Forget The Kitchen Sink, We Got The Kitchen Table
For a preview of what's to come with Biden on the ticket, today he fired back at McCain's multiple homes with a nice little gem.
Download | play
Download | play
This was such a powerful way of working McCain's housing problem from this past week into the current economic situation facing America. Biden delivered it perfectly and the crowd loved it. You can bet the right wing is ready with a counter strike, but I don't think that will faze Biden.

Attack dog, was it?
Love it!
Keep hammering, Joe, and don't stop until McSame is sitting in a rocking chair whittling sticks on the front porch of one of his McMansions.
The Straight (Jacket) Talk Express got its stupid , lying ass kicked today by the Straight To The Chops Express ............
Not so fast. Joe Biden knows somebody who owns multiple houses (i.e. Mc-I'm-A- POW). So, Biden is the elitist.
time for some blue collar style ball busting.....
I can't remember the line verbatim, but besides the "kitchen table" line (which will have the most resonance with John Q Public), my favorite line was when Obama introduced Biden as (paraphrasing here): "what others pretend to be...a true statesman who is actually tough rather than just chest-thumping sloganeering" (something like that)
Biden is exactly what this campaign has needed for a long time. He talks straight and fair and isn't afraid to level with his audience or the American people. I also liked it when he referred to his wife and then spontaneously commented on her beauty. It's stuff like that that connect with Americans and show him to be authentic.
If you read Obama's speech, it kinda gets to ya. I didn't like the idea of Biden at first. Now, he seems fairly well suited.
He sure as shit will blow the doors of McCain and crew. LOL thank god HRC was not chosen.
What has me hottest right now is the BULLSHIT double standard that kept Sebelius off the ticket, and by that
I mean ONLY HRC could be veep, no other woman, cause it would piss of the HRC harpies. Fuck that and Fuck them.
Attention all HRC harpies, you can go back to making your husband a miserable wretch instead of the whole NATION!!
AHHHH!
Make sure that everyone that you know is registered to vote. Here are the deadlines and links to voter registration in your state. PASS IT ON!

McCain's campaign brought in Rove and the negative crap began to fly.
Obama needed a heavy duty attack dog and Biden fits the bill.
The line on kitchen table... to paraphrase was, "Most Americans go home at night and sit around the kitchen table trying to figure out how to make ends meet with soaring gas, food prices, and how to afford college tuition for the kids.
John McCain goes home and the only problem that he faces is which one of the seven kitchen tables should he sit at!"
GO Joe GO! This guy ROCKS.
To all the deligates- Welcome to Denver.
Kitchen Sink, Kitchen Table what ever Democrats have they need to throw it at McCain starting this week.
Haha. Awesome!
7 kitchen tables... that's assuming that there is only one kitchen per house!
I couldn't get the media to play. Is it corrupted?
[.wmv is working for me-Sitemonitor]
john wayne payne @ 14:
And that's not counting the dining room tables. And I'll bet those things aren't cheap.
I'll bet they have one that costs over 30k .
Three years.
There were just three years between when Biden passed the bar exame and when he got elected Senator at the age of 30.
How the hell did he do that?
Today's announcement has my spirits up again. Thanks, Obama/Biden.
It's fine.
This is great. One for soaring rhetoric and one for the one-two punch.
7 kitchen tables… that’s assuming that there is only one kitchen per house!
The kitchenettes for the maids don't count..
Looks like Biden is kicking a$s! I like it.
frankie @ 15:
won't work for me either, says it is a corrupt file
[I'll email the admin-Sitemonitor]
Let's be careful that we're staying on message - it's not the 7 houses that's the issue, it's the total apathy towards those that have 6 or 7 fewer than that.
did you hear joe say i'm here for you people in pennsylvania....scranton who have been forgotten.
that addresses the 'guns and religion' line
I don't like the selection, although I don't know who would be best for VP. Biden is too chummy with the entities that are making life more difficult for americans, like the banks. I think Biden represents all about Washington that Obama says he would like to change.
I love the the fact that the rightists only path of attack is to praise Biden. If they say that Obama has such weak foreign policy experience that he had to choose Biden, they are also saying that Biden's foreign policy skills are commendable. Plus, they have been criticizing Obama on foreign policy for months. No doubt they would have continued to do so no matter who he chose. Are Repubs suggesting that he should have chosen someone less skilled in foreign policy?
