick Sanchez the pastor admitted McCain was not even at the Church for the first half hour of the event. This admission comes as a surprise to those of us who watched the event and were told many times that McCain was at the Church and in isolation.
CNN says they talked to McCain's camp and they said no one in his camp was listening. The honor system, are you kidding me?
I think it is pretty clear at this point McCain did indeed know the questions in advance.

McCain was coached before the event on how to answer.

Hello....it's China.
A day or two ago - Michael Moore posted his opinions on Michaelmoore.com about how the dems can help McCain win. One thing he said was that Obama should keep praising McCain's military service if Obama wants to help McCain become the next president. I guess Obama didn't see what Michael Moore said or he thought it wasn't sarcasm. Here is a quote from today's headline stories :
"...Obama stepped to McCain's defense when a voter criticized his Vietnam era record. A Naval aviator, McCain spent 5 ½ years as a prisoner of war there after being shot down and badly wounded.
Respectfully I'm going to disagree with you on McCain and his service," Obama said. "I think his service was honorable. He deserves respect."
Also McCain and Obama hugged.
I'm convinced that McCain will be the next president even if his senile dimentia gets much worse over the next two months. Why am I sure about this ? Because the democrats and Obama don't understand that Americans are the most arrogant, hateful, stupid people in the world. The repubs know it and McCain will be the next president. Obama will win the election by a little bit, but the repubs will say, "JUST TAKE IT !! WE'RE TAKING THE PRESIDENCY !! GO ! GO ! GO ! BULLY ALL THE TV STATIONS INTO ANNOUNCING THAT JOHN MCCAIN HAS WON ! JUST DO IT !!" That is what will happen. The American people are too uneducated and apathetic to take action. The small percentage that do protest will be labeled as extremists and put into FEMA concentration camps (for everyone's safety).
By the way McCain is handling the Georgia -Russia war so presidentially well. He's upstaging Bush. Somebody , tell Obama to praise McCain's actions regarding the Russia problem. It's the polite thing to do. Who is Obama you ask ? Don't you remember?? That super-polite candidate that lost to Pres. McCain in the 2008 pres. election.

i agree but think thier will be no mccain presidency as such, thier will be much widespread violence across america and martial law will be the order of the day and it will end any more elections, pack a picknic lunch youll need it!
Frank Lee Speekin @ 16:
On video?
It pisses me off but doesn't surprise me that the event was fixed last night.
Another interesting thing about last night was the McCain's "Cross In The Dirt" Story.
"As he tells it today, it was the pivotal moment in his struggle to survive in the Hanoi Hilton. And yet, in his first thorough account of his time in captivity, in 1973, the story is absent."
Ron @ 18:
If you are coached through a quiz in college just before the test you are going to max out the test since the relative answers are already fresh in your head. McCain had the general idea of how he needed to answer all prepared. When he got the list of questions he just needed to focus on the ones he did not prepare for and rehearse on these before the event.
Personally, I think this mega-church meeting is irrelevant in the scheme of things. Obama is never going to sway most of the type of people who would watch or attend anyway.
More important, though, is the sudden (and shocking...*shocking,* I say) fomenting of violence world wide. Kashmir is now blowing up. (Sorry, don't have a link.) All of this plays straight into Johnnie McFlightsuit's hands. Coincidence?
DC @ 23:
All of the queations were framed around right wing talking points, also.
Janet @ 22:
Yeah, the original Solzhenitsyn story "The Gulag Archipelago" was published in '73 and McCain is not unaware of Solzhenitsyn's writing.
At this point what could anyone possibly see in mccain?
My only guess is that he'll try to keep the tax cuts going (before bankrupting the government), keep the war going, and do little else to help lower and middle class Americans.
But as president? I have to believe even most repiglicans will be holding their noses on election day.
Questions ... About the Iraq war, how much should we continue to pay?
McCain: My Friends, after I was captured and tortured by the Vietnamese I was kept in a box and they only left me out for an hour a day.
Question: But how much longer do we need to be there?
McCain: My friends, one time when they let me out of the box while i was a prisoner of war held in a box, it was christmas and a guard drew a cross on the ground my friends and we ...
Question: Will we have to keep a force in Iraq for a very long time?
McCain: My friends, they used to tie my hands behind my back and force my head down, it hurt, not comfortable...and they offered my an early release, blah blah blah blah ....my friends, blah blah blah, my service to my country, blah blah blah.
I served in two conflicts, Nam and Korea, don't like to go there.
But I'd like to say that I am sick to death of this asshole evading questions by hiding behind his so called heroism. He lost his planes, he was captured. We all know that, but what the hell does he know about War? He says he knows how to WIN WARS .... how (my friends) by getting caught and having an admiral for a dad?
Please, give this country a fucking break, give us Obama for President.
There may still be some shreds to save of our integrity and honor and treasure.
Bangkok Bob, right on ! Thank you.

