It's Ashwin Madia Blog Day In Minnesota

Today's Ashwin Madia Blog Day in Minnesota. Bloggers there are having a heyday exposing Republican reactionary Erik Paulsen and spotlighting the leadership abilities of ex-U.S. Marine officer Madia. It's a very winnable race in blue-trending Twin Cities suburbs (MN-03) and Ash is a superlative replacement for retiring Republican Jim Ramstad. Over at DownWithTyranny we tried showing Ash's courageousness and dedication to principles and values by highlighting his stand on one of the most difficult of all issues for politicians to talk about: gay rights. Ashwin doesn't hide behind fake constructs like "civil unions." Here's the MTV profile that will give you an idea of what this guy is all about-- and here's the Minnesota united blogs ActBlue page.

First.... Hope this guy gets elected..

I met him at MN Pride this July. He will be great. His opponent, Eric Paulsen, is already push polling to try and keep him out. Paulsen also won't take a public stance on Iraq, and hes an incumbent Republican. MN needs you Ashwin!!

Here in the mid-west all we can do is just slam McCain. he is wrong on SO many issues. not to mention is opposition to stuff like ethanol and "farming". he blows SO much smoke about equal pay and women's rights. The Iowa Democrats released a video today. It's good, but it makes me freaking mad.

Seriously. mccain is worse than bush

Thanks for promoted our efforts, Howie! I've been covering the MN-03 race since the beginning and we definitely do have a chance. Plenty of posts up about Ashwin over at mnblue.

Madia as hell and we're not taking it anymore!

How long before the combat dodging chickenhawks start swiftboating him?

Let's hope the people of Minnesota elect the guy. I'm feeling this election will be a watershed moment in history. I hope Obama wins. But listeningto C-Span in the morning, I think many Americans went off the deep end.

oh oh oh!!! i didn't see a flag pin!! i didn't see him wearing a a flag pin!!!

Ruthless@5, Only SwiftBoaters could make George Bush heroic and John Kerry cowardly. Let's hope the masses aren't as stupid this time.

and he's dark skin too, must be a tara-ist!!

Ash is in my district running for Jim Ramstaad's old seat. Ramstaad is a centrist Republican who was good on environmental issues but bad on the war and civil liberties. Ash has great chances here. The only way he'd lose is if he's perceived as an extremist. He definitely isn't one, but the dirty tricks have only just begun.

Minnesota and Maine have a lot in common -- long winters! I think when people start fueling up their tanks for home heating and realize the Rethugs have disowned the little guy while giving vast breaks to the oil robber barrons they will elect the good guys like Ashwin Madia who care about all of us, not just the fat cats and CEOs of corporations.

Go Ashwin!

How refreshing it is to see a young politician like Madia who is socially progressive, tolerant and understanding of all people. We need more like him.

What a STUD!!! I hope Madia gets elected and I will be contributing, though I don't live in MN.

Damn. For the first time in my life I wish I lived in the suburbs, so I could vote for this guy.

Speaking from the realm of Keith Ellison (MN-05 (Mpls.); Unbelievably Safe-DFL).

There's no such thing as an ex-Marine, unless you've dishonored yourself. He is a former officer of Marines.

Ooh rah, Madia! Make it hurt!

a wee bit off topic (he is an openly gay conservative, so maybe not) but Andrew Sullivan had a good piece yesterday. ...'Bush, Cheney don't believe that McCain was tortured'... he just went through legitimate techniques used to extract vital information in a time of conflict.

just wondering if the Democratic machine can use this interesting way framing the non-torture thats going on and maybe shut down the POW McCain stories we hear in between drill, drill, drill!

Political Sharks (slideshow)

Underwater Adventures Aquarium owner Todd Peterson has collected 56 glass sharks and is now displaying them in a jesting tribute to the upcoming Republican National Convention.

hehehe, feel the love emanating from all over America towards the Republicans.

I dont think the rules allow the Democrats to fight dirty, only IOKIYAR applies.

good slogan that

"Seriously, McCain worse than Bush"

The military is wising up to the fact that the republicans are pro military industrial complex and anti military service.

A very impressive guy! Even though I don't live in the same state, this is the kind of candidate that was easy to contribute to. I hope it helps.

Sounds like a great guy. It's time for the next generation to lead us into the future. More progress more movement to the right direction for our country.

He makes speaking the truth seem . . . easy.

What a refreshing young man...

Still looks like there's enough stupid people in Minnesota to elect Norm Coleman over Al Franken though.

Don't forget, they also elected Coleman over Mondale. Madia's a terrific candidate, it's just too bad he's running in such a hopelessly red state.

Seems like a pretty cool guy. Hey, anyone want to run against a do-nothing, know-nothing Congressman named Henry Brown in the 1st district of South Carolina? Talk about red, we've got a Republican who can't do anything unless he's told to by the Party, and then how to. He's set to be re-elected forever.

I'd run myself, but I like the weed a little too much to make it in politricks. A weakness that (only) sometimes I regret.

Like they (Republicans) are Pro-birth but don't care of what happens to a person after being born!

Whether he is a Muslim?