What a joke they are. Get ready to slam McCain for being ignorant of economics when he chooses Romney.
cg @ 22:
yes and it's directed at mccain pointing finger(s) often and early at obama being an elitist. he needs to look in the mirror....money can always be brought into the elitist framing
I am creeped out by the idea of changing a VP who represents big oil for a VP who represents big banking.
I will never forgive Biden for the bankruptcy bill. Never.
Obama thinks this is a safe choice. He is wrong. What does Biden bring, besides his willingness to campaign in a way that Obama claims he will not?
Mrs. Language Person says, you mean it won't "faze" Biden. (Not "phase.")
[I sent an email to the spelling correctors-Sitemonitor]
All I can say is Go Obama and Biden!!!
link don't work for me ether!
thebewilderness @ 27:
who do you think is a sure bet/perfect v.p...?
Here is a list of our enemies...
1. The military industrial complex
2. It's PR company called the Mainstream Media
3. The low info, high cholesterol, racist, sexist, redneck American public
4. The US Governement
Does Obama/Biden belong in any of those groups?
It was Biden who delivered what may have been the best single line of the whole campaign up till now (and the one that helped blow Rudy out of the water): "Every sentence out of his [Giuliani's] mouth consists of three things—a noun, a verb, and 9/11."
PS: It's "fazed" not "phased."
Too much Star Trek?
Brilliant.
I actually saw this on Fox, who played that soundbite. The drone that was on was adamant about mentioning that the 7 houses aren't, in fact, John McCain's but Cindy's and that the issue of ownership is more complicated than how Obama and now Biden are framing it.
It sounds like they are trying to fit in that Rove memo about how this whole thing is some kind of an attack on the wife of a candidate.
Weak.
I can't wait for Biden to demolish the Republican nominee for VP in a debate, and for him to shove the Republicans' b.s. back down their throats. Whether or not you agree with him on everything (I don't), Biden is the real deal. And he has his own character-building tragedy to humanize him. He's not rich, he didn't try to "marry up". I do think he can be verbose, but at least he's intelligent when he riffs--just try to listen to, or decipher, what George Bush or McCain are saying when they attempt to string together more than two sentences. Yet Biden is approachable, and easily passes that ridiculous "but can you have a beer with him" test that's slithered into our politics.
That's fuckin awesome.
Hot damn! I'm fired up again! Yippee Ti Yi Yay. Go git "em! Knock one out of the park! Let's have a win so big the Dibold "errors" won't make a difference.
From the man who delivered us "Rudy Giuliani is a noun, a verb, and 9/11". If nothing else Biden will find us that one liner that can give us something to rally around, and take it straight to McCain. Its nice to see the democratic party pick a VP nominee who will go straight at the republicans instead of backing down and taking it. Nice!
Zak44 @ 33:
Just a phase, I'd bet.
Did anyone catch Biden's new last name for Barrack Obama? Now he's Barrack America. Love the guy. Seriously, Biden is exactly what Obama needs right now. Let's kick ass in November!
thebewilderness @ 27:
Don't piss on the parade. The vice prez isn't the pope or Jesus Christ. Obama is the man and he chose Biden. That's good enough for me.
Frankly I'm just glad Obama picked someone who will talk back to these Republicans liars.
I'm sick and damn tired of yelling "BULLSHIT!" at the TV every time one of these assclowns is on.
Leadership @ 32:
The government is not your enemy. The government is your property. It's currently been hijacked by a bunch of brigands. Take it back.
[Deleted. Off topic. Someone got here with the grammar correction before you Zak. Let's move it along-Sitemonitor]
John Tighe @ 24:
1. Biden is one of the few members of congress who is not a millionaire... so he ain't one of the club.
He doesn't live in DC, he still lives in Delaware, drives his own car and takes his own garbage to the dump. He came from a blue collar family and he reflects and lives their values.
2. Obama needs Biden's expertise in the Senate to get his agenda through the gauntlet. Biden knows how to get things done and get bipartisan support.
You didn't think that Obama had a magic wand to make all the blue dogs and repugs fall in line with his agenda did you? Biden's experience in the senate is a crucial addition to his efforts.