I couldn't download the video but I found the transcript:

Then half-hour into the event I hear our guys here at our political desk announce McCain has just arrived at the worship center. I'm thinking, hey, if he just arrived at the worship center, he couldn't have been in the cone of silence. Right?
WARREN: Well, that's true. He was in a cone of -- a secret service motorcade. That's exactly for sure."

at 4:57 Nancy loses grip on reality, esp her historic part in enabling the carnage
she also at the beginning states what every person with a brain and experience of non US healthcare knows, NHS health care equals a happy worry free society and frees people to live rather than SLAVE.
One thing all of this points out: the Obama camp can't take McCain lightly in the debates. He'll have to be on his A-game for them. McCain can get away with a lot simply by throwing out his "time in a box" line, or by saying "Hanoi Hilton," or "drill here and now." Simpletons will relate.
He's actually a pretty tough guy to debate, judging by what I saw in both this year's primary debates and in '00 because he's a random thinker. His attacks and rebuttals hopscotch all over the place like a bunch of little bombs (no pun intended), making it hard to reply in the alloted time. Ron Paul had a lot of trouble with him for that reason, and Obama, given that he tends to be methodical--and sometimes too nuanced--in his answers, may also.
Obama's gonna need to "drill, drill, drill."

Now the Family Research Center - the Tony Perkins mob - has moved the Netherlands into Scandinavia.
I hope they appreciate that.
"For a case study in where same-sex "marriage" can lead, look no further than the Netherlands. New reports are circulating that the Scandinavian country, which already recognizes counterfeit marriage, has opened its official registers to polygamists. Although the Dutch officially ban the practice of polygamy, they've agreed to make concessions for the country's immigrants ....."

I live in an Ex-Pat community of about 100 US citizens and 45 Canadians, lots of Germans and Dutch here in Chiang Mai. Not one, I repeat, NOT ONE of them is for Mclame. Most have six or seven Obama signs on their lawns. Most of use wear T-shirts with things like Daddy's little War Criminal on them. Bush is hated all over the world more than any past President in my time and I'm 71, born in 1937. I've seen a lot, but this last 7.6 years take the cake. Osama Bin Ladin couldnt have wished for a better co-conspirator in bringing down America's financial institution. Bush and Cheney did everything Osama wanted and more.
May they be treated like Thaksin shiniwatra and never be able to leave and be hounded into horrible slow deaths.
WTF Nancy mentions opening up the 'Strategic Reserve' something which Chimpy has already done if I remember correctly,
this shows the corrupt and short sighted attitude of the Repugs and their Democratic enablers.
The three month oil reserve sitting in old oil fields onshore in the US is a national defense thing, a buffer to stop the collapse of US industry and the economy if WW3 erupts or similar, not a political toy to buy votes at the gas pumps.
The DC crowd shoe their incompetence and unfitness to govern the USA, if OPEC kept oil prices high, the reserve dried up, then OPEC cut off the oil, the US economy would collapse within a week.
Thats why there is a three month buffer to stop the US being blackmailed by foreign oil producers.
I think McShame's story about his incarceration is a bunch of bull. The swiftboaters had no problem finding dozens of 'witnesses' to John Kerry.
Not a single person - to my knowledge - has come and corroborated or denied his stories.
Why is that? Are there none?
Hey guys I have a question about that pipeline in Georgia the TCB that BP oil runs owns I cant remember where,
But I read it some ware that it cost $100 million and was paid for with US tax dollars.
Now what I don't get is from what I can remember that money dose not have to be paid back?
Also why would we have to pay for something like that shouldn't the oil company pay that, it is there product.
and if it was paid for with US tax money why is it BP's pipeline.
Its hard to focus on the reality of how nasty and evil a lot of the DC politicians really are, they wear nice clothes, have nice capped teeth, act real genteel on TV, and look like butter woundnt melt in their mouths.
But the reality is that they are cowardly monsters with blood dripping from their hands, they are too cowardly to actually go to Iraq or the Philippines themselves and bayonet some 3rd world poor person int he guts, so they hire American poor people to do it for them.
But George, Dick, Nancy, Harry, Johnny McNapalm all are blood soaked monsters, with the deaths of millions against their souls.