3. Obama needed an attack dog. McSame brought in Rove to run his campaign and it went negative to the point of outright libelous. He's not comfortable with that kind of campaigning and Biden has a reputation for his outspoken verbal assaults on the senate floor and judging by his speech today... he relishes the opportunity to smack the piss out of McSame at any opportunity!
4. Obama needed someone to balance out his ticket with extensive foreign policy, national security, and a real depth of experience. As he said, "my VP has got to be able to push back on me, not a yes man. He has to be my last and best adviser. In Biden he's got that!
5. Polls showed that Obama was not connecting with older women voters the way that Hillary did and he needed help in this are because they are the most reliable voting block in elections. Biden does extremely well with this group and "working families" as well.
Biden's work with the "Violence Against Women" Act makes him very useful as a women's rights activist and again popular with that demographic.
I can go on... but you get the point... whether you want to or not.
Leadership @ 32:
Yes.
Do you really think the Military Industrial Complex only plays with Republican pieces?
Obama/Biden!! Two leaders speaking to the real difficulties we all face. Set new paths to change and glance aside at the Republicans chasing their tails over abortion.
Rasputin @ 45:
Bravo. Well said!
Leadership @ 32:
1. The military industrial complex OWNS the US Government.
2. So do the 5 media corporations that control >60% of US media.
3. Which is largely why Americans are low info, high cholesterol, racist, sexist, and redneck.
But not to worry, in just a few years the majority of Americans will be Latino.
the argument that biden represents old washington politics....is weak at best. first and foremost obama is the
boss. secondly 'change' will come with a good understanding of the past.....biden has that understanding
i believe biden wants change himself. i curious to see how the (R) spins this and how some people on this blog react.
Doesn't Biden have his own reputation for misspeaking in public?
A lot of people know who Biden is - they see him on interviews on the morning national "news" programs. I've seen him on the Today show (via satellite) probably a dozen times this year. When he's on TV, he's clear, direct and straight to the point, and he seems to get along with the interviewer, is very gracious and has a nice smile. Even if the masses don't know anything about him, he's a face & voice they recognize. I think that counts for something.
constituent @ 50:
just like George W. Bush is the boss to Cheney?
Did he too also vote to reauthorize the Patriot Act in 2006?
When it come to spellin' I'm a regular spelunker.
ysbaddaden @ 51:
there is a short history about some 'gaffes'.....if we could only find someone perfect.....i wonder if we'd still be looking....?
While John's trying to figure out which of his 7 kitchen tables to sit at Cindy is trying to remember which of her 7 medicine cabinets she left her drugs in.
Great pick for Obama, and someone that can stand up and take what the right is going to throw at him
Nice relaxing afternoon now, with the news, and even more enjoyable watching the neocon talking heads having a gigantic hissyfit of EPIC proportions.
IMHO the only way the Democrats will be beat in November is if the repugs steal another election. Have we removed all of the bugs from Diebold yet?
What's with the Oil here advertisement?
ysbaddaden @ 51:
The
corporateright wingmainstream media loves to misinterpret and quote out of context. Biden is known for making "articulate" an insult:“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.”
I hope he flays McCain like that every single day. THANK GOD we now have a barracuda on the job at last!
I am a big fan of Westley Clark but I am more than satisfied with Biden. Now let's take back our country.
I like Hillary, but I really like Biden. He's got experience, confidence, wisdom and humour. Obama chose well.
They will make a great team.
mjULTRA @ 53:
and he fronted the idea of sending a billion $ in aid to Georgia.
He follows the media narrative and the Neocon narrative on this incident.
He either willingly follows - or he does as he is told by the MIC.
frankie @ 15:
You're confusing the media clip with who's on it.
Sorry to double post but I still want to know what the DNC is doing about Diebold. Any observations?
Barack and Joe have their pitchforks at the ready!

If elected vice president, is Delaware reliable enough to vote in a Democrat as his successor? I think Illinois is. Otherwise, a presidential win could mean the loss of two seats in the Senate.
And the way things are going now, with the anger at everyone in power, I don't know if any area could be considered reliably anything anymore.
I'm into vice.
liberAL @ 58:
you are headed in exactly the right direction. now that our dem team's settled, we all gotta keep an eye on those damn voting machines.
enlist all your legal and techie buddies, we all gotta do this $#!+ together...
Rick @ 59:
This is just a guess, so bear with me -- This is a bluff to the drill offshore crowd. So, you want to drill? ok, fine, but all the oil stays here in the USA. The oil robber barrons are hating it.
twuzoo @ 62:
i'd like to see clark appointed a cabinet position.
Jo @ 48:
Thanks!
Personally I wanted to see Clark get the VP slot and second to him I wanted Hillary back on the menu, but the more I thought about it... Biden is a better choice. I didn't come to this quickly but thought about it quite a while and it all makes sense.
constituent @ 70:
I agree whole heartedly!
I'd like to see Clark as National Security Adviser or perhaps Secretary of State, if not Richardson. Clark is just too good a man, too bright and experienced to waste. Our problems are so dire that we need all of the best men and women we can find in the administration.
Rasputin @ 71:
Ditto here. He's not going to take any shit from anyone! And he is very wise in foreign affairs, and because of his work against violence to women, a lot of women really like the man. I know I do.
One more plus -- Drudge, once again, was wrong!
someguy @ 17:
Barack graduated from Harvard Law in 1991, then worked in Chicago until he was elected to served in the Illinois State Senate (1997-2004) He was elected to the U.S. Senate. in 2004 he when he was 43, well above the age requirement of 30.
I was hoping he'd nominate a chick.
I knew it probably wouldn't be Hillary; she's almost old enough to be his mother.
Could you imagine trying to work with your mother looking over your shoulder?
So, the architect of the bankruptcy bill and credit card companies best friend is now leading the fight for the middle class.
BS.
Now we have three corrupt Senators to save our country.
More BS.
Its business as usual.
ysbaddaden @ 76:
I thought I told you to lay off the sauce until after five... Oh it Six, never mind, have one for me!;-)
getalife @ 77:
Things a bit slow over at Red State are they?
But can you put impeachment on that kitchen table?
getalife @ 77:
Well skippy we ARE truly fucked if we think change in this country is going to come from the top down.
Our only chance is that Obama and Biden will be receptive to the People’s issues when they take office. We know what McSame’s about, chances are Obama/Biden won’t be worse but are they going to save us? No way sport, we are the only ones who can save us. Buy less, get out of debt, voluntarily lower your “standard of living”, support local networks of merchants and services……if all of us do a little and set a positive example it WILL add up to a lot. Make sure your own house is in order and support those who you have influence with to help them do the same. It is the only way and the only hope for real and meaningful change.
If we don't do those things it won't really matter who wins because it will remain "business as usual."
'nuff said sport, now you can go back to your usual weekend activities. Me, I'll go back to harvesting organic produce and getting ready to deliver it to town Monday. Got to help feed the people.
again the argument that biden doesn't represent 'change'
is weak....at best. biden can't stand/tolerate g.w.bush
overall a good choice
AManWithoutAName @ 80:
Yes please, and Nanci for once shut up and do what the people want!!
Rasputin @ 79:
And how is Obama corrupt? Rezko, right?
But, but, McSame is a POW.
bush had little experience and he beat out mccain in 2000. the experience theme is weak
perfect!
biden comes out swinging!
where tailgunner joe LIEberman when you need him? too bad he wasn't standing behind mcKeatingFive when McMansion was asked how many houses.
Edwin Hussein @ 85:
noun, verb, POW!
perfect!
That is what I LOVE about the Biden selection. He will not take any crap from the GOP. He's the perfect attack dog for Obama.
Obama just doesn't have that "fighter" attitude. Of course he wants to win in November, but he won't get down and dirty...and you need to against the GOP.
Biden has no problem going after McC*nt and his crew.
twuzoo @ 83:
And Nanci Pelosi if you can't get out of the way we'll have to use our voter voice.
we need to be able to turn around the two major
negative framing linguistic lines...celebrity during the convention and experience.
obama didn't need to make this pick...He wanted this pick.
joe biden is a welcomed 'insider.' in the policy genre, he knows who's behind our own iron curtain and he knows where all those funny little buttons and trip wires and throw switches are and how the other side will resort to using them. he knows where the quicksand is and how he and obama can avoid it. he also has a wisecracking style that...i...(ahem), like. gaffes/ schmaffes...besides, i've already heard mccain's. democratic party 'insiders'-when you can actually get them the platform, ( and not just a pitiful, scant majority afraid of hearing cracking eggshells ) can produce for the entire country, not just a precious, select few. work has to be done to minimize the role of those dems that have worked to aid the narrow-minded agenda of the repubs. and give those dem and maybe repubs that are civic-minded and up to the challenge of fixing what's wrong a more meaningful role, and work, work, work to stop this embarrassing corruption in washington and elsewhere. when an 82 year old senator thinks breaking the rules and breaking the law is no big deal and without consequences(for HIM) ...it's time to bring washington back to earth.