I'll give Obama a couple of years to see if he can straighten out any of this mess and maybe then I might consider returning. I'm on the list, so i am personal non grata on flights into the US, I can get in, but i have to endure hours of questioning in some sweaty room.

You mean the switboarters' book? I haven't read it either, and wouldn't even consider doing so. I was referring to the whole bunch in one of the ads that started off with: "We served with John Kerry ..." Turned out none of them did, they were just somewhere else in Vietnam at the time.
If the Democratic party fights properly and upsets the Repug biased MSM, which can only twist and corrupt coverage of Obama so far, beyond a certain point it will becomes obvious to even the densest viewer that Mac is bad and being propped up by the MSM.
McNasty hasnt got the stamina and strength to fight the truth, only enough to play with a complaint opposition.
Someone needs to do the "But I'm a POW!" ala "But I'm a Cheerleader!" poster for McCain -- the "how dare they accuse John McCain, who was a POW, of ..." shtick needs to be made into a laugh line.

what i heard was that a pipeline built on permafrost to maintain and protect around the clock would be expensive.....to insure, maintain and protect from potential terrorist attack. 0.50 isn't going to happen....the oil will go on the world market since oil drilled on u.s. soil/territory is not nationalized so anyone can buy...because of that competition/open market no one will get it for that price.

Be careful, lest you will be accused of being unpatriotic.
That is also why people generally don't 'know' McCain because if anyone asks or questions his experience, military history or character they will be damned as 'America Haters'.
Has anyone ever asked him what his 'foreign policy' experience cosist of? Crossing the border from Iraq into Pakistan then flying to Czechoslovakia?
I guess that group that claims to be lowering gas prices through prayer needs to step it up a notch because it looks like God has sent a storm to the Gulf of Mexico to raise gas prices back up. Maybe Exxon-Mobil hired people for a counter-prayer. It's late enough that it's early and I'm getting goofy, so I'd better be on my way.

Bob you are rocking tonight!
P.S. anytime you want to come to Canada we'd love to have you come for a visit.
I have said this over and over and over, for the last eight to ten months now and it has finely sunk in with most all the liberal media and thank God, they two can now see exactly what is in the face of anyone who spends a decent amount of time watching this trash.
I said McCain knew the answers to all the questions he was asked in the debate and guess what folks? He did and then has the dame nerve to like like the old dirty dog he is , but that's not his fault folks.
The blame goes again to our friends in National Media whom are bilking the hell out of especially Obama, with these massive charges for adds to fight off the very bull shit that they in fact invent for the purpose of cashing in. They give us this bogus polling data to make us believe that McCain is running neck and neck with Obama. NOT TRUE
You have to connect the dots and understand that what we already know about these people. It has to be consumed in your everyday thinking, that their is not going to be anything you get from them that you can count on to be truth. These people get a charge out of seeing other peoples kids die, based on lies and distortions of fact, that they deliver every day. This we already know.
They are spending an inordinate amount of time and money to tear down what they all know to be a complete BLOW OUT, in this race, or they would not be spending the time and money to do what they are doing and the fact that they have another three months to accomplish the task of destroying Obama is so very clear.
Oh yea but the polling data they give us is truth. Come on folks wake up before they do what they have been doing to us for the last eight years. We can't afford to allow them any more leverage or traction, using our air waves. We can't control what they say or do, but we can let them know that it is not working. NOT THIS DAME TIME
Obama has as many white votes as he always did, because these people are as serious as anyone, when they say they are fed the hell up. They are losing their homes, in need of health care, they are paying the same prices at the pumps as all others and has suffered an inordinate amount of job losses, due to the Bush and McCain policies, which are one of the same.
We cannot allow them to play this race game on us and you know they will not even attempt to play this game on black or brown people, so they are doing all they can to give this false impression that most whites will not support Obama buy using these hand picked whites, they know are lost in time and that really need to be saved from themselves.
Yes we know there are some that will not vote for a black man but Obama does not need all whites to vote for him. The thirty to forty percent that he has will work, providing the rest of us do what we know to do. AND WE WILL
First it was he wont get the white women, then he wont get the old white people and now he wont get the white men. One thing they are right about and that is he will not get any of the far right White's, and he was never able to do that, so we need to move on and protect the polling places, because there is no doubt about whom all of us will be voting for.
The liberal media which we all have depended on so much to bring us some sort of semblance of truth, has finely come to the realization that something is seriously wrong. Yes we have very little of it, but it has been very effective, providing critical information on Air America, KGO Radio with Ray Tal, NovaM, Democracy Now with Amy Goodman, The Huffington Post, The Nation and of coarse the thousands of blog sites, all over the Internet, including Crooks and Liars and MoveON.com
It was good to hear Tom Hartman and Randi Rhodes, both agree that their is something lagging in the polling data and the biggest problem is with the use of only land lines and the other is the fact that big media needs to keep this race exciting to get us to watch them and to get all the money we are donating to Obama, so they are really doctoring the polling data. We need to demand that Democrats do some independent polling to assure American voters that we are on the right track. Zogby and Resmussion will not work anymore in our They are also bought and paid for. How sad.
Many from the liberal media have been seen as invited guest on many of these talk shows and I assume they did not want to think the worst of these networks, but at some point and time we all have to come to the realization of what is in our face, each and every dame day and come to terms that the message and what we see and know is not jiving and then look at whom is giving it to us.
In the lead up to both the 2000/2004 Presidential Elections, we witnessed with our own eye's, in Florida, where they took the voting machines behind the door, locked out everyone and came back two hours later and called the election to Bush.
All the exit polls, all over this country had John Kerry as the winner, yet the very next day we see the so called reliable pollsters in Zoby and all the rest of these people having to come out and justify why it is that we did not see what we thought we saw and they were wrong.
In spite of the fact this Rupert Murdock media continues to withhold this critical information, we have have many experts in this field to come out in the form of books, to tell us what the truth is.
The lead up to this illegal invasion is just another factor in which media has failed to do their jobs and has been a consistent mouth piece for an Administration that has poll numbers in the toilet.
We sit and watch media promote and play games with Corporate America, whom are pouring massive amounts of money on them to distort critical information. This is a fact folks, when we all have seen all the information and all of the high paid lobbyist that actually work on the McCain campaign, yet they totally disregard this revelation and they go after Obama on all of this trivial, made up, false information, to distract us from the truth.
When you see Obama, and many of us follow his every move, from state to state where he is attracting most times hundreds and thousands of adoring fans, and these are not just spectators, but people who plan to vote for this man, and many of them with all the Obama gear they spent money on.
We are not just watching but communicating with the people in these states, whom are in attendance not just at the Obama, events, but they also attend the McCain events, which it is so true that McCain never attracts more then thirty or forty people and that is on a high note. We view him on national TV and even though the networks will do some serious doctoring of his back drop, they cannot cover up the fact that No one is listening to McCain.
I do not believe this is a raciest statement and I do hope that people do not take it as such when I say that the real problem we are having with this election is with White America, whom many of us are not sure exactly how many of them will be supporting the democratic ticket. Never mind the reason, but we want to know if this will be the group that will again make the fatal mistake of re-sending the republicans back to the white house.
Black and Brown people have voted for White men and women forever and yet now we are hearing these same people will allow the misery and suffrage of the right wing gang to continue, even knowing how badly they will suffer. The numbers do not lie, when we know that Obama can count on at least 90% of Black support, 60% to 70% of the Brown support and it is fairly clear that we see and communicate with at the very least 30% to 40% of the White support and most likely 50% of all other.
It is presumed that McCain will unfortunately get 50 to 60% of the White vote maybe 5 to 8% of the Black vote 30 to 35% of the Brown vote and split the vote of all other 50%
With this information said, I think it would be wise for Senator Obama to focus on the large states that are sure to give him the bulk of the electoral votes, like California New York, Texas, Philadelphia, Florida, Ohio, Chicago and on and on. Because democrats have always done so well in these states, where many of these small southern states are not on the same page and that is a fact.
I said that I believed they were doing it because most all of these idiot anchors are high paid right wing fools, looking to keep the money flowing, however I heard a different reason this morning with Tom Hartman of Air America, when his take was that they could be playing with the data because of ratings and to keep the candidates ( mostly Obama), spending these obscene amounts of money on these ads they have to run to fight off the attacks that these sick bastards are running against him.
Folks, this is all of our hard earned money that we are giving to Obama to help him win this election. It is not for the sick purpose of these right wing greedy ass holes in our media to get people who would normally not even give these bastards the time of day.
They are already bilking the hell out of us with these over priced cable bills we are paying and the fact that those of us who want to find the truth, are burdened with the added expense of XM Radio's and Computers, to get some relief for these idiots.
These ass holes are doing any and everything they can to divide us because they know that people of all colors are geared up to vote the right wing machine all over this country, out of office, so what they are now doing is playing the race card to create this notion that most white Americans will not vote for Obama to get blacks pissed off and create this divide.
It is true as it has always been that many white will Not support Obama for that reason, but it is no where near the levels the media is promoting and would have us believe.
Many white Americans are suffering as much as anyone else, under the leader of George Bush, John McCain, Big Dick Cheney and Condi Rice. We are all fed up with these cheap disgusting thugs and are all ready to get rid of this garbage.
On election day we should be forming a circle around this entire country, holding hands in unity and solidarity, that we are going to do what we ALL, need to do to get our country back
Peace
PS: Oh yea folks for all that will be attending the convention to remember that silence is the remedy to get rid of all that ales you. Remember you are dealing with mostly these fools that are republicans. No real democrats would do this and there is nothing these people will not do. It's about OBAMA
.....One thing he said was that Obama should keep praising McCain’s military service if Obama wants to help McCain become the next president. I guess Obama didn’t see what Michael Moore said or he thought it wasn’t sarcasm. Here is a quote from today’s headline stories :....
Obama needs Joe Biden as VP. Biden has no kind words for the Bush Administration, of which McCain is a mere extension.
The arrest warrant for Larry Sinclair, the felon who tried to create a scandal for Obama, came from Delaware, Joe Biden's state.
If Biden can take down the Larry Sinclair scum, he can take down the Corsi scum as well.
Got this from the chud.com 2008 Presidential Election forum, it's too good not to share.