Mike from Boston @ 34:
Wow, that Cindy... owning all those houses, huh?! Has she loaned some to her sisters?? Naw, didn't think so!
Biden helped Clinton create the Iraqi National Council and Ahmad Chalabi. Biden was also instrumental in the Otpor, Orange and Red pseudo revolutions that rolled across Eastern Europe in the 90's and 00's putting in place un-democratic but pro-free-market client regimes of the U.S. In order to slow or stop the current decline of the U.S. it is necessary to adopt actual liberal policies ala FDR and not just conservative-lite policies ala Clinton and Biden.
Maybe and Biden have hope, but not enough judgement to get the U.S. out of its downward spiral. learn to swim
CoIntelPro for Pronktastic Victory Over SCLM, DIEBOLD, ESS and SEQUOIA! @ 88:
Maybe perfect for you, CoIntelPro, but not for Biden. He's a bit classier than that.
If he does go there or says it like that, it's a huge net win for McCain.
BUt you seem to have completely forgiven him for all the things you chastised him for before for saying just as egregious things about Democrats, including the man who just selected him to be his running mate.
constituent @ 82:
yes a real smart choice. now let's steamroll these bastards.
ysbaddaden @ 76:
The current president could have used some sort of mother looking over his shoulder. Oh wait... that would be Barbara "And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them," Bush.
Never mind.
Okay, how many people were expecting Biden to accidentally use some salty language during that speech? I started to get a horrible feeling about half-way through. He was getting really pumped.
Funny thing is, the MSM would probably let it slide, seeing as it's Biden.
Overall a good start, but both of them needed to slow down. They made a couple of uncharacteristic gaffes.

david shuster softly made a point earlier when he was talking to a mccain supporter (donatelli??) that the obama campaign can use to counter the attack re: inexperience. he pressed the point that sometimes mccain people believe what biden says and sometimes they dont. the point is the mccain campaign is liable to "pick and choose", or are "selective" on what they believe biden says. a surrogate should counter questions on these and be dismissive (with a wave of a hand, better) and say that the mccain are being selective etc.
bullfrog @ 96:

Dude, I like you and all, but Biden voted for the war and actually was for the $87 billion before he was for it again and again. That's not change.
The Change platform goes B-B-B-bye-den with this pick.
I'm sorry to rain on your parade on this joyful day, but not many of you have been kind to this guy.

Saint Augustine @ 99:
I know all that, St. Augustine. I don't agree with it, but I've heard it all before.
My point is, like the slogan CoIntelPro loved, what you printed here is all left-wing blog smears, and Biden won't go there. He's a good attacker, but I'd be surprised if he goes anywhere near CiP's slogan or what you printed.
Obama won't go there either. And I give them both credit for not.
dennis @ 101:
At this point I don't even want change anymore. I just want to avoid freaking WWIII.
Because let's face it, the candidate for change is John McCain. Only he stands for changing from a crappy situation to a REALLY crappy situation.
dennis @ 101:
Nothing will change if Obama doesn't win the Presidency and he needs Biden to do that. Further... Obama will be the President... not Biden so the Change Platform still holds true.
Why Does Obama need Biden:
1. Biden is one of the few members of congress who is not a millionaire... so he ain't one of the club.
He doesn't live in DC, he still lives in Delaware, drives his own car and takes his own garbage to the dump. He came from a blue collar family and he reflects and lives their values. Working Class voters like him.
Biden can rip the lungs out of the opposition and say things that the candidate can't. During the debates we saw that Biden can do that. Alterman pointed this out this morning on NBC and it is the function of the VP nominee in a campaign... while the candidate appears to be above the fray.
Biden knows how to talk prose... He can say the "inconvenient truths" that everybody knows but the candidate can't say. Although he talks too much sometimes... he frequently comes up with the short pithy zingers that ring of direct talk with no punches pulled that register with average Americans. Remember during the debates his, "Noun, Verb, 9/11" zinger? Nothing nuanced about the man, its right for the jugular!
4. Obama needed someone to balance out his ticket with extensive foreign policy, national security, military affairs, and a real depth of experience. As he said, "my VP has got to be able to push back on me, not a yes man. He has to be my last and best adviser. In Biden he's got that!
5. Polls showed that Obama was not connecting with older women voters the way that Hillary did and he needed help in this area because they are the most reliable voting block in elections. Biden does extremely well with this group and "working families" as well.

"A black mark on Joe Biden's resume dismisses any notion that the senator is populist, Jackson Williams writes in the Huffington Post. Of all former Democratic presidential hopefuls, Biden alone supported a 2005 bankruptcy bill that favors credit companies and makes it harder for the working class to declare bankruptcy.
Biden didn’t just vote for this bill, Williams notes: "He helped carry the water on it" and joined lawmakers in striking down amendments. Biden is a senator in Delaware, which is home to several credit companies, so he “obviously knows how his bread is buttered.” But Republicans won’t attack Biden on this one—the bill was their baby, and John McCain was particularly supportive."
These corrupt Senators will not save the middle class or our country.

dennis @ 107:
Dennis...
As long as the hand wringing and wailing about "the change ticket is dead" continues... I'll keep posting the pragmatic side of the equation.
The change ticket ain't dead... Obama still would be the President if elected and he's doing what he needs to do to get elected. One thing is sure as hell certain... if he doesn't get elected not only will nothing change, but they are going to get a hell of a lot worse!
If it means anything to you, Pat Buchanan said it quite correctly, "If McCain gets elected he will make Dick Cheney look like Mahatma Gandhi" and he is right. McCain is a devout Neocon as is his chief foreign policy adviser and his economic adviser is Enron Phil Gramm.
Will Rogers was once asked about his party affiliation and he replied, "I don't belong to an organized political party... I'm a Democrat." Party unity among this herd of cats is critical right now.
Is Biden Perfect? Not by a long shot... but as I've outlined there are real pragmatic reasons for Obama's choice. So don't let "perfect be the enemy of progress." Got it?
Me go now, me listening to Brace Beemer as the Lone Ranger...
...Oh great, John Todd's Tonto diction is contagious.
McCranky and his multiple personality campaign better get used to smacks up side the head from here on out. Biden will go 15 rounds with any of them.
Rasputin @ 113:
Yeah, I got it, Raspy. I understand pragmatism- I've been a Republican for a long time. I also value intellectual honesty.
We'll see about the party unity. So far, I'm hearing the PUMAs aren't all that happy. Time will tell.
And I've always liked Biden. I don't know or not, but maybe that tells you something right there.
Here's your VP America
Guess who's pocket he's already in?

Hey! i was there!!!
the ONLY thing wrong about the event - not enough water...
i think it could be a story... they made everybody toss their bottled water... but you could buy big cups of water for $2... i passed a water stand because i couldn't get a bottle and didn't want to bother with a cup - which i think most everybody else felt the same... it didn't take long, in the hot sun to know that i had to go back and get some water - good people kept my spot in return for an extra cup... the press of the crowd made that trip near impossible... but i think it was a mistake to not allow bottled water - which is much more convenient to sip on and re-cap... many people were suffering... there was not enough water.
but, damn, it was a great event... at the spot where barack announced, the old capitol building...
i was there THAT day also - Feb 07, bitter cold... at least it was a georgeos sunny day...
today we were cheering the clouds! just glad it wasn't in the 90s or more!
Feb. and Aug. in Illinois - one extreme to the other!
i think i preferred the COLD! ... i'm pooped...
In 35 years of marriage I've never sat down at the kitchen table and discussed bills with my wife.
ysbaddaden @ 67:
If elected vice president, is Delaware reliable enough to vote in a Democrat as his successor? I think Illinois is. Otherwise, a presidential win could mean the loss of two seats in the Senate.
And the way things are going now, with the anger at everyone in power, I don’t know if any area could be considered reliably anything anymore.
I’m into vice.