My dad went on a tirade about how the Obama slogan (Change we can believe in.) is grammatically incorrect (he said it should be "Change in which we can believe", which, while it may be correct, is beyond awkward as a slogan). I then told him that if grammatical errors are such a big concern for him, why did he vote for Bush both times?
We haven't really spoken since.
Is John McCain Twoface?
Someone somewhere compared George W. Bush to Batman, the Dark Knight.
Following that narrative, that would make John McCain Harvey Dent, Batman's intended successor in the movie.
Though I don't see te parallel between Bush and Batman, the similarities between Twoface Harvey Dent and Twoface John McCain are striking: both seem to possess two independent personas: they are both unpredictable and unreliable in their positions, their policies and their actions (Harvey Dent is guided by flipping a coin. What guides John McCain isn't clear).
Harvey Dent loses his virtue after he is defeated by crime and corruption. John McCain also choses the dark ways of his adversaries after his defeat in 2000.
And at the end of "The Dark Knight", the press is fed only the good, crime-fighting side of Harvey Dent. Just as in real life the press seems to notice only the "good", maverick side of Twoface McCain.
99 Shan. I know your Dad is not from Texas because those people don't know anything about grammar. In Bush's case, he was a "C" student at Yale but he became even dumber when he moved to Texas.

.....The Hanoi Hilton, he spent his ‘war’ shacked up with prostitutes in Hanoi and working for the NVA......
Reminds me, I recently saw a video on YouTube of an American soldier who married a beautiful Iraqi girl. She's a respectable and a well educated doctor. The soldier said his commanders gave him a hard time and tried to charge him with a crime. In all there are only a couple dozen marriages between American GI's and Iraqi women. Could it be that respectability and education is overlooked when one is a Muslim? Gee, I wonder who in America is responsible for that?
But OH, didn't they bring back those slutty, uneducated Bar girls from VietNam? GI's brought them into the US by the thousands with no questions asked. Surely, this had to be part of the strategy for the dumbing down of America. Of course their Budhist religion was also not a threat to some groups in the USA who might have a problem with it.
Republicans have a sense of humor. Sort of. Like when they moved the U.S. Central American torture squad spook leader to Iraq and gave his mission to pacify the country the same name it had in Central America. It's the sort of humor apartheid South Africa had when they named the Bureau of State Security (BOSS).
Has anybody written an article yet that John McCain is basically an inside joke? That the Republican Party is confident they could run a junkyard dog from the pound with fleas, pin worm, bad breath and rabies for president and win as long as they have the mainstream media behind them and can steal enough votes with a handful of strategies.