He's up for re-election this year. He can run for senate as well as VP and then resign his senate seat. Ruth Ann Minner is the Gov of Del. She's a Dem. She'd appoint a Dem replacementn.
Steve @ 119:
Perhaps you are gay and have a domestic partner not a wife?
Now do tell me, are you saying that you and your wife of 35 years never discussed bills or are you saying you and the wife argued about them elsewhere or that when you were in the kitchen discussing the bills you stood or that you never argued about bills?
Inquiring minds want to know.
Thanking you in advance for your prompt response.
dennis @ 116:
Dennis...
I have many friends who are conservative Republicans who are voting for Obama because as one of them succinctly put it, "The Republican party now isn't the Republican party I grew up with." Many of them are in law enforcement and they really do believe in the rule of law and they have watched this administration turn the law and the constitution into a shredded heap of paper and they are pissed.
Many of them are vets and served in Vietnam and Korea. Now they see an administration using the same tactics that they abhorred when the enemy did them... torture, spying on ordinary citizens, lack of due process, kangaroo tribunals... it doesn't sit well with them or what they thought they were fighting for.
They're not ready to become Democrats, but they sure don't want McCain in the White House.
I hope that Obama can really build an "American Consensus" and turn this country in a direction that is consistent with the principles set down by the founding fathers. They're noble ideals and worth aspiring to live up to. Time will tell.
As to the Puma's... that group was founded by a McCain supporter and is more of a media aberration than a real political movement. Biden's work with the "Violence Against Women" act has made him popular with older women and he plays well to that demographic.
Will all of Clinton's supporters now support Obama? I doubt that all of them will, but I also think that most will and Biden's selection just gave them one very big reason to warm up to him.
So we'll see what happens...
Hiya Saint,
We have never discussed bills, just paid 'em. 35 years, no lie. I guess we've been lucky to not have money problems to any degree ever, but that took discipline to maintain that position.
Steve
Steve @ 123:
And having the right partner goes a long way in that equation... sounds like you chose wisely!
I am a happy camper ! Biden will do what Obama can't and won't do , go on the attack , hit hard and tell it like it is .
Steve @ 123:
You are indeed fortunate, but I can't imagine "never" having even discussed, talked about, financial decisions. Are you rich? Or are you just Middle Class ( 8K to 4.9M per year income).
Well let me be blunt, where does your money comr from?
Saint Augustine @ 126:
self employed carpet cleaning company owner, 25 years on the truck, the last 10 years just overseeing and marketing, etc.
steve - who is the family treasurer? and is your wife happy with that arrangement?
curious.
i thought my ex-husband, who was good at math, would be great at the family finances thing...
i am "math phobic", but had to take it back over, after finding the stupid things he paid with the credit card... like a house payment... yikes... why he's an ex, actually... one of the reasons...
GOP Sen. Thad Cochran: “The Thought Of His Being President Sends A Cold Chill Down My Spine.”
“Sen. Thad Cochran of Mississippi, who has known Sen. John McCain for more than three decades, on Wednesday endorsed Mitt Romney for president. Cochran said his choice was prompted partly by his fear of how McCain might behave in the Oval Office. ‘The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine,’ Cochran said about McCain by phone. ‘He is erratic. He is hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me.’” [Boston Globe, 1/27/08]
Former GOP Sen. Bob Smith: “His Temper Would Place This Country At Risk In International Affairs, And The World Perhaps In Danger. In My Mind, It Should Disqualify Him.”
“Former Sen. Bob Smith, a New Hampshire Republican, expresses worries about McCain: ‘His temper would place this country at risk in international affairs, and the world perhaps in danger. In my mind, it should disqualify him.’… ‘I've witnessed a lot of his temper and outbursts,’ Smith said. ‘For me, some of this stuff is relevant. It raises questions about stability. . . . It's more than just temper. It's this need of his to show you that he's above you -- a sneering, condescending attitude. It's hurt his relationships in Congress. . . . I've seen it up-close.’” [Washington Post, 4/20/08]
GOP Sen. Pete Domenici: “I Decided I Didn't Want This Guy Anywhere Near A Trigger.”
McCain’s “ire is all too real. This has prompted questions about whether his temperament is suited to the office of commander-in-chief... [AP, 2/16/08]

Norse @ 1:
Like Montgomery Burns says" Smithers, release the hounds"!
Joe Biden is a really great talking points guy will be really good at hammering. Usually the Republicans can simply ignore what Dems say and dominate and choose the subjects to be discussed. But this guy is really good at turning the tables and smacking down the right wingers.
Steve @ 129:
I guess it would be none of my business to ask about the business financial figures, but really, you and your wife NEVER talked about any financial situation.??
I must ask if your wife was a non-working house wife and if you have children. Or did the wife work, either for the busines or elsewhere.
Did you never have a conflict where you had to decide whether your available cash should be invested in the business versus paying a household bill?
Are you fucking shitting me?
My opinion, Obama chose well. President Bush has fouled up this nations world affairs so that Biden is a very wise choice. Biden can also speak to McCain as her in this vid clip as well as he did to Rudy Guliani, " A noun a verb and 9/11 ". The beginning of Rudy's end.
I see Obama's choice here as what he needs when he gets to the Presidency and not so much as who can help get him there.
VP's do role play the attack dog. Biden is savvy on Washingtons habits and flaws. You can expect
Biden to check McCain and watch Obama's back.
Lets see McCain's pick. If John picks Romney, its for his money ( Romney's self campaign donating account)) and possible help in bringing Michagin, which may not happen because Mitt was not Govener there it was Mitt's Dad and that was some time ago.
If I could suggest to McCain for Veep,
Newt, Jeb, Romney, Lieberman, Lindsey Graham, Hastert, Guliani and most worthy of McCain would be Fred Thompson.
McCain / Thompson what a team.
Joe Biden says:
"When I was a young Senator, I used to say, "If I were a Jew I'd be a Zionist."
I am a Zionist. You don't have to be a Jew to be a Zionist."

Right on. Also - both of them really put the proper unprivileged, working man, face back on the Democratic Party. (I think that the term Obama used was 'blustering'.
this shows off the genius of Obama and his sound judgment,
many debated whahahaha about who was the VEEP, listen to Biden's style. He is the perfect enforcer to layeth the Smackdown on John McCain's campaign .
Hillary was a risk to distract the MSN and pundits, even if she played her role correctly to the letter. The Media would never allow it.
Give 'em hell, Biden. They deserve it.
Biden's voting record proves he is a strong advocate for the middle class.

For what it's worth, we in the UK are absolutely delighted that Joe Biden has been chosen. He is remembered here for his excellent work in resolving the Bosnia crisis. He is honest, intelligent, trustworthy, experienced and respected. But most important of all, he's a tough and able fighter. Not only will he stick it back down the throat of the Rove smear machine, when he's in office he'll chase down and bring to justice those BuchCo neo-con criminals that have done so much damage to America for far too long. Go Joe!
I hope McCain picks Romney, because the vice presidential debates will be fun to watch. Biden will tear that empty suit a new one.
Joe: Make damn sure you mention the situation on the Iraq - Pakistan border. A lot.
McDuff @ 119:
Sh*t!!! This guy doesn't even call himself a supporter of Israel, he actually labels himself a Zionist.
Joe Biden is going to rip the Bush Administration apart and remind us we'll get more of the same with McCain. I can't wait to hear it. Nobody can rip Bush like Joe Biden.
.......141 Jo Schmo says: But most important of all, he’s a tough and able fighter. Joe Biden must have inside information on slime ball Rove and the neo-con criminals. I wonder where he got it? LOL.
Centrocitta @ 145:
Quite honestly, although I don't expect much out of an Obama administration, if the rest of this campaign involves some real hard-core ripping of the Bush regime that would be sweeeet.
Talking about houses, over at No Quarter, Larry Johnson says, "Can someone get these guys some name tags or something. Seems to be some confusion about names and titles".
This from Larry Johnson, the "Real Estate Agent", LOL. I'm beginning to wonder if Larry was in on any of the deals for McCains eight houses.
Fox News is now criticizing Joe Biden, and calling it a sexist remark, for referring to his own wife as "Drop dead gorgeous". Fox News, which ONLY hires good looking women with long hair.
Hillary, eat your heart out! I'm sure Biden's remark was a slight to Hillary, the same as the strategy behind the 3:00 AM text messages.
Go Obama/Biden. Don't cut the slimeballs any slack. Take every opportunity to slam them any way you can. They deserve it and WE, your supporters LOVE it.