Nuclear Energy: Expensive, Dangerous, Not Cost-Effective - http://www.desmogblog.com/nuclear-energy-expensive-dangerous-not-cost-ef...
Amory Lovins and Imran Sheikh have penned a new report on nuclear energy as a fossil fuel option, concluding that nuclear is still dangerous and complicated, not particularly reliable, creates a pollution problem that lasts for many millennia and is therefore a waste of money that could be spent more productively on renewable energy.
Perhaps most devastating to the 'free market' fans, Lovins and Sheikh note that "nuclear power plants are unfinanceable in the private capital market because of their excessive costs and financial risks and the high uncertainty of both."
"During the nuclear revival now allegedly underway, no new nuclear project on earth has been financed by private risk capital, chosen by an open decision process, nor bid into the world’s innumerable power markets and auctions. No old nuclear plant has been resold at a value consistent with a market case for building a new one."
The cornerstone of the McBush campaign's 'energy plan'....is a sad, sad joke.
'I have not missed any crucial vote', John McCain, who has missed several crucial energy votes, says he hasn't - http://gristmill.grist.org/story/2008/8/15/16612/5853
McCain's has actually missed several "crucial" energy votes. In July alone, he missed every single energy vote brought to the floor.

"McCain says 'Here's my plan, I'm going to drill here, drill now which is something he only came up with two months ago when he started looking at polling," Obama said of McCain's energy policy.
The GOP hopeful has become a vocal proponent of offshore oil drilling as a way to ease U.S. dependence on foreign oil and has criticized Obama for failing to embrace it as a way to help bring down oil prices. Obama noted that McCain had long opposed lifting the moratorium on offshore drilling.
Preposterous Polls and Corrupt Campaigns - http://www.opednews.com/articles/Preposterous-Polls-and-Cor-by-Jim-Fetze...
"What’s wrong with this picture? Everyone hates George W. Bush. Everyone wants change. Over 65% of the American people agree the nation is headed in the wrong direction. One candidate is brilliant, inspiring, charismatic and represents change. The other is aging, inarticulate, incoherent and stands for the status quo. The first has been running a brilliant campaign, the other a campaign in virtual chaos. Each day one candidate offers serious solutions for significant problems, while the other makes a fool of himself.
Yet the polls say, “McCain is gaining ground” and “Obama is losing ground”. One nation poll even has them running neck and neck or shows McCain ahead of Obama. Note: That's what I've been asking, what is wrong with these polls and these campaigns.
The purpose of these questionable polls is to create the impression that the race is close-close enough to steal. Maybe we are dumb enough to fall for it. "

Paul Krugman: It’s the Economy Stupor - http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/18/opinion/18krugman.html?ex=1376712000&e...
By rights, John McCain should be getting hammered on economics. After all, Mr. McCain proposes continuing the policies of a president who’s had a truly dismal economic record — job growth under the current administration has been the slowest in 60 years, even slower than job growth under the first President Bush. And the public blames the White House, giving Mr. Bush spectacularly low ratings on his handling of the economy.
Meanwhile, The Times reports that, according to associates, Mr. McCain still “dials up” Phil Gramm, the former senator who resigned as co-chairman of the campaign after calling America a “nation of whiners” and dismissing the country’s economic woes as nothing more than a “mental recession.” And Mr. Gramm is still considered a top pick for Treasury secretary.
So Mr. McCain would seem to offer a target a mile wide: a die-hard supporter of failed economic policies who takes his advice from people completely out of touch with the lives of working Americans.

Hoffman, who got his post thanks to Vice President Dick Cheney, regularly helped the veep undercut environmental regulations, according to a Washington Post investigation published last year. From keeping the Yellowstone cutthroat trout off the Endangered Species List to helping lift the Clinton-era ban on snowmobiling in Yellowstone National Park, Hoffman, former director of the Cody, Wyo., Chamber of Commerce, made sure that commerce in his and Cheney's home state wasn't unduly burdened.
Hoffman also overrode the decision of the Grand Canyon's park superintendent to remove biblical plaques from the park, and forced its bookstores to stock a creationist text claiming the canyon was created in six days a few thousand years ago. More recently, he tried to rewrite national park management rules to give snowmobiles and off-road vehicles free rein and allow commercial activities, like mining and rock concerts.

Why CNN sucks: More Evidence of Why BuzzFlash Does Not Accept Advertising. It Co-opts Coverage. From Think Progress, "ExxonMobil owns the media’s convention coverage." - http://thinkprogress.org/2008/08/15/exxon-owns-media/
As ThinkProgress noted yesterday, ExxonMobil is sponsoring CNN’s coverage of both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions. We also noted that CBS’s political coverage is sponsored by ExxonMobil. Now, it appears that National Journal has also opened its doors to Big Oil sponsorship, announcing on its website that its coverage of the 2008 conventions will be “presented by ExxonMobil”

The word in is a preposition, and the rule is you don't end a sentence with a preposition. A possible alternative for the Obama slogan is simply Change You Can Believe.
